Book 7 in the bestselling post-apocalyptic romance series. How can we love in a world full of death?
A year has gone by and Nina is filled with rage and grief for her many losses. Only one thing remains the her hate for the Savages and the desire for their death.
More bitter and broken than she’s ever been before, she wonders if she can ever find her way back to the light again. But Shooter hasn’t given up on her yet, and neither have the rest of the Devil’s Highwaymen.

Mikey, living at Haven, is not the man he once was.
He hunts. He kills. He protects…but inside he has fallen apart.
He may have survived his time as the Savages’ prisoner and come away with all his body parts intact, but they managed to carve away a more vital part of him and he doesn’t know how to get it back.

Revenge is on both of their minds, their mutual hatred for the Savages continually driving them on toward an uncertain future. Together or apart, their enemy is the same, and they both cling to the hope of taking the head of the one who stole everything from them.

Only one thing is certain if they are to survive this enemy, they must seek out a truth that has evaded them thus far.
But will this truth destroy them?
Only time will tell.

"Like any bad drug, he wanted to give me up, but he couldn't."

ODIUM VII is the seventh book in The Dead Saga. An apocalyptic dystopian series with grit, raw passion, death, and destruction, Claire C. Riley will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire read. This series must be read in order for you to grasp the full scope of these characters and their relationships with each other. When we last saw Nina, my favorite heroine of all time, she had been badly injured and feeling isolated and alone. Even though she still has Shooter by her side, Mikey will always have her heart. Mikey is alive and living with O'Donnell at Haven. He has to overcome the trauma he faced while being held captive by the Savages! Although Mikey wants to move past the pain and loss, he cannot get Nina out of his mind or his heart.

description
"Today, I wouldn't be angry. Today I would just be."
Told in dual POV, ODIUM VII is non-stop action with suspense with nail-biting suspense through each and every turn of the page. My heart was in a tangled web the entire read. Obviously, Nina has and always will be my favorite character as she continues to fight and never fails to overcome any and every obstacle that is thrown in her way. Shooter and his bad biker MC are my favorite crew of MC MEN and WOMEN! The way in which this club bands together and cares for each other is truly remarkable. I know who I'd like to be stranded with at the end of the world!
"Each death was a nail through my hands and another thorn in my crown."
Overall, I was a little afraid to dive into ODIUM VII both Nina, Mikey, and Shooter have been through so much. I honestly didn't know what was going to happen next or how I would feel about it. Needless to say, Ms. Riley has wowed me again with her mad storytelling skills and I can say with complete sincerity that this is one read you do not want to miss. The Dead Saga will appeal to dystopian readers who like action, suspense, passion, and zombies! No doubt this series is far from over and I will never get enough!!!

Wow...

So it seems like an age we have been waiting for the release of Odium VII. And boy was it worth it.
So much joy and sorrow, watching Mikey and Nina battle their own demons along with the others was so sad, wondering will they ever really be happy.
And who could forget my favourite two highlander with his upbeat look on life, not to mention his wit and Scottish charm. And there is crazy pants herself (Joan) this lady just cracks me up, how she gets away with things is beyond me.

This book made me laugh and cry.

I am already itching to see how all this pans out in the next book.
This whole series is just brilliant.

OMW! Claire pulled all the stops out on this one, how am I supposed to review this without spoilers? Exciting? Tick. Full of angst? Tick. Action? Tick. Love? Tick. So many elements, suspense and even promise held in this story, things some of us fans have been keeping our fingers crossed for ages. Nothing good comes without pain, suffering and struggle so don't expect all sweetness and light coz you won't find it within these pages. This is battle for survival at its hardest, it's also about depression and PTSD. Both Mickey and Nina have suffered and both are struggling to deal and come to terms with changes in their own lives, for Mickey a lot of that is thinking Nina is dead, he is just existing until he can kill the Savages. Nina is so down she doesnt know how to even start pulling herself up, thankfully others are fighting for her, she has some good friends. Gripping, intense and builds to a climax that just keeps going. This was worth waiting for and now I have to wait for the next book.....

