Old Man Hawkeye: The Complete Collection collects issues 1-12 of the Marvel Comics series written by Ethan Sacks with art by Marco Checchetto, Ibraim Roberson, and Francesco Mobili.

Set 45 years in the future (and 5 years before the events of Old Man Logan), the US is a dystopian wasteland broken up into multiple territories, each ruled over by various super villains. Clint Barton sets on a quest of revenge against the Thunderbolts who betrayed the Avengers so many years ago. Clint is slowly going blind but will he be able to complete his mission before Bullseye can catch up to him?

While not quite as original, epic, or as good as Old Man Logan, OMH is still a highly entertaining read. Many of Hawkeye’s reoccurring characters make appearances either in flashbacks or the story’s present day while also adding in some villains who you wouldn’t normally see battling Hawkeye. The book sets up a lot of the events and themes that will late appear in Old Man Logan while also telling its own story. The art is strong throughout the book and does a great job of capturing all of the action. One complaint that I have is that the environments all the look the same. The US Wasteland is just all rugged desert terrain (even across multiple states) and Canada is all snowy woodlands. A little diversification would helped in the scenery department.

THIS. WAS. SO. COOL! Like coolest of the cool actually!
This is a tale of vengeance taking place in a post-apocaliptic/dystopian world were all the heroes (or almost all of them...) are dead at the hands of their enemies, and chaos and violence are running free in the Wastelands.
I'm not a fan of the cinematic version of Hawkeye tbh, but I find his comic incarnation to be much more bereable, and in particular with this old version he is, well, guess what... COOL!
The reason why I picked up this book is for Checchetto's art (man, I love his art, I wish I was as good as him at drawing a beard, really!)(there are other artists taking turns on this serie, btw, and they are really good too!), but in the end the story itself, the action sequences and the bloody gruesomeness of everything really won my heart (I'm a simple girl, I just want super people fighting to death... once in a while, at least. Oh, and also superpeople with cats, but that's for another story). I can even turn a blind eye on the clintasha stuff and fully appreciate the story! I'm not giving the 5 stars only 'cause I found the last two issues to wrap everything in a bit of a hurry. Basically, I wanted more.
Anyway, in case I didn't say that before, yes, this is still extremely COOL!

That was good 4.5 stars at least. The story was better than I remembered from reading the single issues. I hope someone is tracking the bad guys and good guys getting knocked off in the Old Man continuity. Even though I enjoyed this limited series some of it felt like filler. We did not need to actually see the end of the Averngers Team Hawkeye as it was kind of dumb.
Anyway, this was a good story told in the tradition of a revenge western. Guy tracks down all the people who killed his friends and his lover. Good Stuff.

Este comic nos presenta una historia que está ambientada en el mismo universo que Old Man Logan, es bastante violenta a comparación con ls otras entregas de Hawkeye y el protagonista está perdiendo la vista. Hawkeye pelea contra Bullseye en varias ocaciones (me pareció un buen antagonista) y con varios villanos más, como: Red Skull, Taskmaster, Zemo, y los Thunderbolts (quienes traicionaron a los Avengers) y Hawkeye va matando uno por uno a los últimos mencionados, para así vengarse de la traición y posterior muerte de varios de los Avengers.

No se ve la representada personalidad de Clint Barton, en ocaciones quizás, pero lo vemos cegado por la venganza y la ira que lleva sintiendo durante casi 45 años.

En un momento se encuentra con Kate Bishop y siguen juntos hasta el final, pero la vemos cambiada, ya no usa el nombre de Kate y en un principio se niega a ayudar a Clint, pero luego accede.

Al final, podemos ver a Clint siendo capturado por unos monjes y llama a alguien “Stick” pero luego nos damos cuenta que es Matt Murdock. A quien Hawkeye visita ya que un año antes (según la historia) queda completamente ciego.

Old Man Logan came out years ago and was received very well as an alternate future where the bad guys won and Logan was an aging once hero just trying to stay out of the spotlight with his family. It was super popular but didn't have much in the way of sequels or prequels for ages (a little surprising considering how popular it was).

