Mystic Creek #7

Maple Leaf Harvest

Rate this book
Love and new beginnings blossom in Mystic Creek, Oregon, from the New York Times bestselling author of Huckleberry Lake.

Lane Driscoll has been having nightmares where she’s chased by a strange man. When she has a threatening run-in with someone who looks just like the man from her dreams, she decides to leave her hometown until she figures out what’s going on. Lane seeks refuge in beautiful Mystic Creek, where she gets a job working at the local perfume shop. Soon after she arrives, a handsome customer seems to think he recognizes Lane, but calls her by the wrong name.

When Jonas Sterling, a local psychologist, encounters his ex-girlfriend, Veneta, in town, he can't believe his eyes. He hasn't seen her for years. Jonas is even more baffled when it turns out the woman is a total stranger to him. There's no way two people could look so similar without being related. Jonas discovers Lane was adopted at the age of three and is now twenty-six years old—the same as the woman he dated.

After initial shock at the idea she could have a twin, something clicks inside Lane—and now she needs to locate her missing sister. A romance blossoms as Jonas agrees to help her. But when the man from Lane's nightmares shows up in her dreams again, Jonas and Lane realize Veneta may be in grave danger, and their search for Lane's sister turns into a heart-pounding race.

(1)romance author:
Adeline Catherine was born and raised in Grants Pass, Oregon, USA. She always yearned to be a writer like her mother. The morning that one of her professors asked if she could use samples of Catherine’s creative writing on an overhead projector to teach was a dream come true. In 1988, she sold her first book to Harlequin Intrigue and went on to write three more before she tried her hand at a single-title historical romance. Nine books later, she did her first single-title contemporary.

Catherine married Sidney D. Anderson, an industrial electrician and entrepreneur. They had two sons, Sidney D. Jr. and John G. In 2001 she and her husband purchased a central Oregon home located on a ridge with incredible mountain views and surrounded by forestland honeycombed with trails. It was her dream home, a wonderland in the winter and beyond beautiful in the summer. She named it Cinnamon Ridge after the huge ponderosa pines on the property, which sport bark the color of cinnamon.

Sadly, Catherine lost her husband to a long-term illness in 2014. She has kept Cinnamon Ridge as her primary residence but divides her time between there and her son John's farm, where she has the support of her loved ones and can enjoy his horses, cows, and raise her own chickens.

Catherine loves animals and birds, both wild and domestic. She presently has two Australian shepherds, six cats, and a very old canary. She is very family oriented as well. Her older son has lived in Japan, Australia, and now resides in New Zealand. Catherine and her stateside family will celebrate Christmas on the north island with Sidney, his wife Mary, and their two sons, Liam and Jonas.

You ever have added a book you’re excited about then you start seeing lackluster reviews and put it aside? Well, that’s what happened with Maple Leaf Harvest. I’m trying to get my older ARCs read so I decided to pick it up and ended up liking the story a little more than I thought I would.

Maple Leaf Harvest started out with a bang, exciting and suspenseful. Lane Driscoll is attacked, mistaken for someone else and it’s a close call. From there it was a page turner until about 40% where the story started to lag. Too many unnecessary descriptions, clunky and formal dialogue making Lane sound like a woman in her 60s instead of late 20s, and a romance without chemistry. So much talk about hotel and travel expenses and other inane things. So many cheesy and awkward conversations. I started skimming.

I’ve read and enjoyed several Catherine Anderson books in the past, so this is probably just a fluke. I will say that even with these negatives and the book being on the long side (448 pages) I did keep wanting to pick it back up just to see how it all turned out. It picked up again around the 80% mark.

A copy was kindly provided by Berkley in exchange for an honest review.

The bizarre dreams and voices in her head are back, but this time they have leaped into real life when Lane Driscoll gets accosted by the man who was strangling her in her nightmare. A change of scene brings her into contact with another man who confuses her with someone else except Jonas Sterling claims that she isn’t crazy and he presents her with a startling answer to her troubles.

Maple Leaf Harvest is the seventh of the Mystic Creek small town contemporary romance novels that can all be read standalone though there is a moderately loose tie among some books in the series. For instance, Jonas is the last of the Sterling brothers to find romance, but his story is separate from all of theirs.

