Esther Samuels-Davis is an illustrator and author living in Berlin. While self-publishing many of her own
zines as Dirty like the Weeds, Esther’s first and second published books, Togetherverse and
Tumbo in the Shadows, were released in 2019 and 2022 by taotime books.

I absolutely adore this book. It has found a special place on our bookshelf, regularly taken down by my 4y.o and thumbed through only to be requested again later that evening. My 9y.o neice is also a huge fan and I often find her book in hand, deep in thought, contemplating the together verse. The illustrations are just so clever and the detail is breathtaking - we can sit on one page for ages, exploring, thinking, asking questions - the images really spark the imagination. The style is unique as is the story and I love the gentle pace at which the tale unfolds - making it a perfect bed time snuggle read with my little one. I highly recommend for all young readers. Looking forward to more by this author.

Esther Samuels-Davis is both a brilliant artist and storyteller. Togetherverse is a gorgeous book through and through, with so many lovely characters and a wonderful, heartfelt message. The stunning print quality of this book does so much justice to the beautifully rendered drawings— the color and texture of the colored pencil shading jumps off the page as with an original work. Samuels-Davis has thought of every little detail, from the decorated liner pages to the sweet font for the text.

I gifted a copy of this book to a friend’s 2 year old. My friend reported that, upon finishing the book for the first time, he immediately requested to hear the story again.

A perfect choice for humans young, medium, and old!

This book is INCREDIBLE. I bought 5 and gave them to all my closest friends with children, though I think the parents appreciated them just as much as the kids :) The full-page illustrations are stunning & so intricate -- you can find something new every time you read the book, which makes it super fun to read with kids. The story is beautifully written with a powerful message of strength, adventure, and love for the world & its creatures around us. This is a must-have for your bookshelf as well as the bookshelves of the youngins in your life!
