Traitor, Killer, Enemy those were just some of the words his former team at Eidolon now call him.
Gunner Ramberg spent his life paying for the sins he committed as a child, fighting to make life better for the sister he adores and almost killed. Eidolon was supposed to be his first chance to fit in somewhere. For a while, he foolishly thought he could be happy, but when his sister was kidnapped, his life was turned upside down.
Forced to betray the team he thought of as family to save his own flesh and blood, Gunner finds himself praying for death to end the guilt and shame he now carries.
Lacey Cannon walked away from fame for a quiet life and a real home. After the man who should’ve loved her hurt her more than anyone else, Lacey decides she needs to claw her way to happiness on her own.
On the way to regaining her happiness and security, Lacey runs into the man who saved her life, a man who has starred in many of her dreams and fantasies, but he is broken, haunted by the secrets in his past.
After a chance encounter, and a night together, Gunner has hope for a tomorrow he thought he’d never get, and Lacey’s new focus is to heal Gunner and give him a reason to live.
Their newfound peace is put at risk when an unknown foe comes after Lacey. With secrets and suspicion around every corner, Gunner and Lacey must fight for their future happiness despite the world being against them, and their enemy’s determination to destroy them.
Gunner. I have been waiting a long time for Gunner's redemption and it is perfection. It was everything I wanted in his story and more. From guilt to forgiveness, despair to love. This book made my heart swell with happiness.
I have always thought that Gunner's book needed to be special because it would take a lot to redeem him after his forced betrayal of his team. Honestly, Gunner was always a bit of a mystery man and sat in the background of things. It's only as the series evolved that we got to know him and not in the best of light. Despite his betrayal of his team under extenuating circumstances, Gunner is a good man. He's also lost. Weighed down by guilt, closing in on him from all sides. Guilt over what happened to his sister, guilt over having to betray a team he loved like family, and guilt over not being able to protect his sister better. Underneath all the guilt, Gunner is a good man. He tried his best to mitigate a lot of what he was forced to do, sabotaging the sabotage so to speak. But with working both sides, things and life get complicated. It was wonderful to see Gunner hope again. To find someone who gave him a reason to live, a reason to wake up in the morning. Who became his purpose when he had none left in himself.
Lacey is lovely. Despite the trauma of her past, she's building a new life for herself and that takes guts. Along the way to that new life is Gunner. I love that Gunner's appearance added a spark to Lacey's life but also complicated it. Lacey is a strong woman and she can handle a complication like Gunner. I loved that she was in his corner and that she cared for him despite what people were saying about him. Things get rocky as one point but I'm glad they find their way back to each other. Nothing worth having is easy, is it? Especially not with a man like Gunner.
This book has so many moving parts as a major story arc comes to a head while juggling the intense emotions of not only Gunner and Lacey, but also the Eidolon team as they work through their own feelings of forgiveness and acceptance. Some handle it better than others, but at the end of the day, they are a team first and foremost and they each need to work through their own feelings of betrayal to find grace and pardon Gunner. It was a long and emotional road, but the outcome is worth it.
I think this might be one of Ms Wade's best books yet and it surprises me because I didn't expect this book to be such a stand out for me. Ms Wade put everything into redeeming Gunner and I'm #teamgunner to the very end. I love when a book surprises me and this one surprised the heck out of me. I loved every moment of it.
A story of love and redemption, bringing all the emotions.
This story is a long time coming, bringing light to the underlying story that has been in all the previous books in the series. It was horrible when we found out who it was, worse when we thought we understood why but the real truth is the worst of all.
Gunner lives a life of self hatred, despising what he did as a child to the person he loved the most, his hero and best friend then further hating letting his friends down and betraying them. The love he has for his family shines off the pages and is very well written, as is the developing love he has for Lacey. He genuinely doesn’t feel deserving of her love and can’t understand how and why she trusts him with her feelings.
When the threat he’s trying to eliminate with Eidolon seemingly comes to her door because of him, he can’t walk away and is willing to beg Eidolon to help keep her safe.