Opening like a thriller, Maple Leaf Harvest got off to an exciting start. Lane is a woman hounded by a mental difficulty all her life. She’s heard the same voice, Neta, all her life from childhood and into adulthood. But this time, she’s getting nightmarish dreams, too, that spill over into real life. A man accuses her of getting away from him and that he will find her and kill her. Lane runs and hides in Mystic Creek where she encounters Jonah who tells her she is the spitting image of his ex-girlfriend from college, Vaneta.

The romance was a slow progression while Lane and Jonah work out what is going on within her head and then figure out that Neta is in trouble. The pair decide they have to help find Neta. They are attracted, but know they have to focus on the situation at hand. All the while Lane tends to hold back. Unlike what she is learning about her lost twin’s vivacious sometimes over the top personality and struggles with substance abuse and relationships, Lane lacks confidence and doesn’t see herself as attractive in looks or personality. She can’t imagine Jonas being into her and mistrusts when he compliments and respects her and later tries to tell her that he’s into her and wants a relationship. I was sad for her, but also wanted her to make an effort to take what Jonas’ was offering and not keep pushing him away.

The book was heartwarming and engaging particularly when Lane was settled in Mystic Creek and meeting the special people there and Jonah was settled in his home town as a psychologist and close to his family. Loved Ma and her gift shop and how she took Lane to her bosom.
However, I vacillated between enjoying it and getting distracted when it seemed to stall out a few times especially in the middle stretch of the hunt and later as Lane has to get her ducks in a row. It had uneven pacing. It rockets out the gate with an exciting start and then takes a gentler pace through the getting to know you portion, but then grinds it out during parts of their amateur investigation. The end picked up again between the suspense thread and the coming to a head of the romance conflict then dawdled a bit getting to the resolve which was a lovely, romantic moment.

All in all, I liked it, but it isn’t one of my favorites in the series. I do hope our youngest Sterling sister get their chance at romance now that all the brothers have been taken care of. Readers who want a smalltown romance, characters who face some serious struggles, and sometimes a suspenseful romance should definitely pick up this series.

I rec’d the eARC of this book from Berkley to read in exchange for an honest review.

. While the story was not bad it didn't truly grab me and pull me in to having to devote all my attention to it.
I have enjoyed some other books by this author so I was surprised with the way this book made me feel. I enjoy her writing style and descriptions but I did not make a connection with the characters this time around. I will still read this author though based on past books of hers I have enjoyed.

Tangled, complicated romance…

Wow, did Lane and Jonas have a lot of things to work through and get past before their happily ever after. Past loves, unexpected family, and miscommunication – it was all here and made for entertaining reading…

What do you do when you are afraid? Meet it head on? Retreat to safer waters? Or maybe a bit of both? Lane was frightened and Mystic Creek offered her a haven to regroup and to find a way to move forward. With her family supporting her, she knew this small town was going to be a good place to start over but little did she know the trouble was just starting…

Jonas was shocked to see his old love in his own small town. Even more surprised that it was a woman who could be her twin! His confusion was real and the revelations kept coming – for him as well as Lane. How they dealt with them made suspenseful reading…

I love this small town and its quirky inhabitants and always rush for another read/visit. While I didn’t connect to the main characters the way I wished this time out, the writing (as usual) kept me entertained the whole way through. Who isn’t a sucker for happy ending, right? ~Diane, 3.5 stars

I’ve enjoyed each of the Mystic Creek stories. Each is a standalone set in the same small Oregon town. In Maple Leaf Harvest, Lane Driscoll has nightmares that lead to a violent encounter. Fearing for her safety, her parents help her escape. She takes a six-month lease in the town of Mystic Creek using only cash. For her protection, even her parents don’t know where she’s gone. While she has the funds to survive, Lane looks for work and finds a help wanted sign in a local storefront. It is here that Jonas Sterling, a local psychologist, sees her for the first time. Only he thinks she is his old girlfriend, Veneta. The girl who dumped him and his small-town. He is annoyed when she pretends not to know him and wonders what she is up to.

Lane’s nightmares continue, only now she is hearing voices. Fearing a breakdown, she seeks help and is given the name of a local psychologist. The tale that unfolds dabbles in the unique connections twins have.

The twin connection was interesting and led us to a case involving missing girls as Lane and Jonas hunt for Veneta. They travel up and down the coast and finally to Lane’s hometown. Jonas involves college buddy, now turned cop and his girlfriend. Stake outs and a slow building romance develop. The romance hits some snags when Veneta enters the picture, but the author kept the drama to a minimum and focused more on the twin connection and mystery.

