Blood Fury MC #7

Blood & Bones: Rook

Rate this book
It’s a thin line between love and hate...

Secrets.
Every one of his brothers in the Blood Fury MC has them.
Including Rook.
Especially Rook.
What he’s done in his past. What he’s involved in currently. What he still needs to do.
Even worse, what he’s tempted to do.
With someone no one expects.
Least of all him.
But resisting her is impossible, no matter how much he tries.
Problem is, his club’s on the verge of war, so she’s either with the Fury or against them.
If she’s against them, she’s against them all.
Including Rook.
Especially Rook.
Which will turn the thin line into an insurmountable wall dividing them forever.

Note: Blood & Bones: Rook is the seventh book in the Blood Fury MC series and is an enemies-to-lovers romance. As always, this book has no cheating, no cliffhanger and has an HEA. It’s recommended to read this series in order.

This one was just ok for me. A big part of that was I had a hard time buying into Rook and Jet together. That either of them would stoop to wanting to be with the other at any point was odd to me, even as things started out as a hate fuck, like Rook mentioned when they were outed. I think the choices that had to be made at the end were valid ones, someone had to give something up. I also think the right person made the right choice. It will be interesting to see this couple around in future books.

Fantastic addition to the Blood Fury MC series! Rook has no use for “pigs”. Jet comes from a family of law enforcement. Lots of push and pull going on here but when things get dicey with the Shirley’s ( on going story in the series) Rook and Jet are on the same side. Can’t wait for Rev’s story.

Secrets always have a way to be revealed and when they do it is never a good thing. So when Rook is keeping the mother of all secrets from his MC brotherhood and the bottom falls out it might be the end of colors. Relationships and love cannot be denied - but when you are in bed with the enemy it can only make the reader locked into the story and not want it to end. Probably one of the best books in the series!! Jeanne St. James you never disappoint!!

Plot
Honestly, there wasn't one. I really can't tell you what happened beyond:
💕 Rook & Jet hooked up and regretted it A LOT
🐶 Rook got a Chihuahua that hated everyone except him and Jey
🚓 Feds busted up the Shirley's (and we don't even get to see it) after the club has talked about doing it forever
That's it. That's really it

Characters ⭐ ⭐
Two stars because I like Jet. She doesn't take his nonsense, doesn't get jealous, and doesn't let anyone tell her what to do. She's tough and independent, but not in an obvious way like she's trying to prove something.
Rook is pretty much like all the other guys only more basic. There was nothing special or memorable about him beyond is hate of cops.
Suffice to say she carried the story/romance for me

Spice 🌶️ 🌶️
Explicit but nothing special or extra steamy, which is fine.

I wasn't sure about Rook he was always a bit of an ass in previous stories and I wasn't a fan after reading how he treated Cage when they were little boys. I get it he went through the same stuff Cage had but I thought he would look out for him more. I was glad to see no matter what a jerk he was that wasn't all he was.

The forbidden love between a biker and cop has been done before by Jeanne with the Dirty Angels when Axel whose life is on the straight and narrow (unlike his brother Zak) falls for Bella who is a Dirty Angel down to her soul. I wondered how this story would differ apart from the cop this time being a woman. I'm happy to say that the story was very different and I wondered how they would find a way to work. I didn't see the solution coming and I kind of wanted to smack myself for not seeing it sooner.

Rook hates cops, he's been in and out of jail since he was 15, but Jet is a cop wrapped in a package he wants. Jet is a Bryson and has been attracted to Rook since she started with Manning Grove PD. She's a marine and now a cop following in her dads, brothers and cousins footsteps. An asshole, cop-hating, felon, biker should not be someone she is interested in. But she can't deny the pull she has to him.

When their paths cross while Rook and Easy are working on the clan plan her curiosity has peeked and she wants to know what the clan are doing. She knows it's bad and she can't stand the fact the MGPD are turning a blind eye. She hopes Rook will tell her what she can't find out for herself since she's been ordered to stay off the mountain.

