DEFIANT HEIR: is the third full length New Adult | Friends to romance book in the series 'The Heirs', by Michelle Heard. Spoken in 'Dual Perspectives.'
❝I want to enjoy every glance, every touch, every step closer to each other before I have to share it with the world.❞
Whoa this book put me through the paces, I felt like I was expressing every emotion via emoji's.
Jumping into this I was pulled in straight away 🥰Loving the build up as they tried to find their way of moving from friends to maybe more as Kao decides to take the bull by the horns and finally ask Fallon out on a date, making those butterfly feelings come at me like a thunder bolt, I wanted to stay in that moment more. But Nooooooo this author had to rip that safety blanket right out from under me. 🙅♀️😫Going from an all the feels moment to an emotional one without warning. That twist landed me on my ass, gasping in its wake 😳my eyes from that point onwards were glued to the kindle racing to see how severely things were going to change and what impact it would place on them going forwards. It's during this time when Kao drastically went from a reasonably highish mark to a zero 🤬🤷♀️god he just made me so angry, he'd not only hurt Fallon but I felt like he'd ripped my heart 💔out in the process. But a slow burn restarted rekindling my heart opening up towards Kao again 😬as he'd stepped up to be the man Fallon deserved and one I always knew him to be.
This authors strengths are in giving us the unexpected, even though you think your prepared going into a book of hers, think again, because somehow she always pulls you into a false sense of security before she takes you unawares and plays with your emotions. Her books are always unique, and no matter what she makes you dig deep to pull out those emotions, that's why I keep coming back each and every time, she makes me feel things that normally lay dormant.
Her characters and their struggles are always ones that we easily connect with and relate to, their struggles become ours, their lovers get claimed by us the readers, each book written just gets better and better.
She gave me a highly emotional romance, she gave me the angst, she gave me a boy who lived in the shadows to fall in love with, she gave me all the feels. This author has upped the anty and there is no holding her back!! Highly recommend!! 👍👍👍👍
I've established few points in this series: ◾ Short and quick reads ◾ One emotional blunt leads to the whole story nothing else is there. JUST ONE MAIN THING. ◾ Characters sound snobbish at more than few points (I know they're shown super rich🙄) ◾ Almost evey person in there group does something really dumb even being 'mature' enough.
In this book also the storytelling was good. Plotting/storyline was also good enough. But characters didn't do justice with the whole story.
Emotional read that had me wanting to shake some sense into Koa.
Fallon and Kao have been friends for a long time, they started getting cozy and it seemed as if they were dating already but they weren't but that was all about to change because Kao had finally asked Fallon out on a proper date, a nice dinner at a beautiful restaurant. I was sooooo excited to see the way things would play out because as I said it was as if they were already a couple already with the stolen glances, slight touches, forehead kisses, and such, but then in a blink of an eye things changed so drastically. "Defiant Heir" is the third book of 'The Heirs" series by the best-selling author Michelle Heard. Told in dual Perspectives , get ready to finally meet Kao and Fallon!!
After reading the last book of this Series , I knew that Kao and Fallon's book was going to be downright explosive! The way this author writes is addictive to me and there is no way I would ever miss a chance to read any of her books!! Kao and Fallon absolutely ripped apart my heart and Their painful journey of love and redemption is something that I am going to cherish forever.
Kao and Fallon have been in love with each other for years! Now they finally have their chance to be with each other. That is until life plays them in the worst way. Their story gets broken apart even before it started and now they have so many demons to overcome before they can be with each other.
I love the way these two completely sacrificed anything for each other! Their love was amazing and the storyline of this book completely ripped me apart. By the end I was in tears and never wanted this story to end! This series is definitely an addiction of mine and there is no way I am stopping until I read all the damn books!! A definite recommendation to all the contemporary romance lovers out there!
Defiant Heir is the story of Kao Reed and Fallon Reyes. They have the sweetest of beginnings before it all goes downhill. But they get back together, stronger than ever.
Synopsis: Kao and Fallon want to take it slow. They don't want to announce their feelings for each other in front of their group of friends, yet, even though they're always together, together. But an accident leaves Kao blind and Fallon scarred. Feeling immensely guilty about putting her life in danger, Kao starts to distance himself from Fallon. How do they find their way back towards each other?
Review: This one starts in much the same way as the first two books in the series. When Kao is twenty-three-years-old and Fallon nineteen. The tables have turned in this one as it is Kao who's first-person narration starts this one, where he's in love with Fallon. He's her plus one, always accompanying her everywhere, though they haven't made it official.
