Welcome to the Dollhouse, where devils rule. I used to be a good girl. I did everything right. But then I came home and found my boyfriend in bed with my sister, so I left, eventually finding myself at the Dollhouse—a strip club. No good girl would be caught dead at the Dollhouse, but like I said, that was the old me. The new me? The new me likes it dirty. Likes it rough. I like being put on display and watched… and he likes watching. He will do anything to take me as his own and make me his in every sick way possible. He wants to own me. To control me. Roman is a devil in a suit, the kind of dangerous man who can bend anyone to his will. Together, with his partner in crime, Carter, he dominates me the moment we meet. But I still have a mind of my own, my own wants and desires that include a sweet, kind, and dangerously cute neighbor of mine. If Roman wants to keep me, he’ll either have to cage me or bow to me once in a while. Even devils can break. Voyeur is a dark RH/Why Choose romance, recommended 18+. It is a standalone novel full of graphic sex scenes and a bit of violence.
Hey guys! I'm a writer, an office worker, a wife, a mother to two dogs and two cats, and half of a strange pair of young adults who flip the houses they're living in with the goal of having no mortgage (so that I can eventually focus on my writing career!). Needless to say, I'm busy.
Still, I somehow find time to write, to read, and to enjoy life. Wish there were more hours in the day, really!
If you're active on Goodreads and have similar interests, friend me. I don't bite. Or if you'd rather follow my reviews, you can do that, too.
I liked the premise a lot, but I don't think the author was able to achieve the vibe she was going for.
It felt like a little girl dressing up in her mom's clothes. It tried too hard to be dark and gritty, always missing the mark. There were a lot of repeat sentiments that quickly grew tiresome.
Sorry, but "there's just something about her" doesn't cut if if you expect me to believe some guy who's a mob enforcer would suddenly fixate on a girl who ran away from home because her boyfriend cheated on her. That whole situation that apparently made Zoey so dead inside she caught the eye of a mob enforcer was just kind of dumb. I would have liked some real trauma, not a barely believable story about how her family acted. Not saying that stuff doesn't happen, but it just felt random and pointless.
I'm sure some people will be satisfied with this book, but it's hard to appreciate it when I've read similar books that were done much more masterfully.
I thought this was an ok read. I wouldn't classify this as romance in any way. The characters didn't have that emotional connection for it. It was just a "mob boss" obsessing over a girl and then having one of his underlings have sex with her as well. The end with the ex was absolutely unnecessary and contributed to my rating. The book also abruptly stops, there is no talk about there being a continuation so it doesn't even end in a HFN talk less HEA, it just stops.
2 stars Meh... This was honestly just an erotica novel. There was no romance whatsoever, just Roman coming in like a caveman and dragging her out by the hair (nothing wrong with that just not what I wanted). He came in and messed with her work and her friendships which is just not okay but even overlooking this I still don’t like it.
I also did not understand how she got to the mental stage she did. Getting cheated on is hard especially with family but that should not have made you become a stripper who is “dating” a member of the mob.
My final problem with this book was her ex boyfriend (can’t remember his name) coming back and getting MURDERED by Roman. Again, cheating is terrible but you’re just going to let him get murdered?
Overall this wasn’t the worst book I have ever read, but I probably won’t go back to it.

This book was dirty in the best way possible! It had everything I wanted and more. The scenes were 🔥🔥, the men were possessive, and the h did what she wanted without caring what any1 thought. This was a simple read and I appreciated that. I wasn't expecting anything too emotionally deep.
The only issue I had was some things were repetitive. I was tired of hearing about the ex and sister. But other than that, this book was exactly what I expected from it. Will definitely be reading more from this author.
"Men liked their women in lingerie, while women liked their men in suits—or at the very least in a button-up shirt with its sleeves rolled up to the elbows." --- 100% TRUTH.
I was really excited for this book and I’m really sad that it fell flat for me.
The book started off promising, Zoey runs away from home due to her douchebag ex, ends up working at the Dollhouse which is a strip club. She meets Roman and his right hand man Carter there and that’s where things went south which kills me because that’s when things should’ve got exciting.
