Survive. Evade. Resist. Escape. Nolan’s situation is he’s locked in the deepest, darkest black site, cut off from Taia, separated from the cutting-edge armor that enables him to walk, and subjected to the torturous whims of a sadistic warden and her pet scientist. Armed with only his cunning, ruthlessness, and raw willpower, Nolan must find a way to break himself and his brother out of the Nyzarian Empire’s most secure detention facility. Can the Vault’s impossibly intricate defenses and relentless army of inhuman guards stand in Nolan’s way, or will he rise to the challenge and do what no one has ever done escape the inescapable lunar prison? Don't miss Book 9 in the explosive Cerberus Series!
I am, first and foremost, a storyteller and an artist--words are my palette. Fantasy is my genre of choice, and I love to explore the darker side of human nature through the filter of fantasy heroes, villains, and everything in between. I'm also a freelance writer, a book lover, and a guy who just loves to meet new people and spend hours talking about my fascination for the worlds I encounter in the pages of fantasy novels.
Fantasy provides us with an escape, a way to forget about our mundane problems and step into worlds where anything is possible. It transcends age, gender, religion, race, or lifestyle--it is our way of believing what cannot be, delving into the unknowable, and discovering hidden truths about ourselves and our world in a brand new way. Fiction at its very best!
Yet another excellent installment of the Cerberus series. If you're reading the 9th book, you already know what you're going to get. Nolan Garrett does amazing deeds, has sexual tension with his all-female team of allies as well as AI, and escapes from a hopeless situation despite being crippled most of the time when he's not using his cybernetic superpowers. In this case, he's dumped into a Super-Max black site for political prisoners by his ostensible allies and must deal with seeming betrayal by one of is closest companions. I really liked the crazy female warden/villain in this one and also Nolan's reaction to the fact he can't always trust the people around him. We're settling down for the grand finale of the series and it's been a wild ride. I'm going to miss this series when it's over.
I know I am repeating myself here but once again I feel that this is the best book in this really exciting series. This time around Nolan Garrett is imprisoned in the vault, the most secure prison in the galaxy where his brother Jared has been imprisoned for a long time. It was always Nolan's intention to visit and try to break out his brother from the reformation tank in which he was being kept, but instead he was played, and now was locked in a black site without his armour, his allies and Taia. He was being tortured and broken by a mad scientist known as the Warden, and her staff in order to be studied like a lab rat. Who had betrayed him? was it Agent Styver and the Protection Bureau he had served for so many years? Nolan is fighting his biggest challenge yet all alone, can he survive, escape and take his brother with him all on his own? The vault is designed as a Panopticon and is a crazy maze of corridors and multi storeys with guards and crazy inmates on each floor but Nolan finds help where least expected. As the trained Silverguard that he is he must endure till the right time arrives and he attempts the impossible but he only had thirty six hours in which to do so. The tension in this book is explosive and I was riveted and could not put the book down till the last line was read. I cannot believe that the next book will be book 10, and that Andy Peloquin has managed to keep us, the readers, so thoroughly involved in this amazing series, following the exploits of our staunch hero Nolan Garrett, who is admirable because of his many vulnerabilities and strengths. I am so looking forward to book 10.
Damn, this is a good series. Nolan is captured and imprisoned in an inescapable prison facing what seem to be impossible odds. Action, surprises, excitement - another great book
Is it treason when the one who betrays does it against his will? Or if knowing what he does have no way to avoid it? Nolan Garrett will be betrayed by whoever is least expected to do it. And this after being turned over by Agent Styver and the Protection Bureau to turn him into another guinea pig for Project Icarus within The Vault, the safest and most inviolable prison in the Galaxy. In Lethal Extraction the action does not stop, and it will be almost impossible to stop reading the book before reaching the end.
Despite the number of times Nolan has been under pressure, it has never been as bleak as this has been and without his normal abilities this made it even harder. A really well thought out story and solutions making this even more impressive each book further into the series.
What a fantastic continuation of Nolan and his Journey. Nolan is off to see Jared finally, but it's not going like he thought it would. In this continuation Nolan has to use every available assets he can find which is not easy. He'll go through events that will make or break a person. An edge of the seat, heart pounding read.