Such sweetness right at the beginning is worrisome though, as to what unpleasantness is to come in the story. There are talks of soulmates, first kisses, falling in love, and taking it slow. And then the inevitable happens, a dark chapter starts in Kao and Fallon's journey. It was so heart-breaking to see Kao transform from a soft-spoken guy to one who constantly lashed out.
At times, the characters did feel vain though, especially Fallon. But then, only someone who has gone through so many life-changing instances in such a short period of time would know how everything feels. Moreover, there's so much heartache and tenderness in the story that it makes up for it.
It was bittersweet to see them healing each other. As the end came nearer, it was a bit of a seesaw, between liking and loving the story. It is not my place to judge, especially since I haven't faced in life what Fallon went through. All I can say is that while having scars across your face is scary, but constantly speaking about it as if some people don't live with it, have no choice but to live with it… I mean, they all are very rich and can afford the best doctors. Why such vanity over good looks then?
"Those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind."
The truth is that in a way from the first book in the series, we have realized who will be the couples that they will becoming an item, and even though you will think that things will go smooth and this will be an easy ride, Michelle Heard is making the unexpected!!! OMG!!!! I wasn't expected this turn of events in here and my heart was breaking for both Fallon and Kao. Michelle Heard knows how to keep you on your toes and it shows!!!
"My blind love, my blind love, See how he fights, see how he fights, He lost his sight, he lost his will, He became defiant; he became heartless. Did you ever see such a thing in your life, As my blind love?"
For Kao and Fallon, it was inevitable to not end up together... There is a strong friendship between them, but at the same time, their feelings toward each other is more than friendly and it really shows in the way that they're behaving toward each other. So, finally, Kao is taking the decision that they have to make the next step and it was so effortless for them to be a couple...
"She's become my every breath, and I know I won't survive a minute without her."
Everything are so great, no??? Unfortunately, i' m going to bust your happy bubble!!! Something bad and unexpected happened, something that broke them and they had to face many demons in order to find their way back to each other. Their struggles and their heartache were unbareable, even for me, but I won't lie to you that I didn't enjoy this ride, full of emotions!!!
"He was my person. My love. Not being able to comfort him is the worst torture."
"I need to sow destruction. I need to let out the anger... the despair... the fucking guilt."
Kao was the sweetest thing and the most caring man in the world, but in a way, his good boy act had failed when things got rough. Yes, he had his reasons, but still... He became another person and along with himself, he hurt Fallon irreparable!!! As for Fallon??? If Kao hadn't take the cower's road and if she had him by her side in these difficult days that made her question everything, she could survive everything that life had thrown into their way. And still... even with all this heartache that Kao caused her, she never stopped being there for him...
"You know I want you. It's not a secret I try to hide. But I can't have you. We're bound to break, and my hands are tied."
"It's so frightening how much power you have... You control my happiness."
Well, this was not an easy ride, but I loved that the author is surprising us like that, even when she is breaking our hearts with her crazy decisions to turn her perfect heroes to imperfect creatures full of faults and wrong decisions that can cost them!!! Kao and Fallon were just perfect for each other and after all this adventure they became perfectly imperfect. Michelle tested their love and they managed to be the winners at the end, even with more scars!!!
"Everything I am begins and ends with you."
**I received an ARC for the exchange of an honest review**
This is the third book of The Heirs interconnected standalones.
Kao and Fallon have been always been close and with growing up together, as their parents are business partners. Fallon is a planner, likes things in order, yes you could say she's a control freak, outgoing, next in line for Vice President of CRC Holdings, her family is one of the founding families of Trinity Academy. While Kao is an observer from the sidelines, doesn't really mingle. He's next up for taking over his father's position in Indie Ink.
All the kids are close, now living together in the same space, Kao and Fallon are getting more closer. When the time comes for them to become more it's ripped away from them. Kao becomes cold and cruel towards Fallon, this leaves her broken hearted. She's never seen him like this. Seeing the look of disgust on his face, raising his voice to her shatters her heart even more. While she's suffering & hiding in silence, everyone's too busy attending to Kao's needs. When they realise this, they all feel terrible.
They're both taking the blame for what happened. Will they come to their senses and get back on track? Kao has alot of grovelling and alot to make up for realising he was wrong in pushing her away. Will Fallon give him the chance?
“I don’t want to forget, and there’s no moving forward without you.”
