Two best friends. A secret profession. And a drunken confession.

When you've been best friends with someone since you were kids, they should know all your secrets, right? Mine has no idea what I do for a living. Duncan thinks I’m a freelance copywriter. Little does he know I actually write dirty stories for voracious readers.

When writer’s block comes knocking, I find myself revealing the truth after one too many drinks. Duncan’s offer of help has us blurring the lines of our friendship. And now I can’t get what we did out of my head.

I think I want more from my best friend, but I'm too afraid to tell him. Do I risk it all for a chance at love with the man who knows me inside out? Or did that one drunken night ruin our friendship for good?

Looking for a dirty talking, sexy British hero? Grab a copy of this short, very steamy contemporary erotic romance.

Dirty Author, by Sarah Bailey discusses the terrifying issue of writer’s block. Talia, known to most people in her life as a boring ass copywriter, writes a series of successful erotic romance books. Normally, she’s an extremely efficient writer, but as of late she’s hit a brick wall. Some might diagnose this as a result of stress or health issues getting in the way of productivity. But as her best friend Duncan would probably say…”girl just ain’t been getting enough dick!” It’s true though, no matter how crude a thought, that T hasn’t been getting the inspiration she needs to get her romance tales off the ground. No, you don’t need to actually be a sex crazed headboard cracker to write good erotic stories…but it sure might be worth a shot!

Ok, let’s just slow it down a little. Given that setup, it’s easy to jump to conclusions and think this will be a quickie erotica style story with the hot BFFs dropping their walls and Talia fucking her way to a bestseller before going back to “normal.” And while these characters sure could have gone down that very path, there’s a depth to explore between T and Duncan that goes that extra mile. Certainly, inspiration for a sexual story can come from experiencing it first hand, but in this case it’s about who you’re opening yourself up to. Duncan and T are about as close as two friends can get, but have always considered themselves to be polar opposites when it came to sex, with love as the last thing on Duncan’s mind. Still, Duncan becomes captivated with her friend’s passion after learning about her past works, as well as her current problem. Duncan tries to help Talia find this missing inspiration, and doing it sexually (even if he only meant it to be playful fully clothed “acting”) he’s helping reclaim this artistic expression in the only way he knows how. She’s got the pen, and he’s got the passion. The book is saved…but then it’s time to deal with the feelings which becomes a brilliantly tight examination of this friendship.

Books written by experienced authors about fictional authors tend to have a bit of an autobiographical nature to them, at least at a 50,000 foot view. While I’ll never make any assumptions about a writer’s real world life, it’s pretty damn clear the Queen of Steam struggled with writing efficiency before writing this book. To that point, it makes this book almost required reading to up and coming authors, as the plain-as-day writer struggle is painted for the reader in vivid colors.

Verdict: Dirty Author by Sarah Bailey can be taken in multiple ways. If you want a hot story about sexy best friends that finally get over themselves and take the plunge, it’s there. If you want an examination of the struggle of the writing process with cute backdrop, that’s also there. Hell, in some ways the book is just plain fun too. Snippets of the character author’s erotica allows the book author an outlet for some cheesy sexual banter that may never have otherwise seen the light of day. But all of that comes together to form a wonderful example of how an artist can find inspiration from what matters most to them, and the doors to which that expression can open. Magnificent!

Oh yes this book is right up my alley
Well I am a huge fan of Sarah Bailey but I’ve got to say this book has got a totally different twist to it. And I couldn’t read it fast enough once again I got totally lost in one of your stories.

Talia had been keeping a huge secret from her best friend and family. They knew she wrote stories but they thought it was just a little hobby and she’s actually employed to be a copywriter. But what they didn’t know was she had actually published her books her very raunchy erotic books and she was living off her earnings. Barely. But for the last month she didn’t know what she was going to write she like to think that her characters talk to her and they write their own story and right now they were having the hugest siesta they just weren’t talking. So she sent an SOS out to her best friend Duncan. And within seconds he replies but he’ll be there for her like he always is.
Duncan was enjoying life he had a good job and if he was honest we just seem to fall on his feet but I know it was for one night and one night only then he moved onto the next one. The only woman he ever cared for other than his family is Talia his best friend she knew the real Duncan that he kept well hidden from Everybody else. So when he knows that she needs him he’s there straight away with food and alcohol and A shoulder to cry on. But this time is different she looks different she looks beaten and he knows he will have to get to the bottom of it and for that they need alcohol.

