Rate this book
The Brookshire story is a story of family. Founder W.T. “Wood” Brookshire transformed the first Brookshire’s store into the cornerstone of one of the largest family-owned grocery chains in the country. In this book, Wood never meets a stranger and gives “jump over the counter” customer service to everyone who walks in his stores. When a devastating fire and a world war threaten to destroy everything, Wood looks to the fundamentals of hard work, honor and integrity to pull the Company through. I like to pick up books about places I visit or people I learn about. This book needed a strong edit but I appreciated how he ran through the history of the store.

There were some points made about Mr. Brookshire that weren't flattering, but overall he seems like a kind man who created a decent company.

This was a very comprehensive story of Brookshire's Grocery Company but man was it boring!!! The only part I found interesting was the chapter on the Brookshire's Wildlife Museum.
