This is the 15th book in the Northwest Cozy Mystery Series by a USA Today Bestselling Author.
I enjoyed this book. The author has crafted a well thought out plot that kept me hooked until the end. This is book fifteen in the series and how the author keeps coming up with new fresh ideas all centred around a food catering business I don't know but somehow she manages it. I think it is due to the great cast of suspects that she creates with each book that join the wonderful main characters. Each one has a believable motive for wanting the victim dead. The mystery was good, it starts with the murder and then goes back in time to explain how everybody came to be at the party and any possible motive they had for wanting him dead. I hope the author has a lot more plot ideas for this series. DeeDee being the owner of the food catering business Delish all ways worries if she is going to serve the right food for the guest and this is doubling worrying when she receives a last minute job order and sees the guest list. Rich and famous Kade who is not only good looking but also has a bad boy reputation is attending. Along with his ex girlfriend Harper who he recently embarrassingly and publicly broke up with. Kade gets into a shouting match with the host and storms out of the diner party. Before the meal is over the police arrive at the party to say Kade had been involved in a car crash and they don't think it was an accident. With so many guests at the party who didn't like him DeeDee calls in her husband and private detective Jake to help. Was it the host who he just embarrassed in front of everybody by turning her business proposal to save her company down. Or the ex girlfriend he made a fool of? Or the Man who was supposed to run Kade's father's business after his death? Or his best friend? The man he stole lucrative business from. Even the server seemed to know Kade better than she is letting on. Can DeeDee and Jake help the police to catch the killer? I like the narrator she has a pleasant voice that she used well. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review..
This is book #15 in the series. I have read them all and have thoroughly enjoyed them. In this book the main characters are Dee Dee and her husband Jake. DeeDee and her assistant/partner Susie are on a catering gig when a murder takes place. As always the author gives you ideas on who the victim will be and who are the possible suspects. In this book, the victim is a high profile man. It seemed to be an accident but soon after a murder. All the suspects are the dinner guests and all are held for questioning at the dinner site. DeeDee calls her hubby Jake for support and help. As it turns out, the detective in charge was a high school classmate of Jake’s. With Jake and DeeDee’s help along with the many police officers on site, gather evidence and narrow the suspect list. One suspect is thought to be the murderer when the real murderer is revealed but his whereabouts are unknown . The suspect is still on the property…….The murderer is caught and confesses by the night’s ending. As a surprise ending, DeeDee is offered a restaurant of her own choosing! Possibly book #16 will reveal DeeDee’s plan. This is very easy reading and the plot is quite enjoyable as a cozy mystery usually is. Can’t wait to start #16; will it include Cassie and her hubby?
There are "bad boys" and then there are mean, selfish boys who really don't care who they step on or hurt! Kade is both of the above! Women love him until he does them wrong-which he usually does. Men trust him until they realize that he will stab them in the back as soon as look at them! There is even a rumor that he murdered his own father!
Needless to say no one really cared that he was in a massive car accident and died. He had left a swank party in a huff and drove off. DeeDee was catering the party and was worried that people would think it was the food she prepared--She ultimately called her husband for help. They helped the police figure out who did it and why.
In a switch for this author a cat helped detain the murderer! Cat's can be very protective and intuitive just like dogs on occasion!
My only complaint was that our ex Brooklyn mobster was not in this one--but then he would not have fit in with the type of people at this dinner party!!
A local man Kade dies shortly after he left a dinner party that DeeDee catered. A lot of people admired Kade, but others knew exactly what he was really like. And he wasn’t a nice person to some people. But who killed him? Since DeeDee was the caterer of the dinner party, naturally she gets involved in the investigation. I enjoy this series because there are a lot of twists and suspects. And there’s some humor in the story as well. I felt that the narration of the audiobook was enjoyable.
Thank you for another captivating Cozy Mystery. Your books are always easy to read and follow. I can finish your book in one sitting. It’s always nice to see the bad person get caught ar the end of the book. I have enjoyed over 100 of your books and kinda know your formula. But most of the time it is a surprise ending. I’m hooked. I love my Dianne Harman Kindle Bubble. Robert Ericksen
When Deedee and her helper, Susie get a last minute dinner to cater they have no idea of the drama behind it. They hope this will be a stepping stone to more upscale bookings because some of the guests are famous. Once again there are many suspects after the murder and it is fun to have Deedee and Jake work together. Also the recipes at the end will make your mouth water.
Has the author compiled a recipe book of all of these great recipes? I’d love to be a character in the book just to eat her samples. Another good cozy mystery but the endings just get wrapped up a little too quickly and it’s always because the police missed a clue. If you want to lose yourself in a series, this is the series for you!
I haven’t read about Dee Dee & Jake in awhile. As always I love their chemistry and how their minds work. Dee Dee has an intuition that never lets her down. When Jake gets involved he is able to verbalize what Dee Dee is thinking. This was a great read and the food as always makes me wish I could cook like Dee Dee.
15th in the Northwest Cozy Mystery series, this one finds chef DeeDee catering an event for a businesswoman in Seattle. Although a small gathering, it’s an important one for the hostess with her future riding on it. One of the guests she invites has the money to help her, but he is not a nice man, and when he’s found murdered at the event, there are several likely suspects. A fun read!
Another delicious interesting whodunit. When catering a high end dinner party, tragedy ends the night and DeeDee and Jake are once again in the midst of the investigation. Very enjoyable.
It’s always fun to smell all the good cooking coming from DeeDee and her catering business of Delish. However, another catering job seems to be followed by another murder. Which guest will die? How did that person in? Read it to find out.
DeeDee and Susie are catering a small dinner party for a business woman and of course a member of the dinner party is murdered. And now we must try to figure out who it was. Such entertaining storyline!
I am following this series and this book had so many plausible haters of the victim. It seemed like .OK. Here is another one who could take the victim out. Each suspect had a great reason to want him dead. Finally he met his demise and the killer was found.
This story has several suspects, each with motive enough to kill. It kept me guessing to the end and I didn't guess correctly. I really enjoyed this book.
I just love all your books ,just keep them coming. Way to go Dianne. Always a pleasure to sit and read all your books, we are neighbors, I live in Anaheim.
This is a well written and developed characters. The story is catching and with the strong characters makes for a very enjoyable read. Great Reading Everyone!
