Daddy's Boy #4

Bossy Baby

Rate this book
The Boy

Hayley has been looking for a Daddy, but there’s only one man he’s truly interested in—the big, bald, quiet man who visits his store every week. Hayley is trying to be patient, but if Mac doesn’t make a move soon, Hayley might have to take matters into his own hands.

The Daddy

Mac’s soul is black, and he knows that when he dies, he’ll be heading straight to Hell. There’s only one bright light in his life—his weekly visits to Hayley’s store. Watching the other couples around them find love and fit together perfectly, Mac has hope for the first time in his life…even if he has no clue what he’s doing.

Bossy Baby is the fourth book in the Daddy’s Boy series by Athena Steller.

This book contains m/m sexual content (men having sex with each other), Age Play, ABDL, Daddy/ boy relationship, age-gap relationship. This book is an exploration of a relationship between two (male) consensual adults who are looking for love and acceptance. All characters are over the age of consent. No cheating or cliff hangers and always an HEA.

Each book in the Daddy’s Boy series will focus on a new couple, although the characters from other books will visit often.
The books can be read as standalone novels but, for better enjoyment, watching how the characters grow from book to book adds to the enjoyment of the series.

Well, that was rather strange. I kind of liked it. Mac and Hayley are interesting characters and go well together. It was also amusing to watch Mac grow into the Daddy role. And a nice new element of Hayley bossing him around.

“Pick me up and carry me to bed.”
“Okay, my bossy baby.”

But in terms of age-play, it was disappointing. It only scratches the surface. And then a good portion of the book is wasted on setting up the next installment and bringing in the new characters. It's nice to meet the characters from the previous books again, but the bigger the pool of boys and Daddies gets, the more annoying it feels to me.
I simply miss the focus on the development of the actual relationship.
Well, at least it's a short, quick read, but it's a shame that it remains so superficial.

Nice read, but the fact that the word little was in cursive all the time was still very weird. The other books in the series didn't have that, so why the author suddenly decided that was a good idea... who knows... 🤷🏻‍♀️

3.5 stars

Mac is supposed to be a ruthless killer, but he's really a big softie inside.

When he is trying to keep an eye out for Mitch and the rest of the gang, he decides to move to the little town, since he needs to start over anyway. At least no one will be able to find him there.

Mac spots the sweet boy who owns the organic store almost immediately. He knows he can't just throw him over his shoulder and tell the boy he has claimed him, but Mac really wants to. Instead he decides to get to know the boy better so that he might want to go out on a date with Mac.

Hayley doesn't know what to make of Mac. He thinks he might like Hayley, since he comes into the store every day to chat. But he hasn't ever made a move, or asked Hayley out.

And Hayley isn't even sure if Mac is a daddy. And since Hayleys really wants a daddy, he knows he cannot date someone who isn't willing to take care of Hayley and his little side.

So when Mac still hasn't asked Hayley out, Hayley knows he has to make the first move...

These guys were quite cute together. I loved sweet Hayley, and awkward Mac was hilarious at times.

I also really loved that Mac had to take care of Hayley when he broke his arm.

I did want just a bit more age play, since we didn't get quite that much in this. But that was also because Hayley wasn't a fulltime little.

As usual the editing was pretty bad. And it really annoyed me that every time anyone talked about being a little, it was written in cursive:

Being little made Hayley happy.

He had both his little and big clothes hanging in the spare bedroom, and more coloring books than any boy would ever need.

When Hayley spotted something that spoke to his little side, he had to have it.

Very annoying and completely unnecessary.

First review for 2021!! Hay but I wish the rating would have been more. I enjoyed the first three books and getting to know the guys and their Daddies but the author waited to long between books and in the beginning I was lost but not for long. I'll just put that down to 2020 😀.

Mac and Hayley are a good match. Mac being the deadly assassin and Hayley being so bossy. The story was well written but had some name switches and missing words here and their but not where you would get annoyed. Overall looking forward to Jayme and Lance's book, maybe Master Finn and Michael along with Avery's co workers and their spin off series.

Another cute book in the series. I find these books so relaxing to read. Unlike some other books in the genre I don't get bored reading them, or find them repetitive. Each book is slightly different in their characters and kinks, yet familiar enough that you know you'll get a sweet fluffy story about a Daddy and a boy.

I'll get into Jayme's story soon. Puppy's!

Skip this one if you're a fan of the series. Mac is one of the most unnecessary characters ever and the fact that he has his own book annoys me. Hayley is a cute side character who I didn't mind reading about but his relationship with Mac isn't fun to read.

