Borrowed for Christmas

Rate this book
Having not been home in over two years, the opportunity presents itself for Lennox to do so. Not wanting to still be the girl with no man, she almost backs out from going—that is, until her coworker, Keizer, volunteers as tribute. Immediately shutting him down, Lennox goes about her way. Seeing her sister has some big news, she reluctantly takes Keizer up on his offer. He’d be her borrowed boyfriend for a full seven days. Once back in her hometown, Lennox realizes why she hadn’t been home in forever and instantly wishes she would have stayed away. Keizer is cool with the fake boyfriend role he’s playing, but problems arise when he realizes what is taking place around him. Not being one to keep quiet, he speaks up, some of which causes problems. Lennox realizes maybe Keizer is more than just a borrowed boyfriend, though she fights the urge. What is supposed to be a jolly time, turns out to be much more of a nightmare. Secrets are revealed, and parts of the past that have been buried resurfaces. When the seven days are concluded, will Lennox regret the idea of a borrowed boyfriend, or will it turn out to be the best choice she’s ever made?

When I tell y'all, Borrowed for Christmas was good and messy! This was the quintessential holiday drama times ten. It gives you horrible parents, trashy siblings, and a f*ckboy ex. Chiiiiiiile, the betrayal was real in this book. Lennox has purposely avoided going home for the last two years because, her family is obviously a trigger for her. From their phone call, I figured this was because she had issues with her mama but, I was not prepared for the dysfunctional, disrespectful, bullying, body shaming, toxic, and rude behavior from Carmella and Bailey. They went out of their way to embarrass Lennox in front Keizer every chance they got. But, he was not with the shyts. He gathered Bailey’s backstabbin’ azz all the way together every time she had something slick to say about Lennox. What I didn’t get was Carmella’s weak azz excuse for treating Lennox the way she did. It just was not a good enough reason for a mother to treat her child like that and it definitely wasn’t good enough to be forgiven. I was extremely pissed off when Lennox forgave her mama. Like, how does ten plus years of being bullied and body shamed get erased with a simple “I’m sorry?!!!” And, on top of that, her apology was disingenuous. She only apologized because, Lennox’s daddy threatened to divorce her if she didn’t make things right. So, it makes you wonder, if Irvin hadn’t said anything, would Carmella have continued to treat Lennox like a stepchild? I think so. And, that damn hatin’ azz sister of hers had me ready to pull up and put these hands on her. Bailey was such a mean, vindictive, spiteful, and jealous bytch. That shyt she pulled with Ryan had me hot as fish grease. I was so happy when Lennox finally got fed up with her antics and whooped her azz. But, through all the family drama, a beautiful love story emerged for Lennox and Keizer. He really stepped up and became her protector, friend, and lover. Keizer was exactly what Lennox needed to help bring out her assertiveness so she could finally start putting her mama and sister in their place. I really enjoyed watching them fall in love. The ending was so sweet and heartwarming, I actually cried. Borrowed for Christmas was not a typical holiday love story. It came with all the family drama and I was here for it. I laughed, I cried, and I cursed some people out. Read this book people. You will not be disappointed.

Now, I don’t typically leave detailed reviews but, I had to get some ish off my chest. The mess, the betrayal, the heartbreak. Oh my! Borrowed for Christmas took holiday family drama to the extreme. The mama was trash, the sister was definitely trash, and the daddy was trash for letting Carmella and Bailey treat Lennox the way they did for so long before he finally decided to step in and say something. And, the fact that Lennox forgave her mama simply because she said, “I’m sorry” really pissed me off. Mind you, she only apologized because Lennox’s daddy threatened to divorce her. So, the apology was disingenuous AF. And, if you can forgive Carmella for bullying you your entire life, you might as well forgive Bailey’s triflin’ azz. Borrowed for Christmas was my first read by this author. The book was decent but, wildly unrealistic. Where’s the alternate ending when you need one?