The what will happen when he finds out why she is so low. And how alcohol help this.?
Oh Yesssssssssss this is so good. It was excited, it was like addictive, it was exhilarating and I knew what was going to happen but you kind of just wish for different response from them both. I just don’t wanna give anything away but I was so happy and I would enjoy reading about their life’s In the future

'Dirty Author' is book five in Sarah Bailey's "Dirty" series. Each can be read as a standalone but why would, unless you haven't discovered this sexy, chemistry, humor, angst-filled series? This book is a quick easy read where we are introduced to Talia, a full-time erotic romance author, and her best friend, Duncan. For the most part, they know everything about each other since they've grown up together as childhood friends. Except for one detail that wasn't shared until frustration and alcohol-induced that bit of truth to Duncan. He thought she was a freelance copywriter. The storyline captured me from the get-go, the characters were flawed enough to be relatable and this was definitely a scenario I hadn't read before which made it even more interesting. A great addition to a stellar series.

I swear only Sarah can make me feel so much and so invested with a novella.🤣

I loved Talia and Duncan. Loved their dynamic. Best friends who drink a little too much one night and crack open the feelings that they have felt for each other since forever. Talia is a hopeless romantic/secret author who’s lucky enough to have a bestie who wants to be her hero, in every way. He cleared that pesky writer’s block right up. 🫠😮‍💨

Sex and writers, what's not to love?

*fans self with stack of unfinished novels* Whew!

First of all, I could relate so whole heartedly to the main character Talia, being a writer myself. *pats self on back* I've had boughts of writer's block LIKE CURRENTLY. So reading from her perspective was a whole new experience.

Duncan is a hot mess playboy, who's realistic and relatable. He's so much like the typical man, initially afraid of commitment and monogamy.

The dynamic between them was delicious. I loved how they were both sitting right in front of each other the whole time and not even knowing they were perfect together.

The sex scenes were hot. The characters were loveable, which I'm beginning to find is a pattern in Sarah Bailey's books! This particular series anyway, *wink-wink* will not let you down.

I read this book in three hot nights and was left with a smile on my face.

Highly recommend this book and this author's entire DIRTY series!

This is the first work I have read by Sarah Bailey, and it will not be the last. Dirty Author is an erotic and beautifully written friends-to-lovers romance. Best friends since they were five, Talia and Duncan have never crossed the line for two decade. But when romance writer Talia experiences a bad case of writer's block, she turns to Duncan for help - and discussion of inspiration lead to a night of drunken sex. What I loved about the book is that book is that Talia and Duncan, while having chemistry in spades, have not spent years consciously pining after one another. It is not until they cross over the line between friendship and something more than either of them cotton on to their feelings. But after things being one way for their entire lives, will either of them be willing to risk the status quo?

Ms Bailey's wonderfully-written, well-developed characters combined with enough heat to melt your Kindle and an engaging storyline are all the ingredients needed for a romance you will not be able to put down.

So, when Talia has writer’s block she calls her best friend, Duncan. After a night of one too many drinks she spills her secret to Duncan and they cross the line between friends to lovers. Such a fantastic quick and sexy read and one I highly recommend.

Dirty Author was a quick and steamy friends to lovers romance that is sure to please. Best friends Duncan and Talia are always there for each other but Talia has a secret even her best friend doesn't know. She writes erotic stories and when she hits writers block, she confesses her secret to Duncan. This will lead two best friends down a path neither expected. Will Duncan and Talia risk their lifelong friendship for the chance at something real? Great story!

