Nice start!
This was a short but very good prequel to Broken Beginnings. It details the first meeting between Lucca and Claire when she is 10 and he is 18. He is just starting out as a Mafia Enforcer and loves his job a bit too much. However, he is good at it and he is seen at home after buying his first house.
Lucca grew up as a foster kid so never had a place to call home. He meets his neighbor, a little girl who likes to come out to talk to him when her Dad isn’t home. Lucca feels protective of Claire and wants to help her since she seems very lonely. I am starting Broken Beginnings right away. :).

This is not a romance, however, it’s a prequel/build up to Lucca’s and Claire’s book Broken Beginnings: A Dark Stalker Mafia Romance. It’s helpful and gives a bit of insight in to Lucca 18 being protective of Claire at 10 and her home life and all that’s going on there. Saying it’s not a romance shouldn’t deter you from reading this as I believe this build up is making me excited to reading their story.

This is just a short prequel of Lucca’s and Claire’s book Broken Beginnings: A Dark Stalker Mafia Romance.
And already at the beginning we can see how much Lucca (18) is willing to protect Claire (10) and what all he is willing to do for her. Now he sees her as his little sister for whom he will do anything. In future?!...
I believe this is going to be a very interesting and intense read and I can’t wait for February 19th when this book comes out.

Lucca and Claire’s story was one that I was looking forward to reading ever since snippets of it were shared in Violent Beginnings. I would have happily waited for the release of Broken Beginnings but when J.L and Cassandra shared the news that a prequel to Lucca’s life when he just started working for Julian (Moretti Crime Family) and how he first met Claire was available (and free mind you), I knew I had to jump onto it first before the Broken Beginnings release.
There’s very little to go on about Lucca so far, but after reading this little story, you’ll definitely have a better understanding of the current situation he’s gotten himself into since we last heard of him in Violent Beginnings, his relationship with Claire, and why she’s so important to him.
Honestly, this was both a juicy and cruel teaser to what’s to come in their full-length novel, because there was once full of heart, understanding, and an innocence to their unique bond and friendship, that easily turned into one of heartbreak and shattered rose-coloured glasses.
This may be short but it already provides readers with both protagonists’ points of view. With Claire being a child, still dependent, and with Lucca just starting out his independency, the dynamic between their mindsets and different mentality are evident — especially during the event the changes everything for both of them.
You feel for Claire. She’s young and fragile in this prequel, and I can only imagine how she’s turned out over the years since. With the drastic and life-altering events that occurred to her, I’m eager to see how she’s coping with life. Lucca’s new to the mob life, still relatively young himself, but he already had a aura of danger and power surrounding him, I can only imagine it growing ten-fold over the years too. But I’m most looking forward to reading Broken Beginnings to see how Lucca will rectify his relationship with Claire.

Heart breaking
Lucca has been bumped around in foster care most of his life so when you could finally get out there, get a job and get his own place he was chuffed it wasn’t in the best area but that didn’t matter to Lucca. He had a job and that’s all that matters it wasn’t a job you could write home about but it was a job. As he left to see out of his back door he saw a little girl just sat there staring at him so he went outside to see if she was okay
Claire like to be outside she found it relaxing but her dad didn’t like her going outside. Only having a dad and he worked long so other than school she was alone. And when her dad returned home from work he would drink he would waste their money on alcohol. And school was a nightmare as she was bullied due to always having dirty tatty clothes and the red hair didn’t help. But the new man who moved in , he didn’t scare her.
There was something quite tragic and heart breaking about this book but it also got me really excited for the next part to come along in their story. Things can only get better for Claire and now with Lucca looking after her hopefully she with you okay.

Fragile Wings is a hard book to swallow for those who are triggered or affected by any kind of abuse. This was so hard for me to read and I couldn't help but break down and cry for this girl who didn't deserve anything she was given. She deserved so much better than anything.
Claire's dad is a drunk who spends all of us money on booze and gambling. When drunk he blames her for everything wrong in his life. Instead of being a real man and taking responsibility he chooses to beat on her. An innocent child who wants nothing more than to be loved and taken care of. Basic needs. No child should ever have to go through this struggle. But it is so prevalent today. The solution is easy, sterilize yourself if you don't want to deal with the consequences of your actions.
I'm trying everything I can to not want to rage against the man myself. Thank goodness there is some sunshine in her life, Lucca. But that sunshine can only shine so bright until it gets dark again. He had every right to stop what was happening. But it went further than anyone expected. Claire has to pay the ultimate price, once again.

Fragile Wings is prequel of Lucca and Claire's story. It's raw, emotional, and gut wrenching. Ten year old Claire is Lucca next door neighbor. She lives with her dad who's always working and when he's not working he spends all their money alcohol and he's debt to the Moretti Family. Claire is poor and would often wears clothes and shoes with holes in them because her dad say there wasn't enough money to buy her many.
Her dad dad would often physically abuse her. She remains Lucca of his life before he started to work for the Moretti that was one reason why he gravitate to her. He always thinks of her as a little sister. Lucca is eighteen years old and he is an enforcer for Julian. It's is first apartment although it maybe in an unsavory part of town and he may not have any furniture. Lucca was very protective of Claire in a brotherly way. He would hurt or kill anyone who harm her. This was a great start to Lucca and Claire's story and can't to continue their story in Broken Beginnings.