Family can be worse than enemies! I’m so glad Lennox and Keizer found happiness. They both deserved it. This was a really good book that touched on so many things a lot of people go through during the holidays with their so called family. Cherish has done it again!

A beautiful love story!!!

Lennox hasn't been home for Christmas in two years, but after seeing what her sisters posted on social media, she decided to go home, but she also asked her coworker Keizer to go as hr fake boyfriend. Returning home, Lennox wasn't happy to be there and after being her family Keizer saw why. Seeing how Lennox was treated, Keizer stood up for her. Staring to realize how Keizer felt about her, Lennox wanted to give them a try for real. This book was so good. I went through many emotions and when issues were corrected I was so happy they were. Keizer and Lennox was such a beautiful couple and I was happy for them. Please find it in your heart to write an update of them!!!

Glad I only borrowed it

I probably should have DNF’d but I’m nosy. The sister was trash, her momma was trash, forgiving her momma but not her sister was trash, her daddy waiting years to tell her momma and her sister to stop bullying her was trash. Keiser’s secret was horrible and truly made this so much worse. And every thing about what Lennox said, though, and did was a constant contradiction. When I started I thought the worst thing about this was going to be the writing and the incorrect and/or unnecessary usage of words, I was wrong. Xmas in July is off to a terrible start

Cute Christmas Eve read. It was short, messy, and full of drama, but it was still entertaining. Keizer definitely did it for me.

I'll borrow Keizer any day😜...

Queen Cherish, Bay-be I was not ready for this one! From jump I was screaming and cursing and ready to fight, almost threw my tablet.

I could not have been Lennox, like from jump you could tell her family was a trigger but, Lord I want ready for that dysfunctional, disrespectful, self afforded hating ass family of hers. God knew she needed Keizer with his tall chocolate sexy self. She wasn't even his yet and he came in letting her family have it. Her momma, sister and Auntie would've been got them hands, smdh. Especially the sister, cause that disrespectful low down dirty heifer belonged to the streets. She was just scandalous and their momma encouraged the bs. She tried at every turn to get Keizer to take the bait, but he told her I don't want you😂😂😂. Then she got people looking into Keizer past trying to cause more pain😠

Her ex Ryan was just, ugh!

When her dad finally recovered his balls and let her momma have it, I was like yaaasss it's about time. To be a fly on the wall when he let her sister Bailey have it, lol. Lennox say it took daddy telling you that you ain't shit for you to apologize😂😂😂. He loved his family as a while but Lennox held a special place in his heart.

As always I laughed, cried, cursed, fell in love, lol. You won't be disappointed.

A Gift that keeps on Giving

Mrs. Amore your books are like a fine wine just keep getting better as you write them. The old saying that the elders would say at the dining room table, " you put your foot in those greens," which goes for this book. I enjoyed this book, I was curious about what was going to be the next twist in the plot.

Keizer and Lennox's chemistry was off the charts. They may have started as co-workers but they ended as more. I was upset at how Lennox's family was treating her all except Mr. Irvin. My hat went off to him because he did not play about his "angel eyes." I was waiting for Mr. Irvin to say you 'surely don't want those problems' to his wife when he put his foot down. The way Bailey, Carmela, and the aunt treated Lennox I wanted to 'snatch one of them up' and change their thoughts and behaviors.

This was a fantastic read, great job Mrs. Amore. I am looking forward to the next masterpiece you release. If you would like to expand your vocabulary from your norm, Mrs. Amore's books will do just that. The characters she creates will have you using all of those words but that's what's captivating about her books. So once you join the rollercoaster hold on tight, the ride is worth every twist and turn.

When Keizer pulled Lennox away from her hating sister, who is there with Lennox's ex mind you, I thought he had good plans and I was ready for this story to be a hitter. Keizer starts by telling Lennox that he cannot tell her what to do because she is grown....Okayy.... He further points out that Lennox is not standing up for herself..nice!! yes guide her through expectations, please.. But then he goes in telling her that she is standing by and they are playing her like a fool, along with saying that she isn't a kid, he can't keep saving her.