Roman was controlling and possessive, everything I normally love in a hero. He gets off on watching Carter have sex with Zoey. But then all of a sudden her neighbour gets thrown into the mix and nothing made sense for me. The ending also left me really unsatisfied.
Things I loved about the book was how much of a bad ass Zoey was. Even when she was looking into the eyes of a killer she still gave him shit.
I’m really sad that this book wasn’t for me because I’ve loved Candace’s previous books.
Spoiled little rich girl gets cheated on and runs away from the life she's used to, right into the arms of a pair of dangerous men.
Zoey "ran away" from home despite being an adult. So really she just left over a pretty petty thing. I felt that her leaving home was a contrived excuse to get her to go to this seedy club that her family would not approve of. The reasoning made me feel like she was a spoiled brat. She basically torpedoed her own life because she got her feelings hurt. Yeah it sucks, but that self pity is not attractive.
So, there's a number problems here. My main complaint is that this is marketed and stated repeatedly to have taken place in a strip club. But really its more like a topless bar or a bar with a burlesque stage... or something. There is a pole on the stage but the dancers don't strip necessarily. There are no lapdances and its topless only and only if the dancers decide to take clothes off which Zoey doesn't. The author seemed to shy away from many aspects of a strip club to the point that it felt intentional. As if the author felt like Zoey was too good to take her clothes off or that it was too dirty. It kinda felt insulting to strippers in a way.
Additionally, there was an immense number of repetitious statements. I should have tallied the number of time that we were told about her pink hair, pink shoes, that her ex cheated on her. There is a point where it is just beating a dead horse. I think we are long past that on many points.
The end is also a little rediculous and over the top. I won't spoil it but seems like a number of things are contrived, don't feel natural, and are excessive over reactions.
The editing was ok with a few minor errors. Secessions =/= consessions. thats a different word and not interchangable.
The steam was pretty hot and there was quite a lot of it but the plot was not great. The characters were not great and Zoey was not super likable or relatable for me.
There was no chemistry between the characters and it didn't hold my interest plot wise.
In my opinion, there was not much plot in this book. Or it could be that i didn't read enough to let it build ......but i read 30%. It wasn't believable. All in all, it wasn't for me.
I thought this story had a lot of potential, but it ended up falling flat for me. The main issue I think was the character development, or lack thereof. I needed to see more of Roman's life outside of the Dollhouse in order to really feel how dangerous he was supposed to be. Zoey caught her high-school boyfriend cheating on her with her sister, and that was supposed to be traumatic enough for her to disavow her entire family, cut up her bank cards and move "a state away" to become a stripper with a vacant and hollow look in her eyes 🙄

This could have been a good story. But missed it’s mark. It tried too hard to be dark and gritty. There were a lot of repeat sentiments that quickly grew tiresome. I don't think the author was able to achieve the vibe she was going for.
Not to mention he hated her pink hair, her pink sneakers, her attitude, …What does he like about her?! I would have liked some real trauma, not a barely believable story about how her family acted. Not saying that stuff doesn't happen, but it just felt random and pointless and not that crazy to cause a girl to run from home and start stripping.
I'm sure some people will be satisfied with this book, but it's hard to appreciate it when I've read similar books that were done much better.
Ms. Wondrak has been teasing her fans with this book for awhile, and it was worth the wait!
As is usual for her books, it is very well written and edited. Candace is fantastic at writing as her character; it helps bring them to life and make them feel more real. And there is some connections with her Hillcrest University series, which was nice to see.
I liked Zoey's character. Although she could be a little bratty sometimes, she stood up for herself...I liked that she wasn't a doormat. Roman is 🔥🔥🔥! It wasn't quite as dark as some of her other books, but more of a grey than black.
I was though, left wanting a little more. The end came on a little quickly (but we do discover that there will be a spin-off series...so hopefully these characters will make some cameo appearances.) I would have loved to have seen some sort of showdown with Zoey's sister and parents. And I really want to know what the tattoo was on her side!
