"An unexpected evil brings both the MC and Military world together in this brand new series by J.M. Walker"
He wants to be alone. Nightmares from his past keep him guarded and afraid. Vice-One is his life. They’re his brothers—the only people who helped keep him out of his own head long enough to move on from the childhood he never asked for.
His therapy has been protecting his country, barely taking a break before beginning his next mission. But no amount of training can prepare him for his great challenge yet—convincing Meeka Cline that she will be his.
She wants out. Her world fell apart when King’s Harlots no longer trusted her, but she continues to fight to gain back their respect. All she wants is to help those wronged by the evil that has put a shadow on everyone she knows. Asher Donovan comes to her for help when he needs her most only to have passion flare up between them. One problem: He’s her best friend.
Putting aside their friendship, they use the heat between them to please the depraved minds they now understand…

After reading Grit, I was invested in these characters. But I will say I was surprised we got Meeka’s story first over Max’s but I get it now.
I LOVED that the books over lapped, it really made it feel like part of the series as a whole. My heart goes out to both Meeka and Asher, what they had to go through in this book. I know it wasn't just for their friends but it was for the girls that were being taken too. But I felt a lot of things really became clear with this book.
Seeing Jay through Meeka’s eyes…yeah I was kind a like get over it already your safe your twin is safe… Sorry I had to lie to you. But Meeka wasn't like that at all she so could have been and been justified doing it in my opinion.
I love a friends to lovers story and knowing Asher always turned to Meeka even when they were young, made my heart melt in to a puddle. Meeka putting up road blocks was kinda sweet too, does that make me weird? I liked that she didn't make it easy on him.
A great addition to this series, I can’t wait for the next full length novel.
*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*
Stain is the 2nd in the King Harlots MC series and what a read it was! This could be read as a standalone but to get the full effect of the characters and story line I feel like it would be necessary plus you'd be missing out on a clever, and ingenious series.
This is Meeka (Harlot) and Asher (Vice-One) story and trust me it was a wild and crazy ride. I loved these two together. I thought that they brought a lot to the story. Their chemistry was on fire! I was glad of the whole best friends scenario. Who doesn't love when two characters that are friends realize that they want each other? They have some obstacles in their way. Asher feels like she deserves better.
"Meeka was the piece of me that was stolen as a child. She was the warmth and goodness I craved. If she only knew how I felt. But I wasn't a good man. She deserved better. She didn't deserve a broken man."
I loved Meeka. She was a feisty character that gave as good as she got! I loved how once she realized how much she loved him that she loved him unconditionally.
"He wasn't a monster. He wasn't his stepfather. He was so much more. He was one of the best men I know. And I would do everything in my power to make him see that."
The storyline pulled me in from the get go and I couldn't put it down. I thought I knew where the story was going to go but as always JM changes things up and kept me guessing.
I enjoyed the secondary characters. They have filtered through from Grit to now, never overpowering. Just enough to make me want their stories...like yesterday.
I read this immediately after #1. It follows a similar structure, with lots of angst, sex, intrigue, and betrayal. However, the H and h are so dysfunctional that it became annoying. The background reasons are horrific, but the angst overwhelmed the plot. Also, the author lost track of time and place more than once. One important factor about the Harlots was addressed, which is good.
Regarding the sex scenes: they are passionate to the point of painful, but they are not clinical. Lots of heated looks and sweaty sheets, but they lack details on which body parts are tingling and why. And everyone wakes up sore. Still, very erotic.
I will read the next one in hopes of returning to stronger writing.
I received this book from the author for an honest review.
WHAT!! Asher…and…..Meeka! OMG this book was so good…like way better then book Jay and Angel and that was a great book too!!!
OMG SO Asher and Meeka totally had me wiggling my eye brows at the two of them. They had this chemistry but hid behind the “best friend” lines. When Asher needs his best friend to go undercover he gets Meeka involved. She doesn’t want to but the argument leads to a scorching kiss and has both of them shaking their heads. Meeka is like “What the heck? Why am I reacting to my BEST FRIEND this way?” However, Asher finally admits to his true lifelong feelings to himself about how he feels about Meeka. I loved the friends to lovers story line. They are both a mess and wanting it but so scared of ruining the best friend status they have had for years. They both want what the other has to offer but are so scared to want it. The story of them falling in love is an amazing journey. AMAZING!!!
