USA Today Bestselling Author Asa Maria Bradley grew up in Sweden surrounded by archaeology and history steeped in Norse mythology, which inspired her sexy paranormal romance and urban fantasy series.
Booklist attributes Asa's writing with “nonstop action, satisfying romantic encounters, and intriguing world building” and Entertainment Weekly says “when it comes to paranormal romance with explosive action scenes, Bradley has that nailed.” Her work has received the honors of a double nomination for the Romance Writers of America’s RITA contest, a Reviewers’ Choice Award nomination, a Holt Medallion win, and a Booksellers’ Best Award win.
Asa came to the United States as a high school exchange student and quickly fell in love with ranch dressing and crime TV dramas of all flavors, two addictions she unfortunately still struggles with. Currently, she lives on a lake deep in the forest of the Pacific Northwest with a British husband and a rescue dog of indeterminate breed. Sadly, neither of them obeys any of her commands.
A Wolf’s Hunger by Asa Marie Bradley Paranormal romance. Witches and werewolves.
Laney is an expert on magical artifacts and is tricked into stealing from the alpha of the werewolves, Arak Varg. His tech experts are able to track Laney down and rescue her from the meat hook the Black magic witches had hung her on. Arak, Laney and his team then work on tracking down the infiltrators.
Fast moving adventure with quick to lovers attraction. I found the secondary characters really intriguing and can’t wait to get their stories. It seems like there is also a lot of magic building still going on with Laney and there is a lot of potential in the basement full of magical items. This is a slight cliffhanger for the series but the couple is set.
A quick and easy book to read between heavier fare! Romantic suspense is my go to for just a fun beach read. This one was short - wish there was more emotional complexity and more fleshed out scenes, including the climax and ending.
Sadly, I had to dnf this one. It had a strong premise. A thief with some witch blood steals an artifact from an alpha wolf only to find out she had been double crossed by the company who gave her the job. She ends up being captured and tortured before this same alpha wolf saves her from certain death. All he wants his his pack artifact back but somehow this turns into him thinking she's his mate and her falling into to bed with him way too easily -- again after being tortured and the same alpha borderline threatening her on top of it.
Also, the number one thing that caused me to close the book was giggling sex. Heroines who giggle throughout most of the act completely turn me off. Good luck if you give this one a try though! It just wasn't for me.
A quick read which sadly didn't really work for me, despite a few good moments. For this reader there was sadly no chemistry between the characters and it was more like a 'skating on the surface' story. I love shifter romances and everything paranormal but there was no world building or any character development nor depth. The storyline wasn't fully fleshed out and there were a lot of unexplained lose ends. I'm so gutted, because this Author seems like a good writer and I love 'meeting' new Authors!
Worth more than gold I love finding fantastic works of art by new authors, and this is one of my most recent favorites. The characters were phenomenal, and the chemistry is off the charts. You know all those must have elements for any good romance. Throw in the wolf shifter, the witch on a mission to clear her name, and the side characters that added depth to the story and this is a PNR series that I can’t wait to see more of.
This is a new author to me and I definitely will be reading more of her work!!! She has well developed characters and the storyline is intriguing and suspenseful. The entertaining read captivated me from the very first chapter and I couldn’t put it down until the book ended. Arek is a billionaire wolf shifter who runs a security firm and is also the Alpha of the western packs. Laney is a witch and former curator I have a museum until false allegations are brought up against her of stealing artifacts. She is tasked to procure the Odin medallion but Arek is not going to part with it. The chemistry between Arek and Laney is combustible. They then team up to find out who is setting them up. I can’t wait until the next installment of this fascinating series comes out!!
Okay some called her a thief... While she thought of herself as an independent contractor.