Um, I understand it, but I do not like it. That approach took a turn for me. I was not expecting said turn. Keizer's backstory is sad and I felt for him, except when he reflected on the day he was able to get in touch with his ex. So I'm supposed to feel okay with the way he talked to her and also be happy that he "stepped" away from that by just having proposed to Lennox? I didn't. I will say Lennox's vows to him made me tear up, along with her dad's role in her wedding. I didn't care for Keizer's vows so much.

WHOA 😯! This right here.... I just want more, period.

Lennox and Keizer, wow, what a couple; what dynamics; what chemistry.
This was definitely a nice long waited feel good story from all of the same thing day in day out. You know the though, hardcore, thugs way. This was a wonderful work hard fall in live everyday thing with everyday relatable people that we are all some type of reflection of.
All characters were perfect but I must my fav was Irving and the worst was definitely Bailey, while Carmella had to have a threat issued to her to see the light regarding Lennox. Also I think Keizer is a little bit childish and unfair to Janelle, it’s or was a true accident...
But all said and done, bravo 👏. Definitely will click on recommending this book while I will be reading more of her books...

What a beautifully crafted story...

Although the plot is one that has been written.. This one was uniquely different. In the beginning Lennox seemed to have life figured out, she seemed strong, independent, she was a boss. Keizer was a handsome gentleman who had his eye on Lennox when an opportunity presented itself for him to have her in the most untraditional way. Lennox's family seemed so extreme and puts Lennox in a vulnerable state in front of Keizer. Keizer seems to be just who Lennox needs and a unexpected bond between the two is formed. This a great love story that shows you that holiday's bring out the best in worst in people but you can always count on a love to shine through.

I stayed for the gent

I stayed for Keizer. I give it a 3.5 because the book was an okay read. I wanted Lennox to show up for herself way sooner than she did.

Lennox is weak and insecure up until close to page 100 or so. Then it’s like bam, let me tell you off and you and you but if you have a rebuttal I’m going to cry... The apologies she received were crazy because her family didn’t really own up to their ish enough for me. Her sister was a whole mess. A WHOLE MESS

I read the book off the strength of other reviews. I don’t mind drama but I do not like repetition and that’s what I felt like reading this.

Roller coaster

This was my first time reading anything from this author it was a god read but started out fast with Keizer wanting to be Lennox’a boyfriend for real and pretend but i was angry throughout the book at her at
parents and sister Bailey why did it take so long for her dad to confront her mom about her treatment of Lennox and why did her mom and sister bully her so badly the excuses the mom gave were bs....the things the mom allowed the sister to do were awful but yet she forgave her mother so easily.....it felt like she was at her parents for a month and not just 7 days.....it was a ok read will try more by this Author

This book started off so promising... down bad mmc willing to join on the holiday trip from hell as her fake boyfriend just to spend time with her. However the FMCs continuous self sabotaging and self esteem issues bothered me to no end. Granted her actions are warranted because of the toxicity that is her family, I just could not sit and read it any longer. Especially when Kaiser has shown time and time again that he is there for you.... just leave the house already.

I refused to learn what the big secret Kaiser was holding because I can't afford to see him in a negative light. I'm choosing me!

Whew lawd! You have done it again! I am dubbing you the queen of messy dramas honey! Where do all these hatin' ass family members come from? Damn! Had me frowned up, ready to fight for Lennox! I felt that Keizer was a good dude from the beginning, but when he stepped up to help Lennox out and stood up for her, it was confirmed. He was just what she needed to help bring out her assertiveness, and get those bullies off her back! Keizer's backstory was heartbreaking, and it made you love him more. I so enjoyed these two together, and they both were deserving of the love given by the other. Great read! 👍👍👍

Faith it till you make it!