Now the story that is going along with them two falling in love is with the traffickers again. Asher is undercover trying to bring own this area of the ring. Asher and Meeks meet with the leader and CREEPY doesn’t even do that man justice. Plus the little spark he has for our Meeka…yeah Alpha Asher is not cool with it at allllllll.
The twist in the book was great and totally something I didn’t think would happen…..I loved the story and felt the ending scenes were a little bit rushed BUT that gave way to the feel of what was happening all around at the end of the story! It was ANARCHY!!!! As always with me, I wanted a longer epilogue but that is because I am an epilogue girl! I am also excited for Colby and Brogan because that man is locked up tighter then Fort Asher!!
Stain is book 2 in the King’s Harlot series and it was a great 5 star read.
This was a great read that involves Asher and Meeka working undercover. Meeka and Asher have always been there for each other throughout the years. I had a level of frustration with Asher but grew to love him. The connection between these two is magnetic and when they finally realize and admit their feelings for each other it was great.
You are immediately drawn in with this story. You won’t want to put it down. There is Suspense, danger, hot sex and romance. There are definitely some unexpected surprises you won’t see coming. This is a great friends to lover read. Stain can be read as a stand alone but I highly suggest you read “Grit” first. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. Thank you J.M. Walker for a great read.

I met Asher and Meeka in With Love At Christmas: An Anthology and my heart bled for Asher and his backstory. I wanted to know more about this couple and where their story would take them. I read Rude (book 4) first and then went back and read Grit (book 1). Reading out of order in no way ruined this series for me. Asher and Meeka are best friends- have been for a long time. Now, Asher needs Meeks's help to bring down the organization that has threatened both the King's Harlots and Vice One. This is a great friends-to-lovers book, with lots of twists and jaw-dropping moments. Asher is a broken man, one that you want to see succeed and be happy because he damn well deserves it! You root for this couple because you need them to be together! I love the interaction with the other King's Harlot and Vice One members-drawing you in to the stories of Coby, Brogan, Dale and Max and making you want more of them all! I have most of the other books of this series on my Kindle (except the latest release I believe) so I will be reading them all because this series is simply addictive!! Thank you JM Walker for another great addition to this series!!! Loved it!
Soooo, Asher grabbed me from Grit and I couldn't wait to know more and I was not disappointed. Seeing and knowing more about Meeka and Asher's friendship was both great, because we get the learn more about these characters, and heartbreaking. The darkness in Archer that only she can calm, it was so palpable Walker did a great job of making you feel it. She also did a great job making you feel the heat between these two. While they are still trying to bring a end to the trafficking group, the two of them go undercover together. There's much more going on that Walker isn't letting us in on, because people know things they shouldn't. I swear I almost threw my Kindle!! She's evil keeping us suspended on the edge of our seats about who's behind the scenes and I can't wait to find out more. The Harlots and Vice-One seem to getting more in twined in each other and I can't wait to find out who's next and if Dale is gonna man up or not! I also need to know more about Brogan and Coby!! Let's just leave it at I need more of everything!!
In order to prepare for Stain, I did a quick re-read of Grit. I forgot how much enjoyed it. However Stain takes the cake! I loved Asher and Meeka. They are the couple that needs each other more than anything!
I love JM's books, but this one combined all that I love: Military, MC, Suspense, and Romance. It sucks you in from the moment you begin to read and you want to keep reading to find out what's going to happen next. I thought I knew what was coming and then bam you get thrown for a loop. I'm still trying to figure out exactly how the pieces are going to fit together for the next book. The characters are well developed (you must read Grit first!) and pull at your heart strings. Asher is broken, but you love him even more for it.
This is one of my favorite reads from JM. It will be the book I recommend to everyone!
Loved this book, I became very attached to the characters Asher and Meeka. We don't really know Meekas story, but Asher is brooding, withdrawn angry man, who loves hard. The story gets into some very disturbing story lines, but in a way that's compelling to read, the world we live in is not always a pretty place. The MC and military together are creating a hard loving group that will stand their ground for what they believe in. This book has it all, danger, hate, love and sex, and above all ownership to ones self. Can't wait for the next book. This book can be read as a standalone but to fully enjoy the understanding of characters you should read book one, Grit.
