This was a joy to read. A real feel good book with humor and a touch of excitement. I would not call this a romance. There is some feelings that go on, but it is just at the start of it. I really hope there will be a sequel, I want more of these characters.
The story is about Amy, who works at a coffee shop. Every day she serves and flirts with her dream woman. One day the woman does not show up, nor the next or the next. Amy calls the police, but they do nothing. It is up to her to find out what happened to the woman of her dreams. But Amy has bitten off more than she can chew, and she finds herself on the run with her best friend. Can Amy clear her name or will the ex-MI5 huntress, on her tail, get to her first?
What I did not realize about this book was how funny it was going to be. Amy falling out of a car boot, and a high speed chase in boats going 5 MPH, are some of the highlights. This was just one of those warm, feel good books. The characters are great too. Amy is such a sweetheart, and everyone thinking she is a master criminal is just hilarious. Then you also have the sexy, mysterious "Huntress" Claudia.
As I said before, there is not really a romance. The start of it is there. I really hope for a book 2. Not because there is a cliffhanger (there is not), but I want to see if the romance grows, and what else Amy can get up to.
If you are looking for a feel good book, that will make you laugh out loud, and still have a little excitement... This book is for you. This would actually make for a good beach read, if you wanted something different than just romance.

You know you have read a fabulous book when you desperately hope that there will be a sequel. Not in the ending was left dangling kind of way, no more than anything you want to read these amazing characters again. This is exactly what the Huntress does, you love every second with this book and more than anything don’t want you time with it to end.
Amy Hewitt is a coffee barista at Tom’s Café. Amy loves the consistency of her job. Is it what she should be doing with her life? Everyone tells her no but Amy loves it none-the-less. Sociology with honors degree is doing Amy a lot of good at this point. One particular plus of her barista job is the chance of meeting up with Cara every day. Cara is a beautiful, professional woman who is drop dead gorgeous. Cara stops in Amy’s shop every morning, orders the same thing and spends a little bit of her time flirting with Amy. Amy lives for this moment of her day, seeing as Cara is completely out of her league in looks and station in life. All of this spins completely out of control when Cara stops showing up for her morning coffee and Amy’s quest to find her lands her in the sights of MI-5’s terrorism unit.
What I can tell you about Amy, an amazing character who is unbelievably endearing. She’s brilliant and empathetic. Her kindness radiates off of her in such an extreme that she can literally tell a stranger she is a fugitive on the run and they will open their home to her. As her quest to find Cara, all hell breaks loose and Amy and her bestie, Kerry, embark on a dangerously epic adventure. They risk life and limb to find the truth. All the while, Kerry and Amy are being chased by Claudia McAllister, a famous analyst who is known for finding criminals on the run.
This book engages the reader right from the very start. It a rollercoaster of zany mishaps that have you both simultaneously on the edge or your seat and laughing till tears fall. The plot is of twists and turns that keep you in Amy’s world of delightful chaos. This book is a fun, lighthearted mystery with just a touch of romance. It was a delightful read, and I enjoyed every second of it!

Update 3/5/2018 to review the audiobook: Narrator Rebecca McKernan was wonderful! She really captured the voices for Amy, Kerry and Claudia, and really made their personalities, adventures and banter shine! I’m adding a star, and encourage you to listen to this fun 5* adventure!

