Short & engaging. The hero is working as a negotiator at Taylor Security after quitting the FBI, his job is tough and he lost a marriage to it and now he has the toughest job yet negotiating the boss's wife release otherwise Vic is ready for tactical. The heroine is a nerd who doesn't want to feed gossip by getting involved with an executive but these two share crazy chemistry. I enjoyed the book and wouldn't mind revisiting these two again.

This is a short, exciting book. Mike owns the Security firm that Gavin and Janet work for. Mikes’s pregnant wife is kidnapped. Gavin is an excellent negotiator who used to work the FBI. Janet is the best tech geek around. So they work together to try and get Mike’s wife released. I loved how they were both so different but was attracted to each other. I admired Janet for working with mostly men and she is able to get them to do what she wants. The two are cautious about their attraction because he is an executive. Janet doesn’t want people to think she slept her way up. It was funny how Gavin and and Janet’s boss sniped at each other and the names they called each other. This is a good book that I encourage you to read. I was given a copy of the book and voluntarily wrote a review.

If there’s one thing this author does exceptionally well, it’s humor. Janet exemplified all that Adrienne Giordano is capable of in a character you can easily connect with on both an emotional and personal level. Negotiating Point, the third book in the revamped Private Security series, is a quick, tension filled ride, that’ll have you wrapped up in what’s happening right around the next corner.

Gavin and Janet’s interactions cover the emotional gambit of intense desire to humorous banter and whip smart repartee. Throw in Vic’s alpha dog mentality in conjunction with Gavin’s “head shrinker” ON switch and there is never a dull moment to be had with all these multi-dimensional personalities flying wildly throughout the story. I can promise you, you will go from holding your breath during a tension filled moment to laughing your head off at Janet’s self deprecating thought process.

This ARC book was complimentary, provided by the author. I am voluntarily providing my honest review.

Suspenseful and intriguing from the
first word until the final word.
Taylor Security boss, Mike wife has
been kidnapped.
Hostage negotiator, Gavin Sheppard
has been given the assignment of
securing Mike’s wife release. The
wife is pregnant.
The kidnappers stated that no police
should’ve notified.
Gavin needs to work closely with
Taylor Security’s tech geek, Janet Fink.
Both have undeniable, unspoken and
unacted upon chemistry toward each
other. Will they be able to ignore their
personal feeling while tracking down
Mike’s wife.
Even though Gavin is known to be a
master negotiator, Mike’e partner, Vic
believes they should go blazing in to
rescue Roxann. So in addition to the
conflict of the strong attraction, Janet
feels for Gavin, she must defuse the
intense situation between Gavin and
Vic.
Excellently written book with characters
that are well defined and relatable.
I volunteered to read Negotiating Point.
This is book # 3 in the Private Protectors
series. It can be read as a stand alone.

Romantic suspense and I..do not get along. I have a really hard time setting aside disbelief when it comes to a suspense-type situation. Would a couple on the run for their lives really bang under a bush with bad guys surrounding them? Would an uber-alpha dude really be thinking about nothing but sex in the middle of a shoot-out? Eh. I think not.

So for the most part I avoid them. I ended up reading this one because it was in the Carina Press Presents: Vol I collection. While it did take a bit of suspension of disbelief, overall I enjoyed the story and I'm glad I read it.

Although I didn't read the previous books in the series, I don't feel like I had to. There was enough information here to make the romance work without knowing the backstory. I think I'm going to pick up the rest of the series.

Reviewed on my blog, Becky on Books, on 2/23/2020.

I couldn't put this one down!

I'm actually glad that this one was a novella--I'm not sure I could have taken the stress of Roxann's kidnapping if it had gone on for a full-length novel--not to mention, the chemistry between Gavin and Janet? Needed an outlet ASAP ;) As coworkers, the short time frame makes sense for their relationship, too--they've been on a slow burn for quite some time already, and shared a memorable kiss just a few weeks before.

Honestly, it's a miracle they wait as long as they do before they take things a step further...

(Which okay, did happen during an active hostage negotiation. But it actually *mostly* worked here, honest!)