I really liked this book but I have to admit one thing. Nina was so annoying about first 15 % of the book. But I think it's a bit understandable after what happened end of last book. Begin of this book ina was like a big cry baby but luckily everything changed after that. She became like she used to be. Strong and fighter. Mikey had his own problems after what he went through hands of the Savages. Haven and Devil's Hangmen were still searching the Savages so they could destroy them. I liked Nina's and Highlander's friendship and banter. Can't wait to read next book. Especially after that a sneak peek at the end.

Holy guacamole, Batman! I've been waiting to get my greedy little hands on the next book in the The Dead Saga since devouring all previous six books when I discovered them a year or so ago and I'm so, so happy to say that Odium VII knocked it out of the park. It had everything I adore about this series: action, suspense, a bit of mystery, a sizeable dose of drama and angst (the good kind - not the type that goes nowhere and makes you want to poke out your own eyes with a fork), romance, a sojourn into the darker side of humanity, zombies, a heroine with a backbone that I can live vicariously through, a few edible males and a book boyfriend that has me making dreamy eyes at my Kindle (helllloooo, Mikey! Le sigh). A quick note - if you haven't read the previous books in The Dead Saga, you absolutely need to read them in order. The story is an ongoing one and to boot you'll get spoilers for the other books so don't start here (and why would you - the others are fantastic!).

* Quick note - there are no major spoilers for Odium VII below but due to the nature of how the series is written as an ongoing story, there are details from previous books in the series that are dropped here and there *

Odium VII takes place about a year or so after the violent and bloody conclusion of book VI and is told from a mix of both Nina and Mikey's point of view. Nina is angry and bitter at herself and the world in general, her only focus and reason for staying alive is to find and eliminate the Savages. She's still at the Devil's Highwaymen's clubhouse with Shooter but has disengaged from those around her. When she's given a chance to be an active player in the game again and crumbs of information start pointing towards her nemeses, Nina is back with a vengeance. I'm talking Odium I, "I'll stab you as quick as look at you because I'm not here to make friends" snarky Nina. And I LOVED it. While Nina will occasionally drive me up the wall and make me question my ability to slap a main character through the pages of a book, I really like how her character has developed across the series. She's frustrating but there's so much background around her character that while she can drive me to drink, I also feel like she's an old friend, so it was great to see her revert somewhat back to her take-no-prisoners glory.

Mikey is back at Haven with O'Donnell and while he's well onto the fact that something isn't right in the woods, he remains clueless to Nina's existence. I thought there'd be more of O'Donnell and to be perfectly honest, I'm glad there wasn't because I spent far too much time in previous books wanting a grand piano to fall on her. There's a writing challenge for you, Claire C. Riley lol. Both Haven and the Highwaymen's MC have a kind of alliance built on a mutual hatred of the Savages so when all roads start leading to Rome, it's time for them to move forward together and try to permanently stop the monstrous acts of the hard to find group. This is supported by a great cast of secondary characters, particularly from the MC. Highlander continued to be reader gold and I found Gauge offering a lot to this book, too.

Some of the characters that were front and centre in previous books took more of a backseat here, such as Shooter and Amara. Why? Because the plot focussed more on Nina and Mikey and their interaction with the world around them as they both tried to come to terms with the direction their lives were heading in. While the more recent books in the series seemed to lend themselves to the overarching plot line of the hurdles thrown at the characters while surviving in a zombie-infested future, this book continued to run with this theme but also put a greater emphasis on the human element of what life is post-apocalypse, particularly how temporary and frail life can be. Nina constantly pines for Mikey and he is living as a shell of his former self, still not coming to terms to life without his true love Nina. Personally, I loved it. I fell in love with this series because of Nina and Mikey so to read the book and feel like it was almost returning to its roots was perfect. Even after all they've been through, every second thought is of each other. I'd been missing this from the more recent books as they had a different focus.

