My name is Darcy Llewellyn, and I know these things to be
I'm a witch, a weather witch, able to control the rain and call the storms.
I'm in love with five rockstars who are secretly werewolves, and they love me.
I've sacrificed almost everything I hold dear to keep them safe from my family, who want them dead.
I'm done running and I'm ready to stand my ground, even if it means doing the unthinkable – killing my family and the Witch Council.
I don't know if I'll succeed, but it's die trying or die running, and I know which one I'd rather.
This might be the end for all of us, but with the guys by my side, I'll never be afraid to go back home and take out the people who have been hunting us like dogs. I'll make them regret the minute they decided to come for us, and show them that with my guys, I'm stronger than they ever thought I could be.
Book 9 in the Rogue Witch Series follows Darcy Llewellyn, fourth year university student, music intern, secret witch, and the werewolves that make up the band Finn Gunner, Elias Gunner, Charlie Gage, Wesley “Ace” Rivers, and Cash Legend. This steamy Reverse Harem Romance is over 60,000 words in length, and is the ninth and final in a series about Darcy Llewellyn and her pack of werewolf lovers.
KT Strange is a reverse harem romance author from the Great White North. After spending ten years in the music scene, babysitting drunk rock-stars, she’s finally read to settle down (somewhat) and write a few good books inspired by her life on the road with bands.
⤅ I cannot even BEGIN to express how disappointed I am with what happened to this series.
It started out life as a well-written paranormal reverse harem series, with well-defined characters, flawless prose, and great relationship development. It's now ended life as a badly-plotted, melodramatic, pointless sob-fest, complete with truly pathetic levels of communication from the author to her readers.
❌ What the HELL happened to Strange? This book was due out months and months ago (in March), then only two chapters were released. For the last EIGHT MONTHS, we've had zero communication from her beyond 'I'm talking to Amazon about it!', and even that she only gave us when prompted to by a reader. Meanwhile, other series got started, other books were written, and in short, fans of The Rogue Witch were left abandoned. This is like the fourth time there's been a supposed Amazon problem, and you know what? I don't believe, that out of all the authors out there who exist, Amazon deliberately chooses to keep targeting this one. At this point, I have no choice but to believe it's Strange's own inability to manage deadlines, or upload the correct file, which is at play.
❌ If a book is eight months late, then surely, you think to yourself, it must at least have been flawlessly edited? WRONG. I do not believe anybody, let alone an editor, read this book at any point during the writing process. In fact, I don't think the author herself read what she'd written either. There are typos everywhere: 'its' is constantly written as 'it's', a character's name keeps changing spellings from Luca to Luka, and - perhaps most egregious of all - there are MULTIPLE TENSE CHANGES from past to present, sometimes even IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SENTENCE. What the hell? I'm faced with two options: either absolutely nobody (including Strange) read this book at any point before publication, OR they were all so grammatically incompetent they didn't notice any of these issues.
❌ What I've listed above are technical issues, but the actual story itself is pretty bad too. The plot is all over the place. There is basically zero continuity between the last couple of books and this book. What happened to Darcy's massive, star-given destiny? It's never even mentioned. Her dad is presented as the ultimate evil villain when he literally only showed up like two books ago - there was a whole series before this. What about hunters? How come they suddenly aren't a threat anymore?
❌ The character deaths are just... ugh. So Max does stay dead, which means - why the hell did I read a short story focusing on her almost-romance with the two demons? I was really really interested in that, and apparently it's not going to happen now, so why did readers' time get wasted like that? I'm here to read romance, not War and Peace, I have my actual degree for that, I have ZERO interest in reading stories of characters who DIE. And Max wasn't the only one either.
❌ Has Darcy always been such a little sh*t and I'm only now noticing, or is this a new development? She's whiny, self-centred, and apparently has no issue with the thought of killing innocent children, which is okay in a dark antiheroine when that part of their character is already known to me, but feels completely out of place on Darcy.
