In a city in which all manner of supernatural creatures live side by side, Vex, an affable, middle-aged demon, has abandoned Hell in favor of a cozy suburban home.
He has a quaint garden in which he grows carnations; a lovingly-furnished living room where he often enjoys a nice cup of tea with Gramiel, an angel and his best friend; and a basement in which he keeps the remains of all the people the two of them have murdered.
I'm hooked into this novella series. Do I know what is actually going on? No. Is there any romance except major best friend pining so far? No. Is there lots of murder and chaos? Yes. This is a journey, and I'm along for the ride 😅
This flash fiction/very, very short story isn't written that badly, but the reason I won't recommend it is because it's part one of a three short story set. Story 2 has 46 pages and Story 3 has 53 pages and each one costs just under $5.NZD. This is ridiculously expensive, especially when you know what it roughly costs per e-book, to put one out, and how small of a percentage that Amazon takes. I am very tired of greedy writers and while in some cases, if the writing is worth it, I will read the story via Kindle Unlimited, I'm too annoyed at this writer to be able to enjoy doing that.
Yeah this story really made me laugh. I don’t know why but it’s funny when people matter of factly go around doing what amounts to being a serial killer.
A fine start to the series, setting the stage for Vex and Gramiel's world and teasing at their Bigger Plan that isn't JUST about the murder. Vex is the epitome of Charming, Lovable, Murderous Rogue, and Gram is a curious mix of Pearlclutching Auntie and Utter Righteous Murder. They're both fun to listen to and watch them plot and then watch those plots get absolutely blown to smithereens. And then to see, like many things this author writes, the characters' vulnerable underbellies get shown and petted.
Somehow, this story about an angel and a demon murdering people is COMFORTING. I don't know how the author manages, but they do.
