Go Teen Writers: Write Your Novel

Rate this book
You have a story to tell, don’t you? Or maybe you simply want to try your hand at fiction writing. Perhaps you’ve given it your best effort, but simply didn’t have enough tools in your tool box to finish that first draft. Wherever you’re at with this novel-writing thing, popular bloggers Stephanie Morrill, Jill Williamson, and Shannon Dittemore totally understand.

They know it’s hard to finish a first draft. To stay motivated until the end. To feel like a “real” writer. They know because they’ve been there too.

In Go Teen Writers: Write Your Novel, you’ll learn:

• There is no such thing as one right way to write a novel.
• How to take an idea and give it a beginning, middle, and end.
• What story structure means and how it strengthens a book.
• Different approaches to plotting a novel.
• How to develop characters worth reading about.
• Strategies for creating memorable storyworlds and settings.
• What theme is and how to use it to enrich your story.
• What to do when your first draft is finished.

There’s no doubt about it. Learning to write a novel from beginning to end is a challenge. But with this book as your guide, you’ll see that when you’re in possession of the right tools, you’re capable of finishing what you start. You’ll be empowered and encouraged—as if you had a writing coach (or three!) sitting alongside you.

The most comprehensive guide for young writers!

Man, I loved this book so much! It was easy to follow, and I loved that it was always giving you options for ways you could write and not telling you how to write. As it says in the book, "There is no one right way to write a novel." I love that quote so much!

The information was incredible and just so easy to understand! I've been writing for a while, so a lot of the info wasn't new to me, but the way it was presented made it so easy to understand! It was practical and perfect for any writer, whether starting out or if you've been writing for a while like me; you can still get tons from this book!

I loved the way it explained the show don't tell method because I think often that's the most confusing and overwhelming rule for young writers.

Overall, this book is fantastic, and I highly recommend writers in all stages give it a read! But if you're a new writer, do yourself a huge favor and read this book!

I don’t read many writing craft books, as they tend to make me paranoid about my writing rather then just letting the story come out as it should, but I liked the Edit Your Novel book by two of these authors, so I really wanted to try this one, and I’m so glad I did because it’s excellent!

It covers everything a new author needs to know while also refreshing those who have been writing for a long time while also being inspiring and encouraging. I got lots of advice and ideas for my current WIP from this and I have no doubt I will gain more wisdom from its pages in the future upon reread.

A wonderful, inspiring craft book I would highly recommend even if, like me, you don’t normally read them. ☺️

To put it simply, this book is amazing. I'm planning an in-depth review on my blog, so I'll come back and include the link to that later, but for now...I definitely recommend this for any writers. Not just teen, not just new writers, not just traditionally-publishing inclined, or indie authors...I really do think every writer can find helpful information in here. I wouldn't consider myself a new writer, and I've taken a lot of classes/courses/read lots of writing books, but I still found a lot of great refreshers. Absolutely worth the buy!

(And besides that, the authors are some of the sweetest, most helpful people ever. They made the book a joy to read through.)

An amazing resource for new or old writers! Although I've been writing for a while, I found the information - whether new or a refresher - to be helpful, encouraging, and very useful. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a new writing resource.

As I read through Introduction, already I knew I would love this book! It was easy to read with a conversational tone, yet professional—truly well-written! The table of contents promises a wealth of craft information for anyone learning to write fiction. Overall, this book addresses story aspects I haven’t seen discussed in other craft books. For example, we understand the role of a “wise guy,” or mentor, for a main character. One of the authors in this book, however, suggests writers ask what kind of help the protagonist needs and what kind of expertise will get them where they’re going (page 105). The book includes good, practical examples that will be helpful in my writing. Also, the examples are fresh and new. The three authors’ voices blend well throughout the book. I plan to use this book as a workbook, rereading it with a highlighter, and write my way through my story.

This is the most dympathetic book about writimg I have ever read.
The authors are not interested in showing you the one true way or a magic formula which supposedly is the answer to success. But they are interested in giving you a broad knowledge of how to write.
They give us advice and how you can work as a writer. What to do in the process of writing and a little of what to do afterwards.
I definitely recommend this book.

This is such a helpful tool. I've reread several parts for things I'm working on. It's very clear about how to get ideas and follow through with turning them into a story. It's great!
