Haven Hollow #2

Cashmere Curses

Time to walk softly and carry a big stake…

I had it all.

A powerful coven. A charming Victorian mansion. A sexy car. A couture closet. Credit cards up the wazoo, and an endearing familiar.

Actually, scratch that, Hellcat would never be described as ‘endearing’. More like: the bane of my existence.

So, I almost had it all.

Then a vampire came along and ruined it when he turned me into a Blood Witch.

Now, I’ve been kicked out of my coven, kicked out of the mansion, I have no credit to speak of, the Lexus is a thing of the past and, not only am I driving something from the 80s, but it’s also unapologetically yellow. And rusted.

But the biggest kicker of all? I’m still stuck with Hellcat.

Even though my luck has too much in common with a toilet, if Wanda Depraysie is anything… it’s determined. Determined to make a go of things all by myself—determined to start over.

So, I pack up the few items I can actually call my own and I move to the only place that doesn’t fall under coven ownership—a little town in Oregon called Haven Hollow.

Imagine my surprise when I find out a gypsy has already taken up residence in this afterthought of a town. Well, no worries, witch magic trumps gypsy magic and I’ll make short work of her. After all, Haven Hollow is way too small for the two of us.

No, the gypsy won’t be an issue. It’s my new landlord who’s going to be the death of me… possibly quite literally. Why? Because he’s none other than the vampire who turned me into a Blood Witch in the first place, thereby ruining my life.

Lorcan Rowe is the most infuriatingly smug, irritatingly determined and offensively nosy person I’ve ever met and if my magic were functioning correctly, I’d hex him into oblivion.

But, that’s just it—my magic is on the fritz. And that won’t do—especially when I need to open my enchanted clothing store, Wanda’s Witchery, yesterday.

When my fabrics go missing at the same time that my magic stops working, I can only blame one person: Lorcan.

Well, that vampire is about to learn a very valuable lesson—you don’t mess with a witch, blood or otherwise, because when the going gets tough, the tough get a really sharp stake.

Witch

Descriptive. Interesting. Wanda is a great character. The second book at reading about witches and warlocks and vampires I liked it. I like that Wanda is starting like others not be so mean. I think her and the vampire should get together. It was funny the doll she sent after the vampire. I hope her powers all come back. I like Poppy.

Ultimately I’m glad I kept reading because I am interested in the town. Of the two books released so far I enjoyed Poppy’s storyline more. I spent too much of this story just not caring about what happened to Wanda. I’m glad she seemed to develop some redeeming qualities near the end.

So I thought this was a second book in the Poppy's Potions books but no it is a spin off in the same world and boy it was so much fun. I have been really busy but finally yesterday I had time to sit down and read this book and I devoured in one sitting. I didn't want to do anything but read this series. I like the main character because she is NOT cookie cutty perfect. In fact, she is far from it. She even has a mean girl streak. The characters are all great and they gave outsider insight into Poppy's world. This book was absolutely so much fun and I could not put it down. Yet, another fantastic win from these two! I have been a fan of both author's for years and they are still delivering awesome books! Such a fun read.

Lovely!

This is a spin off from Poppy’s Potions, it’s better to read the first book in that series first. You won’t regret it! It’s an awesome read.

Then this lovely book. Yes, I sure loved it, a lot! Did I immediately like Wanda? No. But I don’t think I was meant to, at first, so I could see her evolving, developing. So I learned to like her and I like seeing her grow.

There’s some good sense of humor in this book, too. Yes, I found myself quite entertained and I will be digging in to the next book as soon as I can!

