Jason Pearson is an American comic book writer/artist, known for his work on books such as Legion of Super-Heroes, The Dragon: Blood & Guts, Global Frequency, and his own creator-owned series, Body Bags.
Pearson is also one of the original members of the Atlanta, Georgia-based Gaijin Studios, and has participated in several Gaijin Studios-related projects.
This was decent, especially for a mid-90s Image comic. I guess the reason it was done as a limited series was the fact it was a different creative team, rather than Erik Larsen as writer and artist who's done probably 99% of the series.
It was enjoyable, but it's nothing that couldn't have been done in the regular Dragon series.
First time I have read a "Savage Dragon" book that wasn't done by Creator Erik Larsen. While not being as good as some of Larsen's best work, "Blood & Guts" fills in a little bit of story along Dragon's origin, early in the comic series. At its best moments, there isn't blazing comic book action but discussions between Dragon and Officer Alex and others. Even some practical jokes(!). A fun read but nothing profound.