Negotiating Point could work as a standalone, but would be appreciated more by readers who have read the first two books in the series ( Risking Trust , book one, and Man Law , book two)--you'll be even more anxious for Roxann's safety having read her book, and will appreciate the Gavin/Vic dynamic if you've seen Vic in at least one book already :)

There's a teaser for book 4 at the end--all I can say is, bring it on!

I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "NEGOTIATING POINT" Adrienne Giordano did a great job writing writing this hostage negotiating storyline full of suspense, intrigue, intense drama a page turner.
Gavin Sheppard was a former FBI hostage negotiator a case gone horribly wrong so many died he left the Bureau only to be wooed by Michael Taylor who owned a private elite security company his VP was Vic the two didn't get along.
Michael got a call that his wife Roxann had been taken hostage by The Freedom Group they wanted Jackson Spelling released from prison for wrongful carceration he tried to kill a judge they wouldn't release Roxann until he was freed and message put in the Banner newspaper she worked for saying he didn't do it.
This was an exciting well written story with interesting engaging characters it's a must have book you don't want to miss.

I couldn't get pass the lust thoughts while their good friend is kidnapped. Janet in the previous book works fast to get as much in info, in this book instead of gathering info a
She'd rather screw the negotiator. The negotiator is thinking about sex instead of options to free his bosses wife. After he finally thinks of getting the kidnappers kid and mom
Didnt like the fighting with Vic. Vic just got the neice out. Easy read, just would have believed more if she fallen into lust after saving hostage liked Janet prior to this book Didn't like Gavin, story of first wife or actions in this scenario

WOW! Another FANTASTIC story by Adrienne! This one is about the new guy - Gavin. Gavin joined Taylor Security after his stint with the FBI. Janet is the computer guru of the company and she has her sights set on Gavin. Roxann was kidnapped by an extremist group and Gavin was sent to negotiate her release. It got intense for a bit between Gavin and Janet until they finally gave in to each other. Gavin managed to get Roxann released and the bad guys were taken to jail. Now it seems like these two start to work on their happily ever after. The story ended just as these two started. FANTASTIC job Adrienne! I would recommend this book.

I loved this quick read that was realistic, filled with suspense, and kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. I enjoyed the undeniable chemistry between hostage negotiator Gavin Sheppard and Janet Fink, Taylor Security's resident tech geek. Ms. Giordano knows how to keep a reader totally immersed in her books and I can't wait to read book four in her must-read romantic suspense series Private Protectors. Negotiating Point was quick, full of volatile suspense, and plenty of heat between Gavin and Janet. I really enjoyed the fast action pace of this story. Janet was whip smart and sassy. Gavin was perfect for her with his intense background and cool under pressure style. Mike & Vic were both intense and Gavin along with Janet managed to keep the whole situation from blowing up.

While this is part of the series, it wasn’t really necessary to have read the first books. It is actually a great place to jump in and get a heated sampler of the series.

A quick read full of suspense. Gavin has been with the company for about 6 months after years in the FBI. When Michael's wife is kidnapped, Gavin faces off with Vic on how to handle the situation. He thinks he can get her out by negotiating and Vic thinks he just needs to go in with guns blazing. Janet and Gavin shared an amazing kiss a few weeks before and now they are working to defuse the hostage situation and they are growing closer. When Gavin decides to go in and talk to the kidnappers instead of waiting for Vic to storm the place, Janet isn't sure he will come out alive.

Review originally posted here: http://thebookpushers.com/2012/06/20/...

I’ve never read Giordano before, but after reading her short story in the Carina Press anthology, I think I’m going to have to look up more of her work. Although this story flew by and seemed to be the fastest read of the anthology, I adored the story.

Gavin and Janet haven’t worked together long, but the sexual chemistry between these two is off the charts. Gavin doesn’t want to risk his executive position with starting a relationship with a junior team member, but there is something about Janet that calls to him. Janet doesn’t want to be fodder for the office gossip girls, but she thinks Gavin might be worth it.

When they are called to work together to rescue their boss’ wife from kidnappers, they get not only their first chance to work together directly, but also spend long hours together in close quarters. While getting their target home safe and alive is their main priority, the feelings between them boil to a point that they can no longer deny.

This novella read very fast, and I wasn’t sure if it was because it was so jam-packed with start to finish action, or if Giordano just has a way of seamlessly telling a story and making the words fly across the page. Either way, this novella went quick, between the non-stop suspense of trying to reason with the kidnappers, and the ongoing sexual tension between Gavin and Janet.