I fell in love with the King's Harlots series reading Grit, I anxiously and impatiently waited for Stain and was absolutely blown away by it!
The story line grabbed my attention it's emotional, deep and satisfying enough to keep me up reading the whole night! The characters are hot, complex and lovable they grabbed my heart and took it for a heck of a ride. I can't wait for another book in this series.
This is not your typical MC series... it's so much more !
I loved this book more than the 1st! Friends to lovers isn't really my favorite trope but this story was written well. I'm invested in seeing how this whole sex trafficking ring is brought down!
Great continuation to the series. Loved the characters and loved that I was able to see the same characters from Grit. Definitely eager to start book 3 now!
Stain is book 2 in the King's Harlots series, if your not familiar this series will probably be a new twist for you with an all female MC and a group of Alpha Seals.
I'll admit that the author is on my auto read list, that it really doesn't matter what she writes, I'm going to read it. But when the idea for a female MC was introduced I knew I'd love the books. While these books can be read on their own I recommend reading them in order, if not your missing out on some vital information.
Stain is Ash & Meeka's story. Ash is a tortured soul. There are things he can't get over in his life but Meeka calms the inner beast. His best friend is the only one who knows what it takes to help him and he's grateful for that. Things are great between them until Ash is forced to bring Meeka in on a job she want's no part of. Even if it's wrong he intends to guilt her into accepting.
Meeka isn't the King's Harlots favorite member. Things from the past have caused their fearless leader not to trust her and in turn everyone else is skeptical. She refuses to give up though, she will earn their trust back, get the sisterhood back on solid ground. She's struggling to get there and when her best friend Asher asks for her help on a job she can't face the idea of getting involved in again. This is what caused all the problems with her MC to begin with. But Ash knows what buttons to push, knows how to get her to agree. She feels horrible for turning him down and goes to him to accept.
This job is a bit different though. Meeka has to go in as Ash's submissive. This could be a problem considering he's her best friend. And the fact that she's now looking at him in a completely different way. When things heat up between best friends they really heat up, Ash and Meeka are explosive together! Their working to shut down a sex ring but Asher has his own struggles that may be a bit too much, lucky for him Meeka is his calm and is there to get him through no matter what it takes.
It was great to catch up with Angel and Jay sporadically throughout this story, there are so many secondary characters worth a mention I can't possibly go into detail on them all but Charles Brian. This guy would scare the devil himself, I don't think there's a drop of humanity in his body. He is the epitome of evil.
Stain is fairly fast paced, action packed and sexy as hell. It's a great addition to the series that brought so much more than I was expecting.
Charles Brian. This guy is so far out there, I don't think there's a drop of humanity in him
Stain by J.M. Walker Asher & Meeka HOLY COWZ...VERY INTENSE STORY 5 Stars
So, this is the second installment into the King's Harlots series and it just keeps getting better. This was an action packed emotional roller coaster and that tore me up. Such grit and mayhem infused with sex appeal and peppered with humor. You can't go wrong with this beautiful story.
Asher is on VICE-One and a Navy Seal. He's trying like hell to shut down a sex trading ring. He's inserted himself and Meeka into the dark world of monsters. On top of this mindfuck he's entered into, he's dealing with his own battles that seem to stay at bay when Meeka is around. What is this dude thinking? He needs some serious help!
Meeka is part of the King's Harlots MC and still kind of on the outs with Jay the MC President due to some past shit. Meeka is a good girl. The girl nextdoor if you will. She's quiet, poised, but always ready for anything. That is until Asher asks for her help in taking down this sex trafficking ring. Holy hell, how freaking scary. I cringed every time she had to meet with that evil jerk Charles.
The supporting character cast is fairly large. I think I'll only mention a few. It was nice to see Angel and Jay making appearances here and there. I hated that fucker Tyler... but then again... I hated him in the first book Grit. He's still not my fave, but plays an outstanding villain. Now this Charles Brian, holy freaking hell. This guy makes Charles Manson and Jeffrey Dahmer look like the Pope. I don't think there's any human left in him, he's mostly all monster.