Cashmere Curses is the next book in the Haven Hollows series. Wanda is not having a good week and it doesn’t seem to be getting any better. All my favorites are back to welcome Wanda to town. But does she deserve a welcome? Looking forward to what’s happening next in Haven Hollows

Wanda could use some Lithium

Whew, I made it to 48% of the book and couldn’t go any further. Wanda, the witch turned blood witch from a vampire’s blood kiss, is a manic, angry, conniving and envious person with everything in her life going wrong at warp speed...holy Toledo, I’m exhausted! I think she could use some Lithium..lol

4 You Haven't Known True Fear Until An Animated Doll Tries To Stick A Needle In Your Todger Stars

Cashmere Curses is the first book in the Wanda's Witchery series by J. R. Rain and H. P. Mallory. (Book 2 Haven Hollow)

I wasn't sure if I was going to like Wanda at the beginning of this book.. I understand being rightfully upset and angry about something horrible being decided for you. The culmination of her controlling image-cebtered mother, along with her coven treating her like a Leper because of this drastic and forced change in her life definitely didn't help. But she had a personality that left much to be desired. A very blame everyone else for your problems appearance, at first.

Then there's the annoyance that is her familiar. So dubbed Hellcat because of how truly antagonizing he is. It's probably the most upsetting portion of this book that he's almost more her mothers second familiar, than he's ever been hers. It's nauseatingly sad that what was supposed to be a fount of support, and lifelong friendship in her life is more a constant thorn and almost oppressive force on her happiness and prosperity. I hope the author has some personal growth in store for this cat, because Wanda deserves better.

It is so terribly obvious that Lorcan Rowe and Wandamellia Delyasie are infatuated with each other. I know the forced bond of the Vampire's Kiss plays a heavy part in this, but I'm far too optimistic in this instance, and I still hope that they will grow to love one another. There's this hidden sadness in Lorcan, that was minutely touched upon when he alluded to his past and the hope that Poppy's presence brings into his life. It almost seems as if the long years have made him depressed... And just as I want great things for Wanda's future, I can only hope that he flourishes as well..

I'm even more concerned about Hennir's grandmother's disappearance than I was when reading it in Poppy's first book. Finding out she was a blood Witch, and that her vampire sire was most likely the perpetrator of her disappearing makes me frightened of the possible outcomes that she may have on the future... I don't believe for a second that she's dead...

And then there's the hilariously named snot rag Charmin, Wanda's creepy cousin, who basically wanted her to be an unwilling part of his future harem style coven. I can't imagine him just giving up on his disgusting plans. While he Amy not be able to step foot back in Haven Hollow, I wonder if that applies to his familiar? And it's doubtless he can send proxies to torment her in his stead..

Libby is an intriguing addition to their dynamic. I wonder what to make of her death at Ophelia's nag abilities in the past, and the hatred they share for each other. But I'm honestly curious to see what will become of this zombie housewife..

A Witch Interrupted. How a gift from a Vampire turned this Witch’s life upside-down and inside-out.

This is the first book in the Wanda’s Witchery series and is a collaboration between HP Mallory and JR Rain. The book falls in the Paranormal Women’s Fiction genre.

The story is set in the small town of Haven Hollow, somewhere in the USA. The town is home both to humans and myriad secretive magical folk. The town may seem familiar to some readers as it’s also the setting for the Poppy’s Potions series. If you haven’t read Gypsy Magic, you really should go and grab yourself a copy of that now.

Our main character is Wanda, who is a 140 year old Witch, which is roughly middle aged as far as Witches of her kind go. She leads a privileged and pampered life; fabulous home, money, expensive car, interfering Mother who also happens to be the High Priestess of their coven, irritating and arrogant Familiar. What more could a Witch want?

All of that changes when Wanda is involved in a car crash which should have sent her soul back to the universe to be reborn. Instead, she is rescued by a Vampire, who bestows upon her his Vampire’s Kiss in order to save her life.

Wanda is furious! A Vampire’s Kiss might gift an ordinary human with immortality but for a Witch, it’s more of a curse. She’s an outcast now. Gone are the home, money, expensive car and her place in her coven. Gone too are the magical skills she took for granted, replaced by a new and unpredictable magic.

In order to avoid her Mother imprisoning her in a remote cottage, Wanda sells what she can, throws her remaining belongings into her newly bought clapped out old car and heads to Haven Hollow with her Familiar to start life again as a Blood Witch.