She would do anything to boost her tattered reputation after it was dragged through the muck and the mire. With few opportunities left I'm stuck in some mediocre job but since I like eating and of course I have to pay my bills and no one accepts sob stories. She'd quickly glanced over the latest dossier on her newest target and while she'd been a little surprised but nope that wasn't going to stop her it really was to bad so sad. Now dressed for success she went to work. Arek was mind numb and totally enraged that someone had the audacity to steal from him and his pack. Okay so he'd made a bad choice but the chance to get the information that was being offered had been to good to pass up. It really didn't take a genius to figure out how they were going solve this mystery. There was something that was off and didn't feel quite right but she wasn't sure why and when faced with a figure from her past she'd realized just a little to late. Apparently either it was the maid's day off or the poor girl just wasn't that domesticated because her place was a total wreck. Yeah he didn't believe that for one second so now who would have trash a place like this and why? Oh boy oh ... They all recognized the species and it didn't take a stupid person to surmise who they belong to. Laney was truly grateful that he saved her but seriously she wasn't that dumb to just hand over her only advantage. Arek honestly could understand the need for them to all band together but the headaches that came with dealing with all the top dogs and their testosterone was nearly unbearable. At least she saved his guy before her spell did any life ending damage but with few choices left she finally changed her mind. She was attractive and there was no denying he was attracted to her and the second she said yes he didn't waste a moment. Now his furry side had clearly confused a nice tumble in the sheets to mean more and he wouldn't stop using that four letter word. Tonight was most amusing for some and quite irritating to others especially when you're date is an alpha thoroughly loved punching her ex's sensitive buttons. There was always plenty of reasons why Arek and his pack didn't like or even trust magical beings. And of course the she-demon tormenting was all the proof they really needed but now they were the ones in need of being saved..

The first book in “The Norse Billionaire Shifters” by Asa Maria Bradley, “A Wolf's Hunger”, is an interesting mix of shifter tale, paranormal billionaire romance and light Norse mythology. An interesting story that centers around the relationship between Arek Varg and Laney Marconi.
Arek Varg is a billionaire owner of a security company that specializes in hostage rescue and bodyguard duties. And, he is the Alpha of all Western Packs, a wolf shifter, whose power resides in an old ancient Norse medallion. Laney Marconi is a witch, who after falling for grace in academic circles and losing her curator job due to false accusations, now works for insurance companies reclaiming stolen object. But as her last job ends up disastrously, and she on the run from Arek, she has to rethink if perhaps teaming up with Arek is the best option, she can ever get.
This is a paranormal romance story, that while delivering as expected, still manages to add a couple of unexpected twists into a very interesting overall plot, well-balanced between mystery, action, romance, and adventure. The chemistry between Arek and Laney is undeniable, both are credible and multidimensional characters that find themselves by chance on the same path, only to realize that is the right path for them all along. The story is well-written, fast-paced, and very entertaining. A very good start into a new paranormal romance series.
This is the first book I have read by Asa nd it will not be the last. I loved this world she created with Wolves and Witches and other magical beings. Arek is the leader of the pacts and Laney is a witch. She works at a museum and is accused of stealing artifacts when they tell her to find this old relic and she can keep her job.
Only they didn't tell her she would be in danger when she retrieved the relic. What happens after that is the crux of this story and I loved it. Laney and Arek are amazing characters. This book you will not put down. I need the second book like ASAP!
I love a good shape shifter romance, from the complicated ones to the super cheesy ones, give me all. This one was short and to the point. Easy to read and with a easy story to follow. The chemistry was ON POINT and all the characters had fun, interesting personalities, and were easy to love. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
Ms. Bradley is a new to me author. I really enjoyed her book. I liked her writing style. She gave good developed characters. And the storyline and plot are exciting and sexy. The story was fun and entertaining. It’s fast paced and a quick read. I loved Laney. I thought she was feisty and sassy. She is definitely no weakling. She’s not only beautiful but she’s smart and brave. Arek is the strong silent type. He’s no nonsense and takes protecting his pack extremely seriously. He’d pick their well being over his needs always. The spark and connection between Arek and Laney definitely there. No matter how much either tried to deny it. I’m absolutely looking forward to reading more of this series.
This is the first book in The Norse Billionaire Shifters and it was great! Arek, a wolf shifter, is a billionaire and owner of a security company. He’s the Alpha of all Western Packs and connects with his pack with an Odin medallion. Laney is a witch and after lies ended her museum curator career, she works for insurance companies locating stolen objects. The alpha of the Eastern packs hires her to procure the Odin medallion and finds out too late it was a setup. I loved the characters of Laney and Arek and their connection. Such a wonderful story and one I recommend.