“Huntress” is a really, REALLY!, fun comedy adventure mystery romance! MC Amy is determined to find frequent customer Cara, who has suddenly stopped coming in, and whom she really wants to believe has been flirting with her for months. The police brush her off, but her best friend MC Kerry joins her on what turns out to be a series of truly hilarious misadventures across England as they seek to hide from terrorists, the police, MI5 and of course, MC Claudia…the huntress.
MENSA member (well, she would be but she hasn’t paid dues for awhile) Cara is a serious underachiever, working in a coffee shop and dreaming of a possible romance with Cara. She is also scrupulously honest and trusting of people, and she drives Kerry crazy by constantly telling everyone they meet who they are, and that they’re running from the police. Kerry plays a terrific straightman to Amy, and has some great lines:
Not ever outdone, though, Amy also has lots of great quips, and the banter between them is fantastic!
Expert tracker and huntress Claudia is perplexed by the ability of Amy and Kerry to stay one step ahead of her, constantly misinterpreting their amateur bumbling for professional skills!
Well, as with all good lesfic, everything gets sorted out by the end, of course, and I certainly enjoyed the comedic adventure! Note that while this is lesfic, the romance aspect is very minor and while there is a HFN, none of the many adventures are steamy at all. With the right narrator, this might very well be a 5* book, but for now it’s Kindle and a Voice Dream robovoice offering only, and I’ll recommend “Huntress” with a 4.25* rating!

Loved it.
My first novel by A.E. Radley. Won't be my last. Fast paced, non-stop action and silliness. Just what I needed to read. The chapters featuring Amy and Kerry are filled with kindness, humour, and zany good fortune as these two suspects in a terrorist plot attempt to evade the Huntress herself, Claudia. I even enjoyed the usual MI5 CCTV surveillance conversations between Claudia and Mark in the more serious scenes. Loved the madcap narrowboats chase at a ferocious 4km speed.
Full value.

I hadn't looked too closely at the story when I first spotted this book and started to drool over it. Based on some comments I'd seen, a few glimpses from reviews, ratings, etc. So I watched as the days to publication counted down, knowing mostly that this book involved loads of humor. But not really much else (my fault, and somehow I took everything I'd glimpsed, combined it with the book cover, and came up with the insane idea that this might be a humorous fantasy/horror book - I mean, come on, the cover looks like a zombie/werewolf/vampire is creeping up on a car driving along - and, quite frankly, now that I look at it, completely confuses me for being on the cover of this book (the 'fleeing couple' (they aren't a couple but best friends, one lesbian, other straight) ditched the car early on, and everyone chasing them did so, for the most part, with access to modern technology - as in, the fleeing people were afoot, chasing people were acar. So . . . what's with the cover?).
Right, sorry. All I meant to do was say something like: things I had read made me think this would be a humorous lark, maybe vampire related. Took me awhile to realize this was a spy caper. I mean, the book starts off with a coffee shop worker talking to some incompetent police about a missing woman. She doesn't actually know anything about the woman except for the name 'Cara', some kind of 'Spanish' vibe, and that she'd been coming in the shop every work day for 10 months, except for three days ago when she didn't pop in. And is therefore missing. See, I'd been thinking - ooh, I know, she'd been turned into a vampire, like, yeah. That's why she couldn't come in the morning? No - I'd entered this via the wrong genre. This isn't a fantasy/horror doofus. mmphs. Stupid me. Stupid.
Right, so, what is this about? A woman of exactly 25 has great schooling 'but' works as a coffee shop worker because it's safe and pays the minimal bills. She's been flirting for ten months with one of her customers named Cara. Until she wasn't because Cara poofed on her. So, as noted, she told the police. Who didn't give two shits about it. So Amy, the 25 year old is named Amy by the way, decided to investigate the matter herself. So she looks at the video tapes. Mostly to try to pick up on the woman's license plate on the car. Saw how incredibly obvious her flirting was. Also saw that the woman always seemed to park in the same spot which hid the license plate. Also saw that the woman had, at the very least, been using her. Distracting her with mild flirtation while she hid something under one of the tables. She also saw that whatever she had been hiding under the tables for 10 months had: 1) been picked up by 'spiky' so named because of his 'bad hair'; and 2) whatever she'd been hiding, one of those 'things' was still under one of the tables (the 'wrong' table).
Amy looks. Finds USB thingy. Before she can investigate further the spiky haired guy is in her face demanding to know if she had found any USB drives. Because he lost one. Amy lies and says no (which, on the face of it, didn't mean anything right then and there, but now that I've read the book and know that Amy is quite horrible at lying and incapable of doing anything but telling the truth . . . changes that scene in my mind). Man leaves. May or may not believe her. She goes back to the back area, retrieves her laptop (there’s a story there why she has it at work – and why she has a massive camping bag – she and her friend were going to go camping in a test run thing, and after one time she forgot her knickers, she wasn’t going to forget anything ever again, and I mean anything). Plugs the USB into the laptop and . . . before you can say boo, the man pops in and screams at her to give him the USB drive. Mentions several things. She flees. He chases. Her friend Kerry pops up (since they were going to meet there shortly). Man pulls the friend into the crisis. Then police show up, or at least people looking police like with weapons. Amy and Kerry then duck into the ladies (as, obviously, a spy wanting something from you wouldn’t dare follow you into the ladies, right?). And then proceed to continue in their fleeing.
They end up on a train. Then off a train. Then camping. Then . . . well, more fleeing.
Meanwhile other characters are introduced to the story. We have an older fella at MI5 who is tasked with investigating this case. Not immediately obvious but I think part of his scenes actually were set before the USB disk was found. Then scenes in which he hires an ex-MI5 person to track the two women, Amy and Kerry. And she, Claudia, does. All over the place. Driving. Sleeping in car. Driving.
To add to the confusion, Amy, as hinted at earlier, simply can’t stop from being honest. So she basically tells any and every one that she meets that they are on the run from the police. Naturally . . ..
If I had gone into this story correctly, there’s a good chance that I might have ended up on 5 stars. For one, I expected an hilarious romp, whatever genre we were actually going to be in. Some funny moments here and there, but no. This is not an hilarious romp. Soooo…..
Right, last thought: for those looking for romance, yes that trickles in. And no it does not involve ‘spoiler’ .

