After writing a genre fiction series, what's next? Zoe York has been there a dozen times. In this follow up to Romance Your Brand, the USA Today bestselling author breaks down how to pick the right marketing plan for your brand, your books, and your readers.Let's talk •scheduling sales•planning releases•brand re-vamping•audience growth•fandom building•goal setting•weathering low points
New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Zoe York is a busy working mom of two young boys, wife to a very understanding soldier, and creator of modern, sexy, small town contemporary romances.
She lives in London, Ontario and is currently chugging Americanos, wiping sticky fingers, and dreaming of heroes in and out of uniform.
Omg Romance Your Brand and Romance Your Plan have been massive revelations for me... and I absolutely recommend reading them the way I did, back to back. They go together like peanut butter and jelly except that they leave me feeling far more empowered than a sandwich ever has.
Now these books are definitely not for everyone. If you are someone who refuses to write series, give these a pass, they probably won't be too helpful to you. But if you're someone who wants to write a series or who loves writing series or (like me) who somehow keeps writing series even though you mean to write a standalone here and there, these two books are really fantastic purchases.
I read them at such a good time for me. I have a couple series under my belt and I learned some lessons on my own, but I had some trouble articulating them and so I had some trouble figuring out exactly how I was going to fix them in the future. After reading these books I felt like Zoe had not only pinpointed the problems I had been struggling to articulate, but had given me the tools I needed to keep moving onward and upward.
In addition to that, she gave me tools to utilize for planning out a writing / release schedule that actually makes me feel (semi) relaxed when I looked at it rather than slightly frantic and wondering if I'm going to burn out like a candle at the end of its wick.
I originally bought these as ebooks but ended up purchasing them as paperbacks as well and now they are sitting on my work desk with many post-its and highlighted passages.
Solid resource for writers of all genres. It wasn’t necessarily new information—I’ve worked for authors and am friends with a whole bunch so I know a lot of tools of the trade—but it was helpful to have it all in one place and to be reminded about the importance of iteration.
I wanted a lot more on certain subjects, but what was here was easy to read and actionable. If I get spurred to do one thing by a marketing book, I figure it's worth the price of admission and this one got me to do two.
Great for beginners or those looking to up their game and not sure how. And for those who have been around the marketing block, this is a good reminder as well as a nudge to refine things a bit more for the results you want.
No-nonsense advice that can be immediately used and implemented. Easy to read, conversational--I've watched a few of Zoe's YouTube videos, so I could hear her voice perfectly as I read. I've been writing & publishing for over four years now, and I still took notes and gleaned new ideas from this book. That said, it covers some very basic ideas (newsletter building, social media basics) and would also be a great book for someone just starting out.
I mean new author about to go on a learning journey into self publishing. I have decided to link Multiple stories into 2 different series. This book is the very road map that I need to be sure of reaching my destination journey successfully. Zoe Created The very map To the land of publishing that every author needs. She has laid it out Very easily to understand into apply both Strategies and tips. Thank you so much For lighting the way for me
I am a hybrid author who wants to apply the reach of trad publishing with the control of indie publishing and this book seriously helped put everything in perspective. I'm so grateful for it!
Another incredibly, insightful journey into publishing with Zoe York! So many golden nuggets of information for both the novice and experienced author. A must-read for anyone self-publishing genre fiction.
Doing some major planning for the coming year, and this series has been a huge help. Managed to make me feel excited about marketing, which…*standing ovation for that Herculean feat*
I have read the first one and now I am ready to write my next five books in my line up. I am thankful to even be finishing up my first series pretty soon and now I am ready to read more books by Ms. York.
This series of books is a must-have for Romance Authors! Very detailed and easy-to-read instructions! Can't wait to dive into it now that I have given it a quick read-through!
This is a great book to read through and get ideas as a self-pub author. I was already doing a lot of things that were recommended, and now I have a few more ideas to try out when I'm ready.
There's some interesting insight and information in this book, and it's well organized overall. Probably an excellent resource if you're looking for this kind of advice. But wow did it need some serious copy-editing. The previous book in this series felt much better edited and polished. This one has a distracting number of typos and missing words, and I really can't recommend it.