Lacey has had feelings for Gunner since her kidnapping but has tried her hardest to get over everything and find her inner strength. When a threat that looks like her ex appears, Gunner is there to protect and help her whilst making her fall deeper for him every day.
This story follows the unravelling of Gunners betrayal, forgiveness and ultimate redemption bringing him back into the Eidolon fold once more.
Well written with so much feeling, another exciting instalment that makes you crave the next book
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I’ve been waiting for Gunner’s book for a while and Ms Wade did not disappoint me! This book is an emotional read and had me crying more than once. You need to stock up on tissues before you read it. Gunner betrayed his chosen brothers in order to save his severely disabled sister and can’t forgive himself for this and the accident that caused his sister’s disability when he was only 6. He is a man haunted by his past. Lacey is a friend of Skye and a former model and now clothing designer. She has her on demons thanks to her ex boyfriend. He is in jail for kidnapping and beating her. Gunner and his friends had to rescue her. The two had just met and had a connection but life got in the way. They meet again and the spark is still there but life is still getting in the way. Lacey is being threatened and Gunner is trying to make amends to Jack and his brothers at Eidolon. This book is action pack and a great one. This is a great new addition to the series and may be my favorite. I think I say that about each one though lol.
Oh wow! I just loved this book. Due to a childish prank, Gunner’s life and that of his sister changed dramatically when he was a young boy, and he has spent the whole of his life trying to make amends. He eventually found himself working with a team he felt he was fitting in with but then had to betray when his sister was kidnapped. Working undercover to try to help them he felt he had reached rock bottom and didn’t care whether he lived or died. Lacey had been rescued from her violently abusive boyfriend by the team some time previously, and was stranded overnight at a hotel due to bad weather when they met up again. They both feel the attraction and spent time together playing a drinking game - however, someone has been in Lacey’s room and trashed it. This is an emotional (have tissues handy), story at times, full of twists, with different strands of stories running throughout the book, and brings in many of the team members of Eidolon, Fortis and Zenobi. I thoroughly recommend this book, and can’t wait to read Waggs story.
I knew before going in that this would be a tear jerker and I was right. Gunner has been through so much pain ever since as a little boy he made a mistake, one I'm sure many, many kids have made over the years but one that hopefully didn't have the same result. The guilt has ate at him throughout his life, but he has done the absolute best he could to try and atone a little. For Lacey still suffering from the trauma her ex put her through she is looking to move on and start fresh. With both their pasts colliding and with an attraction that started at a previous meeting that starts to blossom. With some intrigue, plenty of suspense and action this is a fast paced read and at times quite edgy. Powerful people are trying to bring the Country to it's knees, can the team not only forgive and work with Gunner but over come the evil causing all the problems? I've read this and know the answer and can highly recommend reading this, I do suggest you read the other series first since the characters do overlap and help out, plus several are now connected in other ways. Anyone who likes a bit of a mix romance with some action and deep issues would love this.started 2/2/21 finished 3/2/21
I have read a couple of books from this talented author but she continues to blow my mind. I love a good military romance but this story exceeded my expectations. This is the sixth book of the addictive series Eidolon Black Ops. This book could be read as a stand alone but there are previous characters in this story as well. As I was reading I fell in love with other characters so now I’ll have to read the others to this series as well. I was so hooked on this book I could not stop until I was finished. It only took me a little over a day to devour this amazing story.
Gunner Ramberg had a really tough life when he was little. He and his sister had to go live with his grandmother after a horrible accident with their parents. Gunner loves his sister so much but he almost killed her and now as an adult he carries that guilt everyday. He is all alone until he meets the beautiful Lacey. Gunner felt something as he saved from her insane ex. He wants to find happiness but he doesn’t know if he can. Can Gunner find peace with Lacey or will their pasts destroy them both?