Duncan and Talia have been best friends for twenty years they're very close and shares everything together. They tells each other everything and doesn't keep secrets from each other. They even tells each other about their sexapades. Although Talia's is experiencing a dry spell and she maybe in need of some help to clean out all the cobwebs. Talia is suppose to be a freelance copywriter but she have always had a love for romance and would write it her past time. However, she decided that she would like to take her writing seriously and got some of her work published and decided to do it fulltime. She was embarrassed about her writing since she only writes erotic stories, so she decided to keep it a secret from her friends and family.
Talia's books is at the top of the bestsellers and her readers are anxious for her next book but she has readers block. Talia has been in a funk about not being able to read write so she calls her best friend Duncan to bring over the drinks so that she could drown out her misery. She confesses to him that she's a writer and that she has writers block. Duncan decided to help her with her problem to be like one of the a hero's in her book. They acted out the sexual position from one of her book in a night of passion. However, the minute they cross the line the friendship changed. Duncan saw Talia in a new light he wanted to be with her. But she knew everything about him when it comes to women and knows that he is a manwhore and wouldn't believes he was serious about a relationship with her. The night of passion helped Talia and she was able to create one of the best novel. Because she was writing about her and Duncan story.
Talia had promised Duncan that what they did would not ruin their friendship but she lied. Because she had fallen in love with Duncan and didn't know how he feels she decided to stop seeing him. Duncan was suffering from the loss of Talia's friendship and regretted helping her because it caused him a twenty year friendship. I really didn't like how Talia acted towards Duncan after he helped her even if she fell in love with him. She promised that nothing would change after all Duncan was only trying to help her out like the other times and be there for her like he normally does. She hurt her best friend unnecessarily and acted like she was the victim and that tick me off, so there was time when I did like this character. I loved Duncan's character. He's funny, and witty. I did however like the banter back on forth between these two. I'm also happy that she did come to her senses with the help of her mom and realize that Duncan love her and they get their HEA.

This is a short steamy romance that takes two best friends and turns them into lovers. This can be read as a standalone and it goes at a pretty fast- pace. You won't get bored with this book.
Talia is experiencing a nasty case of writer's block and it's beginning to become a big problem. She's a writer of dirty romance but she keeps it a secret from everyone, she uses a nom de plume and she's built quite the fan base. The problem is she doesn't have a new book lined up and she hasn't found a way to get out of her writer's block. Now after some alcohol, she's finally confessed to her best friend what she does and what's happening. Duncan will do just about anything to make sure Talia is happy. He is also known to have lots of one-night-stands, but Talia is different. He has put her first for a long time and when he sees her suffering he'll do just about anything to make her feel better. Reenacting her short stories should do the trick, but can they risk their BFF status for some sex? Is it worth it? Can they be more than a one-night-stand?

Talia is an Author of dirty romance books and she has serious writers block. She has kept that she has become a writer as her full time job from everyone, especially her best friend Duncan. Talia and Duncan have been best friends, always there for each other, and they know everything about each other better than anyone. Talia finally with the courage of alcohol one night tells Duncan she is a writer full time and that she is having problems. Duncan wants to help and soon they are in bed together to get Talia some inspiration. They both realize they have romantic feelings for each other but, are afraid to say anything in case it ruins their relationship. Except not being honest with each other and a drunken night on Duncan’s part almost ruins everything anyways. This is a short, fun, and very sexy read.

OMG!!! I highly recommend romance with plenty of steam readers try Sarah Bailey Dirty series. This particular one is one of the hottest best friends to lovers I have read in a very long time. Upfront you can tell Duncan and Talia had amazing chemistry just being best buds. I loved their banter...so cool. When sex was thrown into their friendship it did turn their outlook upside down. Real deep emotional feelings came front and center and knock the two for a loop. After some soul searching both realize along with their amazing friendship they were always each other hero/heroine. Now it did get kind of cheesy at the end with all the claiming of love but it just made it special for them. Loved it...hope Sarah continues with the Dirty series.

Friends to lovers romance. This is a well-told story about Talia, an erotic romance writer and Duncan her best friend. During a drink-fuelled evening, it comes to light that Talia still holds her V-card. Somehow, they cross the line and become friends with benefits. The problem is, they don't seem to remember the details in the morning. The secrecy, Talia feels she must maintain over her latest novel is a little hard to understand. They realise that their connection is much deeper than a one-off steamy encounter, that after years of sincere and close friendship, they are over the difficult bit. The book is about their coming to terms with these facts. The novel is a very pleasant, witty, steamy page-turner with a very pleasant HEA, which I can recommend.

Dirty author is a hot and steamy book in the Dirty serie by Sarah Bailey.

