I have loved all of Kate's books since I discovered the Beneath series.
Sixth Victim is the second in the Clara Tinder journalist series and the main character in the book Cecilia aka Clara is a joy to read.
After her shocking discovery in the first book Third Child, journalist Cecilia has left her old newspaper and is now going solo, she soon discovers that the grass isn't always greener on the other side.
With no income and a house and bills to pay she needs a story that will capture the public's attention.

After hearing on the news that the serial killer known as the Slasher has left a victim alive she contacts her old friend in the police department Detective Patts to ask information about the victim, but the police don't believe that Mary Anne was a victim at all but Cecelia wanted to hear her side of the story.
After meeting Many Anne she could understand why the police didn't take her seriously. The woman obviously had some underlying issues and with being a failed actress to boot it seemed that May Anne was doing all this for attention.
Without giving away any spoilers the story unfolds with compassion, empathy, narcissism, murder and an award winning ending.