❌ For the LAST BOOK IN A NINE-BOOK SERIES, there is not nearly enough positivity and healing to counter all the negativity and dying. There's one sex scene in the entire book. And it's with Cash, who gets a weird amount of page time in this book, while the others - Charlie, Eli, Ace - get none. Where's the balance? This is the last book in the series and you aren't going to give me balance? The epilogue psyches you out because you think Darcy's had a baby, and then it turns out to be the baby niece she's adopted, and then you just feel cheated.
⤅I am really mad right now, in a way I'm not usually, even when I've read a bad book. I've just invested so much in this series and that has honestly been made a mockery of. Incredibly disappointing.
I just wonder why it keeps happening to this author I mean I read alot of books and I've only ever had this kind of a problem with KT, you've got to feel for her I'm sure she doesn't want a lot of disappointed fans when this happens
Wow, what an ending. Darcy and her guys have a special place in my heart. Their story wasn't easy but in the end they got their HEA and that makes my heart happy.
Okay first up, I strongly urge you to ignore all ratings and reviews from before November 20th. Before that date, the wrong file was being delivered by Amazon. It's now fixed, and you can download all 31 chapters of this wonderful book!!
Now onto the review...
This was everything I wanted in an ending to this series. We see Darcy get torn down to her lowest, and I adored the love and support she received from the pack. Their overall relationship has gone from strength to strength, despite hardships and stupid decisions all around. And speaking of stupid decisions, that's what makes these characters feel like real people.
People do dumb things, and I don't think magical powers would change that at all. They react to their grief in dramatic actions that seem like a good idea to them. It's a realistic reaction which KT Strange writes beautifully and relatably. Max continued to break my heart throughout this book, and it says something about the writing when a character's presence is still being felt so strongly after all this time.
The multiple showdowns throughout the book were fantastic. Darcy's father is a horrific villain I loved to hate, and the twists surrounding his presence and powers were jaw-dropping. The different types and styles of magic have been so creative throughout the series, but I was especially impressed by the wolves' magic being brought back in a way I couldn't have predicted.
The ending felt bittersweet, but perfect for the tone of the series as a whole. They've had so many fun moments, and so much joy, but these characters have also suffered tremendous losses. I loved that these losses were respected to the end, and not forgotten.
Now for a reread of the whole, completed series... ;)
After 9 books the expectation and reality of last book was a total let down. There are too many open points and no deapth for closure. Too many characters around the story which ideally could have ended a lot earlier if it was to be completed this way
Umm. Where is the book? Two chapters are available and they’re riddled with errors. If I could give this zero stars I would. At this point, I feel that rookie mistakes like this shouldn’t be happening or some type of notification should be sent out to readers. Not to mention the quality of the last three books had been fairly lackluster. Both in terms of the story writing (compared to the first couple books) and the editing (so many easy fixes??). Just really disappointed. I will not be changing my review until the author has rectified the situation.
I already felt like I was waiting forever for the last book to get fixed! I was excited I didn't have a long wait for the final book. Now this book is only two chapters 😭
I’ve waited and pre-ordered this book because I fell in love with this story and to finally have it, only to have it be 2 chapters.... ugh frustrating.
This is a slow burn, reverse harem, paranormal romance series, featuring a five piece werewolf rock band called Phoenixcry and their newly assigned, witchy, college intern tour manager.
Closed universe where wolves & witches keep to their own. Both have vilified the other, but it is soon apparent that the witches are the black hats. Werewolves have been hunted to near extinction by witch lead hunters.
Darcy Llewellyn, our witchy tour manager, ran away from her family and her witchy heritage after her (arranged marriage) fiancé tried to rape her. She has been living among mundanes while going to college for music management. Only her college roommate, a supposed mundane named Max, knows she is a witch. Max has her own supernatural connection, of which she & we the readers are initially unaware of.