So, to say this was good is an understatement. It was fanfuckingtastic! Stain has a great storyline that just keeps you guessing. I loved the characters, good and bad. I was pleasantly surprised at the outcome, but still somewhat perplexed as to where this is going to go in the next installment. Can't wait to see! The pacing is perfect and the dialogue flows nicely. Great job Jo.
Soooooooo, where to begin? Hmmmmm....well...let me start by stating that this topic is not for the faint of heart. In fact, some people may even categorize this as borderline dark. But let me say that although the topic has a dark tone, I've read WAY DARKER (Hellloooo Kitty - I love you) and this ain't it. If you've read the first book in this series, then you're aware that the evil being implied is indeed pure hell. If you haven't read the first book, then you need to stop reading this review and pick it up because although you "could" read this as a standalone, I HIGHLY recommend you don't. So I'm going to continue this review as though you've read the first since I'll need to speak in code....lol
Asher Donovan is one of the SEAL's finest. His team not only saved our country, but has partnered up with the female MC King's Harlot in bringing down an organization that consists of the purest of evil. While working undercover, he's forced to bring in the one person he trusts most. The only person who truly knows him inside and out. The only person he's ever known to keep him grounded. His best friend Meeka Cline. But can she help him get through this?
Meeka is a member of the KH, but there is still some serious tension between her and Jay thanks to her involvement with Violet and needing to keep secrets (THIS IS WHY YOU NEED TO READ THE FIRST BOOK, among other reasons). The tension and emotions only escalate to the highest degree when she's asked to go undercover with her best friend. It's at that moment that she realizes that they are and have always been more than just friends. But the stress of the mission and Asher's past is very difficult. Thank goodness she's a strong female who refuses to break, refusing to listen to anyone but herself and how SHE feels because my GAWD this girl is pushed to her limit, over and over again.
I really don't want to give away what the evil is, so unfortunately this is about all I can say about the topic side of this book. But I'd like to add that Asher and Meeka's story is something made of pure love. These two have known each other virtually their entire lives, knowing exactly how each other is. Or so they think. Until they themselves are forced to really look at each other. To trust each other. And of course, love each other. And boy oh boy, do they love each other.....over and over again.
*I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest opinion.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
Stain is the second book in JM Walkers series where the Military world joins the MC world. Grit is the first book. Although the you could probably read Stan as a standalone in my opinion read Grit first will enhance the experience of Stain since precious events are discussed.
Asher Donovan just wants to be alone. He had a childhood no one should have to endure thanks to his step father. Vice One is his therapy while along with his brothers, the only family he's ever known, protecting the county. Now he's undercover and must convince his best friend Meeka Cline to help him. She's a me end of the Kings Harlots MC. An all female MC. She's is no longer trusted by her sisters and only wants that trust back. She's has known Asher since childhood though and would do anything for him. Both on a mission to put away the depraved men who prey on innocent women Asher and Meeka find themselves in danger using the heat between them to help keep their cover. Can two best friends really cross the line to lovers and survive with that friendship only growing into the love of their lives?
I will be the first to say I was not to crazy about Grit. I felt like for a book containing a female MC they really never did anything, Stain however is action packed from the beginning to the end. I felt like I was reading a different series and I loved it. Asher and Meeka are two amazing characters and their chemistry will overheat your kindle. They have been best friends for forever and I loved how one supported the other no matter what. Asher is one messed up man from his childhood and Meeka his his light in the darkness and I love this relationship. There is a major line that friends to lovers have to cross all while weighing if it's worth it. In Stain it makes for one great story. Mixed wi love, passion, danger, and some dark elements it had me reading from start to finish.
Don't miss this book. J M Walker has blown me away with Stain. I'm so glad I got to read and review it. I so can not wait for the next book. If your a fan of action packed books full of dark dangerous things your nightmares are made of but also full of passion and heat then Stain is a book you do not want to miss.