Those small niggles aside, I did very much enjoy the book, and couldn't put it down. Can't wait for the next book! 🖤
I would like to say that this has somehow left me speechless. I don't read much dark erotica, but the blurb had me intrigued, and what a story it was. The multiple POV allows you to get a sense of each character involved in the story and it is done seamlessly. The story was sizzling hot and kept me enthralled from beginning to end. I sailed through it in a few hours. Warning: This read is not for the faint of heart, but if you're willing to let yourself be consumed by the blazing fiery pages of Voyeur, do so. The story won't disappoint.
Hot, dirty, delicious.... But fell a little flat for me. It's a standalone with HFN ending. If you're looking for a well-written quick hot read, I'd give this a try.
I enjoyed that the main characters own their choices and are unapologetic. Add in that two are sex-in-suits deliciously dangerous man candy, and I'm happy to see where this goes. It gets hot fast, the characters inexplicably drawn to each other, and it's sexplosive 🌋🔥🔥🔥
While the sex scenes were pretty hot, I never felt like I got to know or feel for the characters or feel any build up for their relationships. They're horny and insatiable for each other (each guy and Zoey), but don't really get much else. Roman says that he wants to own her completely, more than her body, her mind, heart and soul too. But their interactions are one thing.
On the dark scale, this is more of a light gray read - physical violence but not graphic. I found myself craving a POV of Roman out on a job. It's OK. Not every book needs to sate the blood thirst my black reader's heart craves at times. This was like getting muted versions of psycho Hs. Well, muting the dark, while full spotlight on the pleasure kink 😏
The FMC, Zoey, has severed ties with her old life and has taken great pains to transform her look while rediscovering herself, the person she wants to be... The one thing she knows is that she does not want to be controlled by anyone, except for when and how she wants. I'm not a big fan of the bratty persona, but I chalk it up to a kink and roll with it. I didn't mind Zoey's "f** it" attitude one bit. I did want to know more about her tattoo, as it's mentioned often but lacks any description. I did want to know more about Zoey beyond her looks and turn ons too, but the story takes place over a short window of time, so maybe she's still figuring that out for herself.
It did feel repetitive when she'd think of her old life, why she left, and her "f**k it is all" attitude. Like, pretty much word for word, and it got stale without adding anything more to the story or character connection/development. I think there could have been other ways to reinforce Zoey's feelings or outlook on life without being so hyper focused on her disloyal family and her ex's cheating.
I felt confused around the halfway mark... *keeping spoiler-free* And fast forward like 20% and while it's resolved, I didn't feel like there was much of an explanation, and there was definitely no apologies, and I'm just left with the characters are just moving on so I guess that's that.
While this is certainly a "why choose" story, with the heroine not choosing between the male love interests, it doesn't really feel like a RH story. It's more of a story of an incredibly dominant, controlling alphahole (who I was drooling over, don't get me wrong) who allows Zoey to date and sleep with two other men... Preferably as he watches them seeking pleasure with her, as voyeurism is his kink. Though "dating" is really just with the one guy who feels very third wheel to this poly relationship, even though his adorkable sweetness and normalcy are traits Zoey craves in addition to the dangerous men who also call to her. Idk, Roman just reluctantly accepts it cause it's what Zoey wants, and he wants Zoey, and Carter doesn't kill him cause Roman tells him not to.
I'm going to admit I had a hard time reading this book the first time. It's more of me actually being super picky and suffering a huge book slump. But this was our group's book club read that time and I need to read along with the other members.
Same with the other times I read the first part, it was hard for me to connect with the heroine. For me it's a matter of personal preference and nothing to do with the book itself. However, as I read more of the story, I'm gettin used to the heroine's personality and character that I started enjoying the book. The chemistry she has with the guys started to be really there for me about halfway through the story though. I kinda expected that nuance since I cannot fully connect to the heroine at first, hence me not feeling the chemistry of the three together.