Without spoiling anything, I was completely satisfied with the path this book took and where the journey went. I'll admit that before starting the book properly I took a teeny, tiny peek towards the end to check if Nina's decision making skills were going to make me stabby because, let's face it, the girl does make spontaneous choices that aren't always the best when under duress. I'm not going to spoil what happened, but mention it because to me that's a solid sign on how good this series is. I'm so invested in this series' characters and what's going to happen that I needed to know after desperately waiting for this book.

Overall, I loved this novel. The elements in this book are exactly why I got roped hook, line and sinker into this series to begin with. It made all of the frustrations and angst that came with V and VI worth it (almost - I'm still giving the author a bit of side-eye) and while, as always with this series, things never finish happily and someone is always left suffering, aspects of the ending still made my heart happy to read them. It was on par and reminiscent of Odium I (even including a Jolly Ranchers reference!) and will be going into my Favourites folder. Oh, and for Odium fans, you'll be pleased to know that there's no almost-cliffhanger-like ending and some loose ends are tied off. It was just such a great read and you even get a sneak peak at Odium VIII.

I'm not gonna lie - for a wee bit there, after the emotional and somewhat angsty roller coaster that were books V and VI that had me wanting to scratch the skin off my face with my fingernails at times, I wasn't sure if Ms Riley would be staying on my Christmas card list. While I'm 99% sure she takes a perverse pleasure in making her readers squirm by ripping out their heart and stomping all over them, I had no idea where this story was going to end up. She's more than made up for my previous suffering by knocking this one out of the park. One of the things that I enjoy about Claire C. Riley is that she doesn't always take the easy path with her stories. While this often makes me nervous and has me chewing my nails, I have to admit, she certainly keeps her readers on their toes. While I'm on this, don't become attached to all the characters because you know some aren't going to make it lol.

This book has finished off my year of reading perfectly. I loved it. Claire C. Riley has brought out the big guns and once again delivered a gritty, hard-hitting book that you can lose yourself in. Now, the dreaded question every author hates...when are we getting book VIII??? ;)

Arc provided in exchange for an honest review.

If you are reading this it means that most of view are familiar with this saga and you know the characters, the story and you probably can’t wait to put your hands on this 7th book. Well the wait is over and a word of advice: try to clear your calendar because once you start reading you won’t be able to stop!!!!!

We pick up where the previous book stopped : Mickey has escaped from the savages and was rescued by O’Donnell ( don’t get me started on her grrr..) and Nina and her bikers. But in his confused state he went straight to O’Donnell’s waiting arms without seeing Nina who did not say anything believing Mickey would be better off with that B**** since she lost her arm and doesn’t know what the future holds for her.

So at the beginning of book 7, Mickey thinks Nina is dead and he suffers from serious PTSD. Nina is no better and has to adapt to her new reality and find the will to live. So it’s going to be a rough journey for our heroes who both want to get their revenge on the savages. Will they succeed without losing themselves in the process???
As usual Claire puts our chatacters through the ringer but they are surrounded by great secondary characters. I especially enjoyed seeing Nina with her bikers ( I love Highlander!!) and other characters you will love to hate !

So don’t hesitate to pick up this book if you loved the previous ones and if you are new to Odium well what are you waiting for... start reading this saga immediately because it’s a perfect cocktail of action and romance with a real badass heroin.

Thank you Claire for these books and I can’t wait to read book 8 especially alter this sneak peek....

Alex, a fan from France.

P.S I’m going back to the world of Red Eye season 2 which is another great series by Claire and Eli Constant with a slightly different format but still in the world of a Zombie Apocalypse with great characters. Also loved « thicker than blood » by Claire and Madeline Sheehan. Absolutely loved this one - I was bawling my eyes out at the end of this one be warned!!

“Together, or not at all.”

Time in this case is not a healer, both Nina and Mickey are ghosts. Going through the motions, their bodies alive but their hearts dead, having lost the part of them that made the struggle worth while. Anger and vengeance are the only emotions keeping them going as the strive to wreak pain and revenge to those that have caused their devastation.