Right away readers are feeling safe in the romance and friendship of The Heirs. The author is quick to pull the rug out from under us. But it's okay, she only does it to build it all back up in the sweetest way. My 'bedazzled ass' is loving this series more and more.
Kao Reed and Fallon Reyes are both control freaks of a different kind. Extroverted Fallon has a tight leash on her control and Kao, the hermit, tries to do everything himself. These long-time friends are in love and ready to finally come forward with their relationship when the unexpected happens and tears up everything they had established.
At first, I was aggravated with Kao's behavior. I was hoping to see him rise up for himself and Fallon when it was needed. Although he wasn't there for Fallon right away, he quickly realizes how wrong it was to shut her out. I liked that he realized he needed to earn back her trust. He was patient and really understood Fallon and I think that's the beauty of friends-to-lovers relationships.
This was another beautiful, romantic installment in The Heirs series and I am really looking forward to book 4!
I am happy to have received an ARC and voluntarily left an honest review.
Book 3 in The Heirs series sees recluse Kao Reed (son of Marcus and Willow) and the sociable Fallon Reyes (daughter of Falcon and Layla), get their story. A friends to lovers that sees their journey into starting a relationship fraught with tragedy and emotion following an unlucky incident. An incident that changed both their lives. When Kao pushes Fallon away, for all the wrong reasons, she is heartbroken, and when Kao finally sees the light, is it too late to rebuild their friendship again? I’ve got to say, I shed more than a few tears whilst reading this book, at points I didn’t like Kao much, his stupidity got the best of him. I was just as frustrated as Fallon. They were both in a unique and vulnerable situation, and Kao’s initial reaction did nothing to help assist with their rehab. Great characters and another wonderful read. I received an advanced copy of this book. This is my honest review.
Ever since I finished the Trinity Academy series by Michelle, I have been so ready to read the spin off series starring their kids, and the kids from the Enemies To Lovers series. The crossover of these two worlds began in the final two books of the Trinity Academy series and I was excited to see all the kids grown up and ready to have their own HEAs. Defiant Heir is book 3 in the Heirs series but can be read as a standalone.
Fallon Reyes and Kao Reed have been dancing round one another for a long time, secret touches and chaste forehead kisses, when Kao finally asks Fallon out on a date. Ecstatic that the boy she’s been in love with for so long has finally made a move, they are both ready to start the rest of their lives together, but when tragedy strikes on the way to their first date, life as they knows is it gone forever. Both suffer from potentially life changing injuries, and both deal with the trauma in a different way. Kao, ridden with guilt for hurting Fallon pushes her away, leaving Fallon to deal with everything on her own. By the time Kao realises his mistake, is it too late for him to win back Fallon’s love?
This couple because they both went through a horrible experience, and who’s to say whether there is a right or wrong way to deal with the aftermath. But Kao went down in my estimations, even though I could understand his reasoning of his actions, I still really didn’t like how he handled it. I really wanted Fallon to make him work for her forgiveness, and thankfully, she did. I admired her strength throughout the whole ordeal, even if she thought she was weak. I think most women would deal with such an event in very similar ways, but I adored in the end how Kao proved that he loved her for her, not for just her beauty. I think it was such a gorgeous message from Michelle, that real love is not surface level.
Overall, I adored all these characters, although I did have to draw a family tree to remember who everyone was because there was an overload of names at the beginning, but it set up all the future relationships between the offspring nicely. I am still so intrigued by Hana’s story, but the hints of Aria and Forrest next (especially from when Falcon and Mason were talking, wow that’s going to be a great conversation when it happens) have me so excited to see their love story play out next. This series is already so great from the first three books, I can’t wait for the rest of them coming so soon too!
*I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.*
This is the third book in The Heir series. This is Kao and Fallon's story.
This book was one hell of an emotional story. Right from the start you can't help but fall in love with both characters. From the start you know these two are meant to be they have only eyes for each other and when Kao finally asks Fallon on a date tragedy strikes and things change in the blink of an eye and leaves them both with very unexpected consequences some that are more hard to over come than others . From there it is not an easy ride for these two its a heartbreaking one, things get said that should not be said and hearts get broken in the process, it takes them a while to realize that they need to fight for this relationship.
This book takes your heart on a ride, it leaves a lump in your throat that won't leave until the very last page. It was one hell of an emotional heartbreaking ride so make sure you have your tissues ready because you are going to need it. Will the hurt they caused each other be to much to forgive? Will the tragedy end it all? Will their friends be able to knock some sense into both of them? well your going to have to read it and see . Trust me you will not be disappointed.