Claire meets Lucca when he moves. This girl is curious and they both start talking, sharing stories about their parents until Lucca notices the bruises on Claire’s arms. When he asks her about them she refuses to answer him out of fear.
One afternoon, coming home from school, some boys start to bother her but before they really hurt her, Lucca appears and saves her from them. He thinks those boys are responsible for Claire’s bruises and promises that they will never bother her again.
But one day when he got home he hears Claire screaming amd when he enters her house and sees what is happening to her, Lucca transforms before Claire’s eyes. Lucca is not longer the kind man she could trust, Lucca turns into a bloodthirsty monster.
From then on Claire will fear him but Lucca swears to her that as long as he lives he will keep her safe and she will never lack for anything.
I’m dying to know what happens since it seems that she is the reason why Lucca ends up betraying Julian.

This is setting up for what is to come! Is that not the function of a Prequel? Fantastic writing with a story that is yet to be told but these two give the information in such style and brilliance. This is just the beginning of Lucca and Claires story and I say only the beginning because there is more to this than just the prequel we have been blessed with. We also get to see more into the Moretti Crime Family with this introduction to these characters. It is heartwarming and also heartbreaking making me crave for more! Two incredible authors bring an astounding story to light that will cripple you in your heart and break your soul. I am so excited for the next installment with these two and ready for the journey to continue.

A short prequel to Lucca and Claire's story. At 18 Lucca finally has a place to call his own though it's not much, from growing up with nothing anything is good and working with the Moretti crime family helps. Claire at 10 years old knows its rude to stare but since Lucca moved in she cant help but wonder if he could become a friend, hes older but she doesnt have any friends. Lucca senses there is something not right with Claire and her father but when he learns what it is, he cant be held back in doing what he must to protect Claire. Only who can protect Claire from Lucca. Well written short introductory story for the new book in the Moretti crime family series.

Lucca has looked after himself sense he grew out of foster care. The only one that gave him a chance to channel his negative energy is the Moretti family. Though moving next door and seeing a little stare at him made all his protective instincts light up. Claire was just happy to have someone to talk to and genuinely care about her. Her mother left and her father no matter how he treats her is all she feels she has on the world in young brain. So what Lucca thought was an act of protection Claire saw as the real him. The trust they spent left. Though Claire wants nothing more to do with him, Lucca will make a vow that he intends to keep whether she likes it or not.

Time to heal and make things right! This is about little Claire and Lucca. Lucca is young too at just 18, but due to his background he is more mature than any adult and when he meets Claire, who is 10, he becomes this big brother and wants to make sure she is protected even from her father is a worthless man. Lucca seems to lose control when some young kids are picking on her and almost kills one, but Claire realizes that she will always be protected with him, until her father sees her getting out of Lucca’s car. Things change for the worse on Claire, but now it is time to heal and Lucca to keep his word to this young little girl who has been handed the worst beginning due to the worst parents.

Fragile Wings is the prequel to upcoming book Broken Beginnings and tells the story of how Luca and Claire meet. Claire is a 10 years old girl living with her alcoholic and abusive father. Her mother left and he’s all she has in the world. Lucca is 18 and working for the Moretti crime family. He was in the foster system and he finally has a place of his own when he moves into Claire's neighborhood. He befriends Claire and wants to protect her when he starts to notice things are wrong. This is a very good start to Lucca and Claire’s story and I am excited to read the rest of their story in Broken Beginnings when it’s available. I recommend this prequel.

This prequel is about Lucca and Claire. Although we don't know Claire's age it's implied that she is very young. Claire is being abused by her father and bullied by school peers, so when she meets Lucca, who treats her a like a princess, she is immediately taken with him. This is the prequel to the Broken Wings series. Lucca met Claire and was protective of her, and Claire thought the world of Lucca until she saw him for what he is. Lucca swears that Claire will be his. This is the ground work to the characters in the new series and a glimpse into what we are going to be reading. I cannot wait for more. This is a crime family novel, it has violence and it is dirty and gritty. If this is like the other stories it is going to be a hit. Loved it. Great characters, I felt sad for both of these characters. I am hooked.

Fragile Wings is the prequel to the Broken Beginnings novel and features the early years of Lucca, an eighteen year old raised in foster care and working with Julian Moretti as a fixer, and Claire, a ten year old deserted by her mother and physically abused by her uncaring father. Lucca attempts to protect her while Claire develops a great trust in him. But she does not realize what he really is like and what he does for an occupation. I can hardly wait to read Broken Beginnings to continue their story.

This is the prequel for Broken Beginnings and it sets up what is going to be a stellar storyline. Lucca is a young man who has taken care of himself from a very early age. Absolutely amazing and this is just the prequel! It left me on the edge of my seat in anticipation for the main book - A riveting storyline and characters you will love and root for are some of what to look forward to. Definitely recommended! Wow what a freaking prequel this is!
I don’t usually give such short reads 5 starts.
Just because there’s usually so little to go by.
But this one is outstanding.
It’s a very quick read but leaves such a big impact.
In Fragile Wings we are introduced to Lucca and Claire as individuals.
And then how they get to know each other.
It’s fast paced and a definite page turner.
I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.
And now waiting on pins and needles for Broken Beginnings!

Fragile Wings by C. Hallman and J.L. Beck introduces the story of Lucca Torres and his 'Butterfly' Claire. I'm not going to lie, I was anxiously awaiting for this tale since the finale of Markus' story and now that Lucca proclaimed himself Claire's protector and caretaker after those awful events, I'm looking forward to the plot to reveal itself. It won't be easy, specially concerning Claire's mindset regarding Lucca, but I'm sure we're in for a hell of a ride!

WTH... Did I just read!! Fragile Wings by C. Hallman & J.L. Beck is one over the top shocker filled with emotions, tears and suspense. We meet Lucca Torres, Enforcer for the Moretti Crime Family and Butterfly (Claire) his young neighbor. The drama is gripping, dark and gritty. I definitely can’t wait to read more on these two in Broken Beginnings. Would I recommend it: Yes