Sparks fly (& panties melt) the moment Darcy is introduced to her fledgling rock band of werewolves. And when she hears them play live…. Their music is inherently magically, and is especially potent to witches.
Phoenixcry is a five piece rock band: Finn Gunner (vocals) Elias Gunner (lead guitar) Charlie Gage (rhythm guitar) Wesley “Ace” Rivers (bass) Cash Legend (drums)
Werewolves are long lived. Cash & identical twins Finn & Eli are all of a similar age. They served in WWII in their youths. Before they went to war, their pack was flourishing. They returned to find it decimated. Charlie, a millennial, was a pup who ran when the hunters came. (And yeah, there is some angst there). Ace is not much older than he appears, one of the few born after the initial devastation of the pack. But now, they are all that is left of their pack. Eli is the pack alpha.
When the pack was thriving, male wolves often formed smaller mating groups with a single female. So when the boys set their attention on Darcy, they all expect to eventually share her affections. Here is where the slow burn comes in. Initially only Finn pursues her. Darcy is still a virgin, having spurned her fiancé. Finn gives Darcy a mating bite before they have a chance to explain what it means to mate with werewolves.
Then foolish Darcy runs home to her witchy family and finds out anew just how bad things are in that community. The arranged marriages among prominent witch families allow for male witches to steal female witches power. Her visit home in book 2, leaves her firmly on team werewolf. When she returns, it’s to wholeheartedly embrace Finn & the rest of the band.
The boys one by one initiate physical relationships with Darcy. Cash would have been earlier in the list but he foolishly pushed the idea that Darcy could make the pack a heartstone. A lightening witch, she is historically the only type of witch who can create a heartstone. Without it, the boys have lost the ability to shift and are unable to procreate.
It isn’t that Darcy is unwilling to make a heartstone, it’s that she fears that she is unable to. She’s never had much aptitude when it comes to her gifts. As such, she didn’t study witchy history quite as well as she should have. But something about Darcy’s connection to her wolves that literally sparks her up. (Cash’s insistence that she make a heartstone is what had her fleeing. That along with a very human “I’m not worthy”.)
I’ll skip all the ins & outs of fighting the hunters & get back to the good stuff: the music & Darcy’s connections with her wolves. Ace is the second wolf to take her (book 2). Cash is third after many acts of contrition, including diving in a freezing river to save Darcy’s life (book 3).
Charlie & Eli are harder cases. Neither gives in until they can resolve their own shit. Charlie first, after Charlie & Darcy are separated from the pack by a fire (book 4 into 5). Eli is last, after Darcy & Eli run to keep Eli from being arrested after he nearly beats a man to death after finding him harassing Darcy (book 6 into 7). Lots of cliffhangers throughout the series.
On the sex front, surprisingly “sharing” Darcy is usually one wolf fucking her with lots of extra hands & mouths. The boys don’t have sex with each other (no sword crossings), though they aren’t afraid to be touchy. There is very little privacy on a cramped tour bus. Fortunately, the wolves are all both voyeuristic & exhibitionistic. And once they are part of the fold, there is very little jealousy.
No anal sex, hence no double penetration. Very little oral sex on the boys (fellatio), so I don’t believe we ever got a spit roast. But lots of oral sex with the boys going down on Darcy (cunnilingus). Eli is kinky. A bit Dom: likes to edge his partners, pin them down, spank them. No toys or other implements.
I found myself favoring Finn, her romantic lover; Ace, her sweet lover, and Cash with his filthy tongue. But once Charlie joined the fold he played well with others. Eli liked his sex a bit more … his way.
What else?
The other band they are touring with, Glory Rev, turns out to have their own supernatural flavor. As does the girl they are dating. Yup, another reverse harem.
We meet a witch turned vampire named Wolfe who becomes Darcy’s teacher. Her gift grows as she grows closer to the boys.
Then there is Max, who joins them on tour.
When on the run, Darcy & Eli meet a huge werewolf pack with a functioning heartstone . Bad wolves.