I liked the mini suspense plot of trying to negotiate with the kidnappers. With Gavin’s past, it was obvious he was willing to do anything and everything to negotiate and get their hostage back safely without worrying about lethal force. Although he butt heads with his tactical co-worker, I liked that Gavin was able to keep his cool and figure out the best way to negotiate. Likewise, Janet was a level headed character as well. She knew her technology and knew how to work it to best suit their needs. She seemed to balance out Gavin well, at the office and emotionally.

The sexual tension was Off.The.Charts. These two danced around each other for most of the novella, even taking some time in the middle of their opp for a little nookie. I look forward to hopefully seeing more of these two in future books, because I felt as if we only got to see a small portion of how explosive these two could be together in a relationship. I thought they fit, and that their romance didn’t seem out of place, even though they were on an important job.

All in all this short story was super sexy and the suspense plot was very well done. I always like to find romantic suspense books that are not about military heroes, and Gavin was a wonderful addition to my keeper shelf. I will definitely be picking up both future and backlist books by this author!
I give Negotiating Point a B.

Slick's review posted on Guilty Pleasures

Well, this book is a first for me, it all take place in less than 12 hours. Yes, you read that right. Hard to believe and to top it off it’s an exciting thriller combined with a satisfying romance. Negotiating Point is the latest installment in Adrienne Giordano’s Private Protectors series. This story focuses on Gavin Sheppard who is Taylor Securities hostage negotiator and Janet Fink, the company’s resident tech specialist.

Gavin joined the team about 6 months ago. Janet has had somewhat of a secret crush on the man since he walked through the door. Being the tech geek that she is, she feels he’s out of her league. They shared a kiss previously which she’s written off because he’s shown no interest since. Now they are force to work on the case of a lifetime. Their boss’ wife (Mike and Roxann from book 1) has been kidnapped and he is counting on them to secure her release.

Gavin is a master negotiator who recently moved to the private sector after 12 years with the FBI. He always strives for a peaceful resolution. Problem is Mike’s partner; Vic wants to go in guns blazing to retrieve Roxann. Janet finds herself trying to keep both men from killing each other and helping them with this mission.

As you can imagine this is pretty intense situation and the stress level is high. We learn a lot about Gavin and Janet during this long day because they spend a lot time talking about everything including the tension between them. Eventually, they give in and take a little “stress release” break. It’s fast, furious and pretty damn hot!

Even though this is a novella, the writing is excellent and because we know most of the characters already I didn’t feel cheated. I absolutely loved the banter between Gavin and Vic; it was great comic relief during a pretty intense story. Gavin and Janet’s feelings towards each other are intensified as well when they both have to deal with the kidnappers in person. While you could read this book as a stand alone, I think you will enjoy it more if you’ve read the others in the series. Knowing the background on all the characters really helps you understand their personalities and why they react the way they do. I thoroughly enjoyed Negotiating Point, Adrienne has once again written a story filled with emotion, drama, and of course love.

Anyone who has read the other books in the Private Protectors series will enjoy this one as well. The only complaint I had was that it was a novella and not a full book like the others! :)

Gavin is new to Taylor Security and is pulled in using his hostage negotiation skills to try and release Michael's wife Roxann who was kidnapped. Other members of the team such as Vic, Janet, Peter, Billy, also help but it is really Gavin's job to do what he can before Vic sends his tactical team in. Janet Fink, the technical/electronic expert on Vic’s team is also brought in to get information for Gavin as needed. As if the pressure of Michael’s wife being held hostage isn’t emotional enough, Gavin and Vic each think they know the best way to run the show. Janet has feelings for Gavin (which started about 3 weeks before this situation) and Vic is her boss so she tries to help both sides. This continues on during the story.

I enjoy Adrienne’s writing and the little comments that her characters “think” but don’t say. It is those comments/thoughts that make her characters have depth and seem real even in such a short story. One of the things I really liked in the story was Janet’s fun and quirky personality, which Gavin appreciates, too! Another thing about Janet is that while she is just a petite little in thing in size she can “slap” Vic around when she needs to and he’ll listen for the most part (I think he has learned that he needs to listen to those women like his wife who are small but mighty).