This book was a pretty good read. There are some spelling errors but other than that I enjoyed this book. I thought it was a good start to the series. Lanye was just trying to make a living after loading her job. She used her witch powers for good or at least she thought she was. Arek just wanted his amulet back from the witch that stole it. He ends up getting a lot more then just that. This book had some good suspense and a good plot I enjoyed it!
This was the first book i've read in this series. It was easy to follow. Light reading. Good characters. Fun chemistry. I'd try another book from this author.
Arek Varg is a wolf shifter and billionaire who runs a security company. He's also the alpha of the western packs and connects with pack magic through his Odin medallion. Dr Laney Marconi is a witch and former curator for a museum until false accusations destroyed her career. Now she recovers stolen artifacts for insurance companies. She's hired to recover the Odin medallion but soon discovers that she has been set up. Now Arek and Laney must get through misconceptions and work together to defeat a common enemy.
I received an ARC of this book from the author and this is my honest review. I loved this book which is first in a new series. This well-written book captured me from the beginning and kept me hooked until the end. The characters were wonderful and I really enjoyed the connection between Arek and Laney. I'm looking forward to the next book very much and I highly recommend this one.
This book was engaging, with some unexpected twists. It offered an interesting perspective on how magic users and shifters interact with each other. Arek and Laney were easy to connect to and you wanted to see them get together. It had the perfect mix of romance and mystery. I loved how magic artifacts helped weave the story. I highly recommend this book, I definitely want to read the next book to see how things unravel for all of the characters.

***spoiler alert***Laney used to work for the witch and mage coalition until her ex and a student ruined her, now she steals for insurance companies. The alpha of the eastern packs lied and had her steal something from the alpha of the western packs. Arek found her beaten and her apartment wrecked, he captured her for his medallion. She finally gave it to him and started working for him cataloging artifacts but they kept getting messed with by other witches lost one. But they were mates and figured things out! Great book! Love the action!
I enjoyed this read. This book offers a blend of shifters, magic and a bit of mythology to create a story that was enticing, engaging and left me eager to explore more of this series. I liked Arek and Laney. They were complex characters that had good chemistry. There is romance, turmoil, drama, tension, action, mystery and excitement to be had as the story unfolds. This is my volitional, candid review.
3 and a half stars. Okay so to start I got an advanced reader copy so maybe it hadn't gone through a final edit but there were some noticeable mistakes. Quotation marks when no one was speaking, words out of order in a sentence, and things like that. If the author had an editor go over this it would improve the reading experience greatly. But on to the actual review.
The characters were interesting though in all honestly the two bodyguards/ advisors were more interesting than Arek himself. I will likely enjoy the next two books more (if I read them) simply because the character details given hint at much more interesting pasts and futures than just being an old shapeshifter with a good sense for investments.
Laney though was cool. I wish they had expanded on her powers more. She uses them but we don't get much, except for her unraveling the curse, and that's too bad because it is implied she does some cool stuff with them.
The story ends when she and Arek decide to try to figure it out, they have quite the journey to make to get the pack to accept her as the alpha's mate, especially if they all hate witches as much as it is stated in the book. But we get none of that. It's a missing plot point that a book with the tag romance should not skip over. Making the relationship work and getting the others to accept it is the romance in paranormal romance. The sex scenes were hot but where are the scenes of them getting to know one another? or her interactions with the wolf that insists she is the true mate?
This could have gone into so much more detail. Especially with the whole mythology thing. The series is named after mythology but there is maybe one reference about Odin having loyal subjects and comparing them to Justice and Bolt but that's it. No deep-rooted myth connection.
A good read but do not expect something epic on all fronts.
a pretty good premise but needed a lot more fleshing out before it would be great.
Also not sure if it was just MY copy but MY GODS, the grammar and wording errors. It was like it was written by someone with English as a second language.
What a great start to The Norse Billionaire Shifters series! Laney is a witch and former museum curator. Former because of a falsely accused scandal. Now she reclaims stolen items for insurance companies using her witch powers. Her latest assign is to recover an ancient Odin medallion that is currently in the possession of billionaire Arek Varg. She had better be careful because Arek is a wolf shifter and runs a security company specializing in bodyguards, extraction teams, and hostage rescue. This alpha is no one to mess with but that isn’t going to stop her. Once she gets the medallion, there isn’t anything he won’t do to get it back. The hunt is on!