This wasn’t a favorite in the series. I enjoyed it, but didn’t quite feel the romantic connection (though sweet). The mystery and suspense kept me engaged, but the pacing was off and parts dragged.

The characters were solid, and I liked both Lane and Jonas. Once Jonas realized what was happening, he stepped up and offered aid. He was respectful of Lane’s wishes, even when it wasn’t what he wanted.

Fans of small-town standalone romances in a series will enjoy the Mystic Creek series.

This was way to repetitive in the details, the characters were enjoyable enough but they just keep rehashing the same points. This book could have been 2 chapters.

Mystic Creek #7
438-page Paperback story ends on 426

Genre: Contemporary Romance, Romantic Suspense

Featuring: Praise, Author's Bibliography, Small-Town Oregon, Assault, Multiple POVs, Adoption, Mistaken Identity, On The Run Trope, Therapist, Psychic Connection/Twin Telepathy, Amateur Investigation, Slow Burn Romance, Sex - Detailed, Excerpt from Huckleberry Lake

Rating as a movie: R for adult content

Songs for the soundtrack: "Return to Sender" by Elvis Presley

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️½🍁

My thoughts: 📖 Page 45 of 436/438 Chapter Two - This is odd but clearly she has a twin she's unaware of. I'm only stopping because it's late.
📖 142 Chapter Six - The storyline is great except for the sister's ex aspect.

I loved the plot but the dialogue was very blah and repetitive. I've never been a fan of cross-sibling relationships but I thought the actions of the couple were very questionable. I didn't get many updates on the older cast and the ending wasn't satisfying. I hope they revisit this story in the next book.

Recommend to others: Yeah, it's a decent story, but not my favorite.

Lane Driscoll’s life has been plagued by strange voices and now she is having nightmares of a vicious man trying to kill her. When Lane actually encounters her frightening bad dream man and is brutally attacked by him, she leaves town to hide out in Mystic Creek because he has her purse with all of her identification. Lane’s parents, who have been very supportive, are withholding some information from her that would explain quite a lot about what is going on.

Lane takes a job in the small Oregon town where she is stunned to find out that she may have a twin sister. Years before in college, psychologist Jonas Sterling dated that woman, Veneta, who he thinks Lane is when he initially sees her. Lane cannot figure out why somewhat she has never met would treat her so poorly at first sight. After finally convincing Jonah that she is not very unpleasant his ex-girlfriend, Lane decides she needs to find this long-lost twin who seems to be in great danger.

Lane and Jonas spend time together hunting down clues for the mysteriously vanished Veneta which includes the dream flashes Lane gets of her sister’s current peril. As they work together, a relationship develops between Lane and Jonas especially when he realizes she has little in common with Veneta whose personality is often less than enjoyable.

The fact that Veneta was Jonas’s prior girlfriend, whom he professed to love, bothered me for most of this book. Even though Lane is quite different and Veneta the one responsible for a lot of Lanes’ difficulties, it is still an uncomfortable detail. There is quite a bit of murder and mayhem along with a kidnapping in this story. This is book seven in the Mystic Creek so readers of this series will most likely enjoy it.

This is an interesting story that covers a mystery and a romance both.
Lane Driscoll has been having nightmares and cannot seem to figure out what is going on. All her life she thinks she is a bit nuts.
One day she is chased by a strange man who is threatening and tries to kidnap her right off the street.
So she decides it would be better to get out of town until she can figure out what is going on.
Lane ends up in a small town called Mystic Creek, and gets a job working in a gift shop.
Jonas sees Lane and mistakes her for Veneta, his ex and is angry seeing her. But, then realizes this woman cannot be his ex, as she has a completely different personality.
Lane realizes after talking with Jonas that she must have a twin that she never knew about.
She also realizes that the nightmares are glimpses of her sister who is in danger.
Lots of suspense! Interesting twists and turns.

I am a total Catherine Anderson fan and this book is a prime example of why. Catherine is an absolutely fantastic author and my favorite in the romance genre. This book is well-written with wonderful, well-rounded characters and believable relationships. I was drawn into this story from the beginning and kept hooked throughout. It was as n emotional roller coaster (in a good way) to follow Lane and Jonas on their path and, as usual, Catherine evokes such deep feelings that you can't help feeling a connection with the characters and getting involved in the story. Full of intrigue, romance, and suspense, "Maple Leaf Harvest" is an absolute must-read. I'm very eager for more of Mystic Creek and Catherine Anderson. I highly recommend both book and series which I suggest you read in order for the most enjoyment and benefit.

