Sam and his team might be the fastest heroes to get licensed in history, but that doesn't mean they can rest on their laurels. A rash of villain attacks have sparked across the world, and people are disappearing in the aftermath, and the authorities are lost. It's up to Sam to rely on his video game Aspect to follow the quest lines, gain the levels he needs, and track the waypoints until he can uncover the truth behind the assaults.
But even that can't prepare him and his team for what they discover at the final marker.
Warning: This book contains beautiful women, steamy sex, incredible super powers, city-busting laser beams, bizarre experiments, crazy power leveling, and the ability to become the strongest person the universe has ever seen. That’s right, we said universe.
The series overall is interesting but this book was a let down. For one thing, the book has a misleading title. I also wasn't a fan of the deus ex machina where the already overpowered character gets new skills right before a situation pops up where the skill is needed - like or . I understand that Sam's Aspect gives him omniscient level hints about the future but these new skills are too obvious. The big boss was also a let-down. Finally, the final battle was rushed and unsatisfying. After one chapter, it all ends with stuff destroyed in a bunch of different cities and nameless, faceless people dead. I hated getting invested in the whole plan just for most of it to end up greyed out in the background once the boss battle was over. Oh... and
Reads like a book written by someone who hasn't read any of the other books. Sam's been completely nerfed in this one. He had the strength to rip a hovercar in half a few books back and that was when his strength was at 220 (110 times his baseline of 2). At 350 strength he should literally be the strongest human on earth but he seemed next to useless in any physical encounter.
He also has a tendency to ignore his skills when they could be useful (there's more than one battle in this book he should have been able to resolve single handed if he used quicksand but it never even crosses his mind). I'm also getting tired of him never using his hero points to buy skills. He literally has thousands of points but never once even looks at what skills he could purchase to make himself stronger.
I'm also pretty sure that at least one character in this book was killed in the last book, unless being blasted with a cannon plus having your neck broken simultaneously is no longer a mortal wound. The council also have a hell of a lot of information in this book about a character they didn't know existed in the last one.
All in all a hot mess of a book which I really struggled to finish.
So many sentences that are worded poorly or just make zero sense. And others that are just flat out wrong. Like the ultimate weapon quest, this book stated that it first popped up in the last book, but that's wrong. I'm 99% certain it was in book 1. Then this book said joax was in prison. I guess they keep corpses in prison? Because he straight up died in the last book. "Two cracks boomed through the air. One was close, the sound of Joax’s neck shattering as I twisted it with all my Strength. The other, however, was the booming report of a high-powered pre-Aspect weapon. It didn’t matter, however, because Joax dropped dead, his neck shattered, and a massive exit wound showing in the back of his head." the part in parentheses is copy pasted directly from the last book. Its like the author doesn't even care about continuity. I really hope the next 3 are not this bad.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Sam and the ladies are off to save the world from groups of villains set on creating chaos. A new super-villain appears and changes everything. The story and characters were intriguing and engaging. I look forward to reading more about these characters and their further adventures. This book is definitely worth reading.
The author continues to create inventive Aspects for his heroes, villians, and supporting characters, but the plot of this book is basically the same as the last book in the series. Additionally, the fact that Sam's aspect produces a new facet of power just before he needs it is trading too far into deus ex machina territory to be sustainable for long. This is the last book of this series I will read.
Sam and his girlfriend hero's have their skills put to the test and in the end win a massive battle against a zealot. The story is fun from cover to cover, but with noticeably less sex than any prior books and it's not missed.
I'm looking forward to see how much stronger their abilities become in the next book.
More escapades and fun. More unbelievable action in bed and battle. However this book could have used a good editor or proof reader. Lots of errors. Some looked like that dumb spell check that we love and hate. Sam, the pretty boy, is maturing into a real hero. His ladies and fellow heroes are becoming a cohesive family and battle group.
The villains are just caricatures. They are laughably evil they aren't believable at all. And don't get me started on the MC. At this point in the story he basically has the physical and mental stats of a god, yet he struggles at every fight, and never uses his skills to pointed effect.
Yet another fantastic chapter in Sams journey. Every time a new Level Up book comes out, I internally squeal like a little school girl in excitement, and I am never disappointed. I am definitely looking forward to the next book.
It was an overall great book like the ones before it. This one however, came with ALOT of grammatical errors. I’m not sure it went through an edit or beta read. That aside, good continuation of the story and character growth.