Gavin was a nice change too in that he wasn’t a typical alpha male who wanted to go in kick butt and ask questions later. He certainly put himself in charge but in a more subtle way than the others. I love this series and learning more about the Taylor Security team through this novella was fun! This is a very quick read and you will fall in love with Gavin and Janet in the process.

First, I love Adrienne Giordano's voice. She knows how to tell a story in such a way that pulls me in from page one and keeps me going until I get to the end. Most of the time, when I read one of her books, I can't put it down. If you haven't read the other books in the series, this will be a nice introduction. If you have read them, it's wonderful to have a glimpse into the lives of Vic, Michael and Monk,

Negotiating Point is a novella, which made me devour it in one setting. The story opens with the kidnapping of Roxann, the wife of the head of Taylor Security. Not a smart move on the part of the kidnappers. Michael (and Vic and Monk and the rest) are not the kind of guys you want to be on the bad side of! Vic, their tactical response head, wants to go in with guns blazing, which is of course his response to much situations. Michael vetoes that out of concern for his pregnant wife, Roxann. Taylor Security has recently added a professional negotiator, Gavin Sheppard, to their staff and Micheal feels he should be the one to head up this rescue. Vic, of course, doesn't agree but goes along with the plan.

The plan requires expert computer assistance in the form as Janet Fink, the resident tech geek. Janet is a petite gal who holds her own with all the tough, muscular guys. She'll not hesitate to stand her ground against any of them. Janet has met Garvin and has harbored a crush on him from day one. Getting assigned to work side by side with him is heaven and hell for her. What she doesn't realize is that her feelings for Garvin are returned.

It doesn't take long to trace where Roxann is being held (let's just say these kidnappers are not pros.) Operations are set up in an abandoned barn. As the negotiations for Roxann's release heat up, so does the sexual attraction between Garvin and Janet.

This is quick read that I thoroughly enjoyed. I recommend this read.

Hostage negotiator for Taylor Security, Gavin Sheppard is the best in the business. He believes any situation can be resolved through the gift of speech rather than going tactical. So far, he’s proven himself correct. When his boss’s wife, Roxan, is kidnapped, tensions run high and Gavin has to fight to hang on to his beliefs. He and the agencies tech “geek”, Janet Fink, work together to find a way out for Roxan who, they have just found out, is also pregnant.
Janet has skills that even the President would be impressed with. Her ability to locate information on anyone, anytime, anyplace was uncanny. She worked her way up in the force through her technological ability, unlike some. She was proud to be considered the best in her field, and her team knew it.
The high pressure case causes Gavin and Janet fall prey to their inner emotions and ease the tension between them, starting with a kiss. Vowing never to fall for or sleep with a man she works with, Janet is losing her battle with smart girl and going stupid. Gavin never wanted to be the skirt chasing executive, but in Janet’s case, he needed to find a way to make an exception. As tensions mount, Janet and Gavin realize there is more at stake here than the frightening hostage situation. Their hearts are also on the line.
Author, Adrienne Giordano writes a high-paced, action-filled sizzling romantic short. Her characters are sassy and sarcastic and fit perfectly with their professions of tactical and negotiating team. This is a great summertime read.

Negotiating Point by Adrienne Giordano
I love Adrienne Giordano as an author. She always has amazing stories, character interactions and POV changes flow well and the complexities of the story and relatability are well developed. I believe Negotiating Point is the first time I'm let down a little with the story itself. I felt that it was shorter than the first two books in the series, but that could be because the story's timeline was less than a day, and I think that is where all my disappointments come from It's hard to get relatable character depth and development in such a short time frame, I felt like I was missing out on the characters. The concept and the writing are well done though, and everything in a good story is covered. You have your kidnappers, hot heads with guns, leave headed hostage negotiator, small geeky girl with a big mans spine and sexual tension. The writing itself is wonderful, POV changes seamless and I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

My Review:

ah, I loved this story. It takes place over a single day, but Janet and Gavin have been working together for months while fighting their mutual attraction. When one of their own is kidnapped and put in a life or death situation, it brings to light the fragility of life. Suddenly for both Gavin and Janet, they realize that all those chances may just not be there tomorrow.