I read the Flight Series by this author and thought it was just ok. I decided to read this based on some things I heard from other members. And WOW am I glad I did! This was really, really good. Engaging and timely plot. Nicely well-developed main characters. Full of witty dialogue. Really enjoyable!

This is another book I don't know how to rate. Should I put in the category 5 stars or 4.5 stars?
At the beginning of the book I wasn't really thrilled with Amy and Kerry's characters. They were childish, stupid, extremely naive. The kind of character I don't like in an action book.
But I kept reading, because I had read other narratives of the author and she always delivered good stories. Then I continued and Claudia appeared.
This is the kind of character I like. Centered, methodical, professional.
For a good part of the book I just read because of Claudia's work in finding Amy and Kerry, but then I ended up enjoying them and well ... The book became really good to read.
The problem is, the resolution of the case.
While throughout the narrative everything was very consistent and believable, when Claudia makes the statement about who the terrorist is, I didn't feel convinced.
With all the information at hand and she just think: oh I know who the person is
Why?
Okay, she could have her suspicions, but ... In a whole organization, with all those people working, how could Claudia have complete certainty from that moment? Eh ... I couldn't believe it.
I realize that if there was more time for a thorough investigation it would take more pages of the book, but ... It was kind of disappointing to me.
The narrative was constructed and taken to this moment to all end with an exclamation that had no foundation (in that moment), no concrete proof.
Anyway ... So I don't know which category I should rate this book. I feel that for the development of the plot and genius of the author 5 stars would be correct. But then I feel stolen from this investigative work that should have been delivered.
For now, I'll give it 4.8 stars. In another re-reading who knows ...