I bought this book because I have always loved the books by this author but this story really disappointed me. I finished the book and the last few chapters were much better than the beginning but I couldn’t wait to get to the end. The story went very slow from the beginning and went off on some rabbit holes that were not needed. I love this author will continue to read her stories in the future. Everyone has different taste so you may enjoy it.

I liked this book, but didn't love it.

Not sure what it was about it, but there was something I can't put my finger on that didn't gel with me.

Catherine Anderson made Maple Leaf Harvest a very interesting and compelling story. Lane and Jonas were wonderful once they got past the mistaken identity fiasco and the notion that Lane just may have a twin. Lane always had dreams. And, they usually weren’t good. For the longest time, they went away but they started up again and this time they came to life putting her and her family in danger. Leaving town was her only option. She found a beautiful little town and a house that needed some help but, it was perfect for her.

Then things started getting a little crazy. Not only did she fall in love with the perfume shop, with the town, but she was also falling for the one man who she couldn’t be sure if he loved her for her or for some memory of someone who looks just like her. Jonas had a hard time coming to terms with Lane not being Veneta. She didn’t act like her. She didn’t talk like her. But, she most definitely looked like her. After his initial shock, he felt the connection. He couldn’t do anything but help her find out exactly what is going on. He also couldn’t help falling a little in love with the woman of his dreams.

Catherine Anderson wrote a love story with a whole lot of twists and turns. Once the story started moving along, you couldn’t help but cheer on Lane and hope that she could save the sister she didn’t know she had. You also hoped that it didn’t turn into a messy situation. Lane deserved to be loved. Jonas deserved to be happy. Veneta deserved to be saved. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed the intrigue and story line. It was a fresh and interesting read. Catherine Anderson got me thoroughly involved with the characters so that I couldn’t stop reading just to find out just where the story would go and where they would all end up. An interesting read … an intriguing read. A read that held my interest and has me looking forward to more.

Maybe it's just me but this felt way to cheesy and implausible. I know it's a work of fiction but the entire time I was reading it I was rolling my eyes, thinking no one actually speaks or acts this way. Because of that I had a hard time even liking the story. And it was way too long. Could have been 100 pages shorter.

This book's start was very compelling. It grabbed my attention, but I found it difficult for the story to keep my attention. I felt that many parts of the story were long-winded minor details that did not truly matter. I am a person who cares for detail in stories, as it helps me imagine the scene better. But some of the details and conversations had me skimming pages.

As for the main characters Lane is a great person who is honest, kind, smart, and cares about others. I enjoyed following her story. Jonas is a great man who is helpful and sweet. He also wants to help others. You get the gist. I am glad we see more of their insecurities and imperfections as the story moves along. It makes them feel more real. Jonas is a bit nervous, though he tries to appear as a leader and think things through. Lane is anxious and often said things that made me question a few things.

I loved that they had the aid of Jonas' friend, Jeff, and his partner, Carla. I admired the pair and thought they were fun characters. It made the trip to Maple Leaf to search for Veneta more fun to read, considering the search for Lane's twin is quite an anxious read otherwise. I was a bit disappointed, though, at how the scene was to find Veneta. I felt I turned 320 pages at that point for it to feel very... weird? I don't know, them getting into the house felt too easy. I was hoping for a bit more, I suppose. I don't even like gore, mystery, or anything like that; It creeps me out. But I felt this book could have benefitted from the rescue part not being so simple.

After Veneta was rescued, everything was fine, I suppose. But in between the emails was just random stuff happening solely to break up the message, and it felt SO out of place. I do not care that Jonas pressed his elbow into his enchilada!! Haha. The last random note I have is that the ending was not my favorite. I love Lane and Jonas together; They feel right to me. But I don't know. First off, the little girl and the fountain to make a wish was a random 2-3 page part of the story. Second, when they finally were together it was still psychological stuff and miscommunication that I was hoping would be over with at that point. Third, she went on for a few paragraphs about her fashion and clothing... it felt very random to me here. Regardless of her explaining she and Veneta are different. Clearly, they are... and then Jonas proposes. Don't get me wrong, the epilogue was cute. I liked it being their wedding. But I don't think it was what I was expecting after all this time reading their story. I wanted them together, but a proposal didn't feel natural to me.

The book was a solid 3/5 for me. Nothing special, but still a story with fun characters and a fairly interesting plot. I would recommend it to others, but it isn't near the top of my list.