What I loved about this book though is that the author doesn't hold back from giving the heroine a back bone and getting herself what she wants with no fcuks to give. I appreciate that so much! The heroine stood up for herself and didn't wait to be rescued by some knight in shining armor. She didn't need that as she's her own hero and that's fantastic! There's just some repetitive thoughts from heroine's POV (spoiler)(re: sister and ex)(/spoiler) but otherwise, it was a good journey for one's character about being independent and finally meeting her match/es. It felt the ending ended abruptly though. But maybe that's because I started to actually enjoy the book kinda late in the story.
I still recommend this book to readers who loves their heroines strong and not someone you can fcuk with and with heroes who are dark and dangerous and gives their heroines a thrill of their life! ❤
A little bit disappointed. It didn't feel like a RH book, more like a Roman's feast with a side of Carter and Lake. Overall, it was too rushed and repetitive.
I feel like this book was something different by this author who mostly goes dark / pitch black in her contemporary romance. With that being said, let me dive into my review.
FMC Zoey was my kind of FMC. I liked her a lot and was able to connect to her character. No surprise for me, because I always find this author doing an excellent job when it comes to character development.
I immediately fell for Roman and his overwhelming presence. He instantly took the center stage and pulled me in. I love it when an author uses the different POV to give us insight in characters and in Roman's case, it was executed masterfully. Roman is honest and unapologetic. He knows what he wants and that is Zoey.
Bit of a disclaimer for some of you who may need it. Roman is NOT a hero in the common sense. His character is very much what I consider dark, an antihero of sorts, and someone you definitely don't want to cross paths with your daughter... Don't confuse fiction with real life, make smart choices in the latter. In fiction anything goes and this is what I love to read. But I digress...
This book has steam aplenty, done in a way that it doesn't feel overwhelming. I loved the scenes with Roman and Carter. Hell, Carter is in a league of his own and together with Roman, he's a force to be reckoned with. Their dark however is balanced out perfectly with Lake's character. Lake is made of boyfriend material. He's sweet, honourable, a bit timid, kind of a nerd. The perfect boy next door in every sense of the word giving me all the warm and fuzzy feelings. The contrast that his character offers to Roman and Carter is also what pulls Zoey to him.
Voyeur is a book that mostly focuses on how the relationship develops between these characters and is interlaced with Zoey's background story as she deals with her past.
Not to forget that this book is an introduction to another series set in this universe. No need to worry though, this book is a standalone and reads as such. Your interest however will definitely be piqued and it left me craving for more!
Roman Russo is every girls wet dream I swear to hell!
This author always writes characters I fall in love with, but Roman is something else. He is dark, dirty, and absolutely amazing. Lake and Carter are freaking amazing as well. Lake is the yin to Carter and Roman’s yang.
Zoey, well she is exactly the type of FMC I love. She is smart, snarky, and doesn’t take crap from anyone!
The sexy scenes are fire and well written. When I say they are fire I mean FIRE! You absolutely need a cold shower!
Here is hoping Roman shows up in other series because I can not get enough of him!
Wow wow wow wow wow omg what a book. I can tell you this book took me on one hell of a wicked ride. With such strong characters especially in the guys Roman, Carter and Lake. Zoey is an amazing strong character all on her own in so many ways, and throughout this book we see her go through so much with Roman and Carter behind the wheel of her life. To create such a powerful steamy read that you will not be able to put down. Plus with that ending linking to another book, your going to be glad you picked it up
This reads like delusional, adolescent-teen, erotica fan-fiction, and it’s bad. The utter and overwhelming privilege of the fmc is barf-worthy. She’s a 2-dimensional, spoiled brat from a super wealthy family. She decides to melodramatically run away from home after she finds her boyfriend cheating on her with her little sister and her parents knew about it. It’s apparently so earth-shattering to be cheated on at 19 (with her boyfriend Bryan whom she calls vanilla and boring, mind you) that she drops out of college, dyes her hair pink (*gasps*), and wait for it…she gets a tattoo on her side (*double gasps*).
Then, with even more disgusting privilege, she decides to get a job at a strip club without knowing she was agreeing to become a stripper. I’m all for supporting sex-workers, but this ain’t it. This is a gross, outdated storyline trope of a ‘good girl’ falling from grace and becoming a ‘bad girl’ stripper. It’s incredibly stereotyped and uneducated.