As if all that wasn’t enough to contend with, Wanda quickly discovers that her Vampire rescuer is not only resident in the same small town but he has a new found obsession with her, which she does not reciprocate.

In Haven Hollow Wanda will have to learn to control her changed magic, live without privilege, accept other supernatural beings and magic users as part of daily life and find out what it is to trust others and belong to a diverse community.

Wanda is a feisty and relatable character and I found myself liking her more and more as I progressed through the book. There is crossover with this series and the Poppy’s Potions series and we see several familiar characters appearing throughout the story.

The story flows beautifully and is well written and engaging. I read it from end to end in one sitting. I’m looking forward to the next book set in Haven Hollow, whichever series it may be.

Wanda is not having a good week . She leaves her coven because her mother wants to hide her away because of what happened to her . She is on the hunt for a new place where she can call home. When she comes to Haven Hollow where she feels at home . Until she finds out that there is a gypsy living there and to top it off the Vampire that turned her into a blood witch is now her landlord and her neighbor . When things start to go missing and her magic goes on the fritz she has to enlist the friends of Haven Hollow to help find out what is going on before she stakes the one man who actually makes her heart beat a little faster .
Ok I am going to tell you a little something when I started reading Wanda's book . I really didn't like her , to me she was whiny and was coming of as a brat . All she was doing was thinking about herself and how she was going to get rid of her competition or what she thought of as her competition . As I read I found out that she was growing on me and that I really started to care for her . She really grows up and realizes that there is more to being a person then what you can do . Its about the friends that you get along the way and you might actually find love along the way too. Lorcan is hilarious as you see him worry and obsessing about Wanda , There are characters from Poppy's potions that come out to play in this book also . Together everyone is so fun to read and you will love them
I truly love these two authors and their writing styles complement each other . They love to take you a roller coaster ride that will have you laughing all the way through it . The characters they write have their flaws but you get to see them work through the flaws and come out better people. This is a book you can sit down in an evening and read and trust me there are parts of the book that will have you laughing so hard you could snort . I can't wait to see where the authors take the characters and who they bring in to other books in the series . So if you want a fun book to end off the year check it out .

entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series. A fun cast of characters and a entertaining storyline. A little paranormal town or humans and paranormal live together. Magic keeps the humans from noticing the paranormal. I knew which is moving into town and as she is a Bloodwitch. Meaning she was a witch bitten by a vampire but not turned at least not yet. She was kicked out of her previous Kevin. One little problem though is there is a gypsy in town who owns a potion shop but the witch does not care as she figures once she can on some property and steak your claim she can kick the gypsy out of town. Things don’t quite work out the way she originally thought as many things begin to happen and things change. As it is a change in her life it is not all bad things that happen. Read on and find out this chapter in the story. Each book focuses on a different character in the series. This is the second book in the series and focuses on this new character. Very entertaining and a fun read. Check it out.

Entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series. The fun cast of characters in entertaining storyline. A small paranormal enclave were paranormal and humans live light. The differences paranormal‘s are protected there. Magic covers a town that makes the humans not realize the magic exists. Many different types of supernaturals live in this town. Including a gypsy with a potion shop a Sasquatch that owns a bar and grill a vampire dentist and a number of others. A new which is in town and then sit to make the town her own. She was kicked out of her previous coven because she was bitten by a vampire to save her life and is now considered a Bloodwitch. She has not been turned and therefore is half-and-half. Read on and find out the adventure in the story behind this another new character in this little town.

Cashmere Curses is the first book in the Wanda's Witchery series and it set in Haven Hollow. Wanda is a blood witch after unknowingly receiving blood from a vampire after an unfortunate accident. Now an outcast, Wanda moves to Haven Hollow in order to escape her controlling mother, and build a new life for herself. When Wanda arrives to her new home, sight unseen, she discovers her new duplex is next to a graveyard. She also learns her neighbor in the other half of the duplex is the vampire who unceremonious destroyed her entire life. Life in her new town doesn't begin as well as she'd hoped. Her magic is on the fritz, her possessions destroyed, and all of her enchanted fabrics missing, Wanda also finds out there is a potion-making gypsy in town. She's going to have to run the gypsy out of town but then events happen that have Wanda confused and things aren't what they seem.