Maple Leaf Harvest by Catherine Anderson is the 7th book in her Mystic Creek series. Lane Driscoll, our heroine, has been having occasional realist nightmares since she was a child; her parents have sent her to doctors, but nothing has ever helped. With time passed, her nightmares are less, but out of nowhere she has a terrible nightmare, about someone hitting her, and wakes up to notice she has bruises. The next day at the store, the same man in the dream, sees her and shouts “how did you escape”, but she manages to get away. Soon after, Lane decides to leave her hometown, to escape the possibly of this person finding her, and try to figure out what is happening. She ends up in Mystic Creek, and starts a new job in a perfume shop.

Jonas Sterling, our hero and local psychologist, is shocked to see his ex-girlfriend in the store. When Lane decides to find a psychologist to help her find a cure to her nightmares, she ends up in Jonas office, and he throws her out. Lane is surprised, since he calls her by another name, and despite her saying that is not her name, he wants nothing to do with her. But Jonas, being a nice guy, will bring Lane back to the office, and will learn that his ex must be the identical twin of Lane. Jonas will discover that Lane was adopted (which she knew) when she was three years old; but also find out that her identical twin was adopted by someone else, which is against the law to separate twins.

Lane and Jonas will embark on a journey to find ‘Neta” (the other twin), especially since Lane continues to get violent nightmares, which show her twin is in danger, suffering torture. But finding her is almost impossible. Can Lane and Jonas find the villain in time to save her life?

What follows is a slow build romance between Lane and Jonas; they made a great couple with sizzling chemistry. I really liked them together. I did not like when Lane made a wrong decision regarding Jonas, without knowing all the facts; and giving up too easily. To tell too much more would be spoilers, and this is an excellent mystery thriller, which I do not want to spoil.

Maple Leaf Harvest was very exciting, emotional, tense and intriguing story, as they race to find the sister she never knew, in time. I loved the secondary characters, such as Jonas’s friends, and Lane’s adopted parents. Catherine Anderson once again gives us another great addition to her Mystic Creek Series. I suggest if you have not read the Mystic Creek series, you need to do so soon and start with the first book.

If you like a slow paced, friendship building relationship, then this is your book. However, I would not recommend this book to smutty or passion romance chasers. I liked the general idea of the story. Lane Driscoll has strange nightmares that lead her to flee her current town and life. She then moves to Mystic Creek to build a temporary life whilst in hiding from a madman who attempts to kill her. At Mystic Creek she meets handsome psychologist Jonas Sterling and he believes Lane to be a former girlfriend. Lo and behold, they set out on an adventure to determine if Lane is telepathic and communicating with a possible twin sister.
Well... This was just a miss for me. Based on the title and cover, I was expecting an Autumn based romance. I thought, maybe they'll go pumpkin picking, hayriding, give candy to kids on Halloween. Nope. Wrong. Nothing Fall related here. It makes mere mentions of the scenery and the temperature...that's it. If I had been skimming (which I was tempted to do), I would have even completely missed those parts. The toxic relationship of these two 'lovebirds' Jonas and Lane, drags. Jonas is the helpful nice guy willing to put his life, wallet, and time on the line. He also happens to be a Psychologist who the author tries to make him sound rational, but the story line suggests otherwise. Lane is the non-committal narcissist who talks about herself constantly. When she isn't talking about herself, she obsesses about her twin Veneta. Their banters about finding Veneta and drug criminals somehow morph into feelings for each other and love. Oh, and did I forget to mention, they make a point to eat and/or drink wine at least every 5-10 pages? You'd think they were all on a vacation instead of an investigation. I believe this whole book should've just been cut down in half. There's so many rabbit holes with all the restaurant visits, it doesn't make for variety in the romance. Not to mention, they get engaged after only a month of knowing each other?? What kind of rational Psychologist man would do that? I only give this book 2 stars because the last few chapters were paced better and interesting. I would have given 3 stars, unfortunately, I think this romance book is below average quality. I can understand how some people might enjoy it more. I just couldn't enjoy it that much myself. 🤷‍♀️

I love Mystic Creek and all its inhabitants. And while I enjoyed this novel, I must admit that it wasn't my favorite of the series. As Jonas and Lane go searching for her previously unknown and now missing sister, it definitely had more of a romantic suspense vibe. And I enjoy this genre but it's not what I was expecting from this series. That being said, there were things I really liked about this book. I thought Anderson did a great job of making the connection between Lane and Veneta believable and she built a strong, intriguing back story for the girls. Though she gave Jonas and Lane a satisfactory HEA, I did feel some of Lane's story was left unfinished--learning to control the connection with Veneta, finding her mother, and taking over the scent shop. And she mentions that Veneta had moved to town but that seemed very out of character since she hated everything about Mystic Creek when she was dating Jonas in college. So I hope that we see both girls again and get a little more of their story. But it was a very satisfactory story for Jonas and I look forward to my next visit to Mystic Creek!