The evil fiancé comes back to haunt Darcy. And she must confront her father, eventually. That might be the most awkward (??) part of the series.
I preferred the part of the story with Darcy & her boys on tour to the witchy battles. The author has some experience in the music industry & it shows.
As for the boys themselves, purring werewolves who are very touchy, like to share their girl, & sleep in big puppy piles. They are also very “put our mate first”, not only sexually, but making sure all her desires are met. They are protective, but are happy to let her lead with the band, in bed, and even in battle.
Darcy calls lightening. She sparks quite a bit while learning to control her gifts. Cash likes it, being sparked.
Three blue eyed blonds: the twins & Ace. Cash is a blue eyed brunette. Charlie a brown eyed brunette.
Unresolved at the end of the series:
One more nitpick: the kindle books offer bonus chapter freebies, but they all appear to have been pulled. Broken links.

I absolutely loved this series, however I just can't with this author anymore. We as the readers, understand things happen. However it would truly help to let the people whom buys your books know what is going on in the process. This was one of the first RH series I truly enjoyed, however with so much confusion with the last 3 books I'm afraid to even be excited when I check to see if a new book is out yet. I do wish this author the best, because she built a beautiful world.
A year later, it seems like the publishing issues or whatever excuse when we were given when the book was first released were finally fixed. However, it really was a let-down of a series conclusion compared to how the series started out. I already didn't have high hopes after seeing Namera's review.
There are a lot of glaring editing errors - just a few chapters in, Darcy is supposed to be out on a date with a fancy dress and a red carpet and everything, and a few pages later when she's involved in a , she's suddenly described to be wearing a pair of jeans?? I had to flip back a few pages to make sure we hadn't teleported somewhere else. In another instance, after her fight when she loses all her magic, suddenly she's sparking again from nervousness and is told by Cash to calm down. What?!?! You just spent two whole chapters lamenting you had absolutely no magic left - how the heck are you able to spark again?
I started skimming heavily after the above instances since I didn't have much faith that the rest of the book would be much better, and I carried on stubbornly just to read for closure or likely would have quit mid-way through the book.
The plot jumped from place to place in a hurried chaotic mess without much exposition or reason. I was more and more confused at what was going on the more I read, and never felt like I had much clarity on where the plot was trying to go. Darcy's father mysteriously - a type of character that was never explained well at any point and introduced out of nowhere. Darcy's sister was all of sudden mentioned to have a newborn nephew with for evil father shenanigan purposes that also wasn't explained well at any point. Darcy's mother was revealed as another , and disappeared from the book after a single battle scene. The book even admitted to it... Luka's name suddenly started getting spelled as Luca for significant portion of the book. He was also I still never understood why her sister was so mad at Darcy and wanted to make Darcy defeat and kill her yet ... The unsatisfactory plot decisions just went on and on.
The deux ex machina plot devices were so heavy handed that you couldn't be surprised that Darcy would eventually figure something out to save the day in unexpected ways. When her father managed to siphon off all her magic as an , Wolfe the vampire was suddenly able to somehow teach Darcy to see and use a different power source for some new earth magic out of nowhere in a new chapter. This also allowed Darcy to see Then disappeared from any other appearances for the rest of the book. Darcy also managed to shortly see Oh, Darcy's new magic ended up as not enough power? She learned how to take magic from . Darcy couldn't figure out how to defeat the other evil witches without killing them? Levi informed her of the magical heartstone property to The basic were not enough to defeat Darcy's father's dark magic? Darcy spontaneously learned to when in desperate need. It was ridiculously absurd.
Yes, I get that you feel like a monster, Darcy, for wanting to kill your father and other witches because they're so despicable. We didn't need 100+ pages of this angst. Same with Wolfe acting disappointed at Darcy's skills and decisions and then returning suddenly and deciding that she was the best protege ever after she managed to defeat her father at the end of the book.