Kaiser knew from the moment he first saw Lennox that he was attracted to her and wanted to be a part of her life. So when she was forced to except a seven day Christmas observance with her estranged family and needed to show up with a “boy friend” Kaiser was quick to offer up his services Against her better judgment Lennox accepted his offer. All I can say is even though I thought I knew what would happen this story had many surprising twist and turns. It’s an enjoyable read

Borrowed 🎄

This was my favorite holiday read thus far! I look forward to what this author has in store for 2021! Lennox was such a sweet and bright 🌟 it was shameful how her own family put her down. Enters in Kaizer who’s own personal gripes with his family made him seemingly designed for her. I can’t believe how long the hate towards Lennox was allowed to stand with her and her father being so close. Great great read!

Borrowed to Forever Yours

I liked reading this book. There was drama at every turn which annoyed me with Lennox not standing up for herself sooner. Her fake turned real boo was amazing. He is a real book bae and that’s what kept me wanting to read.

SN: The family drama somewhat over shadowed the book(it’s mentioned in the beginning for readers to be aware of) and I wished that it was updated with the wedding taking place this year.

Loved it! ❤️

Keizer is baeeeeeeee. He was such a protector and didn’t want nobody coming for his boo Lennox. Whew child Lennox mother and sister were something else and I wanted to chop kick them in the neck a couple of times. The love between Keizer and Lennox was beautiful and I’m glad they made it through. I highly recommend this book you won’t be disappointed. Cherish always come through with the bangers and I can’t wait for the next book!

I need a fake one

I really enjoyed this story. A nice quick read on this snowy day allowing us to reflect on life. I love how he was always a protector from minute one he assumed the position and did not have a problem with it. I love how their love healed not only their hearts but the hearts of her family. And how her love for him freedom. Such a tragic story of him losing his daughter I felt that in my own heart.

All I can say is...Lennox was better than me because I never would have gone home. Those parents were too much for my nerves. Carmella should be ashamed of herself and Irvin just sat by (evidently for years) and just watched his wife and his other daughter tear the other one down.

Kiezer and his treatment of his first wife was too much too; it was an accident and I know understand his hurt. Ryan and Bailey was deserving of SOOOOOOO much more than they received--tuh!!!

Lennox has not been home for Christmas in two years. Lennox viewed her sisters post on social media and she decided to go home for Christmas. Lennox did not want to go home without having a boyfriend to take with her. Lennox asked her coworker to be her fake boyfriend and go home with her for Christmas. Lennox was not happy to be home, because the way her mother and sister treated her. Keizer stood up for Lennox. Lennox little sister was dating her ex-boyfriend and he proposed to her. Lennox and Keizer started out fake but decided to give the relationship and real try. Awesome book.

Great book!

This book takes you on a bumpy rollercoaster ride. Jealousy in a family of misfits is never a good thing. However finding a love that can help you see more than the craziness is the best remedy. Despised the mom and sister. Semi-hated the dad for a while, but git the HEA .

Emotional, but also beautiful!

This was my favorite Christmas story thus far this season. It had a bit of everything, and was certainly a tear jerker. Kudos to Ms. Amore for not forcing emotions and actions when it came to Lennox, and family forgiveness! And for creating a hero that I'd gladly borrow anytime!

My first read by this author and it won’t be my last time had me crying and smiling at the same time. I HATE Lennox mom and sister, I’m sorry both of them could of gone to hell. But I also love how Keizer stood up for her as he did, just hated that he kept that secret as long as he did. But overall a great book

Borrowed for Christmas

With family like Lennox had who needs enemies? I disliked Carmella , Bailey and Ryan from their introductions. Keizer was an upstanding guy that did what he had to do to get the woman he wanted and it worked. Even with all the issues in between, they were able to overcome. Once the truth regarding his back story was told, it made you like him even more.