Also, it’s worth pointing out that the fmc literally just says yes to a random job offer without even asking what the job is. Then she apparently revels in the fact that it was at a strip club—just because she knows it will upset mommy and daddy. She decides to cut up all her debit cards (so hardcore) and move into what princess considers to be the slums. She has no life, no friends, no hobbies, no interests. Nothing. All she does is sit in her studio doing literally nothing, or she’s at work. And when she’s at work? Hooboy, buckle up for this treat. She only strips a few times, and doesn’t actually strip because she never takes her clothes off (um, okay), and then she gives all her tips away because she just wants to “strip” to be a rebel. Yeah. You read that right. She’s not stripping for the money, she’s stripping to be a rebel.
If I had to hear one more time about “Bryan and Willow and my parents! I hate them! Wah! Life is so terrible and hard!” I was going to scream. It’s literally every other paragraph, for hundreds of pages. She’s an awful character. I couldn’t have cared less if she ended up in a ditch, that’s how invested in her I was.
All privilege and brattiness aside, the fmc also just doesn’t make any sense (and don’t even get me started on the ridiculous love interests). The fmc talks endlessly about how she’s completely dead inside, a zombie who feels absolutely nothing in life anymore, all because because her 19 year old vanilla boyfriend cheated on her. Oh the heartache! Such devastation. How ever will princess survive?
This book is all over the map. It reads like an out-of-touch and privileged teenager grabbed random story plot ideas from an online plot generator, then put this “story” together in her diary with her glitter gel pens. It’s like that. I don’t recommend.
You never know when that exact moment that will change your life will be.. for Zoey the shock of walking in on her boyfriend sleeping with her sister was the wake up call that made her bolt .. she dyed her hair, got a tattoo, and started dressing for herself.. she also got a job at the Dollhouse. I loved Zoey , her determination and Will was seriously impressive to me...I couldn’t imagine giving up my perfect life in the rich for “ the struggle is real” life dingy apartment.. she decided to live for herself and the first night she’s to work she meets two men ,who will ultimately change her life.. she has huge balls and it’s impressive how determined she is to stand on her own two feet.. Roman , the killer for hire likes to watch but even he can’t resist diving in Zoey.. Carter, he doesn’t want to like Zoey but he doesn’t resist too hard I mean after all he’s ordered to and doesn’t seem to mind that part of his job.. Lake, Ah Lake .. he’s the lovable geek that is so damn adorable. .. I can’t say anymore but it’s three love interest so that means it’s Rh and it’s definitely worth the read.. I really enjoyed it ..
Almost 5 stars but it left everything up in the air! I also really didn’t like the Luke character part of the story. Just didn’t work for me. Roman has got his kink on for sure! He makes watching truly an art! Darn there is some hot stuff in here! Roman is a total control freak for sure. It’s hard to believe he likes to watch and share her. If you look at it as he controls all parts even who she f@cks, you can believe that part, but hard for me. I needed more at the end.
I always know I going to thoroughly enjoy every book Candace writes and this one was no different! In terms of darkness I would say it’s not a dark as some others but it doesn’t take away from the story, it’s amazing as always! I really loved the relationship and chemistry between Zoey, Roman, and Carter. I had hoped to get more backstory and details regarding her past and a little more closure on that, but otherwise this book was everything I dreamed it would be!
The book ends almost on a cliffhanger which makes me thing Candace will be continuing this story down the road. This story was one of someone realizing how they grew up isn't always who they were meant to be. Zoey learned so much about herself and what she liked and what she could and could not handle!
This book is HOT, if you have a voyeur kink or not. The words they whispered in my head had me bursting in flames. The details created such amazingly realistic moments that had me panting for more. The progression of the story kept me guessing. Their struggle was so much fun to watch! Entertaining and steamy.
This is a bit different because the main guy likes to watch which automatically adds another person into the mix. This gets heated pretty quickly and is hard to put down. I'm interested to read the spin off series coming this year.