Janet is a computer geek. Gavin is a hostage negotiator and head-shrinker. In a romantic suspense, these are not your likely hero and heroine, but it works. Janet is nerdy and knows it. Gavin isn't bad (in fact, Janet thinks he's pretty sexy), but in an office full of serious alpha males, he does tend to fade a bit.

I really liked both these characters. They both know it's a really bad idea for them to get involved. Gavin is an executive. Janet doesn't want to be "that girl", but when things get crazy at their stakeout, so do their out-of-control hormones. It's all kinds of sexy fun!

I've loved this entire series and it was fabulous to get to read this little short and revisit many of the characters from the previous books. You all know I have an issue remembering details about books over time because I read so many. This is a series that I never have that issue with....so that should tell you something. These books stick with me!

Review from Backchatting Books

This is a fairly quick little read from Adrienne Giordano involving Janet Fink, the Private Protectors' resident geek and a hostage negotiator Gavin Sheppard. Gavin and Janet had a 'moment' a few weeks ago and things get a little awkward when they are both tasked with rescuing the boss' wife (Roxann from book #1). Gavin wants to try negotiating with the kidnapper while Vic wants to storm the place. Janet is stuck in the middle trying to keep the peace.

You can tell an awful lot about a person by how they react in a high stress environment. Gavin remains calm, (fairly) confident and pretty effective as a hostage negotiator. The fact that he was unwilling to make a move on Janet because he was a boss and she was an employee showed he had a bit of integrity too.

Janet was determined that she should be respected for her geeky skills rather than sleeping with an executive so has resolved herself to lust from afar. Her tech prowess helps give Gavin a bit of an edge when it comes to negotiating Roxann's release.

This is a short book so I'm afraid to say too much. Suffice to say, the romance and the rescue attempt make for interesting reading. It can be read by itself but I think you would appreciate the dynamics a bit more if you had read at least one other in the series.

This was a really short read. It’s only about 25,000 words and about 5 chapters so really, it was short. In this short story, Gavin Sheppard and Janet Fink get their happy ever after. They work together and they kissed three weeks ago. Gavin can’t stop thinking about the kiss but won’t pursue it because he’s in a supervisor role at work and Janet is support. He didn’t want to go there but when they’re thrown together on a case to help bring back their boss’s kidnapped wife, things are going to happen.

Janet has had a thing for Gavin for a while now and she wasn’t going to act on it until she thought he was going to die and when that happened, all bets were off.

I haven’t read anything by this author and I’m glad that I read this book because even though it was short and the tactical guy got on my hot damn nerves, I wanted to know more about this group of characters. I wanted to see them in action again. This short story whet my appetite for more from both Gavin and Janet. I wanted this story to continue, even after it finished because I wanted more from the romance between Gavin and Janet. The way that it was, everything happened much too fast and it was hard to move on when I wasn’t finished with them. But still, it was a good story and I’m definitely going to check out more stories from this author.

Beyond Reading

This novella was very interesting, to say the least. I wasn't sure what to make of it for a while, because it was as iif the romance took the backseat of a two-seater, though the tension was great - had me on edge. After the tension eased a little, though, the loving bit was very cute - the techie and the #1 mood manipulator(in a good way). Watching the hero and heroine scope out their feelings was super fun because they both seem very introverted, but they understood each other - not all that common in books. The problem with Negotiatingn Point being a novella, though, is that the romance was very rushed, which need not have happened, because of the time spent building the tension for the situation. My curiosity is definitely piqued, though, so I'm most likely going to be reading the previous books.

Negotiating Point by Adrienne Giordano
Gavin is a kidnapping negotiator and hopes to find out where his bosses wife is being held. The bad guys had sent her husband Mike an email with the link stating one of their own was unjustly accused and in jail and they need to not only release him but put it on the front page of the paper she works for.
Mike and Gavin wanted the tech geek Janet Fink along in solving this and Roxanne, Mike's wife was pregnant.
Using Facebook updates they are able to understand about the kidnappers and Gavin and Janet move into a house across the street from where Roxanne is being held hostage.
They have a lot of surveillance on the house and are able to stay on top of things 24/7. They also have a lot of time to get one another better.
They track down some leverage to use so maybe the kidnapper will give up and walk out without harming anybody....