Talia write dirty book under a pen name and nobody, not even her best friend Duncan, knows it. After almost a month of writers block and too many drinks, she ask him to come over and ask for his help. They end up crossing the line on their friendship and sleeps together. And now she can't get him out of her head. That night did help her on her block but also made her realize her feeling for him. But Duncan is not the kind of guy who wants to settle and have a girlfriend. And Talia is afraid to tell him and that it might ruin their friendship if he doesn't feel the same for her.

I have really love this book and looking foward for Sarah Bailey next one. I have received an arc of this book from the author.

Talia never told her family or her best friend what she really does for a living. She has a best seller but is experiencing writers block. She calls Duncan her best friend and they act out a scene from one of her books. They crossed the friends zone line. She falls in love and is weirded out and because it is her friend. She thinks she knows him and he is a womanizer. They both seem to have fallen for each other, they just need to fess up. I loved this book it was witty and the banter was great. Talia is a dirty romance book author who's faced with writer's block. She hides her job from everyone, even from Duncan who is her best friend. When they're drinking together one day, she finally tells him her dilemma. Duncan wants to help her out and suggests one method to relieve her of the problem..... which ends up with them in bed together and having a bang time. Afterwards, they realize that they have feelings beyond that of just friendship but they don't want to risk anything in case things go south. It's a short but fun read!

Such a beautiful story. Duncan and Talia's have been best friends forever. Talia has a secret no one knows about and she needs Duncans help. He comes over and they start talking and finally she tells him about her writing and her delima with writer's block. They do an experiment and they end up helping each other with her problem. They do it in the most basic ways. Show and tell. They both find out that not only are they friends but they also love each other. Which one will be the first to admit it to the other? Will they break down the walls and take the plunge? Find out. Highly recommend. I received an ARC copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

She has a secret...a very dirty secret

Dirty Author is the fifth book in the Dirty series and is another fun and smoking hot and sexy book. This is the story of Duncan and Talia who have been best friends for over twenty years. They have never crossed that line but that is about to change when she drunkenly confesses a dark secret she has told no one, not even Duncan until now. Duncan would do anything for Talia and that includes helping her out of her dry spell and thus to get over her writers block....her very dirty writers block. But if they cross that line will it be forever?

This was a short hot read about Talia and Duncan, an author and her best friend.

*SPOILERS*

Talia has writers block and nobody knows her actual job of a romance writer, not even her best friend of 20 years, Duncan.

When they both get drunk and she tells him about it, he suggests to help her get inspiration...

Will the friendship hold up or will it fall apart after a hot night of pent up passion?

Great writing, I’ll check out more books by this author!

Steamy Sweet New Adult Romance

POV: dual
HUMOR: not really
F BOMBS: yes
CLIFFHANGER: no
NEW AUTHOR FOR ME: yes

Short, light, sweet read about childhood friends Talia (secret dirty author) and Duncan (who moves from one gal to another).

Steamy (check), a bit forbidden - crossing line from best friends to lovers (check), chemistry (check), a little angst (check), and HEA (check)... meets these checkmarks for a solid 4 star romance.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. Talia and Duncan are close friends and have been for a couple of decades. She has kept the fact that she writes erotic stories from everyone including him. A case of writers block and some liquid courage find her participating in his own type of research. This is a fun story and bit different than I thought based on the synopsis. It's a fairly quick and short read with a best friends to so much more plot. Unbeknownst to her family and friends, Talia is a successful writer of erotic stories. Unfortunately, she has a little bit of writers block. Desperately she calls her best friend Duncan. He is a one and done kind of guy but when he best friend calls he is there. Of course, he brings the shoulder and the alcohol but has no idea what is about to come his way. Such a good story.

Friends to Lovers Romance

Talia is an author of steamy romance books, and is having serious writers block. Her best friend Duncan has come over and suggest he help her get past it, but in an unconventional way. Will sleeping together ruin their friendship or spark something more?

A short friends to lovers romance, that shows you can meet the perfect person for you early in life. Their story is sweet and while Duncan is said to be a player, he treated Talia like a queen and that's what I loved about him.

Talia’s writers block was the catalyst that had Duncan crossing the line with his best friend.
A smooth womanizer and player, he used women without emotional involvement. When his relationship with Talia became physical, his emotional connection with her had him reeling.
A bit of miscommunication and fear kept them apart far too long before they realized their feelings for each other. A sexy read.