All I can say this book lived up to everything, I thought it would be and more. I loved reading Asher and Meeka story from being best friends to so much more. This is Stain by JM Walker. “I’m not leaving you Hummingbird. We’re in this together. I promise you that.” “Of course. You never asked anything of me. Never expected anything in return after all of those nights I helped you through your nightmares.” These two have not had it easy at all, but somehow they’ve leaned on each other throughout the years. I did at times get frustrated with Asher and how acted at times, but then I realize he was going through something deeper than, I thought. I loved Meeka even though she felt guilty about Jay sister and she tried everything to make it up to her, but all she every wanted was to belong in the group. This book had me from the first page till the last. I couldn’t wait to see how these two made it out this situation and it would it make them stronger. The answer to that, is yes it did. In this book you get lots of drama with a very good storyline, some very HOT sexy scenes, but an overall really damn good book that you will enjoy till the end. “Baby, I am only as strong as the woman beside me. You are beside me. Not in front. Not behind. Beside. We are equal.” I can say that JM Walker always does a fantastic job writing a story and I can’t wait for the next book this series. Go give this book a 1-click and I promise you’ll love it as much as I did. “It never crossed my mind that I could fall in love with my best friend, but I thanked God every day that I had. And because of that, my world become complete.”
So this is the second in a series that can be read as a standalone – me I don’t like that because I want to know the back story of the characters that already have a past. But I can say this was a good read and even for me the beginning pages made me squirm a little bit. I mean if you don’t like gore then don’t pick this up .. its from page one.
Asher is Vice One and has thrown himself deep into a human trafficking situation. That is not the word for it but I don’t know what else to say that would be allowed. This is one evil sadist that we are dealing with. Meeka is forced into a situation that Asher is going to have to handle. Meeka has to come in to this job as his submissive in order for them to bring down the human trafficking. Meeka wanting no part of what she is about to embark on knows what is about to happen is something she will never be able to pull from her mind. Asher doesn’t want to bring his best friend into the situation he is about to but there is no one else that he can trust.
Charles Brian is a man that is beyond evil. I have never in my life read a character has horrific as him. I don’t know how he came to pass in JM’s mind but dang girl. This one is a little rough so beware. This is one messed up dude. I don't even really have the words to describe his character.
I cant say much more except that you will want to pick up the next if you start here. I cant imagine what is going to happen moving forward.
Thank you JM for the chance to read. Review to post to Ramblings From Beneath The Sheets.
Stain picks up after the events in Grit and focuses on Meeka and Asher. They've been best friends for years, but an unexpected visit forces their relationship in a more satisfying direction! Meeka is a member of the all-female King’s Harlot MC. Asher is a Navy Seal who’s team is on a covert mission to bring down an sex trafficking ring. The two join forces to go undercover. This is a great second installment! Although I wasn't a huge fan of the first book in the series, I'm coming around. Stain is a solid book with a cohesive plot and great pace. The subject matter is much more focused and concise than the first book. The characters are well developed and relatable. The story is bit darker than my normal read, but that didn't take away from my enjoyment. This is a gritty, no holds barred kind of read. There are several elements (BDSM, kidnapping, abuse) presented that add to the mystery and intrigue, but may not be for everyone. I should point out these elements are background issues and do not play a major role in the relationship developing between the two main characters. This book is a perfect blend of dark romance and military drama. I give it 4 Naughty Girl Stars!
When you have demons so strong that they not only live in your mind their engrained in your soul, there's only 2 solutions fight or fuck !
When There is so much bad in the world that makes you want to do good. Being trained to do the right thing to protect the innocent is something that no matter what, it stays with you your whole life... And this job is no different, fight and protect! This is what they live and it's what they breathe.
But when faced with the reality of evil to the goddamn devil who's side will you take....
When you have a Stain running so deep that you don't think even the purity of a pretty hummingbird can save your soul,
or will this one be able to fly in there and land where no one has ever reached before.....
I already cant wait for the next instalment to find out some more answers, so far this has been a great series.
Complex, sexy and raw. Those are the three words I thought throughout reading Stain. Meeka and Asher are so perfect together. From best friends to lovers, a familiar, sometimes overwrought, theme in other books, but done so well here. Their bond as friends just makes them even stronger as a couple because they know each other so well, and complement each other in all the necessary ways. She's soft (but not in spirit) to his hard. She calms his tortured mind. He dominates her and brings out her submissive side. He cares for her and she in turn, cares for him in every possible way.
Vice-One and King's Harlots mesh together in a well developed way. I love the world JM Walker has created by bringing these two teams together and cannot wait to read more about this world.
Meeks and Aster story was one that will grip your heart ! From best friends to lovers the experience these two individuals went through and still came out in love was plain .. Fantastic Writing !!