Probably more of a 2.5 ⭐️, but that might be a bit generous on my part. Honestly, the only reason I finished this book was because it was for a book club. Was it mildly entertaining? Sure. But I couldn’t care less about Lane and Jonas’s relationship. They were supposed to be 26-27ish and talked like they were 65+. That really took me out of it. I was more interested in Veneta’s story line than anything and that felt like it got solved really quickly once it got to that point. It felt slow and fast paced at the same time. I just was not that impressed. The 3rd act break-up was ok, I guess, but Veneta was the only one making sense the whole time with it! I was just getting annoyed. And then to top it off, they got married like 5-6 months after getting back together and got engaged the same day they got back together! I’ve read some books where that happened and I was able to get past it because I enjoyed the story and couple enough, but they really shot themselves in the foot with that when I was already not a fan! Hopefully the other people in the book club enjoyed it more than me, but I’m ready to move onto a different book and hope to forget about this one lol.

I really enjoyed this book. It was about a girl actually two girls , that we're separated at 3 years old they didn't really remember much of each other. One kept thinking she was going crazy because she was hearing voices little did she know who that voice was. She had a dream one night and there was a man after her the next day she bumped into this man and he tried to grab her and she ran and her parents told her to leave town which she did. And she met Jonas. Now he thought that she was a girl he dated she looked exactly like her. Once he found out it wasn't her, he tried to help her because he was a psychologist. Because she was hearing the voices again. Well he found out that his old girlfriend was kidnapped and it happened to be Lane's sister so they go in search of her now you're going to have to read it to see what happens it's a very good book I couldn't put it down

This book had some edginess to it, but for some reason I didn't get as involved as I have in previous books. I guess I wasn't sure that I liked Lane's sister very much, although I did feel she had potential to get her act together. I also didn't get into Jonas much, which probably means I didn't recognize him in any way based on people I do know. He seemed like a complete stranger at the beginning and was still a complete stranger at the end. Perhaps I just need to read this book again. I may not have given it my full attention. On the other hand, I am reading Annie's Song by the same author, and I had no trouble being sucked into Alex and Annie's world and their problems right from the get-go. I wish I knew what makes that difference.

Lane & Jonas

The youngest Sterling gets his story with a very unusual twist. He falls for the twin sister he once dated in college. He thought he was in love with Veneta but she broke up with him. Not having ended on a good note, he is shocked to see her show up for a counseling appointment. But it isn’t her. It’s her identical twin Lane. Lane has an interesting back story of being adopted at three and is hearing voices for most of her life. Now the voice is getting panicky and she feels she is going crazy. When Jonas convinces her she isn’t crazy, and that her sister is a real person, they discover that she has a psychic connection with her. Lots of twists and turns and of course some danger, but they have an adventure to find her sister before it is too late.

I am a big Catherine Anderson fan and Maple Leaf Harvest, 7th of 7 in the Mystic Creek series, did not disappoint.

Ms Anderson writes primarily romance novels but most seem to incorporate a contemporary social subject. Maple Leaf Harvest was a little different because there was a mystery to it. Lane Driscoll wonders if she indeed is going crazy as she so often has nightmares and hears voices.

After much indecision, she realizes that speaking to a psychologist may help her discover why this is happening. Jonas Sterling is the psychologist who has mistakenly assumed that Lane is his ex-girlfriend. This is when the mystery begins.

Another good book from one of my favorite authors.

This was a interesting read. Lane had the feeling all her life that she was different. She would hear voices in her head and sometimes nightmares. When a nightmare actually becomes reality she knows she has to get out of town. In her new town a local psychologist Jonas sees her but calls her by a different name. When Lane seeks help it's Jonas that she finds only to be turned away. After finally talking it turns out she was adopted and Jonas believes she the twin to his ext girlfriend Veneta and she is in trouble. They work together to try to find her.