Rook won't work with a cop no matter the pretty package it comes wrapped in, but he will take out his built-up frustration and hunger on her. He'll get her out of his system if it kills him, Jet can't understand how she lets Rook get away with the way he manhandles her. Any other man would find themselves in cuffs and not for fun. But her attraction to Rook overrules her good judgement. It's a mistake but she's going to make it again and again.

They are bound to not work, it can only end in pain and suffering. His brotherhood will never accept a cop in their club and her badge means her job will never accept a felon. When it all comes to a head they'll both be asked whether it's worth it, is what they have more important than the lives they have built for themselves?

Happy Reading
Enjoy your next escape :)

Great story!!

This is the 7th book in this phenomenal series and is Rook and Jet's story. This is a well written flawless story which had me totally enthralled throughout. This story is filled with emotions, twists, intrigue, suspense, drama, danger, and love which all had me totally enthralled throughout this riveting and addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented whose work I highly recommend.

Another great addition to this series. It took me a bit to connect with the characters in this book, which is unusual for me with this author, but once I did I was hooked. I liked how the author tied two distinct families, on opposing sides, together. Very much looking forward to the next book.

ENEMIES to lovers

While I have enjoyed this whole series and some even 5 star, this enemies to lovers tale swung too far and long on the enemies side. Over 60% of the book was read and Rook still thinks and calls her a b!tch is too much hate for me in a love/hate relationship.

I liked this book overall. Both Hs were strong and and matched well sexually and in banter. But it looks like I’d have to skip Ozzy and Rev’s books - as it seems like there would be just too much OW drama, which I wouldn’t enjoy.

Rev and Jet were ok as a couple but I have to admit, I didn’t really see much love between the two.

And for the safety gang, it’s not SAFE per se as, SPOILERS,
*
*
he knows her, but sleeps with others until they get together. More below on why this hero didn’t knock Trip or Judge off the top spot and is one of my least favorite heroes in the Jeanne St James pantheon (together with Slade, that arsehole).

And there were a couple of things Rev did that pissed me off:

SPOILERS:
*
*
*

He imagines Shade’s daughter (21 year old Maddie) as part of a threesome he witnesses at the clubhouse. This is AFTER he’s with the heroine and it just came off as an ‘ewwww’ moment for me.

He flirts with other women openly in front of Jet, after they have been together, and at one point, pretends that he’s going to have a threesome with Dodge and another woman when Jet is at the pub. He doesn’t go through with it but instead settles on ‘watching’ the other couple.

While each of these men come searching for a place to fit in with the MC, they also come with secrets.

Problem is they always have a way of being revealed and it is not always a good thing when they do come out in the open.

Rook hates cops due to the fact he's been in and out of jail since he was younger. Of course in comes Jet, a cop all wrapped up in the package he wants.

Such a Romeo and Juliette story who isn't meant to work but sprinkle in some emotions, twists, intrigue, suspense, drama, danger, and love which leaves the reader enthralled from start to finish!

Blood & Bones: Rook
Blood Fury MC, Book 7
By: Jeanne St. James
Narrated by: J.F. Harding, Ava Lucas

Jeanne St James, you are winning my heart again, and making me question who my favorite Blood Fury member is my favorite! Rook has weaseled his way into my heart and and have made room for another amazing story. Rook and Jet are from opposite sides but this does not stop the attraction. The push pull and forbidden feel is so strong, it just keeps them falling harder for each other. But how can this cop and this biker find a happy medium? And while this is budding and growing full of the hate/love they feel, the suspenseful story of the danger lurking on the mountain is building. I love this continued storyline, each book bringing it a little further. The twists and turns this one takes are unexpected and exciting. Rook got under my skin with his gruffness as we saw it fade with his Cujo. He stole my heart! Jet is fantastic. Finding her way, she stays true to her heart, and I love her for that. Her strength and love shows true character. St James has an amazing writing style, and I find myself anxiously awaiting the next book to come to my ears!