Wanda's character is great. She acts tough and unfeeling but that's not who she really is. It's how she was raised to be but her character learns to relax a little in her new home. Lorcan's character plays a huge and fantastic role in the story. I really enjoyed him, even when he was obsessing over Wanda. Many of the characters from the Poppy's Potions series make an appearance in Cashmere Curses. Of course, it's because both series' are set in the same town of Haven Hollow. I love them in Cashmere Curses as much as I loved them in Gypsy Magic.

Cashmere Curses is a wonderful first book in the Wanda's Witchery series by H.P. Mallory and J.R. Rain. This writing duo brings interesting stories, intriguing characters, and thought-provoking mysteries to life. The character development provides history and growth, and the world-building creates a fantastic world to watch the characters do their thing.

I was wanting to not like Wanda. She seemed to be the bad girl you know is going to be trouble. I was so wrong. She has her work cut out for her starting over after many years of living under her mothers thumb. She has to remember to be herself. Something I don't think she know who that was and is still learning. On top of all that she has now been Vampire kissed and that adds a new element she never seen coming. Is he going to be a love interest? Is he going crazy? Will they be able to live beside each other? Who knows. I have so many questions on what I feel and think will happen. She has a powerhouse of a town to learn has her back.

I wish her familiar was another animal. This one doesn't do anything to help her and is a spy for her mom. I think it would be great if she found a way to send him back to mom. He didn't even help her the one time he was needed.

Wanda is going to fit in just fine in this town. I think she really is going to learn to make it on her own. Also, not everyone is as they seem. She is learning to find friends and be happy. I look forward to reading more about Wanda

I gotta admit, going into Wanda's story I didn't know if I'd like her.

We just had Poppy's story and who didn't fall in love with her, right?...Through out Poppy's story she says witches were bad news so when Wanda shows up the reader immediately thinks oh o... Trouble with a capital T.
And yeah, Wanda does seem to fall into that category pretty fast, but somewhere along the way things change. The reader starts looking at Wanda and her case with a fresh set of eyes and yes maybe Wanda starts seeing things differently too... Enough that she won't be a threat to the Hollow's sups is up for debate but I really kind of love the bad girl vibes and I really can't wait to see what happens with the sparks between her a certain vampire.

Until the next installment....

Cashmere Curses: A Paranormal Women's Fiction Novel: (Wanda's Witchery) (Haven Hollow Book 2)

I've always love 💕❤️‍🔥 books by J.R.Rain and I definitely was pleased with the addition of H.P. Mallory. This book was fun and never a dull moment. The main character has been put in a tough situation (by life) and her Coven and has to figure out her way in her new reality. She's bitter about it and has a tough time of things, but this book is about her adventures as she figures out how to be her "new self". Love ❤️ how she hated people, but that was the old life, now she can finally live her life without being under her mothers thumb anymore.

Definitely recommend this book and of course the series…

Wanda's Witchery Book One.

Wanda is a witch on a mission. She was kicked out of her coven because a vampire saved her life, turning her into a Blood Witch. For witches, this is a grave mistake. Wanda decides to move to Haven Hollow and open her own charmed clothing store. However, her worst nightmare greets her at the door - her vampire, Lorcan Rowe, is her new landlord. Wanda convinces herself she can take over this town, if only she can claim sanctum. The only thing standing in her way is a gypsy, Poppy.

If you're looking for a character a bit darker that the normal paranormal story, this is the book for you!

Audio Review:
Kelley Huston gives life to this fun, quirky town and it's characters.

