Rate this book
Five women. Five beautiful stories. Follow the women of Whisling as they navigate life searching for peace, hope, and home .

Olivia was sure she'd endured the last of Bart's torment, but he's back. And Olivia isn't sure she has what it takes to stand up to him once again. But she has to. Because this time, if Olivia falters, she won't be the one to suffer. No, the suffering will fall on her girls. And she cannot let that happen.

Alexis has begun to move past the grief caused by Dalton and her dad. Life surely isn't perfect, but she's waking up and doing more than just going through the motions. So she counts that as a win. However, when she's confronted with an upsetting experience, it leaves her immobilized--she's completely frozen by fear. Fortunately, the threat is more imagined than real. But that doesn't undo the fact that Alexis did nothing. It's up to her to keep history from repeating itself. But how does she accomplish that?

Bess has found her happily ever after. She's in love with Dax, and he's head over heels for her. He's even moved to Whisling. Things couldn't be better. Then real life sets in. Bess would love nothing more than to spend all her free time with her new boyfriend, but she has a business to run and a family to take care of. It feels as if she and Dax are drifting apart, and that distance unearths old insecurities and fears. Can Bess trust Dax? Or are the men in her life all the same?

Nora has some secrets. Or, more correctly, one big secret. Something not even her dear sister, Deb, knows. So when Nora is presented with a big piece of the puzzle to her past, she realizes she has a choice to make. Does she continue keeping her secret or allow her past to collide with her present? Nora knows she needs to choose the latter, but what will that do to her and her family?

Julia Price, the beloved movie star, is retiring. Her career has touched the hearts of millions; she's adored all around the world. But when it comes down to it, Julia realizes she has very little in regards to personal relationships. Finding herself adrift since her career is no longer her anchor, Julia needs more. She craves more. So she packs up her bags and secretly moves to Whisling Island. Secretly because the last thing she wants is the press hot on her tail as she tries to make a new start. But will Julia get that new start and the peace she craves? Or is she bound to remain beloved but never loved?

When presented with difficulties, the women of Whisling always rise to the occasion. Can they do it once again? Join five women, in very different situations, as they all search for one home .

It’s been a few months since I’d read Book 4 in this series, but I quickly became reacquainted with these women whose lives have gone through major overhauls. This time we see relationships begun in previous books strengthen, though a few are tested by the return of previous antagonists. Minor characters from previous return with battles of their own. Alexis, who experienced sorrow in book 4, finds new strength and purpose in exercise. Bess’ daughter Lindsey returns home after being fired from a job she loved. We’re also introduced to a few new characters: Julia, a aging movie star who decides to retire from acting and write screenplays, and Nora, an artist who comes to help her sister Deb run an art gallery. As with all extended series, I’m sure the book could stand alone, but having read the books in order it’s nice to see the growth each character experiences. I noticed a few typos, but the story is great.

Finding Home on Whisling Island: Whisling Island series Book 9 is by Julia Clemens. The book takes place on Whisling Island in the San Juan area off the coast of Washington.
Friends Olivia, Bess, and Alexa all found reasons to stay or move to Whisling Island. Olivia had divorced her husband, Brad, and now lives in a small cottage with her two daughters and next door to her boyfriend Dean. Bess had always lived on the island with her ex-husband. She ran a food truck. She was finally dating Dax and her daughter Lindsay. Dax had started acting funny and being secretive, can he be trusted? Alexa had finally gotten her life back and the dance class had been the biggest part of it. Now she was handpicked to become the teacher. Could she do this?
Each of the ladies has to find her own way through her problems and back to the island.