Who better to portray Rook but JF Harding? This choice of voice could not be better. He has a sound that keeps the gruffness in Rook, and he adds a slight softness that makes you want to be hugged by his perception of the character. Jet Bryson is a tough cookie. A woman who thinks she knows where she belongs, she quickly finds her heart changing. Ava Lucas brings this all out in her narration. Her confidence is evident, and Lucas uses slight nuances as she changes, letting us make the journey right along with her. Again, St James chooses her team perfectly to fit her story and I loved it!

Cracking!!!

You just can't go wrong with a Jeanne St James book. Whenever you pick her books up you can always be assured that the plot will be engaging, the characters will be well developed, the writing will be on point with the characters and you will laugh and cry yourself through it.
Rook is no different.

We haven't really got to know Rook until now.... Recently released from prison he has kept his head down working at his dads garage and adjusting to life within the new MC.

Jet and Rook have noticed each other and quite frankly clash, they butt heads and have verbal sparring matches that make you laugh out loud! This all adds up to a sexual tension that leaps off the page, however, their lives are at opposite sides of the spectrum and mix as well as oil and water.

Rook is a typical alphahole... (Jeanne writes them so well) I didn't like him until I was 75% in, but that's the beauty of Jeanne, her characters are fleshed out to the point that you have a visceral reaction to them which for me makes the book great.
Rook's dickish behaviour had me rooting for Jet who for me was exactly the right kind of h, she was physically and mentally strong, took no crap and won the battle of the minds which sent Rook into little meltdowns, hehehehehe.

The story thread which runs through the series is developing really well... It's slow burn but with a long series that's ok, especially when you have excellent character stories that support it and let it weave nicely through the series.

I'm really loving the Blood Fury series.... Rev is next.... Bring it!

At a young age, Rook was sent to Juvie. As he grew into adulthood, he became a criminal sent to prison. Jet has always wanted to follow in her family’s footsteps and join the police department.
When Rook and Jet clash, the tension and heat can be felt for miles. But how can Jet allow a man like Rook, a criminal with a shady background, into her bed when she believes in justice and the law?
As Rook and Jet step over the line from enemies to lovers, they will have to decide if they can continue as they are. Because they both know that their time is limited before both of their families find out what is going on behind closed doors. Will Rook be able to hold onto Jet, even if it means letting go of the family he has? Will Jet leave her dream job for a man she is only now getting to know?
As usual Jeanne St. James has a way of writing that plays havoc with your heart and your mind. The panty-melting passion and sizzling sex scenes will leave you panting like you are Pavlov’s dog hearing the bell ringing. Rook is a man who feels deeply and controls himself in such a way that his alpha mentality spills off the pages and into your dreams. Jet’s domineering way outside of the bedroom has you understanding just how strong of a woman she really is, especially in a work world teeming with men. Succulent sex scenes, troublesome adventures, hilarious moments, and sensational outcomes will have you begging for a Rook of your own.

A Cop sees a Felon and the chemistry is off the charts. No good can come of a relationship between them. While Rook is the atypical MC repeat felon, you see a bit of his and Cage's background in Cage's book, and with Rook being the oldest and seemingly to coldest, you see in his book, that what happened with his mother affected him greatly. From the minute he gets pulled over after his last visit to her to ask her why she left, you see how he lashes out against the Cop who pulls him over due to the pain he feels. How that turns his fifteen year old life in a direction he has a hard time of turning around. All that anger. All that pain. But you also get to see that while he is cursing up a storm and threatening violence against a cantankerous, stray, ankle biter, he feels enough compassion to feed it and take him in.
Jet, on the other hand is new to Manning Grove but not to the Bryson's. She seems on a path that all the Bryson's have traveled before her. Not because she feels pressured to do so, but I think for a lack of knowledge of what else she could possibly do.
Oil and water, gas and a lit match. How can they possibly make a relationship work.
To find out, you need to read this book. While I read this book via Kindle Unlimited, i still think it worth your time and $$ to do so. I look forward to reading Rev's story next.