The Harlots and Vice One find themselves again in the middle of the sex trafficking ring. But this time they went willingly .. as long as they stayed by each other's side they thought nothing could happen to them. They were both STRONG individuals. But when Charles and Tyler get into the mix you know all hell breaks loose.
Can Vice One save them ?? Or will they be in there own to survive ??
Stain is the 2nd book in the Kings Harlots Mc series. Meeka and Asher's story. This had me hooked from the first page with twists and turns, I found myself desperate to read quicker to find out where their story would take them. JM wrote this brilliantly, the story flows well keeping us on our toes til the very end. The love they very clearly share jumps off the page and wraps itself around your heart. The only thing I wish there was more of would have been more MC the Harlots have such potential to be badass it makes me want more. Fantastic 5* read. Would recommend.
You meet Asher and Meeka is the first book in the series. Asher works alongside Angel as a Navy Seal and Meeka is part of the King’s Harlots MC club run by Jay. You get introduced to these two in the first book and there story definitely was worth being told. I really enjoyed everything about this book. I have to admit that I still enjoyed Jay and Angel’s story a bit more than this one but it didn’t stop me rushing to the end to find out what happens.
This book was okay. I hated how the situation arose and went for Meeka and Asher. The dynamic that they wanted to highlight was ruined when he forcibly brought her into the real life issue of sex trafficking. He did the same thing that all those other men were doing and somehow she and he still fell in love. Definitely stockholders syndrome and it’s finest. In the end he does get help mentally for his issues, but I would’ve like to see some real progress between both of them and how a real relationship should be.
Also I’m surprised we got her story over Max’s first? What’s the deal there? The last book focused so much more on Max and Jay and Meeka was just a side character who was being incredibly shady the whole time.
Again, there is a lot of repetition in this book. “Pinched her chin” was used so much I started to skim over those sentences. Meeka and Asher didn’t even feel like different characters and Meeka only said things that Jay would’ve felt and know personally. It felt like this couple was another version of Jay and Angel that they somehow couldn’t be in the first book.
Story line however, the book was good. Even though it was terrible that Meeka got put into the situation she did, a lot of good things came from it. There was unexpected people who helped them towards the end, but I super dislike how the main bad guy magically got away and hasn’t been seen since Meeka and Asher were freed. I suppose that leaves plot armor for the next book.
Stain is the second book in the King’s Harlots MC series and it was darker than the first. This book was about Asher dealing with his childhood demons as well as Meeka who was his strength when the darkness enveloped him. From best friends to lovers, they had many obstacles to overcome before their journey ended. Well developed characters and storyline. Totally recommend it. On to the next book and can’t wait to read it 😁
Second book in the series but can be read without reading the first one. I enjoyed reading this one. Some touchy moments in this book but a great story line . I loved the characters and the chemistry. These two are two very strong characters who battle through a lot to get through to the end. But with them being as strong as they are it makes for a great enjoyable read. This book was emotional well written gripping from beginning to end. Highly recommend reading this one.
DISCLAIMER TO MY FELLOW GOODREADER This review is my personal opinion and may contain: spoilers, quotes, rants and swearing.
Meeka Cline is known as the quiet sister in King’s Harlots MC. Their group is few in numbers but they have each other’s back no matter the cost. Which is why she chose to go undercover with the FBI to help stop an international human trafficking ring. But what she did not realize was that her choices would cost her the sisterhood. When an opportunity that might make things right presents itself, it does not take much convincing to make another choice.
Asher Donovan is a member of the Navy SEAL team Vice-One. Their unit is a brotherhood that has faced many enemies together. But a new danger threatens to destroy them all. They stumbled across the trafficking ring by chance then made it their mission to take it down. Rid the world of the worst kind of evil. When the threat moves to the town he calls home, he is calls upon his best friend to assist him with a special assignment.
“Baby, I am only as strong as the woman beside me. You are beside me. Not in front. Not behind. Beside. We are equal.”
I’m kicking myself for not finishing this series years ago. Happy as fuck that I picked it back up. My goodness. The continuing storyline is dark, gritty and kind of soul crushing.
Cliffhanger – no (book #2 in series) POV - Asher & Meeka
