Olivia Hesson finds herself in a world of family secrets, new loves, and historic buildings -- all because of her great-aunt's will.
When her great-aunt passes away, she names Olivia the sole owner of one of the oldest historic buildings in Edgartown, with one demand—she must return it to its former glory.
This is a lot to swallow.
Like the other Sisters of Edgartown, Olivia hasn't had an easy road. She married her high school sweetheart, Tyler, and had a child, Chelsea, but found herself living out a nightmare of separation and divorce when Tyler fled the Vineyard for a better life in Boston.
Since then, she's worked as the English & Creative Writing teacher at the local high school. Olivia has tried her best to manage her teenage daughter, Chelsea, who is angry and resents her for her father leaving.
Her inheritance—old historic building is rife with secrets. It creaks and sighs with long-forgotten stories. And it captures Olivia's fascination in a way that surprises her.
Of course, the maintenance man who lives there surprises her, too.
This is book two of the Sisters of Edgartown a new women’s fiction series that contains a heartwarming journey of friendship, loss, and love, and one that will make you fall in love with the people of Edgartown and want the next book.
Katie writes women's fiction and clean, wholesome contemporary romance. She looks to everyday, real-life family issues to weave stories of heartfelt emotions, love and loss, and everything in between.
Come transport yourself to Martha's Vineyard: an island of vivid blue ocean, white sand, and a lively community of locals, who celebrate everything from the bright New England summers to the cold, yet cozy, snowcapped winters.
289 Captain’s Walk: Sisters of Edgartown Book 2 is by Katie Winters. This second book seems to be better than the first one which is unusual for a series. However, I love the series and am glad I don’t have to wait to start the next book. This book is about Olive and her daughter Chelsea. Olive had known Tyler for a long time and had a crush on him for a long time. It was Michelle who finally pushed Olive into talking to Tyler one day after school. She walked up to him when he was talking to another football player and waited until he noticed her. After exchanging pleasantries, she told him she was talking a walk on the beach that night and asked if he wanted to join her. To her surprise, he did. She finally had his attention and a date with Tyler! That evening, dressed in a pretty summer dress, she waited for him on the beach. All the time she imagined he would not show up; but he did. After walking a short time on the beach, it started raining. They took shelter in an old deserted building. She was totally surprised when they got in the building. It was gorgeous, even dusty and run down. It was a mansion! It was even furnished, at least partially. Olive was immediately taken with the history of the building. They went from room to room and she got bolder, knowing Tyler was looking for a place for them to make love. Finally, they opened the last door to a room overlooking the ocean. There, next to the window, was a young man and an older woman. Were they ghosts? Was the house haunted? At first, Olive thought so; but quickly realized it wasn’t. The people were real. The woman quickly took a sweater from a chair and threw it over her shoulders and approached Olive. Olive stepped back in horror. The woman was her Great-Aunt Marcia! This memory ran through Olive’s mind as she followed her Dad, brother, and sister into the lawyer’s office where Great-Aunt Marcia’s will be read. Such a long time had passed since she met her Great-aunt in the mansion. Olive and Tyler had married and had a daughter. Chelsea was now nineteen and Tyler had divorced Olive years ago and was living in Boston with a young girl. Olive had stayed on Martha’s Vineyard and taught school as she raised her daughter without Tyler in the picture. To think it had all started that night in the mansion where she ran into Great-aunt Marcia.

Do Olivia and Anthony have a future. Will the locate a hidden treasure
Thank you to the author for an ARC. This is my honest opinion.
The second "sister" in Katie Winters' Edgartown series is Olivia. A forty-year-old divorcée with a challenging daughter, Olivia's life changes when her great aunt Marcia leaves her a historical building in her will. The inheritance comes with "handyman" Anthony, who also has had a difficult life. The connection between Anthony and Olivia and the old house is remarkable. Despite age and circumstances, one still can find love. Also prominent in the book is the support of the other "sisters". I simply loved the story and the characters !
In book 2 we meet Olivia, high school teacher & single mom. Olivia inherited an island mansion when he great Aunt dies, that is in need of restoration.
Enter Anthony, a handyman, full of secrets. As they lovingly restore the mansion, their friendship grows.
This story is entertained with excellent story lines, between friends, Olivia’s daughter and a student if Olivia’s.
Oh my goodness! What a delightful series. Katie Winters certainly knows how to spin a tale! The storyline is amazing. The characters are fully developed and so real—you actually feel like you’re part of story. Plot twists and turns keep you on the edge of your seat, while the road to the HEA is amazing. This one definitely belongs on your TBR list! (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and thoroughly enjoyed it.) ❤️❤️
I always enjoy a visit in Edgartown and I love learning about the sisters. This one is no different. Olivia is the star of this one, and she sure manages to keep us reading! For a quick, can't put down read, pick this one up and get started. Happy Reading.
Take a walk through the love story of Olivia and Anthony. Filled with family, conflict, mystery and of course a HEA. Both healing from past hurts and navigating the teenage angst, while trying to restore a wonderful historic mansion. Try this book for a great page turning adventure. I received this arc for an honest review.
This is the 2nd sister in the sisters of Edgartown by Katie Winters. Olivia has had a tough time, but an old mansion, a cute stranger handyman, and her sisters and daughter made a great story. Have really liked these books and can’t wait for the next book! I received a free ARC for an honest review.
289 Captain’s Walk is about lifelong friends who grew up on Edgartown and are now all middle age, some divorced and some with teenagers. They are now trying to navigate these years together. Lovely story with very likeable characters.
Another great story in the Sisters of Edgartown Series. I love how we are meeting each friend in depth as they maneuver through their forties. Their lives have changed over the years with many challenges and losses but their friendships are still strong and sustainable.
Just finished reading 289 Captain's Walk. I loved Olivia's story. The friendship of the sisters continues. They are there for Olivia in her time of need and for each other. Anthony is hleping to rebuild the old mansion left to Olivia. Does Olivia have a second chance at love? You will have to read this fantastic second book in the Sisters of Edgartown series. Katie Winters another great book. It is onto 37 Peases Point Way and Amelia's story. Thank you once again, Katie.
Took me roughly a month because of school. But I like the plot a lot. This series so far has been really good. I think the storyline is a bit similar o the first book which tell Jennifer’s story but this book is shorter in my opinion. But overall really good book. Clean romance which I’m always a fan of but mostly fantasy. I can really picture the story flow in my head which is great!
Olivia could not believe it when her great Aunt left her this beautiful mansion and she had already found the good looking handy man to put it back together so she could open a B and B. Would life finally turn het way? Read and see.
I was hooked from page one . This book has it all teenagers with their ups and downs , family trying to get what's not there's and a blooming relationship . Highly recommend
Time lost can be cruel on all of us for different reasons. Missing a loved one no longer here or just because they are not within reaching distance. Take time to show your loved ones how much they mean to you.