This is Rook's story and boy is he up against his equal. They both have strong and impressive personalities and neither one of them will say uncle. These two intensive wills clashing against each other and you just know it will never last. Some of the situations that Rook got himself into had me laughing out loud and the more you read about him the more he will grow on you. It was great reading Rook's POV in this story; he had a way with words. What can you say about the Shirley's other then they sure add great action, suspense and anxiety to a story.

'Rook' is a page-turner that you will not be able to put down. It has several surprises that I just loved. That pet of his had his own impressive personality and was hilarious. Rook's story has a fabulous ending and one I did not see coming. I look forward to see what happens in the future. The new prospects sound interesting and hope they get their own book. Jeanne has a way that she describes things that you can just picture in your mind. What an amazing read that I thoroughly enjoyed. This has been a fantastic series and can't wait for the next one.

I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.

❤🔥Rook & Jet...my new favorite BBMC couple

Jet Bryson has got to be my favorite BBMC leading lady so far. She is a total badass. She is fierce, doesn't back down, and witty as hell. I think I especially loved her because she reminded me of myself. Rook being the stubborn biker that he is a puts up his asshole persona when it comes to officer Jet Bryson. Although he can't stop thinking about the raven haired beauty he can't get passed that she is not only a cop but part of the Bryson clan. He's always acting like a dick to her, his way of pushing her away because he is scared of what he feels for her...but dangggg can she hold her own. This woman can take it and dish it right back 10 fold. The banter between the two had me laughing so hard I almost peed in my pants. As these two memorable characters aren't enough, we're introduced to Cujo, Rooks new killer chihuahua who thinks he can take both Jury & Justice at once 😂😂😂. Even though the odds are against them, Jet & Rook fight for thier love. Oh and those love scenes 🔥🔥🔥. I have LOVED every book that Jeanne has written. Cannot wait for Revs story, and then Crash.( scream) BBMC/ DAMC/ Shadows crossover is gonna be off the charts.

The thin line between love and hate

I absolutely loved this book by Jeanne St. James. Rook has a very rocky history with law enforcement. He is brash, rash and very vocal of his dislike. Jet is a Bryson and the newest hire for the Manning Grove PD.

Oil and water don't mix but these 2 are thrown together and cannot keep their distance. Heading for certain heartache, the reader is kept on tender hooks for the final horror crash of their "relationship". Jeanne did an absolute wonder with unwinding this tangle, giving a HEA even if it is not quite how you would expect it to work out. Both Jet and Rook find their way to be both happier individuals but also as a couple.

I love how the books in this series gives us alpha men, rough around the edges but tempered with a soft caring side for their one and only. The female MC are feisty, strong and no pushovers. Jeanne gives us an HEA but does not always finalise all story lines in view of the reader. Some may find this frustrating but I find it makes me think about the book long after I finish it. And isn't that the hallmark of a really good book?

A cop/bad boy story I actually loved!

I try to avoid books where bad boys/outlaws fall for cops because they’re generally full of moralizing, judging and sacrifices no one really wants to make. I trusted this author enough to dive into this book with an open mind and was thrilled that my faith in her writing bore out.

Rook’s story was as hilarious as it was full of tension. Man could that boy ever run his mouth and he certainly met his match in every way with Jet. They fought their attraction hard but love won out and they both ended up in a better place for it.

Jet was such a refreshing character - sharp, brave and honest and finally ready to chase after her own dreams not the ones she thought she should have. This story was as much about Jet discovering who she was and what she wanted as it was about Rook accepting who he wanted and learning to control his worst impulses. Love how they both grew individually and together by the end of the book. The bonus for me was where Jet ended up in her career. It was so perfect for her and left me with a huge smile on my face!!