This book takes over after Gypsy Magic but is certainly a standalone. The same group of characters attempt to welcome Wanda, a blood witch, to their town. Wanda was kicked out of her coven when Lorcan made her a blood witch by saving her life. He did not understand that witches would prefer to die than become part vampire. The ensemble of characters made this book warm and humorous. Wanda is certainly not as altruistic as Holly and takes a while to come around. Lorcan has a key role in this book and I hope to see their relationship explored more. I enjoyed this book and it left me smiling. I read this book voluntarily in exchange for an honest review.

What happens when: gypsy magic , blood witch magic and said blood witches' Uber hot Vampire Sire meet up in one small town....? Have you ever visited Atlantis, yup me neither. So you can imagine they not so normal, residents of "Haven Hollow ; where thrown into a ball game the didn't intend to play in.
Mallory & Rain have a true grandslam here. There is no lack of: excitement, romance, suspense , energy and action.
That keeps you flipping page after page then you are saddened for it's done. The only thing that has come out of this pandemic ,is such amazing writing from HP and JR. But from all authors. Thanks so very much for helping us, escape/go on vacations if it was only our minds.

A great sequel to the first book!

A few new characters are added to Haven Hollow. A Blood Witch and a Vampire mostly. He made her a Blood Witch when he saved her from dying in an auto accident. As such, she was banished from her coven and to escape her overbearing mother she moved to Haven Hollow. Since Locan the vampire followed her there she hates him. He wants to finish turning Wanda, the witch, into a vampire; but she wants nothing to do with him. What will happen between them? He is gorgeous and sexy but she wants no part of him! Will she have to leave the Hollow? Find the answers in this excellent book. Highly recommended.

Really Enjoyed This 2nd book

I love this small town & I want to go there 😀
I love all the characters and their storyline. The writing and editing is great. The plot of each book is original yet ties within the world thats build. I love seeing all the characters I have come to enjoy.
This one has a few more adult situations and actions, however it is still a clean read. No romance, just hints and telling of relationships. I don't mind because I'm actually enjoying this series, but I would prefer more Romance, relationship building, steamy scenes.

Wanda's life changed after a vampire gave his blood to save her life. Wanda is to Haven Hollow to start over, since she is now a blood witch. Wanda finds the vampire that saved her is living in Haven Hollow as well. Wanda's luck seem to getting worse. Wanda is going to learn some important lessons in her days in the Hollow

This was a good book to read. You will be laughing at some of the lines in this book. Wanda is not completely likable at first, you will see the change in her. Would to where Lorcan and Wanda are in the next book.

I enjoyed this book! I wasn't sure I would at first. The main character, Wanda, was bugging me. I didn't like her as a person. However, I really enjoyed her story arc, and it was great to see some old friends from the Gypsy Magic book (Poppy's Potions #1). I love it when stories intertwine! I am interested to see what happens next, and I have high hopes for some kind of redemption arc for Wanda's familiar and possibly even family (although I don't care as much about her mom, the cat is more important).

I received a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

This story is a bit confusing. The characters are all interesting, but the main character seems to be created to complain almost constantly, although I could be exaggerating. Granted, she was turned into a Blood Witch, by a seemingly well meaning vampire who was trying to save her life, but she has a controlling mother, a stifling matriarchal coven, and in this story, witches are all considered cold, unfeeling females who are concerned solely by their own needs. She has also had a string of bad luck that would break almost anyone. Read it at your own discretion.

Loved it

I didn't realize that there was another Haven Hollow series but I found Cashmere Curses and loved it
Its nice to read another perspective. Wanda is a hoot and I love how she is so snarky
The authors write so that you are bound to read the book in one sitting...
If you like paranormal books I highly recommend this series
But remember Gypsy Magic (Polly's Potions) is the start of Haven Hollow..

Decent book, but I couldn’t bring myself to care about the characters at all. DNF at 83%… yeah, that close to the end and I found myself doing everything else but wanting to open the book and keep reading it.

Kinda mad that I picked up this series, cause it’s ruined this universe for me. I find myself not wanting to continue with the other series that takes place in this town now, despite having liked that one.

This was an entertaining book and I look forward to reading more books is this series as well as other books by these authors.
