They thought they were safe… They thought they were together forever… But Fate thought otherwise.
With one enemy dead and the other disgraced, everything suggests that Kat, Thomas and their children should at last be safe. After all, Thomas is beginning his term as elected leader of the Aurigan exiled community on Earth. But across the galaxy a dark force is stirring… the shadow of a past that might become a future.
Anstey’s Legacy is the final book in the ‘Anstey’s Kingdom’ trilogy. Kat and Thomas – whose parents fled to Earth from a war on a distant planet – are settled, together with their children, as part of a small community of alien exiles living in seventeenth-century England. The two have defeated the dictator who persecuted them and discredited the woman who attempted to bring about Thomas’s death. It appears as if their troubles are over. But as they discover the whole truth about Anne Gomfrey’s betrayal, they are wholly unprepared for the Aurigan military… for a powerful empath-hypnotist who threatens their future and their love… for an unscrupulous general in search of slaves for his hellish work-camp and weapons facility. Only Kat has the strength to save them… if she is willing… but then who will save her?
Susan Hancock PhD, is a former University Lecturer who has written and published academic non-fiction over a number of years. She gave up teaching in order to concentrate on her battle with a cancer which is now fortunately dormant. Fingers crossed.
In a surprising move, she became obsessed with the idea of writing a novel for adults and ended up writing three, the Anstey’s Kingdom trilogy. She has discovered that characters are hard taskmasters, determined that their stories should be told. It is not uncommon to find her in tears at the laptop when something dreadful happens to one or other of them. But they and she understand that some things cannot be changed.
I’ve really enjoyed following Thomas and Kat’s journey through this trilogy and seeing their characters grow and change. In each book in the series, they have faced a different set of trials. Now their adopted daughter Bess is growing up and finding love (not that Thomas approves) and Thomas and Kat are more connected and passionate than ever before. However, when a group of militant Aurigans arrive, including one with exceptional mindreading and mind control powers, everything they’ve built is threatened. Suddenly, Kat and Thomas and the rest of their friends find themselves teleported across space as part of a rescue/kidnapping mission (picture Obi Wan here with his famous “I told you the truth from a certain point of view” line) and they’re in a huge fix. As always, Susan Hancock’s ensemble cast work is exceptional, and I especially enjoyed the clever crafting of new characters Blanche and Isabel in this one.
I don't normally read science fiction, but I was drawn to this compelling love story of Aurigans Thomas and Kat. This book is the final part of the trilogy, with the couple facing their greatest challenges as they attempt to rescue their friends and loved ones. Characters are well fleshed out and easy to identify with. I also really liked the contrast between the two worlds: the alien planet with its advanced technology and Elizabethan era England.
This is the final book in Susan Hancock's Anstey's trilogy. Each book was better than the last and the first one was terrific. The characters are so real as are the emotions which draw you into the lives of these people. If you like historical fantasy fiction, time travel, and romance, you will love this series. You can read them in order or out of order. Each stand alone. Such enjoyment.
This was the last book of the Anstey's Kingdom trilogy, and what a book! I couldn't put it down. As the emotional and filled with action story climbs towards the ending, the reader is unsure until the last lines what will happen... And what an ending! It leaves you stunned, holding the book, and not believing your eyes whilst your heart races. The trilogy has a great arc, and Book 3 is possibly the most breath-taking of all. I whole-heartedly recomment this trilogy to all readers who are looking for books out of the ordinary, daring to deal with tough topics, not shying from showing true and raw emotions, and ever-lasting, bonding love, all this in a blend of genres, and written in a nowadays rarely seen literary writing style.
I'm not sure what genre these books belong. I would recommend them whatever your taste.
This is the third book in the series, and I still couldn’t put it down. I stayed up reading until the small hours of the morning. I don’t know how to categorise these books. They are a cross between historical and science fiction but still make for a great adventure, and you wouldn’t be wrong if you said they are romantic fiction either. With all the twists and turns, great characters and storylines. I would thoroughly recommend the whole series.
Love this series. Books 1 and 2 were amazing and book 3 did not disappoint. I also love when authors have an awesome imagination and Miss Hancock's imagination is top tier. Wow! What an adventure man! So let me just say, part 3 of this wonderful adventure left me 80% satiated and I'm greedy and feeling like I want more... I need more. Requesting a book 4. Thank you in advance.
Edge of the seat adventure. I didn't expect THAT ending! Liked all three books. I bought all three books (no freebies) but should mention that I'm a family member (who is amazed at how good they were.)
