amelia is the stupidest character ever written and trust me i have no problems whatsoever with innocent and naive characters but she’s just straight up dumb
harry is an abusive and manipulative piece of shit who gets praised for looking good and looking for her afterwards
i do understand and sympathize with his blackouts but i can’t stand for the life of me the way we just ignore his actions and the way he treated her for the longest time

Okay it was really bad at the beginning (like first 40 chapters) but then it gets really good
The plot twist OMG 😭 I'm dying I was expecting anything but this
I'm kinda neutral about Amelia though 😭 Guess I'm loyal to Aven cause she was Amazing
However Harry. OMG. I love him sm 😭 I might love him even more than duplicity Harry
So yeah 4/5 cause Amelia is mid and the beginning was Bad

i don't know how to feel about this book, the two main characters, harry and amelia pissed me off 99% of the time because of their stupid decisions. I started enjoying the book about 30 chapters in.
and the fact that they SPOILER ALERT killed zayn in the first few chapters? disappointing

first of all……. i know……… look away
but also the way i absolutely despised harry in this is evidence that my frontal lobe has developed
fmc took 20 years to stand on business, but she got there eventually (kinda)
the author started writing this when she was a teenager, and i have to be realistic abt what i’m reading, so i cant be too critical, but at the very least this shit makes me feel so nostalgic

This book was an emotional rollercoaster. Them always making progress and then going back to hating each other (most of the times because of Harry) was pretty exhausting but it was definitely worth it! I like how Amelia managed to turn Harry into more of a good person and how they both changed.
The plot twist was pretty good too, you could've have figured it out but really knowing you're right, still comes as a shock.
The writing wasn't as good as in other books (of hers too) I read, but considering it was her first book, the writing was really good. The ending was so sad again, exactly like the ending of duplicity, her other book, and it was written so SO beautiful! Her writing definitely improved throughout the book.
I'm really excited to continue this trilogy with the sequel now.

i will always eat up a good fanfic. i think when you go in with the notion that it’s gonna push so many boundaries and probably be way too out there, it makes it such a fun read.
after reading duplicity, what else could i expect from julez. she planned every twist so well and her attention to little details is what kept me intrigued throughout the entire book. and the comments of course.
i must point out… amelia has so many flaws holy shit. first of all, her fuck ass outfits. no one wanted to see that at the club, like even for 2017, that is just not hitting lol. second of all, she needs to shut her mouth sometimes i’m sorry! maybe this is offensive to feminism but girl save yourself! damn! but i digress. like, yes, that is the joy of fanfics and comments. we ALL agree that she is making horrible decisions, fashionably and emotionally, so honestly i couldn’t even give a gaf anymore.
obviously, there’s no way i can rate this as i would straight up, because i think everything should be rated in context to what it is. for a harry fanfic, like hell yeah. it’s good that this was huge in 2020 during that era of everything; along with duplicity, julez shaped the fandom fr. and not in a weird freaky way like after did (sorry). the fact that it’s all for fun, at least in my mind, is what makes reading shit like this so enjoyable. just ignore the imperfections and appreciate the art!

It’s Christmas and I literally couldn’t stop reading. The jumpsuit haunts me but chapter 100 haunts me even more. I never thought I could fall in love with a kidnapper but he’s harry 😭 also it’s wattpad so it’s forgivable. Harry just loved her In a way I want to be loved. I love you harry but I’ll never forget that heartbreaking letter you wrote and gave her after pushing her in that elevator to set her free 😭😭😭 she should’ve stayed kidnapped forever

“So now this is goodbye. I can't promise I'll see you in the heavens because I know I won't be going there. But I love you Amelia, I'll never stop. You silenced the demons in my head, and you loved me for who I was. You made me become vulnerable, but also made me learn that letting yourself be vulnerable was a way to let love into your life. God you taught me so many things baby. Don't think of me as dead, just think of me as in the other room; writing in our office or reading a book.

I always said I'd love you till my last breath, but knowing that I'm going to be facing that soon- it doesn't seem like it means justice anymore.

