Caleb and Hannah have always sort of skirted their attraction, but 2 years earlier, they gave into it, had a one night stand and then Caleb, furious at his father for his infidelities, took off for a 2 year tour of duty, deep undercover. So it isn't until he returns home because of his father's stroke that he realizes Hannah gave birth to his son. Caleb wants to be a part of his son's and Hannah's life and offers marriage. Although Hannah absolutely wants her son to know his father and for Caleb to be involved in the raising of their son, Hannah isn't committing to a military guy, even if she loves him desperately. She wants a stable man who will be with her, physically, through thick and thin and who is committed to his family first and foremost. Caleb wants Hannah, but wants her to want him as he is...a military man who plans to leave for another tour of duty as soon as his father is healthy again.
So this had just the right amount of relationship angst that I've come to expect from this author. It's not OTT, it's not devastating, but it's just enough tension to create a believable obstacle for the couple and this author does that really well. I also like that our heroine, Hannah, isn't at all opposed to Caleb being a part of their son's life, doesn't resent it and did nothing to hide the existence of their son at all. She did everything she could to tell Caleb, but his military mission made him knowing about their son pretty much impossible. The secondary characters are also good for enhancing the storyline and the chemistry and passion between the characters was great. I really liked the tension in their romance and their coming together to get to know each other again after their past together, especially with their little plot moppet.
Now, all that being said, I still for some reason found myself frustrated with these MCs. I don't think I liked that the heroine was so easily persuaded to go against her original interests - like her decision to turn the relationship sexual was out of the blue and with absolutely no thought to her original doubts...and also the fact that, at times, I honestly had no idea what she really wanted from Caleb. She'd say she wanted him out of the military, but that she wouldn't force his decision but in her own way she was holding their relationship hostage over it, but then suddenly she wasn't and it was just his trust and communication that he wanted. I got confused (as did Caleb) over what she actually wanted. I also didn't care for the fact that Caleb went into their relationship knowing Hannah's hangups about commiting to a military guy and setting out to get her to fall in love with him while still getting his tour of duty...seems like some shady behavior...like he didn't care that either way he'd end up causing her pain. Nor did I like that she kinda did the same thing, thinking that through their relationship she'd convince him to give up the military.
And in the end, I wasn't 100% clear whether he did or not. Or whether she accepted whatever decision he'd make and the decision was just left up in the air (and with no epilogue). This means their HEA isn't 100% clear to me. Because I'm not sure I'm buying into a happy ending where he spends 2 more years completely incommunicado and missing his family while Hannah stays at home pining for him and raising their toddler son alone. And then Caleb doesn't get to see him until he's 4 and has missed all the milestones. I think that needed to be clearer. Still a good solid story and I feel the need to go out and look for more by this author because she honestly does write good angst and I feel like at least one of her stories is going to fit me perfectly.

If you're into well-written classic romances, you'll love this one. The superb descriptions will make you feel like you're there. The Marine's Red Hot Homecoming is sweet, humorous and sensual.
Marine Caleb comes home from deep cover and finds out he's a father to Jason, an adorable sixteen month old. Hannah wants him to be a part of the baby's life, but she's been burned before and doesn't want to marry him--because her ex was in the military and boy did he do a number on her. What's a girl to do? I love their "date", that was such a cute and warm scene :)
I particularly like that both Hannah and Caleb want what's best for the baby and their family even if they can't agree on what that is.
It was also nice to catch up with Kennedy, from another book in the series.
I loved this story!! Caleb Gibson is a marine who was on deep cover mission when he is summoned home to run the family business while his father recovers from a stroke. On his way home he discovers that he is the father of Jason, the son of Hannah Sullivan, whom he had a one night stand with two years before. Hannah didn't want Caleb to leave when they were together two years before and tried her best to talk him out of leaving. Now she has his son and they will have to work together for the sake of their son.
This story is not your normal secret baby scenario. It was heartfelt story with a lot of internal conflict and in the end how hope and forgiveness can heal you. I recommend to anyone who enjoys a fun, smexy, romance with a hot marine and a strong heroine.
The Marine's Red Hot Homecoming by Christine Glover is a surprise baby, military parent story. Caleb Gibson's father’s stroke pulls him home from deployment. Back home, he’s shocked to see not only Hannah Sullivan, his unforgettable one-night stand, but her son, who is quite obviously also his son. He proposes immediately, but Hannah, deeply wounded by a prior relationship with a military man, refuses to be party to a marriage of convenience.
It's clear that their sizzling connection extends past that one night, but Caleb's determination to do right by his country and his family puts him at odds with Hannah's desire to protect her son and her heart.
Ms Glover writes movingly about Caleb and Hannah's struggle to come to agreement even as they struggle to resist their fierce attraction.
This story is the first I have read by Christine Glover, and it kept me turning pages. Hannah's strength to raise a child alone, build her own business, and still find away to love Caleb were the reasons. When Caleb finally realized what he was losing, I had tears of joy that all was not lost. I found the storytelling engrossing and look forward to reading more from this author.
This is my unsolicited review and I highly recommend it.
The Marine's Red Hot Homecoming is the third book in Christine Glover's Sweetbriar Springs series. It is the story of Hannah Sullivan and Caleb Gibson. While on his third tour of duty for a covert Marine mission, unbeknownst to Caleb, he became a father when Hannah had their baby. Many months later when his father had a stroke, he was allowed to return to Sweetbriar Springs to take temporary control as CEO over Gibson Technologies. Now he wants to talk to Hannah and meet his son. "Jason needs to know who his father is--according to your letters that guy is me." Caleb had rejected Hannah when he decided to take a third tour of duty. Will he decide to leave on the next tour that is less than a month away? I liked the plot of this story and would have rated it higher, but I found it repetitive.
The Marine's Red Hot Homecoming by Christine Glover....Oh my goodness, I absolutely loved this book, it was so well written and held your attention all the way through. What more can you ask for, a hot marine that comes homes to help his family out with the business, due to dad illness. A Beautiful woman who is the mother to his child that he did not know about. These two Caleb and Hannah has so much chemistry for each other and love their child so much, are they willing to change theirs lives to be a family? This is one book you do not want to miss, you will love it as much as did.