It happens so quickly, even by romance standards. I am not a fan of the hitman side story and it brings down the series as a whole. The chemistry between Mac and Hayley is nonexistent. The sex scenes feel uninspired. I don't have anything good to say about this one. Such a disappointing end to the series.

Just skip this.

Mac's character has appeared in books 2 and 3 with an ongoing storyline. This book has left so many unanswered questions regarding Mac and his job and why he targeted certain people, who paid him, who is paying the man who stole his identity and so on that if the author decides to continue the series there would be difficulty piecing it together. A lot of loose ends.

I did not expect to like this book so much. It tells the story about Mac a man with blood on his hands and lots of secrets who falls in love with Hayley at first sight and directly decides that he wants him to be his boy.

I do love the series. All books have been great so far. However I wasn’t sure I would like this because we already got to meet Mac in the former books and he is kind of a creep.

As soon as I started the book however, I also started to really like Mac, he is actually such a cute person with a sad and kind of tragic past. We don’t get to know stuff in detail but the basics of what he went through. I would have liked a more in depth look into his past but I wouldn’t have suited the rather happy story.

Hayley was super cute too. I love that he has this bossy side but is also very sweet. The two together were a delight. I smiled so freakin much while reading the interactions. It’s was funny and cute.

Besides that of course I loved seeing all the other characters again and meeting new ones. I really like Jayme and I hope he will get his own book.

Actually the author wrote at the end of the book that she wants to continue the series, which makes me so happy. I am sad that there is nothing out yet, since these books are from 2020 but I am very much looking forward for a new release.

Overall this was a great Book. Awesome characters and lots of cute moments. I absolutely recommend it if you like age play books that are low angst.

Mac! omg i love mac, i love everything about him!

Hayley being bossy was so cute LOL.

They were so cute and funny together. I'm honestly glad his brother is the only family he got to meet. Considering they kinda grew up the same, they're very different people!

Avery is so cute and playful i will never get tired of his appearance in this series! He deserves all the friends in the world!

We love Mac!

Definitely bossy!

Hayley is bossy, but in a good way, and it's in the way that Mac needs. Mac is very much stalkeriffic, but he has a goid reason, at least in his head.

DNF 14% 0/5 Stars. hell, negative stars.

I never DNF... but this was painful. I tried putting it down multiple times and coming back, and who knows I might power through this one day, but I doubt I will change my rating.

This was rough, Mac is just too stupid. OBNOXIOUSLY SO. You cannot tell me that this man who has been running around in the back ground as a thief/assassin/investigator/stalker, is this fucking dumb. He may as well be an alien dropped on this planet. He doesn't act at any point like a real person with a functioning brain. I don't care if you are new to a relationship type, this was over the top. Hell i didn't even get to the relationship, I gave up at the scene in the store where he is just shopping and the supposedly submissive/little MC just steam rolls in and is like, lets go on a date.

I was looking forward to Mac's story but I am sadly disappointed. The storyline was good but the characters fell flat. Even the love scenes were just mechanical, you just don't really feel the love between these two.

Okay, former hired killer (maybe current) finally gets together with Hayley who runs the organic store, but Hayley more or less forces the issue since Mac has never been a Daddy.

If I'd been Hayley I'd have been more freaked out that the guy bought a house for me, with things he knew I would like but had never even asked me out. When Hayley breaks his arm on their first date, that's it, they move in together and off they go, although the past rears it's head and Mac has to confess what he is (although Hayley had already figured it out).

The editing in the first part of this was questionable. But after about chapter 4 it got better. One strange thing was when referring to littles, the little was always in italics, but when he referenced middles, that wasn't in italics. Only the word little, as if we would somehow confuse a little with something small. But I started to ignore that after awhile.

Something that confused me was Hayley's parents. (He has 3, his mom and 2 dads). It says they have been together 50 years. Ummmm. If they got together when his mother was 21, that means they are all now 71. I'm not sure how old Hayley is (it's never said) but I'd say mid-20's, which means his mother gave birth to him at 45 or older. Highly unlikely. He has a bunch of brothers (and his next brother is close in age so he wasn't an afterthought baby) so either they were married for a LONG time before they started having kids or 50 sounded like "oh that would be a long time to be happy together" without realizing WHAT 50 years means. Most grandparents are married 50 years. It's weird, that stuck with me and it's still annoying me.

