Wolf Reborn

Rate this book
Tori Bowen, Failure. Reject. Outcast. Matriarch...?

A week down in Cornwall catching up on shifter gossip with Aunt Magda was exactly what I'd needed. The one night stand with a smoking hot alpha was supposed to be the final cherry on top of a fantastic week. Except that was only the beginning.

My mother was killed, which makes me the new matriarch. That hot one night stand? My lifebond. And the one remaining pack member that I'd now have to live with? He's the guy who worked very hard to get me kicked out of the pack.

The council, having heard about my new position, gave me an ultimatum. Find two more life partners within six months, or give the pack territory and business over to my Aunt Nissa. The same aunt that might as well have 'evil bitch' tattooed on her forehead.

Now I have to figure out how to run a sprawling business, work alongside the guy who hates me, and find two more life partners. Or lose everything the pack that disowned me spent generations working for. The odds aren't looking great.

This book is not suitable for readers under 18. Tori will get together with three guys over the course of the trilogy. They will have their HEA together at the end of book 3.

It’s ok

The story is really short, but was detailed in the beginning somewhat. I read it all but still have so many questions. Questions like, I still don’t understand what exactly Cole was protecting her from. I still don’t understand the big bad thing, her aunt? Ok. We saw barely any conflict, there was a curse that is laid upon her and is broken entirely too easily and quickly, even though it had been on her her whole life we presume.

The time line of the story was somewhat difficult to follow as well. I also don’t know much about this world or the rules of it, and I’m not sure if that’s bc our FMC didn’t know either or because there were details missing.

The writing is in the “telling” format and not the showing. Many things are glossed over, and move forward without living it through the character’s eyes while it is happening in the present.

Overall, I do not think I am going to continue with the book. I feel like she let off Cole wayyyyy too easily for how much of a jerk he was to her. I don’t think I could get over that so quickly, and I disliked how once he told her she suddenly was seeing him in a new light. He was still a jerk, and allowed others to treat her poorly that isn’t cool. Not only that but he knew he was her lifebond but suppressed it, I still don’t understand why.

She seemed to have a ton of resentment toward the pack, and they talk about said pack, but not once do we see pack members that I recall or rather blatant pack members not just gossipers, interacting with their new matriarch but yet she’s making tons of decisions.

Someone broke into their wards but we don’t know who. They left a glittery pinecone...one she had made when she was younger. It disappeared from the conversation entirely.

Then when she was going to announce on tv what went down the book ends. Like really weird place to go.

It was ok

It was a decent read but nothing really happened and the whole deep dark secret that Cole held was either forgotten or just exposed without his reaction. Plus, the author changed the spelling of a name from one chapter to the next. I’m not sure this book needed to be split.

Love this new author!

Wolf Reborn is the first book of a new shifter series about a female shifter, Tori, who has not been able shift, has a one-night stand with a wolf who turns out to be her lifebond (i.e. fated mate), and becomes the matriarch of her pack after the death of her mother.

I gotta start by saying Knox was truly such a breath of fresh air when it comes even to fated mates. Heck even the FMC couldn't fight about it or pitch a fit and that isn't something we really see in this trope (or at all, let's be real). It was really great watching how the relationships developed in this first book. I felt eveyone's reactions made sense and weren't drama for drama's sake making the characters feel more real.

This book also had a suprising amount of politcal and social intrigue that was done really well. As you are reading, you can see whats going on and you just want to tear your heart out because you can see some merit to all the sides. It's a lose-lose situation and everyone is just trying to make the best of it.

We don't meet all the mates in book 1 and I can't wait to see how that all goes down considering everything that happened in this first installment. The ending gives you a good idea where the next book is going and I'm looking forward to how this series will grow from where it ends here. All in all, this was really an unexpected surprise, as this is a new author to me, and I will definitely be keeping an eye out for future books released.

* I randomly recieved an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.

Amazing first book in the series

This is an RH paranormal romance book based around wolf shifters in a world with witches, dragons and other species all love in proximity to humans. It's set in the UK which doesn't happen often, being from the UK that was a nice change for me recognising place names.

Tori has been shunned by her pack and the guy who was supposed to love her as she is a shifter without a wolf and was considered lesser by everyone she met apart from her Aunt Magda who has always shown her kindness unlike the rest of the world, she's been used and made to feel worthless.

Knox is a guy that saw a hot girl and wanted a good time, he definitely got more than he bargained for.

Cole has secrets and his feelings for Tori are complex and as far as he is concerned her being sent away was the best thing for her, not that she see it that way.

When Tori's mother dies she is thrust back into pack life, she's expected to lead how can she lead when she knows nothing about shifter politics. Does she really want to when all they've shown her is the bad and thrown her away for being less than.

This book has a lot of mystery and intrigue, it sets up the world nicely and gives you a good introduction to the main characters and their dynamics.

I really enjoyed it and can't wait for the next one

I loved this book!!! I could not put it down. The MFC Tori is so strong. Everything that is thrown her way she handles with her chin up and head held high. She is truly an amazing woman. Her mates have you loving them and at same time wanting to slap them upside the head at times, but they do the right thing by her in the end. The story grips you from the start and all you want is more. And the minute you think you have it figured out it changes. It definitely keeps you on your toes and intrigued. I can not wait to see what happens in book two. This book is witty, steamy in parts, sad, twisted and has great story telling. It will leave you wanting more ASAP. And the ending leaves you wanting the next book just to see what happens next. I highly recommend this book!!!!

Tori is my spirit animal!! This story gripped me from the start. Everything that is thrown her way, she handles and doesn't keep her down. Her mates are another thing all on their own. Sometimes I want to hug them and others I want to spank, but all around they have stolen my heart. The trails all of them find themselves in keeps you on your toes and wanting to find out what happens next. I'm still sitting here needing the next book. This book is witty, has the steam I craved, emotional to the point I want to be stabby at times, and the plot is solid. Thank you Skye for writing such an amazing book!! Now get to writing so I can have book 2, please!

This is the first book I have read by Cavenaugh, but it won’t be the last. I really enjoyed Tori. I love her attitude. She is strong, but also a little bit of a mess. She has been rejected by her pack and one of the guys she thought would be her mate, but has created a new life for herself. Then her mom dies and she gains a lifebond (aka mate). I liked Knox and Cole is growing on me. Although there was one point that I really wanted to shake Knox. I expected it from Cole but not Knox. I’m also curious about Cole’s secret. I’m hooked and excited to see what happens next.

Different but in a good way.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first part of Tori's story. Different to a lot of the shifter series I have read but in a good way. The story was a little slower than I'm use to but was amazing nonetheless.

It’s interesting

I don’t know how I feel about this book. The storyline and flow was good, some typos but otherwise good. Had some suspense and a nice ending that left it open for the next book. It was ok.

Ok

This was just an okay read for me. I didn't particularly care for the characters and the story was just alright but not good. Not sure if I will read book 2 yet or not.

Over use of word smirk in beginning

Overuse of the word smirk for the first few chapters drove me insane. Otherwise good story. Please don’t overuse words.