Lastly, it had been quite a while since I read the previous books in the series, and people were not well reintroduced here. Darcy's father's name Vail came out of nowhere in the middle of a conversation, and I only figured out it was his name from conversation context. Darcy had never mentioned it before when she first met her father in the book. Other than that single scene, the name was then mentioned only a single time in a later chapter when I searched the book to check. :| Max was also never described to be a phoenix at any point in this book - I only remembered this because I went back to the previous books to refresh my memory to write this review. These are only a few of many similar issues with the other characters like the demons and the temporary trio with Daria.
It's unfortunate that this last book was such a hot mess, but I guess at least the series and torturous wait for closure in whatever unsatisfactory form we were given here is over. ------ Ratings - completed series: #1 Phoenixcry: ★★★★☆ #2 Phoenixfall: ★★★★☆ #3 Phoenixburn: ★★★★☆ #4 Phoenixash: ★★★★☆ #5 Phoenixrise: ★★★★☆ #6 Phoenixflare: ★★★★☆ #7 Phoenixheart: ★★★☆☆ #8 Phoenixfire: ★★★☆☆ #9 Phoenixlost (this book): ★★☆☆☆
I will say this... There was so many things that irritated me about this whole series. The excessive sex scenes (which makes me feel weird when its normally opposite) the inconsistent story writing, the back and forth or certain things in said story, the missing threads of some of the plot that would have made said story make more sense, and the fact that the ending didn't even really feel like an ending. That all said the plot line itself or the story in a general view was hooking. I skimmed slot of the sex scenes tbh just to get to the story parts where there didn't seem like that much but what was there was compelling. The characters were irritating in a way because they all kept making it seem like Darcy was this super powered witch when she kept failing spectacularly with the same mistakes and those mistakes kept ending up with big consequences but somehow people just got over that.... Honestly this series is pretty consistent with this authors writing. The story is good, but the execution could be way better.
even though this book isn't finished, im giving it 3 stars out of a sense of loyalty and appreciation for this series and its author. a solid reverse harem that has made me laugh, cry, and turned me tf on too. what more can you ask for? sure, ive ranted angrily in reviews of some of the previous books because of the guys' frequent mood swings and angry dispositions that make them lash out at darcy way too much. but it really just shows how much the author has made me care about darcy. invested in her happiness, even. and when the guys /aren't/ needlessly angry at darcy? when they treat her like she's a treasure? when they treat her like she's less of a treasure in bed (in a hot way)? those pages are worth the pages that frustrated me. when all is said and done, ive truly enjoyed this series.
I really expected Darcy to revive max somehow. Surprised she wasnt. Wonder if shell get her own book where she will come back. The epic battle wasn't really epic but it was messy as he||. Didn't like that some bad guys got away in the end. Felt more sad than HEA. 🤷
I absolutely hate that this series has ended but it went out with fireworks. I loved this storyline and it's amazing characters. I can say without a doubt that this has been my favorite series and characters ever. The only downside is that this last book was so packed with action that the heat was missing from it. For those of you who left low reviews because you couldn't get the full book, which was not the authors fault. I strongly recommend that you read it and edit your reviews.
This has been one of my favorite reads . I couldn't wait for the next book to come out. Loved Darcy and each and everyone of the guys. I cried when I finished. Please please write more . Too bad you didn't have a bot o magic to get books to us quicker. Love your style.
I loved this book. It was the perfect ending to the series. I do wish there was a longer epilogue, or even a second one that showed further in the future. But I loved the whole thing regardless.
It was a fairly okay series but the ending was very meh.. And left me with 1 question unanswered.. What happened to Max??? Like was she really dead in the end, because those "flames" that's Darcy claimed where her made me confused 🤔..
Every time I finish these books, I want to cry because I’m already missing these characters that make me forget about the bad 🥺 thank you KT Strange for this series
Thoroughly recommend this author. All her series have strong characters & detailed plots. Genuinely cant put them down until I finish all the available books.