Kind of hard to not like a story when the main characters have the perfect chemistry that you look for in a story. Arek is strong, powerful with a hidden vulnerable side. Laney equally intelligent and her current circumstance gives her also a vulnerability without losing any strength of character. The two together have a great blend of heat and friction that when they come together…yummy! There’s nothing hotter than a wolf that will growl for his woman! There are quite a few secondary characters in this series, namely Justice and Bolt, I find quite interesting and look forward to reading their stories. Not to say Nora isn’t interesting because Hello!, she is pretty handy with a machete. However, Justice is just so yummy but Bolt, I am dying to discover his secrets. Why is he such a Mr. Grumpypants?! Ack! I am dying to find out. As for the bad guys, I’m not so sure we have seen the last of them.
As for the story, it’s fast paced and hard to put down. The worldbuilding is great and the plot hooked me in and held me to the end. Really there wasn’t anything to not like. Well, okay…maybe one thing. We are talking wolves here and you know when you have good and bad sides, there will inevitably be some kind of epic battle. Which there is. (Whoa Nora!). I can’t help but feel it ended just a bit…abruptly. I’m sure more will come out in future titles. Just can’t help but feel that the last few chapters felt a bit rushed, which gave me a sense of instead of reading a full story ending, I ended with a novella.
This is not my first book by Asa Marie Bradley. I have read several other titles and enjoyed them which is why I jumped up to start this new series of her. If you’ve never read any of her books, I suggest that you do and start with this Norse Billionaire Shifters Series. Now bring on Bolt’s book!
Stars – 4
I received this book from author. I was not compensated for the book other than the entertainment it provided. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
“The Norse Billionaire Shifters” is shaping to be another appealing new tales from Bradley. As the first in the series, A WOLF’S HUNGER set the premise on AU San Fransisco that would potentially evolve more as the (books) progressing. At the center of the story was Laney and Arek, the former a disgraced academic slash witch and the later alpha of the Western Packs wolves. Laney was duped into stealing Arek’s most prized relic and - after finding out the ruse - found her being hunted by the pack and malevolent force behind the snatch attempt.
As reader to two other series of this author, I applauded Bradley in creating imperfect heroes and heroines in the stories. Although at times I’m having a laugh at the expense of said hero/heroines, just like on here. See, Arek’s pack’s bread and butter is running security company. Considering Laney managed to swipe off his relic quite easily, one would wonder over the (company’s security) standard. True? But overall, A WOLF’S HUNGER is enjoyable; plenty of snark, banter, and camaraderie.
It’s a pretty fast-pacing story that gave away the baddie quite early. I wasn’t keen over how our protagonist go about handling the issue they got on hand. Yet somehow it served potential story in the long run, giving (readers) face - or name - as the big bad villain and what would follow on the next installments. There’s also room for more development to take place with the pack in general and Arek/Laney’s relationship in particular. I for one can’t wait for more stories of Arek’s wolves, especially those already introduced in this first book.
Copy of this book is kindly given by the author in exchange for an honest review.
This is book 1 in The Norse Billionaire Shifters series. Arek Varg is a wolf shifter and Alpha who also runs a security company. He uses an ancient Odin medallion to connect him to all of his pack's magic and it helps him run all the packs. But when there is discord between his packs and some rogues, he doesn't need his medallion to be stolen. Dr. Laney Marconi used to be a professor until she was left in disgrace. She now "reclaims" items for insurance companies that have been stolen by using her witch powers. But when she takes what she thought was a routine case, her world gets completely turned upside down. Now she has to team up with the Alpha she stole from and figure out who set her up.
Brand new to me author and boy what a way to get me hooked! Right from the first chapter with Laney-I was hooked. I loved how she came across the pages and I just loved her attitude in general. Arek and his enforcer's kept me wanting to know more about them along with their backgrounds. The story kept me engaged and wanting to know more while rooting for them to beat the bad guys! Now I can't wait to read about this wolf's 2 enforcer's but I also would love to know more about (or have a story for) a certain lawyer that we met! She cracked me up! For a new to me author-she hit this out of the ball park for me! Loved this! Of course, I now have to go and look at all her other books as well LOL!