Defiant Heir (The Heirs series #3) by Michelle Heard
***5 stars***
Oh boy, this was a tough one. Needless to say, Michelle put Kao and Fallon through the physical and emotional wringer of life! Then to torture them some more, she put them on an extra spin cycle.
Fallon has always loved Kao and hopes he reciprocates that love back. Just when she sees her happily ever after in her grasp, tragedy strikes and sends them both reeling into darkness and despair.
Kao acts out, in a way that's far from his usual character, and it pushes the ones he loves the most, in the opposite direction. Fallon's hit the hardest, feeling like she's lost the other half of her heart.
They both have a lot of soul searching and physical healing to do. Can they trust the love they have for each other? Or is it too late to start over?
I actually have no words for this book. It seems with each book in this series, it just breaks my heart more and more.
What Fallen and Kao went through oh my I just couldn’t deal…. I don’t even want to comment on this book as I’m sure once I start talking about it, I will give away to many spoilers.
So all I’m going to say is. Heart broken totally broken. And Definitely so worth the ride. Kao and Fallon will have you reading this whole book in one go from start to finish.
Michelle is one of those authors who freaking shocks you and literally makes you panic and then she puts all the pieces back together again. I don’t know how she will top this story. I am anxiously waiting on the next release ♥
What a story. Defiant Heir is the 3rd book in the Heirs series and this was Kao and Fallon's story. It will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride filled with angst love and redemption and I was hooked from beginning to end. Told in dual POV, this friends to lovers romance was well written and follows Kao and Fallon's relationship, trials and tribulations. Michelle Heard knows how to pull at your heartstrings and she did it so well with this book. I would recommend this novel to lover so contemporary romance.
Michelle started off slow and sweet and in her typical style ripped the rug out from under me. Kao and Fallon’s story was sweet and my goodness filled with so much pride and guilt to work through. It created for an endearing story to follow and get caught up in all the emotions. I feel like Michelle did a great job working through the character's insecurities and doubts in a way that was so easy to relate to.
And I can’t forget to add I love the cameos of the dads and the original trinity crew.
Kao and Fallons story is hands down my favorite of the series! There story was tragic and beautiful all in one. It’s very obvious these two have a thing for one another but when tragedy strikes the aftermath is heart breaking
Kao Reed and Fallon Reyes; devastating, heart-breaking and uplifting
Without a word of a lie, I truly believe that Author Michelle Heard lives to torment her characters and her readers, and she is undoubtedly a master at accomplishing both. Kao and Fallon’s story in Defiant Heir, is the third book in her amazing series, The Heirs, which is the second generation that follows on from The Trinity series. While these can be read as stand-a-lones, I highly recommend that you greatly enhance your reading benefit by possibly starting with the parents. If not, start with book one in this series. Just do it!!!!
What I loved most about this friends-to-lovers book is that both Kao and Fallon were obviously happy and relaxed in their relationship refusing to let others define them. There was no denial of, or requited feelings and certainly no drama, but don’t let that lull you into a false sense of security. You know that won’t make for great reading, and Ms Heard has only just gotten your attention.
We are all in for a world of hurt in this book!
Michelle Heard’s heroes accept far more responsibility than is their fair share. These guys are all similar in their protective natures, but in being young, will make mistakes, so I loved seeing Jace from Arrogant Heir (book two) get in Kao’s face, call him out on his behaviour, and tell him to step up to unreservedly support his girl, just as he himself did. This was a moment of pure gold, and is typical of Ms Heard’s gorgeous young Heroes.
Kao is all in. Even as a young man and fledgling adult, he is all about protection and self-sacrifice and the thought that Fallon got hurt because of him made him feel worthless so he distanced himself from her and wanted her to move on without him. Once he admitted to his friends why he’d pushed Fallon away, then realised how badly she’d been hurt, and his friends made him pull his head out of his backside, he manned up. He couldn’t remember the accident, and blamed himself for her getting hurt.
Wow, what an amazing book. I hit it in one sitting, and sniffled my way through the many highly emotional scenes that Ms Heard set before me, and I’ll tell you every time that it was worth it. 5 Stars 💙
Defiant Heir is unequivocally my favorite in The Heirs series.
Kao is quiet, an introvert, a gentleman to his very core then in the blink of an eye, he becomes the opposite of who he is. Fallon is outgoing, kind, blunt, a pillar of strength to the group of friends.