Gunner: An Eidolon Black Ops Novel By Maddie Wade 5 out of 5 stars
I loved reading the book Gunner: An Eidolon Black Ops Novel by Maddie Wade. It is a story that pulled me in, and I didn’t want to put it down until the final page. I loved the characters of Gunner Ramberg and Lacey Cannon. What does the future hold for them? Read this book to find out. This is a story that had me turning pages to find out what happens next. Other additional characters have their part to play. Some of them are helpful to Lacey and Gunner, while others have other motives. The author does an amazing job of making the story and the characters come alive. I have read several books by this author and I have never been disappointed with any of her books. Don’t miss out on reading an exciting, entertaining, and intriguing book. I highly recommend it.
What I like about Maddie Wade's books are what she has the characters say. Gunner's book has heaps of good dialogue. An example, after Roz has given birth to her child says to Gunner, "Lacey needs to realise that life isn't black and white, it has shades of grey with shadows, and that is where men like you live." You will have to read the book to find out who makes this comment, "What is your suggestion, Jack. You never come to me with problems, only solutions. It is one of the reasons I feel safe with Eidolon." Discussing the new female bodyguard provided, "She is such a hoot, and I must say, very proficient." Also, "...is going to show me a few self-defence moves. Isn't that exciting." Look for Jack's emotional response to this!! Gunner is the sixth book in the Eidolon Black Ops series. Looking forward to the next book in the series. What will Maddie Wade put "Waggs" through before the epilogue. Recommended to readers who like well thought out plots, highs and lows of emotional dialogue and swoonworthy relationships.

This book brings the saying “Never Judge a Book by its Cover” to mind. (Not Literally because the book cover is 🔥) Reading through the Eidolon series, Gunner has probably been my least favorite until this book came out because of his betrayal to his Eidolon brothers, but after reading just a couple of chapters, my whole perspective of Gunner changed. He has been through so much, and he deserves to find peace and love. I’m so glad that Lacey is the woman that he finds it with. I’ve liked Lacey from the very beginning when she was introduced in Nate and Skye’s wedding novella. If you haven’t read that, it is a good one to read before starting this book. It gives a great backstory into Lacey.
I really enjoyed this book! I have had a love hate relationship with Gunner from the previous books, but after this book, he is very securely added to the ideal book hero category. In short, Gunner is a sexy, protective alpha male with a tortured soul. Lacy is a strong independent woman with a few emotional scars as a result of an abusive ex. They are exactly what the other one needs and bring out the best in each other. A wonderful read with some of my favorite book family members, filled with love, sparks and all the feels. A definite must read. This book is part of a series and although you can still read this as a stand-alone, I highly recommend reading the other books in the series before reading this book. You will not regret reading this series.
Lacey is so strong for all she has endured even when she feels weak. Gunner feels he doesn't deserve anything good in his life, but he just can't help himself from reaching for it when Lacey shows back up into his life. Both have dangerous enemies that will stop at nothing to get what they want. Gunner is determined to protect Lacey at all costs, just as Lacey is prepared to protect Gunner from himself and anyone else. Even their friends if need be. It is nice to watch their love grow and to see them as they try to build a life. A very good book with action, despair, lots of love and friendship. This book won't disappoint . (I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review)
Gunner was forced to betray his co-workers (and his friends) in an earlier book of Maddie's, and this is finally his story. Gunner has a lot of guilt weighing him down, from both a tragic event when he was young, and the more recent events regarding Eidolon and his sister. In this story, he gets his chance at redemption. Lacey is someone he didn't know he needed in his life, but someone who makes him want to live again.
I always like Maddie's stories, they draw you into this romantic, but also very dangerous, world. I enjoy that the characters from other books/series' overlap, and love the big Eidolon/Fortis/Zenobi family, that continues to grow. I am excited to read Waggs' story next!
Wow. I wondered how this story would go and how Gunner would get his HEA. His journey has not been easy. This story shows how the family we choose will always have our backs in the end, even when put in an impossible situation. A great read.
What an awesome story. Gunner an Lacey’s story is a great reminder that we all have demons but they can be overcome. This story is full of action, twists and turns. Gunner feels guilty for his past and does not feel worthy. Lacey is trying to overcome her past. They both have trust issues but together wow! I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can not wait to read more about the other characters
What a wonderful emotional read. Gunner is a good man who made mistakes and blames himself and Lacey is trying to start with a clean slate. Both these characters have so much going on and it was lovely to see how they could find it in themselves to trust one another and let the other one in. Loved Gunner’s story and would definitely recommend.
