Praise for the book, Next Wave: Worship in a New Era
This is a great book for those worship leaders and those who are aspiring to be one. The author has provided a very good write up on brief history of worship from the 60s to present. And anticipated what we are expecting in the coming 'wave' of worship as we enters into new seasons after/ post covid. As the author wrote, truly God is choosing young psalmists who will learn to read the ocean and ride the waves of the Spirit’s movements in these last days. Those who adopt a John the Baptist lifestyle will be privileged to see the Dove and identify what He’s doing.
Bob Sorge is one of the handful of Christian authors I enjoy reading. This short little book on worship sparked my attention after my pastor mentioned it in a sermon.
Since I grew up in the church I could relate to a lot of the different worship through the decades chapters. Remembered the songs and trends.
Always have loved worship at our church and saw some things that we currently do that he talked about in this new era of worship.
All worship leaders, and musicians would find this book like a history and current text book for how to plug into Gods plans for partnering with him though worship.
The evolution of worship years by years, and the prophetic message how the worship would evolve next. The Covid-19 pandemic has changed everything, including how services conducted. The positive was the sermon now could be wide in audiences, but not that so with praise and worship. Praise and worship from home was very challenging, for many limitations on it. Here the author explained what he got, and wants us to prepare for the next praise and worship wave.
A walk down memory lane with a vision for the future
Bob took me on a journey of my own upbringing! I too sat in church and watched the trends change through the years. Now we stand on the brink of the prophetic movement and worship aligns perfectly. It’s time for the prophets to come out of the wilderness and to build. All Miriam prophets out there - your time has come. As Bob says - go deeper with Jesus. Watch the wave. Position yourself then… CATCH THE NEXT WAVE!
Although I'm not of the charismatic, holiness or Pentecostal traditions I enjoyed most of the spiritual observations in this book. I especially appreciate relying on the Holy Spirit as we contemplate the future of Christian worship.
I liked how the author reviewed he ways of worship over the decades and the examples and reasoning of how we can use different techniques to share our beliefs in Christ.
I enjoied Bob's guided tour of the last 60 years of worship in the churches. It brought back a lot of memories. Bob also brings you to what God is doing and wants to do in this new era and things we can do to get there, examples of what that looks like from what he's experienced.
Oh, my goodness. I love this book. The insights are amazing, and the Lord’s Presence is STRONG on it! Thank you, Bob, for letting Holy Spirit write through you!