I fell in love with Kao and Fallon in the very first chapter, the bond they shared and the intensity of their feelings was palpable then in a moment the start of them was shattered by a tragic event.
Kao and Fallon’s story pulls you in immediately with a stranglehold on your emotions. Their pain, inner turmoil, and an array of other emotions the characters experience was exceptionally articulated by the author that their emotions flowed through me as if they were my own.
Following the devastating emotions, you are right there when Kao and Fallon begin again. Fallon and Kao’s bond became even stronger as they shared their fears and dug deeper into the emotional side of their connection. It was remarkably clear that they were soul mates, two halves of one soul.
The dynamics of this group with their unshakable loyalty, unconditional love, witty banter, and unrelenting emotional support they provide one another is another element of this series that will have you hoping that the end of each story doesn’t come.
Defiant Heirs is a consuming, unstoppable emotional roller coaster that destroyed me ultimately piecing me back together with their recovery, Kao’s ability to make me swoon so hard a few tears leaked out.
Defiant Heir is the third book in The Heirs Series by Michelle Heard.
ARC kindly provided by Michelle Heard in exchange for an honest review.
“The woman is be beginning and end.”
I was not ready. NOT READY for Kao and Fallon. This was riveting. This was heartbreaking and put tears in your eyes. Michelle, you have outdone yourself once again. I was not prepared for these two. They absolutely ripped my heart out of my chest and put it back so that is a relief. Phew.
“I want to enjoy every glance, every touch, every step closer to each other before I have to share it with the world.”
Kao and Fallon have always been close because of their parents being business partners. Kao is a sidelines kind of guy that observes everything, not missing anything. Fallon is organized, outgoing, and likes thing in order.
“Fallon is like fine wine. I want to savor every moment with her.”
They have always had feelings for each other. They do everything together and when they finally decided to take the next step to be together, life has a way of showing them that there are a ton of twists and turns because a happily ever after. It was evident that these two are meant for each other.
“That’s because you’re my soulmate.”
This was an overly emotional read. This will make your heart swell, break it, then piece it back together. This was a heart breaking. This was healing. This was absolutely perfection. Michelle, you did wonderfully.
“I can’t be with Fallon. I won’t be able to finish my studies. It’s like someone pressed delete on my life. An agonizing gasp escapes me, and I shake my head, unable to accept that my life has ended. I’m only twenty-three. This can’t be it. This can’t be my future.”
Defiant Heir is a tragically beautiful, heartbreaking story about soul mates, who find one another but are kept apart, by their own doing. Somehow Ms Heard manages to make each release better than the last. I shed my share of tears whilst reading this one, but I also had a few laughs at the banter and I just love the fathers behaviour. It appears they have become closer over the years and really stand united. These characters were born with a silver spoon, but they are still relatable.
Kao and Fallon’s story about two friends who share secret glances. Now the times here to take that brave step into unchartered territory and go on a date. He is her hermit and she is a control freak, but somehow they work perfectly together. Until tragedy rears its ugly head and threatens to tear not only them but their group apart. Drowning in despair, unworthiness and guilt Kao’s inner demons take over and he pushes Fallon away. Everyone is worried about him and rally by his side, leaving Fallon to flounder in her own dark thoughts.
Fallon has been in love with Kao for years and just when they think that they are going to start on their epic love journey together life has other plans for them. Neither one is prepared for what happens and they both carry all kinds of unwarranted guilt on their shoulders and refuses to communicate with the other.
Both Fallon and Kao have to deal with a lot in this book and man does it break my heart with what they have to deal with but it was put back together perfectly. What I love most about this book is that the conflict happens so soon in the book so that I am then going trough their recovery and reconciliation journey with them for the majority of the book and that part isn't rushed into a chapter at the end of a novel. Yes, I was gutted and ripped apart for the first portion of the book but there was so much love and rebuilding on the second half that it was the way it was meant to be. I don't have epic words for Fallon and Kao, but I know that I felt epic feelings for them and I adored every second of their journey even if at times they were breaking my heart along with theirs. The Heirs is turning out to be quite the journey. I can't wait to see where it goes from here.
"Defiant Heir" is book 3 of 'The Heirs" series by the AMAZING Michelle Heard. This is Kao and Fallons book.. Kao Reed is the son of Marcus Reed and Willow Brooks from "Ruthless" (book 4 of the Enemies to Lovers Series) Fallon Reyes is the daughter of Falcon Reyes and Layla Shepard from "Falcon" (book 1 in the Trinity Academy Series)
“I want to enjoy every glance, every touch, every step closer to each other before I have to share it with the world.”