Huntress is a comedy (mis)adventure involving a wild chase across the UK for two of the most wanted and the most unlikely fugitives--a coffee shop server and her bff--by the best MI5 agents, ex-agents and even double agents. It's a tongue-in-cheek comedy of mistaken identities, evil conspiracies and plain dumb luck.
Amy topped her sociology class in college, but a fear of change and challenges has left her stuck in a safe and familiar job serving up coffee. When a beautiful, sexy regular customer she's been crushing on disappears all of a sudden, Amy stumbles on an incredible secret. Her mysterious crush is passing secrets under her coffee table! She managed to retrieve the spy's last drop--a USB stick filled with what seems like gibberish data. But little does Amy know that her accessing it has just triggered one of the biggest manhunts in MI5 history. Best friend Kerry is just in the wrong place and the wrong time, but with Amy in imminent danger, she doesn't even think twice. And so the two ladies take off for the (mis)adventure of a lifetime--as terrorist fugitives from the law!
This is a really fast, fun and carefree read. Check your logic at the door and enjoy the laugh-out-loud antics of our two unfortunate, accidental terrorists as they bumble along from one place to another, leaving a trail of utterly befuddled agents who need every trick in the book known to the British government, and many tricks they don't, just so they can keep up with the slippery ladies. Occasionally, the pair's actions do slip into 'Dumb and Dumber' category, but I find them infinitely more charming than the male movie versions.
People who are expecting a rom-com: it doesn't happen until the last third of the book so be patient. And even then, the romance doesn't really sizzle. I think part of the reason why I'm not that into it is because despite spending all that time with the Huntress, we don't really know anything much about her beyond her being a top notch agent. For most of her POV, she was all business, so we never got to see the real woman behind the dreaded Huntress. Amy was a much more accessible character and it was impossible not to fall in love with her.
Definitely pick this up for the laughs and the rollicking adventure, for the female bonding and friendship. The case itself doesn't make much sense, and it's best to just not analyze it too much. The romance feels more like an afterthought, which is fine with me, as the book isn't really about that. Amy and the Huntress though, I think there's room for one more adventure.

Amy topped her sociology class in college, but a fear of change and challenges has left her stuck in a safe and familiar job serving up coffee. When a beautiful, sexy regular customer she's been crushing on disappears all of a sudden, Amy stumbles on an incredible secret. Her mysterious crush is passing secrets under her coffee table! She managed to retrieve the spy's last drop--a USB stick filled with what seems like gibberish data. But little does Amy know that her accessing it has just triggered one of the biggest manhunts in MI5 history. Best friend Kerry is just in the wrong place and the wrong time, but with Amy in imminent danger, she doesn't even think twice. And so the two ladies take off for the (mis)adventure of a lifetime--as terrorist fugitives from the law!
This is a really fast, fun and carefree read. Check your logic at the door and enjoy the laugh-out-loud antics of our two unfortunate, accidental terrorists as they bumble along from one place to another, leaving a trail of utterly befuddled agents who need every trick in the book known to the British government, and many tricks they don't, just so they can keep up with the slippery ladies. Occasionally, the pair's actions do slip into 'Dumb and Dumber' category, but I find them infinitely more charming than the male movie versions.
People who are expecting a rom-com: it doesn't happen until the last third of the book so be patient. And even then, the romance doesn't really sizzle. I think part of the reason why I'm not that into it is because despite spending all that time with the Huntress, we don't really know anything much about her beyond her being a top notch agent. For most of her POV, she was all business, so we never got to see the real woman behind the dreaded Huntress. Amy was a much more accessible character and it was impossible not to fall in love with her.

This was so well-written! It was smart, funny, and it held my attention from start to finish (which is something of a challenge these days--I started this book while I was halfway through another). Though this isn't really a romance--the main pair aren't in the same space until the novel's 80% done--it's a thoroughly entertaining read with an utterly charming lead.
Amy was so very likeable and relatable, and the author managed to imbue her with a great deal of agency despite the fact that she was so completely out of her depth. A combination of naked intelligence, abundant charisma, and plain old luck got Amy and Kerry through nearly the whole novel. Also some bumbling incompetence, but that just made it all the more fun.
And extra credit for Kerry. She was a beautifully developed supporting character, and really felt more like one of the leads for most of the book. While this novel wasn't a romance, it was still a love story; the friendship between Amy and Kerry was one of the stars of the story, and it reminded me so much of my own relationships that it felt almost familiar.