However beyond that, I liked Hayley a lot, and he was bossy and told marshmallow Mac how it was going to be. So it was okay for me, except for that one major niggle.

I really liked this story even though I thought I might not want to read a reformed hitman romance. Mac turned out to be a very likable character, and Hayley was the perfect bossy boy.

Here's why it's not higher than 3 stars: the editing was poor, actually worse than poor because there were not only multiple spelling errors, there were two instances of character confusion, and there were actions taken by an MC with a broken arm that would be impossible, or at least highly unlikely.

Mac is portrayed as a doting daddy, always there for Hayley. He carried him in his arms after Hayley was hurt and broke his right (dominant) arm. But then a few days later, the author has Hayley jumping into Mac's arms or the one that really floored me: the author had Hayley crawling across the room. Really? Have you ever tried that with a broken (purportedly painful) arm? I don't think so. And that's just a small example. The thing that made it worse was that Mac didn't reprimand him, so it reinforces my opinion that the author didn't give the actions a second thought, i.e., they forgot their own storyline. Sigh.

But darn I do like the storytelling and the characters in this series. I'm going to try one more. Fingers crossed that some things are better plotted this time.

I love this story with the longing from them both before Hayley decided that enough was enough and he just took action. Mac definitely showed that he might have been ruthless in his working life before but he was definitely a softy when it came to Hayley and the love and care he should have for him. Hayley was full of surprises and it was great to learn far more about them both. Easy to read, feel and understand. This book contains mature MM content of a BDSM-like relationship with DDLB, diapers and stuffies. The books are better to read in order for full enjoyment although each ends with a HEA.

Mac and Hayley made me swoon!

Sigh... these two were just amazing. I’ve had a bit of a crush on Mac since we first met him (what can I say, mysterious, dark and dangerous just does it for me!) and he was so adorable and perfect and wonderful (and many more effusive adjectives). I loved that he could be confident in many aspects of his life but really struggled with his confidence in a more personal/social setting. It made him so much more human - this is a man who desperately wants to love and be loved. Hayley, what can I say... he’s such a cutie and I loved that he was able to take the lead when Mac felt a little lost. It brought home that Daddies need the love and support from their boys too.

Such a perfect book and I am SUPER excited to see where things go for Lance and Jayme (I’m already half in love with Lance!)

I was surprised when I found out that Mac was getting his own book. I couldn’t wait to see how the former assassin would soften enough to become a Daddy to such a sweet ‘little boy’.

I loved Mac becoming friends with all the other Daddies, I was pleasantly surprised that they were OK knowing what Mac used to do and that they allowed their boys to be around him.

Like the other books in the series, it needs a/another editor. There were too many grammatical mistakes/missing words but, he story was compelling enough that I pushed through them.

The hired killer and the Little

I honestly didn't think that anything could top the previous books in this series, but this might be my favorite one yet! Hayley and Mac are so incredibly perfect for each other. I love how Mac stumbles around trying to appear "normal" when all it really does is show how clueless he really is! Hayley is a little spitball of bossy sass and exactly what Mac needs! This series is one of my favorite Daddy/little ones and I'm eagerly looking forward to the next book about Jaimie and Lance.

*I will mention that there were several editing errors, particularly in mixing up the MC's names and some grammatical problems. Normally I'd have dropped a star for this, because this type of thing really annoys me, but I loved the story so much I decided to cut it some slack.

Taking Care Of. Protecting. Caring For.

Since he’d first learned about Daddy/boy relationships, Mac had been trying to figure out what drew him to that particular kink. Did Hayley bring it out in him or was he attracted to Hayley because he wanted to be Hayley’s Daddy?

There were so many questions.

Mac liked learning and figuring things out. He just wasn’t sure if he would be able to this time. He also wasn’t certain that it mattered.

They weren’t hurting anyone. Hayley was over twenty years of age. Hayley consented and Mac would never take Hayley’s choices away from him.

Reading books and articles online had helped Mac accept that this need inside him, to take care, to protect, and care for Hayley, didn’t make him sick in the head. This wasn’t something Mac needed to worry about.

Funny, Sweet and Steamy

I love this series. Hayley and Mac were perfect for each other. Mac was hilarious. He maybe a deadly hitman but Hayley had him wrapped around his little finger. And Mac learning how to date and be a good Daddy had me cracking up.... "No Mac, you can't kidnap him". And of course Hayley was just the cutest and sweetest Little. He brought the sunshine Mac needed. Their chemistry was definitely sizzling.
This book can be read as a stand alone but since characters from previous book are very involved, highly recommend reading the other books prior. You won't regret it. That are all very good. Now I'm anxiously awaiting for Lance and Jayme....very intriguing

Absolutely adorable!