First off.. THIS BOOK BROKE MY HEART!!! but Michelle... you managed to put it all back together..
Kao is a hermit (as Fallon like to refer him to) He prefers to stick to the shadows where as Fallon is the social butterfly and self proclaimed control freak.. She knows what she wants and how she wants things done..
Both have loved each other for ever.. and now they finally have their chance, but when tragedy strikes.. it changes everything.
There were times in this book.. I wanted to reach in and just slap the S**T out of both of them.. but I knew Michelle had a plan..
This is a 2020 MUST READ!! Amazing work as always Michelle.. I Can not wait for what you have in store next for us. <3
Defiant Heir delivered all the feels! 4.5 stars rounding up to 5
I was so happy for Fallon and Kao at the beginning of this book then shock and sadness. I cried tears for everything they went through; it just gutted me. I cried for them, because I felt their pain; that’s the power of this author’s writing. I loved both Fallon and Kao. She was a smart, strong, “neurotic control freak” woman. He was intense, quiet, thoughtful and romantic. Both Kao and Fallon go through so much, but can they find their way back to each other and have a happy ending? All I will say is that I was smiling by the end! Read this book that delivered all the feels and find out for yourself if they find their happy ending, because I definitely recommend this book and series!
*I requested and received an advanced copy of this ebook for my honest review that I am voluntarily leaving.*
Due to the relationship between their parents Fallon has been friends with Kao since they were children however her feelings ran much deeper. Now that they find themselves roommates she hopes that this will be their opportunity to explore their feelings for each other and to see what they could have together.
Kao has always wanted more from Fallon than friendship and it is finally their time. Just when it looks like they are heading toward the future they both want all it takes is one event to destroy everything. He is now determined to shut Fallon out of his life in the most cruelest way possible and it works to perfection but will he realize his mistake before it is too late?
This story takes us on an emotional journey filled with so much angst and pain as these characters will both break your heart and inspire you.
I don’t know how this author keeps popping out these books like I pop skittles lol but I love it. With the previous books in the series, I’ve found some scenes in some books to be lacking in some aspects, but this book is a testament to the authors dedication to her work. I’ve noticed significant improvements in both writing and character development. I did have my doubts in the beginning, but I love when authors can prove me wrong.
This story was, to put it lightly, heartbreaking. Filled with angst, dealing with insecurity and doubt. This book will take you on a journey. It’ll give you insight and perspective into two characters and the way they overcome the obstacles life has put in their path. I loved it. Defiant Heir is currently my favourite in the series and I can’t wait for the rest of the series.
Unbelievable emotional! Defiant Heir will rock your emotions like never before!
Absolutely, whole-heartedly loved this book. Michelle wrote her heart and soul into every word with Kao and Fallon and it speaks true to the reader. The struggles that these two characters face is gut wrenching but the steps they face to take to get back together... it's amazing. Worth mentioning too, the other characters that we fall in love with is right in the thick of it, eager to help their besties. The comedy that Michelle loves to sprinkle within is perfect and balances out the drama throughout her books.
Fallon has been waiting on her best friend Kao to finally ask her out, and finally he did so they're going out when BAM! Yeah a twist out of left field that had an emotional aftermath which saw me trying to jump into the kindle to take everyone out except Hana (another of the crew). From then on, my emotions were all running amok in every direction, and I'm pretty sure that I called everyone and their author (yes that means you Michelle Heard) big time mean names of the colorful metaphor variety since Fallon's pain totally had me ready to throw hands. Defiant Heir is such an emotional journey that I never saw coming so I'm going to keep this review short & sweet so y'all can get to one clicking! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!

Kao and Fallon do get past some hardships, some demons and it is beautiful to watch them come together, letting love heal them. Overall, ‘Defiant Heir’ is a heartwarming friends to lovers romance and the third book in the series. I can't wait to see what comes next. Best friend to lovers. Kao and Fallon have a special bond, finally taking the next step but their life is changed instantly. These two love each other deeply but will they be able to get back to how it used to be? This was heartbreaking, sad, and some parts a little tough to read. You just want these two to finally be with each other but curveballs we’re just being thrown in the way. I love reading Kao’s POV, he is soooo sweet. It can be read as a standalone, but I think it’s so much more special knowing the other characters and all of their friendships from the beginning. Can’t wait for the next story!
