Spoiler free section: This is one of those books where things don't happen because a character wants something to happen, this is a book where things happen because the author wants something to happen logic, characterization and everything else be damned.
Spoiler section: This book actually got me frustrated. It started out basic enough, MC gets introduced to a magic world with werewolves, magic, vampires that kind of thing at the same time her mom disappears. In this new world, she learns that she is an impure, the offspring of a fallen angel and a normal angel. She learns that she has a family that her mother hid her from, including a twin brother and two younger sisters. Furthermore, there is an uncle and aunt that none of the siblings have neither met nor heard of before. Nothing especially new but nothing too bad, yet. The first half of the book does a pretty decent job at introducing the reader to the world. Then we get to the first major plot point, the death of one of the sisters. The sister is for some reason at the local "magistrate" (base for impures) or whatever it was called, there she runs into the previously mentioned uncle who introduces himself by name, and the sister who is 16 conveniently forgot that it was the name of the uncle she had been told of less than a week ago. What happens next? The uncle kills her of course. Why? Who knows he just did and then gets caught and thrown into the basement and locked away there. A couple of chapters later the twin Andrew goes to kill the guy AND THERE IS NO SECURITY WHATSOEVER so he just waltzes in and gets his ass handed to him by his uncle when his aunt conveniently shows and kills her husband in revenge for her niece. Then the foster parents show up and takes the aunt away and we never hear from her again. We never get to learn why he killed his niece and what either of them were doing there, they just disappear from the story from this point
From this point on every single plot point is similar. Plot happens for plot reasons and characters don't have any agency. Things happen for the sake of drama and plot and if a character isn't important to the current plot point they just disappear with no trace. The MC's two best friends who introduce her to this world basically disappear after the first part and does nothing except hang around in the background. The main love story is cute but takes a drastic turn to the terrible when you learn of the main conflict in it, another conflict that only exists for the sake of drama and conflict and is downright contradictory to what's been previously established in the book.

I am someone that is very critical about Storyline and Character development. I thought Kaitlyn did an amazing job with both. I found the book to be an enjoyable read as well. I would highly suggest this book to everyone.