Me and Bookclub buddy D. had great fun with this. It promised to be a lighthearted and fun read, a cozy type of mystery with a tiny sprinkle of romance. As a reader you cannot help but feel taken in by the delightful character of Amy Hewitt as she and her best friend Kerry bumble their way through the English countryside.
I think A.E. Radley did a great job overall. The book also has a very appealing cover and lay-out (loved the little touch of color in the header for example).

So I would describe this as a “fluffy” book :) it’s not a romance, it’s not deep, it has no emotions. However, it’s funny, the characters are cute and it’s very different. My rating is 3 only because it’s really not my genre..

I loved the relationship of the two friends, Kerry and Amy. They are just there for each other. Amy, as the main character was so charming. Fleeing the police and this nationwide "manhunt", at the same time helping others along the way. She and Kerry sounded like real friends. There was nothing in the story which would have one doubt that. Kerry stays with Amy, rather flees with Amy all the way with totally amusing conversations as they adapt to their adventure.

I read Flight SQA016 by this author but it didn't engage me as much as this one. This is a humorous and entertaining read which starts with a very original dedication. It is the story of Amy, a motorway coffee shop worker who sets the wheels in motion for an spectacular hunt after one of her daily customer seems to disappear. In the typical manner of a comedy of errors, Amy takes the reader on a journey of crazy situations with her delightful personality and positive attitude. The author excels at the crafting of the characters, with their distinctive personalities and traits. The dialogues are witty and some situations are absurd that set up the comical aspect of the book. Don't expect a realistic thriller but a very enjoyable and fun read.
Overall, 4 stars.

Absolutely *loved* it. Comedic misadventure at it's best. And it's UK, bonus :) This left me wanting more out of the MC's. Like the story really might not be done. So gonna cross my fingers and hope to see more Amy/Claudia. Brilliant really.

I started this book with the wrong idea. Little did I know I was in for a super adventure!
The first few chapters were so hilarious, Amy's slapstick personality made the whole adventure a truly fun read. I love all the characters that helped them in their journey, made me feel warm and fuzzy each time they surprisingly aid Amy and Kerry. I read this in one go as I couldn't help wanting to solve the mystery behind their devious quest.
Amy is such a refreshing character, her honesty and clumsiness makes her lovable. Another great Radley book!
This book needs a sequel. Amy and Claudia working together on a case! Oh the hilarity that could ensue! 😂

This is an absolutely lovely book featuring two BFs on the run: Amy & Kerry. Amy is one of those rare people that everyone instantly likes and trusts, including the reader. If she & her friend approached you on the roadside, told you they were fugitives wanted for terrorism, & asked you for a lift to anywhere, you’d pop open your door & invite them to hop in. Really. Amy, despite a 1st-class degree, appears to have no ambition & in her mid-20s is satisfied to be working as a waitress in a motorway service station cafe. (Granted, her degree’s in sociology!) She becomes infatuated with one of her regular customers, a mysterious sophisticated beauty named Cara, who stops coming without warning. Amy tries informing the police, who aren’t interested. Then she discovers an USB stick hidden under one of tables, apparently the stick was left by Cara. Trying to read it, Amy attracts the attention of a menacing character with really bad hair, & she and Kerry find themselves on the run from MI5, pursued by Claudia, an ace freelance tracker who gives the title to the book. What follows is an absolutely delightful on-the-road (and canal) adventure with two girls on the run. Fortunately they’d been planning to chaperone a troop of girl guides, so have appropriate camping gear, tho’ Amy needs a Dummy’s Guide to pitch their tent. We learn @ the end that the terrorist plot involved railway “ghost-lines” - adding one more item to my never-to-be-fulfilled bucket list. Delicious books like this one are easy to read & make few demands on the reader (not a “Bardo” in sight) except ability to suspend disbelief that such marvellous characters could have such good luck, both travelling & with love. (But I think novels like this are as hard or harder to write well than a Booker Prizer winning doorstopper. Just as a great Sauterne requires as much of the vintner’s art as red Burgundy that has gone off.) It is very very difficult to hit just the right level in this kind of light entertainment - funny but not silly, romantic but not quite total fluff, unlikely but not preposterous. Has the sweetness of a JoJo Moyes novel, but not the bitterness. None of the characters has any problem with her sexuality, but nothing more physical than a kiss occurs. If you’re just in the right mood for a book you’ll actually enjoy reading, The Huntress is absolutely perfect. I hope it’s not too long before I experience the leisure & right mood for another story by A. E. Radley.

