The holidays are supposed to be a time of joy and love with your family. But the holidays with the Garett family is like getting water and oil to mix; it isn’t happening. When the family finally comes together for the holidays, mayhem is sure to break loose. After five years of being away from her judgmental, hypocritical family, Tru is dragged to Charleston, South Carolina for the holidays. All her life she’s done nothing but live up to her parents expectations. Still being viewed as a bougie brat by some of her family, she still tries to impress them, regardless of the mental and emotional strain it puts on her. All she wants for the holidays is to have her family accept her and be proud of her for once. Syaire, Tru’s older sister is living the life others would kill for. Married to a brain surgeon and raising three beautiful kids was something she always wanted. Having already traveled around the entire world, Syaires only worry is outdoing her competition, her little sister Tru; even if it means tearing her down every chance she gets. Envying her sister isn’t Syaires only issue. When secrets and alcohol spill on the holidays, flashing a couple grand won’t save her this time. Nora is the youngest sister out of the Garret siblings. Dropping out of college and moving to LA to be the most known model had it’s perks. But when things go left and her pockets are dry, shes stuck between a rock and a hard place. Not wanting to be seen as the disappointment of the family, Nora waltz into South Carolina gaming the superstar personality she once had in the beginning. With skeletons in the closet of her own, will the holidays in South Carolina be better than the not so easy life she had back in LA? The Garrett family is about to have one hell of a holiday. All they wanna do is make to New Years without killing one another. Tru only wants one thing for Christmas and it is to be true to herself. The only thing that scares her is, her family may not make it to Christmas without being on The First 48. But what would the holidays be without a little bit of Christmas Mayhem?
This my first time reading a book by this Author and I must say that Kayla did an awesome job. This book keep me interested from beginning to end. Tru had to deal with a lot at heartache from her family but it didn't break her. There is so much I could say about this book and each couple but I want say anything but I'm glad everyone got their happy ever after and Tru and Hasaun got happy ever after with each other. I must say I would also love to hear more from Marley he was too funny I laughed until I cried. Once again you did an awesome job. Looking forward to reading more from you keep up the great work!
This is the 1st time reading from this author. I started this book like three times at first is was a slow started to me. But I'm glad I read it I truly enjoyed. Tru is one of a kind and that Thanksgiving probably remind us of how all are family gatherings be. But it take just one person like Marley to spill all the beans 😂😂. But it takes. Strong individual like Tru to bring everyone back together. Especially her ex-husband Adrian and her younger sister Nora. I guess that's why you should always be Tru to yourself.
This book definitely had me on the edge of my seat just wondering what was gonna happen. This entire family was dis functional and I was not surprised at the events that took place at thanksgiving dinner, but I was surprised at was how forgiving Tru was cause babyyyyy I would still be beating both their asses. Marley was definitely my favorite with his stupid ass. This was definitely a book worth reading.
Every family has issues but the Garrett family has some subscriptions! Everybody is hiding secrets and trying to outshine everybody. It was a mess, entertaining, but still a mess. Thankfully someone had the stones to use communication to help try to heal.some of the hurts going on and bring about some unity instead of dysfunction.
Well I wasn't prepared fr that emotional rollercoaster you took me through. And baby if you didn't depict what actually happens in true family ties!!! This was a great read!!! Loved it!!!
This well written story and the family dysfunction made for a great read. The drama within one family was so much, that no one in the outside needed to bring any. I enjoyed this read.
This book was crazy good. I personally think everyone could relate to this family one way or another. Dysfunctional and such competition and secrets. I'm so glad that through it all family can and will always remain teflon strong.
MS. KAYLA ISSAC THANK YOU FOR THIS REAL LIFE FAMILY DRAMA HOLIDAY STORY. FAMILY, SECRETS, JUDGEMENT, FORGIVENESS, ACCEPTANCE, GROWTH AND MOST OF ALL LOVE. YES TRU FINALLY WAS ABLE TO BE HERSELF.
Great storyline and very entertaining. Tru was very selfless because I would have had to drag Nora a time or three 🤷🏾♀️. Next to Tru, Marley was my favorite character. I recommend this Holiday short. Good job 🔥
Family betrayal at its finest! So many secrets, I don't know how any of them survived. Its always a good person to get caught up in every one else's bull.
I couldn't be the bigger person like Tru, was with Nora.
I feel like this should be more than a holiday book!!! I wanna know what else happens with Tru & Hasaun as well as how the family adapts to Nora being with Adrian.