I will love you till the end of time. “ FUCKING HELL

okay so i was SO skeptical at first but i really liked this towards the end. You could really tell that Jules got better at writing as the story went on and i felt like she got more passionate. I love the whole gang aspect super cool. Also i like that harry is kinda a d***but not too bad. Some thinks amelia does is SO CRINGE HOLY CRAP.. But it’s okay i don’t accept Amelia slander. The first half of the book is kinda cringe but it gets good as you continue on. so you have to push through in order to sob. When Amelia reads the letter harry gave her i actually was not okay for a solid 3-5. business days. I READ IT IN PUBLIC AND HAD TO HOMD BACK TEARS.
fav main: Harry sorry amelia
fav character: prob louis.. or niall both pretty good
least fav: EFFING ERICA
favorite moment: christmas or when he showed her his office
most cried: literally coild not cry in public but 100% the letter omfg
most uncomfy- UH 100% when SHE WORE THAT ONE THING TO THE CLUB EWWW

Where to begin....
First, I would like to say I did enjoy this book. However, it was definitely not my favorite. No offense to Julez because I love her but I kind of hated Amelia. Don't get me wrong she had some okay moments, but the secondhand embarrassment I suffered almost made me stop reading a number of times. Now, I am also aware that this is just book one of a three book series and I do have plans to finish. But as I mentioned the first book had so many embarrassing moments that I need to take a break before I start book two. As for Harry, I love dark Harry fics. I wasn't a huge fan of him blacking out when he gets mad, but I guess we will see where that goes next book. I also wasn't a huge fan of how this book ended but it will probably be better once I read the other books. As I said I really did enjoy this book most of the time and would recommend to any Harry/1D fans.

Hello friends! I would just like to say that I’ve never sobbed harder over a single piece of reading. When I say sobbing, I mean I was literally crying so hard my head began to hurt. This piece may seem like it’s going to be just another cringed fan fiction, but oh my gosh it is so much more than that. I have fallen absolutely in love and cannot wait to read the next book. I would so so so recommend this book. There are massive trigger warnings (too many to list) but they’re on the pages needed so read at your own risk!

First of all I would like to say that i do not at all condone the romanticization of stockholm syndrome however this book while it did have some spelling errors was really well written. The plotline flowed really well and you could tell that it was planned out. Its definitely one of my favorite wattpad books i've read and I absolutely would reread it if I had the time. By the end there is definitely great character growth and the book has great plot twists. It's really great for a wattpad book and considering it was one of her first works ever.

My 14 year old self would have been screaming
I got addicted to it and finished it in 2 days.

I saw a lot of reviews about this book saying it’s wrong and shouldn’t be romanticized. But I don’t think that’s true. Of course I would not recommend this to young people, it has to be read with caution.

But each reader gets to decide what he enjoys reading or not. And that’s what dark romance is, if you don’t enjoy it, that doesn’t mean you should come at the author’s throat criticizing their work.
To young people: please don't let it fuck up your vision of love (falling in love with your kidnapper is not okay).

I HAD to read Julez' first story after reading Duplicity, it was fun (and incredible) to see how much she improved over the years.
Malignant got me out of my reading slump thank the lord

Loved it I'll start the second one now goodbye

In the world of fanfiction, this is definitely one of the best stories I've ever read. The amount of times I was surprised by this book was countless. The love story is a bit cringy, but it also makes sense, since it's about first love, and if we think about it, all first love stories are, in a way, crappy. But the core of the story is so good that, against my reluctance at first - I thought it was all going to be very predictable - I'm definitely going to read the other two books.

4.5*** Malignant was very, i believe this ff was finished in 2018 and it was jules’ first, we clearly see the astonishing evolution of jules writing style when we compare it to Duplicty (now Complicity ;)) it’s impressive, the trope and the end were amazing, I love Harry’s story and the letter made me broke down in pieces. looking forward to reading the second and third ff !!!

It was good and fun to read. There were things happening all the time and it was so entertaining especially with the secrets and plot twists. What made me dislike it a little is how crazy both characters actually were like those 2 we’re not feeling well in the head and the Stockholm syndrome made it weird😭 still loved it tho for some reason. Made me ugly cry