She’s also very naive and trusting in a rather adorable way. When the customer she has a huge crush on, Cara, disappears, she tries to get the police involved, in vain. She decides to investigate on her own and finds out the woman left a flash drive stuck under one of the tables every morning and a man would come later in the day and retrieve it. Until a few days ago when Cara left the memory stick under another table, which the man didn’t find. Amy gets the flash drives, opens it and bam! The scary man and the MI5 are suddenly looking for her and Kerry, who helped her get away.
A former MI5 operative, Claudia McAllister is now a freelancer. Yet she’s the best huntress, so her former boss hires her to find the two fugitives, who are considered dangerous terrorists.
This story reminded me of the Australian TV series Wanted in some ways. It’s a comedy of sorts, with a hint of romance, and it was quite enjoyable. I liked Rebecca McKernan’s accents a whole lot, that’s probably what I liked best. That, and the friendship between the MCs.

Amazing book, so many twists and turns. It really keeps you on your toes and anticipating what will happen next. Very well written, I felt as if I truly knew Amy and Kerry. I would definitely recommend this book.

Okay, I absolutely loved this! It was such a good mix of comedy and crime/mystery. I loved Amy's character and her interactions with others, especially her best friend Kerry, were great. I would definitely recommend this if you want a light-hearted mystery. Also, hoping for a sequel *fingers crossed*

A super fun read! You follow Amy and her best friend on a wild run from the law. I'm not one to typically laugh out loud while ready, but I definitely found myself chuckling today while reading this on my way home. I was pretty sad when it ended.

I loved the descriptions of the countryside and little towns. The on-the-lam plot allowed for the introduction of an unusual number of charmingly diverse characters as our heroines made their mad dash toward Glasgow (I think that's where they were headed, there were so many places mentioned). I sincerely hope this is the first of a series. Maybe I'll even write A.E. Radley and beg her for more Kelly, Amy, Claudia and Mark.

Amy is a waitress in a coffee shop where she met an exotic woman. Her normal life turns upside down when she sticks her nose into places she shouldn't. Before she even has noticed, she became a high priority case. Amy and her friend have to flee and are hunted down through the countryside. With a fully-packed rucksack, no real plan of action but with the support of friendly bystanders and foolish activities, they manage to stay a step ahead of the huntress. I don't want to give away to much of this story so you have to read it to know what really happened. Well, I can certainly tell you that this story is fast moving, a smart plotting, filled with lots of twists and turns and it is utterly compelling. There are also a lot of moments that made me chuckle. This is not a romance but you will get misterious circumstances, inept local police, terrorism, missing person, blundering Secret Services, a mole, suspense and humor. I highly recommend it.

Huntress by A.E. Radley is a cute book, a comedy and a mystery novel all in one. To be honest, it took me a little bit to get into this book at first. But once I was past the first couple of chapters, I was completely immersed in it, and it was hard to put down.
This book had me laughing so hard, the interactions between the characters were great. You fall in love with Amy and Kerry and hope everything turns out for them in the end.
My favorite part of the book had to be the chase scene; it's hilarious, and it had me laughing so much. It's not a chase scene you would normally see or expect.

Huntress by A.E Radley is an enjoyable and funny read. But as an audiobook it is even more funnier and enjoyable as all the characters truly come to life. Either way, as a paperback or an audiobook I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants an interesting story, a good laugh, and a smile on their face.

Was this the best book I've ever read? No, but it was better than quite a few and I found it entertaining. Some of my favorite parts all involved Amy being panic stricken and either talking to herself or her best friend Kerry.
