In a small town, rests a hallowed estate shrouded in secrecy…
Mystery and horror surround a long-abandoned estate, seemingly forgotten by the town. What was thought to be a new beginning for Julia soon devolves into an endless nightmare of hidden secrets and a troubled past best left unturned.
I enjoyed the premise of this book but it could have used a lot more editing! I slogged my way through it because I was intrigued by the mystery of it all. The frequent changing of spelling of key characters name ( Stephen, Stephan ) and awkward phrases ( haunted occasionally for the rest of his life) were very distracting. There were numerous incidents throughout. I was disappointed in final chapter as it really didn't satisfy. It seemed contrived to assure a HEA
I thought this was a very well written ghost story with a twist I did not see coming. The characters were well rounded and easy to identify with. This is my first book by this author, and I look foward to readign more.
I enjoyed the book very much. The story was creative in its own way thank you tell you what you keep writing them and ill keep reading them sincerely Christine Dunne Harlingen Texas
My kindle tells me I got 30% of the way through the book. I just could NOT get into it.
I love a good haunting book and was excited to see this 17 set of "The Haunting of..." series on my Kindle Unlimited Page. As a librarian, books for free always excite me.
However, a third of the way in, and it's just unrealistic, things don't follow in a logical progression, there's no backstory, no real plot yet, and no character development. I find myself not really caring how it ends up. That's when I know it's time to put a book down.
Mediocre storyline made worse by horrible grammar and spelling issues.
In addition to needing way better proofreading and editing, I felt the storyline was a bit mundane and the bad guy was super predictable. It felt like the characters' thoughts were repeated far too many times. Not a favorite, which is surprising because I really like almost everything I read.
Aunt Lilith lived in a beautiful estate, fostered kids, but someone wanted her house and killed her for it. But she had a will and left the house to her sister's daughter and son in law. But they could never sell it.
This book ended up being not quite what I expected. However, I still enjoyed it.
Julia is a case worker and her husband, Tyler, is a school teacher. They live in the city with their son and are struggling financially. They both love what they do but don't get paid much to do it. They start to have hope that their situation could change when they learn of the unfortunate death of Julia's Aunt Lilith and the inheritance that she left Julia. The beautiful estate Lilith owned with her two young foster children. Julia and her family move into the beautiful home but it's not the picture perfect home she was hoping for. With Lilith's mysterious death, the two children missing, and the town full of nasty gossip, it hasn't been a very easy road for the family in this new home. While trying to settle in eerie things keep happening and their forced to consider that the house may be haunted. Which also leads them to question exactly how Lilith died and what happened to the children?
This book was definitely a very easy and entertaining read. I REALLY love horror -stories, books, movies - the creepier the better! So this book was very very mild for me. However, if you like a good ole ghost story with a twist this would be for you. Especially if you want to get into horror but only want to dip your toes, I'd suggest this to start out with! I will say don't go into it expecting a written masterpiece. The dialogue and writing is a bit slower but it just makes it easier to plow through.
“Her diary was her only confidant…” 🩰 Lilith may live in a sprawling, Victorian estate nestled deep within snowy mountains, but the shadows, secrets, and ever-present threats often keep her up at night. Foster kids, funerals, murders, ghosts, goosebumps, beneficiaries, violent predilections, and missing children blend with broken lightbulbs, creepy basements, hidden panic rooms, and eerie whispers.
Will superstitious suspicions keep everyone away, or will some distant family members inherit the property and learn to call it home? I did encounter a few typos with misspelled words and misspelled character names while reading, and even though they didn’t dramatically impact my overall enjoyment of the story as a whole, they did still give this one some moderate room for improvement. The plot was well-developed and well-paced throughout, so I do plan to read some other related books in this series!
Quite an enjoyable read. Well written for all ages and religious paths.
Wasn't sure what to expect at the books start. The initial write up was what caught my attention. As I began reading, warming up page by page my interest continued to peak. The plot intrigue and characters immersion intensified; I just couldn't put the book down. Before I knew it I'd come to the end. Oh, what a Fabulous time well spent while enthusiastically reading this book; I WILL support the author. Reading this book was an awesome adventure! PottsvillePA_MON; 01042021.
This book is definitely a book that you can't put down. The mystery behind the deaths in the beautiful house, the real danger of owning the house, and the lives impacted because of one man's greed and another's desires to live a better life and save someone he loved dearly.
This is such a well written, exciting book that I am sad to see it end. But I will definitely follow this author and get my hands on anything else they write. Great scary story to read! I won't give away anything but I say give it a shot and grb yourself a copy. Enjoy it!!
This was an interesting ghost story, although I didn't find it spooky, since the living were more of a threat than the dead. I would have been happy to give four stars except for the typos that needed sorting and I was a tad dubious about the reaction of the people in the town and the response of the police after a crime was committed. Otherwise I found The Haunting of Whitecrest Estate intriguing enough to make me read to the end.
What a phenomenal author and amazing book! Basically a family of 3 living on the brink of losing it all find themselves with a potentially wonderful home as an inheritance. The catch being they cannot sell it. Of course there's a reason and it'll blow u away when u find out what it is ..
The plot was slightly different than I expected, heavier on the mystery than the paranormal. The writing was good, and the plot was good. Although, I did figure all of it out. It's a dun, quick read.
This book is not a terrifying ghost story but rather a story of love, loss and finally peace. I got a bit teary at the end which is unusual. If you enjoy old houses, ghosts and the complexity of tha human condition, read this book.
It was easy to spot the villain. The character developments was mediocre. The scene settings were marginal. The story failed to address, bring closure, to one of 3 individuals involved in the crime.
The book was good, but a little slow reading at first. It picked up it's pace about halfway through. The characters seemed a little stiff and unrealistic in places, too polite. The ending was good.
Clean tight story of betrayal, murder, and greed. Julie is a great protagonist and the villain is power hungry, perfect combination. Oh and there are ghosts.
The story was, at once, believeable and haunting at the same time. The suspense was bold and hearts broken. But love found a way, which is what makes it all worthwhile.
Interesting enough to finish if you have nothing else to do. Many basic spelling and grammar errors that detracted from the read. Needs better editing for that, story flow, and repetiveness.
The Haunting of Whiitecrest Estate: A Riveting Hau...
I really enjoyed this book and story very much. It was definitely a page turner and scary story all the way to the end.The outcome was very unexpected. I would definitely recommend this book to be read.
In the description of the area and the house FreeTime I was there!! Beautifully done! The thought that someone could tarnish a person's reputation is so not right! Thank you for this kind of heart felt story.
Good story line, but needed better character development.
I enjoyed the story. However, I found the main characters to be sappy. Julia's paranoia was too much. Tyler's support of Julia seemed to perfect and at times condescending.
This one was just ok for me... started having a bad feeling about who was involved with murder about half way in... the fear of protecting the the child/children borders on paranoia before anything really actually happens..
I really rate this book a 3 1/2 stars. The concept of the book was nice but I do feel editing needed to be done a little better. It wasn’t a scary story so I would recommend it for anybody who likes a ghost story without the scare.
I thought this was a horror/ghost book but it actually wasn't. It has ghosts but they're the friendly kind. The plot was fine even though I found it predictable and unoriginal. It's just "ok" as a book.
Julia wanting a fresh start in this small town did not get that. An abandoned estate held deadly secrets, and nightmares. The characters and narration were good. Given audio for my voluntary