Nina is coming to terms with the loss of her hand, feeling helpless brings out her bitch side even more but she’s surrounded by a community that rely on her, that look to her for leadership. Shooter is man that knows the sands of time are sliding through his fingers but he can’t stop the inevitable, it’s breaking him as he tries to grasp onto nothing but smoke.

Mikey, haunted by the things he witnessed and survived at the hands of the Savages, longs for things lost. Desperate to find his calm he slowly realises that maybe he’s been misdirected, things are not adding up and it’s like the blinkers are suddenly removed from his eyes.

The Savages are close, coming together once again to end the wickedness. Can Haven and The Highwaymen survive the fallout? Blood will be shed, people will die but can they pave a way to a brighter future?

Ok so here’s the truth... I had ugly tears rolling down my cheeks by 16% in. From there on in I was caught on a rollercoaster of emotion. My heart broke for Shooter but in the end you don’t choose who you love, no matter how hard you try you can’t force the feelings. I love the comedic scenes with Joan, never failing to make me smile whilst providing invaluable clues! The deception is unforgivable and I just can’t help wish the O’Donnell had found her permanent ending maybe at the end of a spear... harsh I know but she gets under my skin. I absolutely love this series. It has been my favourite of 2020 as I was late to the party and binge read them all. One not to be missed!

This book is so worth the wait.

I Loved this book, this series is one of the first Zombie series I read. A year has passed since we left where we left book 6.
Nina is torn and she is filled with grief and rage. Micky is living in Haven and he isn't the man he was. Nina and Mickey still don't know each other is alive each think the other is dead.

They are both out for revenge against the savages, So action packed from the start will having you turning the pages to find out what's going happen. I not going say much other that what I have as if you have read the other books in this series you know your in for a Bumpy ride. Just enjoy and if you haven't started this series yet then it is a MUST. I can't wait to see what is going to happen next.

This series continues to blow my mind!!!! Odium VII was one of my most anticipated books of 2020 and it did not disappoint. A year has passed since the events that went down at the end of book 6. Nina is trying to come to terms with a life without Mikey and who she is after the loss of her arm, struggling with her frustrations and seeing herself as weak, Nina is stuck in a bleak mentality. Her journey throughout the book see's the Queen B of old making an epic comeback. But with a little help from Highlander, Balls and Shooter Nina finds the warrier Queen she really is once again. I found her inspirational in her ability to adapt and survive and just be badass no matter what comes her way.

Mikey is back at Haven seemingly recovered from his ordeal with the savages, however as the novel progresses we see Mikey is struggling with his memories of what he saw during his capture, as well as believing Nina is dead is another battle he faces to let go of his love for her and be happy with O'Donnell. My heart ached for him so much in these moments, his vulnerability is a stark contrast to the harsh world he lives in.

Claire never fails to surprise me with this series, even seven books in I still have no clue what's coming. The twists and turns in the plot and character developments continue to shock me, rip my heart out and make me fall in love with this world even more. Odium VII brings us enemies old and new, both living and dead, plenty of characters we know and love. A special shout out to Highlander as his humour and devil may care attitude just brings some much needed levity to an intense book. Back that up with the off the wall escapades of Crazy Pants and you can't not have a huge smile on your face.

One thing that won't surprise you as a fan of this series is that people die.... shock horror I know.....and that is one thing Odium has by the bucket load is death. Claire's outstanding writing means that you care about every single one of her characters, the depth she gives them makes the reader feel as if you know them. If a character feels fear, love, anger, hopelessness, determination, sadness or elation you feel it right along with them. I felt as though I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I daren't get complacent because I knew that's when a curveball would blindside me and I wasn't wrong!

I can't sing this books praises enough, if you take a risk on any series then this is the one to gamble with. I am already chomping at the bit for Odium VIII and I have only just devoured this one.