I really enjoyed this book! Gunner broke my heart. I'm so glad he got a second chance of redemption! It's action packed I was on the edge of my seat! I highly recommend this book and series!
Excellent Excellent Book I loved this book kept me on the edge of my seat I will be reading more of made its books and I highly recommend this book to everyone Dorothy Schaefer
I've been waiting for Gunners storyline since reading the last Eidolon book. This one has lots of twists and turns and of course sizzle between Gunner and Lacy. He believes his life isn't worth living but when he reconnects with Lacy he wants a chance at a better life and hoping its with her. There is multiple plots within the story and Maddie does a fantastic job bringing in all characters from her previous books.

You know you are reading a great book when you are hooked from the beginning and do not move until you have finished the book. My poor heart can’t take all this emotion and is so well written I want to go back and read again. This story has all i have come to expect of a Maddie Wade book: drama , suspense , alpha males , great believable plot line. I’d love to live in a world where these characters exist as they have become like a family to us readers.
What an awesome read. Gunner an Lacey’s story. This story is full of action and twists and turns. Gunner, everything he has done in weighing heavy on his mind. He is feeling guilty about everything. Lacey is trying to get her life together an wants to make a new start. I love this story. It is vividly written in a fast paste. I love this group of people.
Gunner (Eidolon Black Ops ~ Book 6), by Maggie Wade, I borrowed from the Kindle Unlimited Program.
Gunner has been trapped by an act of his childhood and the enemies of Eidolon have taken advantage of him by kidnapping his brain damaged older sister. His brothers at Eidolon thought of him as a traitor, killer and their enemy but things are changing while Gunner remains undercover seeking information to stop the threat to Eidolon and the British Royal Family.
A chance meeting while stranded by weather with Lacey Cannon changes everything for Gunner; they had met before and he helped rescue her from a deranged ex and this time they connected as he again took the role as her protector.
Love the strong, yet not perfect heroes in this series and the strong women that support them on many levels.
Omg what a great book, this is the first book, I have read in this series and even thou they are standalone books, they all connect together so now I need to read from book 1. This book was really good. It was so well written and had a great storyline. The characters in this book were perfect, Gunner and Lacey were great story characters. With really upsetting pasts. It was so nice to read about the other characters that have starring roles in their own books, it made this book better. Loved it highly recommend

Great story! I have been hoping for this story for several books. I really hoped Gunner would get redemption after his past actions caused so much trouble and not become a "lost cause" to Eidolon. I Just knew there had to be more to his story, and Maddie wrote that story in such a way that everyone can feel for him. Lacey was a saving grace and there was so much heart in the story of forgiveness, plus action and suspense. And of course seeing the Fortis and Zenobi teams collaborate was awesome..
Gunner is a great redemption story. I could not put it down! Maddie Wade did an awesome job with the insight into the characters in this book. Gunner’s motivation to become a part of the Eidolon team again and his love for Lacey makes for a sexy, suspenseful book. It’s definitely a page turner! Lacey is a strong, resilient, protective woman. She is an excellent match for Gunner’s alpha heart of gold. Can he protect her and his family? You also get great glimpse into Jack too. I can’t wait for Wags’s book!
This book had me at hello, I could not put it down. The first 3 pages just broke my heart and told you so much about Gunner. I don't think I can describe my emotions over this book. But I will say this, OMG it was great. If you have been reading the Eidolon series then you have been waiting on this one. I can't recommend it enough it is that good.