Marvel decided to remedy this lack and this book follows Old Man Hawkeye, another low power tier hero who managed to survive. We see what happened to some of the heroes we didn't see defeated in the original mini-series and how Hawkeye handled things then and in some of the following years.

Overall, I really enjoyed this and would read more in the this world especially if the writing/art stays near this quality. If this is released in an oversized hardcover I would likely upgrade from the paperback.

A little more bloody than I prefer my comics. I was going to say more violent but superheroes tend to be pretty violent even if usually they’re not killing people as much as this book involves. There were some fun flashes of Clint’s personality and relationships mixed in there, but mostly it was a lot of revenge and murder. I was a little loss since I haven’t read Old Man Logan and even though this is a prequel it didn’t really explain the situation the world seemed to be in with no heroes and villains ruling the world apparently. I’m not sure how less than 50 years turned the world into the Wild West (with dinosaurs?), villains doing some climate change as well?

I enjoyed this Mad Max-meets-Marvel mashup quite a bit. Set in the same universe as Old Man Logan, but some years before the events of that series, this one follows an aging Hawkeye as he sets out for revenge on his old Thunderbolts teammates for their part in an ambush that killed several of the last remaining Avengers, including Clint's love, Natasha. The artwork throughout is strong and even though the story is a bit goofy (Deathlok-Bullseye? Venom fused with Madrox? etc.), it was fun and kept me reading.

Yet another strong adventure in the dystopia Marvel kicked off with Old Man Logan. This revenge tale follows Hawkeye in an adventure that provides more answers in this self contained universe while still leaving enough mystery to let your imagination run wild. The strengths of this prequel lie in the seeds it sows for Old Man Logan, however, it never reaches the same level of danger or shock, given its nature as a prequel. Despite this, Old Man Hawkeye is definitely worth a read and we can only hope to see it adapted for a movie ten years from now, perhaps staring a gruff Brad Pitt.

Приквел к Старику Логану получился точно не хуже, а может даже поинтереснее оригинальной серии. Стремительно теряющий зрение лучник напоследок решает отомстить бывшим соратникам, которые в свое время предали его и других героев и помогли мировому порядку пасть. Страдают от этого крестового похода в первую очередь, разумеется, все окружающие. Попутно узнаем ориджин стори ценного груза из "Старика Логана". Из Старика Меченного вышел совершенно шикарный главгад, ну и любимая Кейт Бишоп, как водится, приходит на выручку коллеге Хокаю. 3,5 звезды.

While not as well-written or exciting as Millars first volume which introduced the washed up Hawkeye, this collection sets up a nonetheless interesting prequel which explores a corner of this universe we haven’t yet seen as well as putting the plot in motion for what will become the events of Logan. I love Hawkeye and this interpretation of him will always be a favorite of mine.

There are only a very small few 5-star comic series. This is one of them. Great character choices to populate this world. Great heroic moments. Wonderful twists. Fun characterizations and dialogue. Way more than I expected this to be.

This is an absolute masterpiece of a story and a fantastic spin off to one of Marvels greatest stories of all time. If you haven't read Old Man Logan before, read this first, it gives much context that will help when reading Old Man Logans core story by Mark Miller! I highly recommend!

I was attracted to this new future, the Wastelands, since "Logan" came out, I had never read nothing about it though... Being set prior to the Old Man Logan story, I feel like Old Man Hawkeye is an even richer story and takes a deeper take on this reality. Full of action, surprises and old known characters, this is as much a must read as Old Man Logan is. Not to talk about the art, 'cause oh man, is the art of this comic divine... So precise, so beautiful... so well done.
Brace yourself for the thrilling interconnection between four simultaneus deadly chases: Barton's chase against time, hoping to avenge his fellow late comrades before his eyes give up on him; Marshal Bullseye unresting thirst for superhero slaughter; Venom's vengeance against the one who wronged his current host; and Herr Red Skull efforts for cutting all loose ends in his reign.
However, the one final question I can't answer is: which one is better in this comic... the plot or the art?