“Sometimes living is harder than dying,”
~(Joan, aka Crazy Pants, aka the chicken lady)- ODIUM VII- Claire C Riley

Wow, just freaking WOW!!!
I couldn’t predict this plot! Odium VII is more brutal and emotional than ever... the quest for vengeance against the Savages starts with Nina’s heartbreaking comeback.
Claire writes yet another gripping instalment, I was riveted from start to finish, Odium VII is more gut-churning and emotionally nerve-racking- I was on tenterhooks throughout but as always Claire cleverly injects humour, witty banter, and some of the unforgettable moments.

Seeing Nina about to break shredded pieces of me, pieces that I may never again find... but as she adjusted her Queen B crown, the resilience and determination to slay her demons slowly patched my tattered heart together. With my breath held anticipating... waiting... needing a reunion between her and Mikey.

And, feeling every devastating blow to Mikey’s mental defences as his facade to hide the haunting memories of the torture from the Savages begins to fall apart. Combined with him struggling to accept the loss of Nina and trying to make things work with O’Donnell. Gahhh, my heart was a bleeding mess.

My personal favourite highlights have been Highlander’s humour- he had me LOL far too many times to count. And Joan- oh my word!!, she remains a hoot with her chickens and *ahem* extra circular activities... SMH until she gives Mikey the lifeline he needed

And, a moment of silence for the growing death toll in this series... why do you hurt me so much 😭😭

This book parallels so many aspects of life- in many ways we are no different from them.

“In a world filled with so many villains, I couldn’t fathom someone who would choose to make more enemies.”

ALL THE STARS, #SAVAGENOMORE

ARC received in exchange for an honest review.

A year has gone by and Nina is filled with rage and grief for her many losses. Only one thing remains the same: her hate for the Savages and the desire for their death.

I have waited sooooo long for this book, ( same as everyone else lol) and it was worth the wait!

I was very irritated with Nina for the first 13-16% of the book, begging her to give herself a shake, understandable though with the circumstances, but then she gets herself sorted and it’s back to fighting for their cause.

I have followed this series from the start and each book just brings me closer to each different character, yes, even Crazy Pants!! I always think I know what will happen, but have resigned myself to expect the unexpected. This is a great thing, by the way!

As with all books in the series, there is no shortage of loss, but there are also happy times too. Old faces, new faces, some friends and some foes.

Claire’s ability to pull you along on the journey with the characters in the story is amazing, every range of emotion, you feel it too, and for me, that’s a very rare and special thing.

I read in another book somewhere, if you’re going through Hell, keep on going, this series, I think, embodies that saying.

I’ve just finished this book and can’t wait for the next, I’m just greedy for more! This is one of my favourite series and don’t think I’ll ever want it to end!

Claire, keep doing what you do, we all love what you put out!!

1- 8 book series so far review
Waiting on book 9

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
❤️❤️❤️/5
🌶🌶.5/5

This series is one I walked into not know much about. Sure I read the description and some of the reviews but that didn't even describe what I was about to read. This series is all about details and I love every mind of it! The author did a wonderful job putting thought into every character, chapter, romance and chemistry there is. This series will keep you on your toes and will stop at nothing to keep the romance, adventure, sadness, and overall plot together.

What I love the most:
- characters: all of them even the evils ones are so thought our and do their jobs to the fullest.
- Though sometimes the two main characters don't get a break the end of the world never stops giving people hardship and that's just reality.

What is wish was different:
- I wanted more of MMC and FMC to have a little bit more togetherness and romance in book 1. This series focus on them and their story I wish we had more of them time before everything went to shit..
- Sex I need more detailed sex.. for a author to have so much detail ok the plot she puts a tad bit into the sex part and I need moreeeeeee
- ok and I have so many flipping questions... like...where is little Adam, will Nina and Mike see high way Crew again, I know it's the end of the world but will we get to slow down and have Nina and Mike a home?, I need to know more...
- I love love love shooter and will we get to see his happy ever after!?

Odium VII - 5 starlights 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Oh wow! This was so good! Full of anguish, pain and joy - I’m a little emotional right now.