A Wolf’s Hunger. I really enjoyed read this romantic suspense book. I thought that the writer did a great job with choosing a story plot that readers are excited to read. The fantasy side of the book was awesome. I found the details were explained in good detail, to the point were I was instantly hooked to the world of witches and wolves. The writer provided the reader, that’s me, with information surrounding the background to the different characters history. This gave me the knowledge that I needed, to answer some of the issues from the drama between Arek, his pack and the other Fae wolves. The entertainment was great! There were a number of twist and turns that linked one story to another. To me that just made the book all the more interesting to read. Laney and Arek are a kick but couple that I like. Arek knows that he has met his match with Laney, but he doesn’t come off as an overbearing Alpha with her. I like how he sort of plays it cool and just let romance happen. Laney, is a tough character, who knows when to be tough and when to stand back. I love that her character doesn’t come off as a flaky female. I really like that the writer kept the romance between the two main characters. That made it all the more fun to read.
If you've read the blurb then you know Laney was a respected and highly sought-after expert in the field of magical artifacts, that is until she was accused of actions at the university. Unfortunately, her years of tenure and reputation immediately crumbled along with friendships and co-workers, even the man she had discussed marriage with. Now she finds and reclaims stolen items for insurance companies. It isn't glamorous but it pays the bills. She's done business with one particular insurance company before so when the request for her to retrieve a medallion with Odin on it she has no problem retrieving it. The problem arises when she attempts to deliver the piece to the insurance company and the building is empty. Arek hasn't told anyone that the medallion has magical powers nor what he uses it for. When he realizes it's missing he immediately puts his team on the trail. He wants answers and the medallion back now. Ms. Bradley is also a new author to me and I was pleasantly surprised and pleased with the storyline, the delivery, the world-building, and most of all, her characters. The story was fast-moving and held my attention through all the twists and turns … the chemistry kept it sizzling.
A fantastic beginning for this new paranormal romance series.
My expectations for this book were very high, having read other books by this author. And I wasn't disappointed. As always the worldbuilding was superb and the characters real-to-life, even if lots of them were werewolves, and few others were witches. I loved that Arek isn't pretentious about being a billionaire. When Laney describes her house as a mansion, he doesn't agree with her. The house just has lots of rooms. Everything was necessary. I want to go live in his mansion
Laney might have taken a step down from her life as a well-respected witch. But that doesn't keep her down. She might work for insurance companies to recover stolen artifacts. But at least she brings happiness to others by returning their stolen goods. She stubborn, strong, and not afraid to stand up for what she believes in. Even if things get dicey.
Arek just wants his medallion back. Then he meets Laney, and things change. Arek might not be happy with the changes at first, but he does what needs to be done while telling himself it's just business. He's great with excuses, but he honest, at least to others. He might lie to himself a time or two. He has a strong need to protect others, especially his pack.
I enjoyed watching the dance of Laney and Arek's relationship. Their chemistry is dynamic, but kind of fun. The author did a wonderful job weaving this tale so you feel like your there, not just reading a story.
This was a dollar deal on Amazon. I feel like I spent too much. I was encouraged when I saw Ilona Andrews endorsed another book by this author. After reading this one I wondered what they saw in the other.
This is novella length. Good witch loses her job & has to support herself retrieving stolen magical artifacts for an insurance company. She steals an amulet right off the alpha to the wolf shifters neck. There's continuing action & drama. They jump into sex quickly, but since it's a novella, there's not a lot of time.
I wasn't really impressed with the writing. As other reviewers point out, there's a lot of typos. One of the characters puts a sword back into its sheet (sheath). I don't consider myself part of the grammar police, but even I was getting irritated. Probably not going on with the series, but may read another one if it's free.
Slow start that was hard to get into. Then it jumps to tons of action. Then the chemistry between Laney and Arek was not there. The wolf was more interested in her then he was. They meet and then even though he doesn’t trust her and she stole from him he sleeps with her. No chemistry for “mates”.
Important stuff was glossed over or not explained. The pendant’s power and why Laney could use it? Why were those witches after Arek and the pack? How do mates work?
So all unanswered questions and just all of a sudden ending, not sure I want to continue.
Received a copy from the author for an honest review.