The most intense prison break tale I’ve ever read. The details and the sheer suspense had me glued to the pages. The circumstances between Nolan and Taia rocked me to the core! A brilliant read that had me on the edge! This series is a definite must read! All my reviews are always voluntarily written.
What can I say the plot twist that turns the story and kick ass battle that was a lot to take in on this book the previous book delved into some areas I was really hoping it would and this one had so many twists it was so much fun to read can't wait to start the next one
Escape from prison books are in my opinion Soso. This book had too much torture and too much abuse. In the last book Nolan was a horn dog, and this book he is a prisoner subjected to psychological and physical abuse, I think it could’ve been tone down a bit. The story was OK not the best in the bunch but OK. Going on to read the next book
Another great instalment finished on Christmas Morning. I’m happy to say it’s NOT the last in the Cerberus story. I’m very much looking forward to the next one.
Lots of action and lots of creative theories on brainwashing. The story is nearly all Nolan's escape from the rock. Losing Taia was sad, but gaining a new Taia more on Nolan's side made it much more palatable. The next book begins an entire new chapter for Cerberus.
Liked this book just as much as earlier books. This is a must for anyone who enjoys exciting and gritty tales. I could not rate it any lower and want to rate it higher but can not.
Nolan Garrett is in it up to his butt crack today; and he has not one idea about how he's gonna get out of it. At all.
All Nolan needs is a paddle and perhaps a rowboat and he can make his way down s**t creak, away from the mountain of crap he's floating in. Whoever is at the wheel of his ship, has gone to sleep hunny coz they have grounded the ship a number of times already.
Nolan regains consciousness after what can only have been an epic mistake somewhere because he is locked in a perspect box, naked, and alone, and defenceless in every possible way. He has no recollection of how he got there or even who put him in the box or what they want from him? He is surrounded by darkness and yet there are strobing painfully bright lights flashing so fast and so brightly that it makes him want to vomit, and thats not all, he can hear terrible heart rending screams of terror and pain and it wont stop. He's in a really bad situation and to top it all off, he can't hear Taia, his Artificial Intelligence that is implanted in his brain. Usually he can speak to her verbally or mentally and she responds but now, nothing! There is a lot that happens in this book, a lot! But it is so satisfying at certain points, at those points I just wanted to cheer and jump up and down.
This story is EPIC! The details of Nolan's ordeal are horrific and incredible, and so realistic that at times I felt I could see Nolan in the box. What a thrilling book! This story is off the charts I LOVED IT! It showed a side of Nolan I had not seen before. A truly scared man who suddenly loses his closest companion. One he has come to rely on completely. To be in such circumstances and suddenly be utterly alone, it's incredible stuff to read, it gave me literal goosebumps on my arms and back, in a cool, really intense experiential way, like I was going through what Nolan was and that was super intense. I have never felt such a viseral feeling when reading a book before. Wow! The author, Andy Peloquin, is a Jedi Master of his trade. A true black belt writer, and I mean that sincerely. Well done Mr. Peloquin. This book is a serious blast! Thank you.
Wow! Non-stop action on steroids! Cerberus has never found himself in this bad of a situation with assets this limited. But it is not in his nature to give up no matter what is thrown his way or how many earthshaking revelations are discovered. The best Cerberus story so far! I can’t wait to see where things go from here.
Andy Peloquin's imagination is working overtime in this book with his creation of the Vault. Nolan went to visit his brother in the Vault but gets himself thrown in and we don't know why. The depiction of the Vault was literally out of this world. I got nauseated by reading about what Nolan went through while in the Vault, and how was he ever going to escape the contraption he was in. I was also surprised by a very personal betrayal. This was a great read, masterfully plotted with darkness, rawness and very clever.
I think this latest episode in the troubled life of Nolan Garrett is the most exciting yet, and that's saying a great deal. From the ultra-dramatic opening in the first paragraph to the heroic statement of the last, there is not a dull line in it. I've never been a fan of action books before, but it was no time at all before this series had me hooked, and the only comfort to finishing this wonderful read is the happy knowledge that Peloquin is as prolific as he is competent, and that it no doubt won't be long before we have another of these wonderful books.
Omg, here we go again. I didn’t think that this series could get any better but wonders upon wonder it went and did. This is one hell of a book with something happening all the way through. I just can’t praise this author enough for this series and for where on earth the storylines come from. How far is it going to go I wonder. Highly recommended.
