Funny story: Before I started reading, I had to make plans to read more chapters per session than normal, so as to fit this book in with the rest of my schedule.
It was so engaging that I got up to chapter 16, then decided to marathon the entire rest of the book.
Once again, N. Malone has masterfully crafted a dark world of manipulation and deceit, lined with vitriol and fueled by all manners of power struggles. With Etani losing her powers, it's now a race against time for her to get them back.
Awesome action scenes, new, higher-than-ever stakes, fascinating (albeit sometimes disturbing) new characters to meet and places to see and a very, VERY satisfying and fantastic finale make for a dark fantasy experience like no other. If you can stomach the themes of domestic violence and extremely graphic scenes of gore, then this book is a must-buy.

So, where do I start here?
When everything finally goes right, it all goes so very, very wrong.
This is it, the end, the beginning and the pivotal moment of the series. Etani is the key to everything, and just when she learns the true depth of her powers, it's all taken away.
This latest instalment gives you an in depth look into Etani as an individual. It lets you learn what exactly makes her tick, and what makes her tick again. Friends become enemies, enemies become friends and in the end, I'm left desperate for more.
The cliff-hanger at the end of this book is logical and makes sense. But that doesn't change my frustration at not knowing what happens next.
Thank you N. Malone for filling my head with this amazing world you have created.

This was another fantastic installment in this dark adult fantasy series!
I loved the world-building, the sheer imagination, and the character development – it completely transported me to a rich world brimming with both wonder and danger.
The opening was incredibly strong and action-packed, immediately drawing me into the story and keeping me hooked from the first page. I loved the new creatures and magical elements, and the return of familiar ones from previous installments.
With the ending, I definitely look forward to reading next part.
I wholeheartedly recommend this book and the series to anyone who enjoys adult dark fantasy with a strong focus on mythology, magic, and complex character relationships. It's a truly great read.
