Open up the covers, and settle down with this stunning collection of eclectic stories from twenty established, emerging, and new authors including Emma Nichols, Margaux Fox, and Lily Morris. Let these talented wordsmiths take you on a journey of discovery from mature love to domesticated werewolves, new love to avenging goddesses, and second chance love to an apocalyptic world.
Open your hearts and minds to new experiences and new writers, and you might well find your next new favourite author. This anthology unabashedly genre hops from romance to fantasy, and erotica to romantic comedy, so that there really is a little something for everyone.
Robyn Nyx is an avid shutterbug and lover of all things fast and physical. Her writing often reflects both of those passions. She lives with her soul mate and fellow scribe. They have no kids or kittens, which allows them to travel to exotic places at the drop of a hat for “research.” She works hard to find writing time, when she’s not being distracted by blue skies and motorbike rides.
I thought I had read the previous short story anthology LesFic Eclectic Volume One - but apparently not since I haven't got it registered on GoodReads - so I'll have to go back and read that one!
I enjoy short stories, although I do prefer novels. But basically if there's a good story I am willing to give it a go. This free collection had a lot of great ones. All sorts of genres and all sorts of themes. Historic, supernatural, modern, throuple, dystopian, scifi etc. Definitely something for everyone here.
I especially appreciated the one called 'The Wedding Invitation' by Eliza Hale featuring a character with vulvodynia, which is something I've been dealing with the last few years without much help from medical professionals. The way it affects even just sitting down and other functions makes you feel so deflated, but especially when it comes to intimacy. Big kudos and bravo to the author for that.
I also really appreciated the story called 'Unconditional Friendship' by Lee Haven, about two queer ladies (and their support group) dealing with disability and trying to navigate relationships and namely the fallout of a relationship because of an amputation and the girlfriends inability to handle it. Really heart-wrenching. But also uplifting with the friendship and hope therein.
Another fantastic installment of Lesfic Eclectic compiled and edited by Robyn Nyx.
This second anthology of short stories, offers a welcome mix of work from more established authors to those who are lesser known or brand new and covers an array of different genres for your enjoyment.
What i like most about this anthology is that it truly is eclectic; there's something for everyone. It's introduced me to up and coming authors to watch out for, alongside more established names who i hadn't yet come across.
The variety of genres displayed is a positive way to combine discovering a new (to you) author with a new genre, that ordinarily you might bypass in favour of your preferred author or genre. This book is a great way to explore and have fun with that and i especially liked that the stories cover a wide array of identities and intersectionalities.
Overall, every single story between the covers of this book, deserves its place, but my personal favourities are below - they tell stories of heat, hope, the bittersweet power of love and the acceptance of those that are different.
Brilliant! A second collection of short stories covering a variety of genres from established, well-loved authors, and some up and coming new writers.
Providing a unique reading experience, Robyn Nyx has brought us another fabulous collection of stories with a variety of genres and styles.
From this second volume of the LesFic Eclectic, you can discover more amazing new talent as well as stories from already loved and established authors in the genre. As usual, with anthologies I really enjoyed discovering some new writers and am excited to read more from them in future. It was also great to read stories from authors I have already read, or that I have only read a few stories previously. It was also great to see some familiar names returning from the first volume.
I enjoyed reading the stories and experiencing the thoughts, feelings and worlds of the characters. It was a great collection that had something for everyone and was lots of fun to read.