This is Gunner Rambergs story, he is tortured by guilt and shame after his sister got hurt in an accident which changed his, her and his Amma’s life forever, but when she was kidnapped he made a decision to save her and break the ties to the new family he had at his place of work, Eidolon. This burdens him with even more guilt and shame and is causing him to want to give up on everything else because of it, especially when he is approached again by the same people and asked to perform betrayal all over again, but when he is delayed in Düsseldorf, Germany, he has a chance encounter with an old friend at the hotel in which they are both staying. Lacey Cannon is on her way to a new start in England, but when she is delayed in Düsseldorf and has to check into a hotel overnight, she is stressed out and decides to use the hotel’s swimming pool to work out her worry, however, while she is there, she feels like she is being watched, but casting the paranoia aside, she goes back to her room and decides to go down to the bar for a drink to settle her nerves, but when she gets there, the last thing she is expecting is to run into Gunner, the man who rescued her for an ex she longs to forget and their connection is immediate and strong.
As the night progresses, they are getting along like a house on fire and have had a fair few drinks, Lacey is a bit worse for wear and Gunner wants to drop her off in her room, but when they open the door and see that it is trashed, Lacey is an emotional wreck as her past experiences come back to her with a vengeance. Gunner decides to take Lacey back to his room and proceeds to call the boss of Eidolon and explain what has happened and that she will need protecting when she gets to the airport and home, so when that is all sorted and he has spoken to the hotel managers, he insists that she stays in his room for the night. When Lacey wakes up in the middle of the night screaming, she finds that she is in Gunners arms and unexpectedly he opens up about his past and Lacey sees what is going on inside his head and wanting to help take the pain from him, she kisses him, before either of them can stop, one thing leads to another and passion ignites between them, leading to one night together. Gunner wakes up later on and leaving a note by her bedside, packs his things and leaves, he doesn’t want her in any danger again and he knows that he will undoubtedly be putting her there if he stays any longer, but when Lacey wakes up to find him gone, she is sad, but their because of their conversations the night before, she understands why he left and even though she doesn’t like it, she accepts it.
As she thinks about her past, her ex and how different Gunner is and how he makes her feel, she is still sad some weeks later, but what she doesn’t know is that Gunner feels the same way, although he won’t let himself get too close to her, meanwhile, Gunner has gone back to Eidolon to explain why he did what he did and to warn them about what he is currently doing, hoping that it will make up for what he has done, but as things progress, he realises that Lacey has given him a reason to live and now he wants to do everything in his power to make that happen, but will the past repeat itself, or will this new enemy think of different ways to cause pain and heartache? Can Gunner make right the past and work for a future, or will his enemies make good on their threats and take away everything he has worked for? This story will keep you in suspense and on your toes while secrets are revealed, new enemies are discovered and past enemies are renewed, but the twists will make you keep reading to find out what happens in the end.
Gunner An Eidolon Black Ops Novel By: Maddie Wade Narrated by: Piers Ryman
Maddie Wade delivers some more Eidolon Black Ops greatness with Gunner’s story and after hearing of Gunner’s betrayal I was interested to know more about him and why he would do what he did when his teammates spoke so highly of him. Gunner is trying to pick up the pieces of his life, he lost the best thing that ever happened to him, becoming a member of the Eidolon team. The man has always carried the weight of the world on his shoulders since he was a young boy and that tragic day, a day that haunted him the rest of his life. Lacey Cannon walked away from her old life choosing for a much quieter one but she is still looking for her own happiness and after running into Gunner, the man who saved her life, and having a chance encounter with him she is hoping for more. Gunner felt the same but he needs to get rid of his inner demons and self worth issues first. Lacey’s past is not done with her and neither is Gunner’s, he will do what he can to protect her and do a better job handling things with his former team, who he brings in to help. Eidolon is also working on another threat and we get to watch the team members do their thing and hear them out about Gunner again. There is never a dull moment in this cleverly plotted story, it contains a perfect balance of drama, angst, mystery, thrilling suspense, heartfelt emotions and a wonderful romance. Maddie Wade, thank you for another great story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 Piers Ryman did a fabulous job bringing these characters to life and their story to life and did so with a complete understanding of the characters he was portraying, giving each their own voice and personality, making it easy to follow along and tell who is who. He set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions, and projected them into his performance. Piers Ryman is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the great listen.