This book was everything I hoped for Max and Hayley's story! Hayley truly is a bossy baby and it is exactly what sweet, first time Daddy, Mac needs. I am looking forward to Lance and Jayme's book, especially if he goes pup route! As has been consistent with some of her past work there are some basic editing issues that I am surprised to find in a finished and published book. With that being said the mistakes are so simple (which baffles me that the mistakes are there even more!) that the brain easily corrects them or it doesn't take much to figure out what it should be. I should knock it down to 4 stars for the editing issues but Mac and Hayley were SO worth it and SO freaking adorable that they deserve the 5 stars!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Bossy Baby is a sweet, patient love story full of longing and quiet hope. Hayley’s persistence and optimism are heart-melting, especially in contrast to Mac’s rough edges and haunted past. Their relationship grows gently, full of soft moments that make the story feel like a comforting embrace. Beneath the Daddy/boy dynamic lies a story about redemption, second chances, and the power of being truly seen.

Steller’s storytelling shines here. Mac’s journey from darkness to light is written with care, and Hayley’s warmth brings color back into his world. The balance of tenderness and tension is beautifully done, and by the end, their connection feels like both salvation and home. Bossy Baby is heartfelt and deeply satisfying.

Could have been better

While I enjoyed the overall storyline and always do with this author there are a few things that make it go from 5 star to 3 star. Editing errors are the worst! Qhen you mean to write Hayley and you write Mac it pulls me out of the story so fast, same when a simple word like the or be is missing.
Also if you are going to make a big deal out of Hayley being a clean freak then play it up a little more, 2 scenes with hand washing and picking up some dirty clothes off the floor isn't enough.

What I did enjoy about this book was Hayley's personality and Mac's ignorance on having a boy is a great combo and super cute.

Not as good as the previous books

This book wasn’t as good as the previous books. Unfortunately the daddy seemed to be a little mentally slow, and the boy was definitely bossy and directed most of the action in the bedroom. Speaking of action in the bedroom it was really unsatisfied with most of the scenes being only a few paragraphs and the rest starting in the middle of the scene so you just got to see how they finished.

This story tries to introduce one new boy and two new daddies, however none of them seem overly interesting. I’m not sure I’ll continue reading the series since it seems to be sliding downhill after each book.

Soft Mac is the MVP

What do we love more than a lone wolf cold blooded literal killer turning into a soft puddle of mush for his kittens and significant other?
NOTHING. We love absolutely nothing more than that.

In fact, I enjoyed Mac enough that even the repetitive typos, conflicting info and potholes didn't bother me ... (as much as they did in Lance or Creed books). Mac is so genuine in his feelings for Hayley that nothing outside of a direct threat to his well-being is enough to dampen his happy mood. Tantrums are indulged never argued over even - we all deserve an SO that can find an endearing kind of amusement in the face of our mood swings 😭

Subtitle should be "How to Tame a Homicidal Vigilante with Handjobs and Kittens." The tonal whiplash here was just wild, the current romance (both M/M and M/F) obsession with "bad boys who are really softies and just misunderstood" in full force, and someone needs to break it to Mac that he may be a Daddy but he's a service Top in this relationship if he's a Top at all.

Also, hey romance writers, especially female-presenting ones: stop using "pussy" as an insult. Just stop. I don't care if it makes your characters seem tough, there are a thousand better ways to do that that don't perpetuate that kind of casual misogyny. Do better.

Fabulous series!!

I can't get enough of this series. Every character is unique and wonderful. It's great seeing so many different levels of littles. Mac is a former hit man and is very protective of his newfound friends, especially the boys. His love for Hayley is border line obsessive, but also so sweet. And Hayley's love for Mac has been brewing for awhile and he is pretty obsessive over Mac also. I hope Jayme finds his HEA in the Christmas short story or a story of his own.

What can I say? I like this series. Might read more by this author when I’m done with the series. Another daddy/boy book and looking forward to the possible pup book next.

Mac was scary but actually a big softy which I loved and Hayley was so cute. I wish the back and forth at his shop would have went longer and I didn’t love the whole he hurt himself and needs help thing because I think we could’ve gotten to them being happy without it but it’s all good.

2/5 on spice. 3/5 on kink. 1/5 on tears. Diapers are used once but really barely mentioned tbh.