The story starts a year after the events at the end of book 6. Both Mickey and Nina are still apart and fighting even darker demons and trying to heal their inner and outer scars. Nina’s story was incredible in this book - from being completely shattered and hopeless, her journey once again brings her face to face with the Nina she once was. However, this time it’s not Mikey by her side but Shooter and her new family. I loved my Nina in this! This bad-ass woman is truly incredible!

Meanwhile, Mikey is back at Haven, in the arms of O’Donnell (hmmm...) and appearing to have recovered from his encounter with the Savages. However, all is not what it seems, and we soon realise that he too is struggling and still tortured by his horrific ordeal. Just like Nina, Mickey is putting up a brave front but inside, he is lost, he is vulnerable, he is devastated. My heart hurt for him so much - I sobbed a lot seeing him like this.

Odium VII brings us characters old and new, both living and dead, enemies united and out for vengeance; estranged loved ones in pain and turmoil and so much death! Then there was the rest of my favourites- our sizzling hot Shooter, the charming Scotsman, Highlander (One of my favourites) Balls and good old Crazy Pants Joan, always there to entertain me and make me laugh and ugly cry.

I’ve been reading this series for so long now and even whilst reading book seven, Claire continued to surprise and shock me! The plot twists, character developments and world building was mind-blowing! Claire kept me on edge all throughout because I know she can (with ease) crush my heart and delight me with the turn of a page and I must admit I was excited and super nervous whilst reading this.

This whole series is just brilliant - truly believable, frightening, heartbreaking. I highly recommend it to everyone.

« How can we love in a world full of death ? »

« How could there be so much beauty in so much ugly? »

Finally, book 7 in the Dead Saga is out, the wait’s been long but the payout is… bloody insane!

I hope you’re ready for more Nina, aka Queen B, and her smart mouth. She definitely makes life more colorful with it !

« Queen B? » I asked with an arch of my eyebrow. « Figured you’re a massive bitch that deserves a crown to go with it! »

« Revenge is on both of their minds, their mutual hatred for the Savages continually driving them on toward an uncertain future. Together or apart, their enemy is the same, and they both cling to the hope of taking the head of the one who stole everything from them. »

I knew this book was going to be fabulous and Claire more than delivered. This saga grabs hold of you and doesn't let go. I'm always left wanting more. Mikey and Nina have been through hell and back. Fans of this saga are going to be screaming at the pages. It has it all the violence, the action, the heartache, betrayal, sexiness, and alpha biker hotness. I loved it all.
Shooter has this something that can't be denied, I cant wait to see what the future books brings.

I don't know what to write! It's soooo perfect and I was so overwhelmed and emotional while reading it I find it hard to even remember what I read! Secrets are getting harder to keep that's for sure, and the revenge everyone wants is within their very eager grasps, but it will not come without a cost. It's brutal, no holds bard war. It's vicous and beautiful and I loved every second of it! Thank you so much for this world and I am very very scared to see what you come up with next!

Exceeding all expectations of how awesome this new book would be.
We have been waiting for this book for a while and what a thrilling installation for the series. Claire has a knack for putting together toe curling horrors and fear into these books.
This series hasn't gotten boring yet, each new addition bringing horrifying and unique situations, making those pages turn into the very early morning hours.
Fantastic read.

Most of the book sets things up for the final showdown between the Highwaymen, Rejects, and Haven against The Savages, who are the more horrendous people you can imagine. Yes, people we care about are going to lose their lives, but they know the sacrifice they are making for the greater good. It also sets up Nina and Mikey on a collision course that Shooter and O'Donnell (as well as many others) have been trying to avoid happening for the past year. And although I was somewhat conflicted about what I wanted to happen, I'm beyond thrilled about how things ended up for Nina.

Seriously, this series is beyond amazing - if you give it a shot, you won't regret it at all! Definitely looking forward to part VIII to see where things go from here!

Dang. Was it always this sad and gory? I really didn’t like the sarcastic main character last year when I started this series. But… I wasn’t in the mood to find a new series so I went back to it. I don’t remember the other books being so brutally detailed in the body slashing.

Mikey and Nina together again.
I however really like Shooter - I hope there is some happiness for him in the future.