You never know what to expect when Jeanne St. James releases the next book in the Blood Fury series, and I was totally shocked and surprised as to the events that take place in Rook’s book. Rook, a convicted felon, along with his brothers, is on a mission to take down the Shirley clan. He and his brothers will do what it takes to protect their families from this group of hillbillies. The Blood Fury is straddling the line of right versus wrong. Rook never intended on falling for the straight-laced law-abiding woman that haunts his waking hours. These two are totally opposite yet they work so well together. Rook is often misunderstood, but Jet is able to see through that façade and see him for the man that he really is. The way he comes to Teddy’s rescue is just an example of what lengths Rook will follow in order to protect those he cares about or those that are wronged. I loved the twists and turns in this book!! I can’t wait to see what happens next with the Shirley clan and how the brotherhood will respond. This is definitely a must read!!

With each installment of this amazing series I find a new place in my heart for these men. Rook was no exception!
I laughed so hard in parts of this book! So easy to picture some of these moments and you can’t help but lose it with laughter.
There were parts where I just wanted to reach in and grab him and hug him. With all of these characters there are hidden pasts. Deep rooted pain and turmoil. This amazing author has a way of telling their story that will rip your heart out, shatter it and then put it back together again.
Not gonna lie, there were a few parts that I wanted to throttle one of my favorite characters, but that just further gives proof to how absolutely amazing this author is.
This one was full of heat, I mean scorching heat, and every other emotion.
If you’ve not read this series you must start from the beginning. You need to know all of Manning Grove so that you can fully appreciate the greatness of this series.
You’re going to laugh until you cry and then you’re going to burn until you ache!
Absolutely fantastic!

This is the seventh book in the Blood Fury MC series and this author once again astounds readers with her flawless writing style that just pulls readers in from the get go and does not let up until the last word. Ms. St. James has a way of crafting her storylines that just leaves readers in a state of awe. Rook and Jet are just perfection and the way they turn a phrase will have anyone laughing out loud. The attraction between them is on another level and when they get going, look out because it is a thin line between love and hate. Expect the unexpected with this one as a fan favorite makes a few appearances that make this book even more memorable. Strength meets strength with this one and it will put you through a myriad of emotions from laughter to just wanting to give hugs as the pages turn. Overall, this is one book that will surprise with its twists and turns while leaving you with the feeling of wanting more. Like its predecessors in the series, this book is FANTASTIC and I cannot wait for more! I highly recommend this book and the rest of the series.

I just have to start off by saying that Ms. St. James is killing me with her prologues! The last few books have just emotionally shredded me and this one was no different. That being said, I loved this freaking book! Honestly once I got past the potential sob fest of a prologue...some of these guys had really messed up childhoods...the book was hilarious! Rook is a little bit of a screwup and not big on rules or being told what to do or sticking with anything, but he’s honestly trying. Jet was a surprise...for Rook obviously...and for me. She’s a rule follower and a straight arrow but she’s also extremely curious. These two don’t like each other but fall for each other anyway. Their attraction is fabulous...so sexy...and they’re totally goofy too. And oh my gosh, Rook’s little monster, I laughed my head off...I have one just like him! This series is different with each couple and I’m loving it. Terrific addition to an already amazing series, thanks Ms. St. James.

I have to admit that at one point, I was almost hyperventilating while reading Rook, I am so invested in the Blood Fury MC! Jeanne St James is a genius, a master of the written word and brilliant at crafting characters that you absolutely adore. Rook is a bit hard to like at first. He is a jerk and makes no bones about it. And yet, he doesn't hesitate to adopt an ankle biter of a dog nor think twice about throwing down with a bunch of homophobes. He falls into a relationship with the last person you would expect him to and they both catch feelings. He continued to surprise me at every turn until I found myself loving him, rooting for him and his woman. They are a perfect match even when it seemed liked they weren't and it was the best! The Blood Fury MC is a phenomenal series and Rook joined his MC brothers on the list of my favorite heroes. There are not enough stars anywhere to measure this book or this series, they are simply beyond compare.

I have been intrigued by Rook for some time now. He is a contradiction. He can be a jerk(to put it nicely) but he has a soft side for his niece and a few other important people in his life. Being a member of the MC, he has no love for the police in his town but can’t seem to get around conflicting feelings for one in particular. Jet Bryson is finding her way in a town filled with her family and expectations that go along with it. Her run ins with Rook are filled with animosity to say the least. These two are certainly the most unlikely pair that Ms St James has written so far. I loved it!! Rook has his mind set in so many ways about so many things and Jet turns all of those things on it ear. Jet is spunky and awesome. Rook is grumpy and can be not-so-awesome. When the two of them collide in the most basics of ways, I thought my e-reader was going to combust. Rook is demanding and Jet lets him lead( to a point). I’m hoping for more from this couple and how they navigate the lives they have committed themselves to.

The time has come for Rook's story! I was wondering what exactly Ms. St. James is going to put our characters thru, non of her characters could have an easy journey - this is what I can promise! Who is the girl that can stand up to him? No one that you can expect! I had my jaw down for quite a minute when I realized that! That gave the story another nice turn and made it even deeper on the emotional side! This story also gave us some insight into the general plot, as some things will be going on here, I so can't wait for what will come out of it in the end!
I can say for sure that this story is once again a page-turner, with amazing characters that will be so real I wanted to munch or hug them, like ALL the time! Most of those will come to say the least unexpected and no one can say that this author does don't know how to do her own job in writing! Can't wait for more! I hope the next stories will be even better!

This was an excellent enemy to lovers story. Rook has now become one of my favorite characters in this series. Jet was a good addition to the series and definitely the type of woman Rook needed. The banter between these two was hilarious! Jeanne St. James rarely gives us characters I dislike so I knew going into this book it would be another great experience! Rook was so misunderstood in my eyes yes; he made some bad decisions in the past, but some people take longer to wise up. Although I liked Jet some of her remarks rubbed me the wrong way a few times in this book. She seemed to be understanding to a certain extent so that gave her a leg up with Rook.

This series seems to get better with every book. The next book is Rev and I CAN NOT wait for that one! Jeanne St. James has a way of creating complex but relatable characters, so I look forward to the next stop on this journey with the Blood Fury MC!

Love this series Jeanne St James has once again wrote an epic story. As always its full of Alpha Arseholes and stubborn arse women.

Rook and Jett's story is definitely jam packed with action, and Holy shit moments.

Rook is a cocky, cop hating don't take no crap biker that loves his brotherhood, and when the Shirley's on hillbilly mountain start to grow in numbers; Rook knows that the war is about to begin, only Shirley's are not his only problem.

Jett Bryson is a cop, she loves her job and she is good it. But she can't help but think something is brewing up on the mountain. But she has been forbidden by her chief and her family from interfering. But she can't help her self, her spidey senses has her snooping but she was not expecting to find a Fury member by the name of Rook coming out of the trees.

Rook and Jett have a mutual hate for eachither and need to get it out their system... but cupid has other ideas.

I loved seeing Rook brought to his knees by a strong independent woman. Jett Doesn't take any crap from him at any point. When these two keep getting in each others business things change from hate to love and then these two people who are forbidden to be together find themselves in a situation that they don't know what to do about. Rook who is an ex con and a biker is not who Jett and an upstanding ex marine and cop thought she would find waning to have a life with. She is pushing and determined to find out what is going on up the mountain with the Shirley's and Rook is determined to get her out of his head. We see these two struggle with their feelings and try to stay away from each other but the pull is too strong. This was a fun read watching that Alpha biker falling for a head strong determined Cop. Another great MC book from Jeanne St. James knows how to give us the ultimate MC stories with incredible story lines and characters with depth and intrigue.
