Satiate your thirst not just by reading about how to raise funds for a start-up but by knowing what melody plays inside the company until the funds hit the bank. Don’t just tick the checklist prescribed by leaders for business expansion, but know what suffering is inflicted when that expansion goes wrong. Don’t simply get motivated by the lessons by great CEOs on staying optimistic when things go wrong, instead, know what those CEOs go through when shutting the start-up is their best choice. This book reveals an untold, true story that takes the readers through all those sinusoidal moments of excitement and despair in Shubham's start-up journey (as the CEO of GrabOnRent) - beginning from making a resolve to venture out to shutting down the passionately built company and from deciding to hire the first employee to laying-off large teams at once. Aspiring entrepreneurs can leverage learning from the mistakes of other founders and avoid repeating them, in an attempt to reduce the infamous 90% failure rate of start-ups. This book will serve as a mentor to those who seek inspiration to venture into new business and yet wish to predict how unchartered territory might appear.
Book: Make Fewer Mistakes: Learn from the journeys of start up founders Author: Shubham Jain Publisher: Author’s Channel Genre: Self Help Format: Paperback Pages: 267 Rating: 4/5
This book is like a guide for people thinking for start ups but have a lot of self doubt and fear of failure. The book is divided into six parts dealing with different dimensions of startups. I really enjoyed reading why various start ups failed. What those people missed while calculating their risks. The author has really put in a lot of efforts to create this fine work. The Paperback is of very fine quality, packaging and delivery were also reasonable. Language is easy and professional at the same time. Glossary is enriched. Cover page is really beautiful. The choice of color, format, font is really appreciated. The little band aids are like cherry on the cake. Title is something that caught me attention at once. We don’t find much books in this genre. I would suggest everyone in general and those thinking to take initiative for their start ups in particular should read this book. Books like these should be added to school and college curriculum so that from a very young age , students can initiate their start ups. This way they will have more time at hand.
Being a freelance aptitude trainer, I often tell my students not to follow your passion blindly as it is often the most misunderstood advice that most so called motivational speakers seem to give on social media especially you tube. Everybody should also be aware of the flip side before venturing into anything especially business.
'Make Fewer Mistakes' is a commendable take on the don'ts part for a budding entrepreneur. It nowhere discourages anyone to dive into building one's own empire. Infact the author tells the readers what mistakes to avoid that he himself had committed or learnt through other experiences in his journey of ultimate success.
Through an impeccable narration and a unique writing style, author sets the bar high and a precedence for one and all to take a cue from. He even mentions the little intricate details about how to get funds for the startup and how one shouldn't get disheartened by the little failures in the path as the dreams take their own sweet time to get realized. The cover quality, font size and printing is one of the best I witnessed this year amongst 100+ books that I read. Highly recommended to all those who wants to delve into the exciting path of building something from the scratch.
Make Fewer Mistakes by author Shubham Jain is An ultimate guide for those who are interested in start ups. Book provide as a guide what to do and what not in order to achive a success. This book teaches us more on what not to do rather than what to do while starting our company . Its takes us much closer to the ground truth behind the startup process, I liked the book mostly because of the authors personal touch as he went through it all. There are so many talks about bussines and CEO's and entrepreneur it's actually work if we follow them I am also a businessman I'll also try to follow they approach.
To me, it's a lesson. But how long will we be able to rectify every mistake after every lesson? Won't that require a whole lifetime to understand and make a better life? Well, I was one among the former who takes mistakes as a lesson, but now my prime focus is not on rectifying the mistakes, but to make Fewer Mistakes. And as I expected, I could understand that the author has the same point.
The book is a reliastic portrayal of how a new start up- GrabOnRent orginiated, sustained and happily ended up. It's really good to see the lessons learned being published as a book, as in two fold it will benefit, one- the author has set a guide to people who aim to begin a venture of their own and secondly books never die and so are the lessons mentioned in it. Basic research of the field, potential audience, challenges SWOT analysis etc are what we find in every non fiction, self help books. But this stands apart for its quality in conveying the idea of Mitigation- reducing the negative impact of possible contingencies or disasters. Yes, not merely on 'What no to do ?' but also on 'Why you shouldn't do!'. I could clearly draw up the influence of Simon Sinek's 'Start with Why' in this book. The core ideas are employed through exemplification of each mistake, each lesson and each step.
We know that it's easy to read and leave experiences of other people but it's not easy to communicate our own experiences to others. You can definitely find that personal touch in each of the chapters. The language used is also of a subtle manner. The book gives detailed information regarding the business mistakes, lack of realising true potentials and the importance of keeping self and the venture a step apart. The book indirectly covers the essential requirements of an entrepreneur like Leadership, compassion, hardwork, determination and perseverance which made the book stand apart from the cliche set up. By the end we find the closure of GrabOnRent, which left my heart a bit heavy, but we can see how beautifully that feeling of understanding the lessons are painted in the book.
Glad to have read this book as my second read of 2021 and am looking for more such encouraging, true colours of life!

i m fortunate to read this book a brief story of start up.
The Story of young Alumni from IIT Guwahti who decide to give up campus recruitments why ? To go for the start ups with friends. i sounds it crazy.
life is so small to make every mistake and learn from them. the wise person learn from others mistakes. as the title suggest a book will help to make fewer mistakes in their journey as enterprenership. it is not about the rules that you have to do or donts.
but there is entire experiences he share which he gone through
duing this read i recall the days when i saw precher web series and the role of jitu bhaiya.
shubham describe his entire journey right from college days to how it come on paper and finally how it is founded a Startup Grabonrent.
it is such a innovative idea that he rents household equipments on monthly rent how the idea came to his mind is a funny story Thanks to those bed bugs infested in the bed.
Author not only share his experience but he share numerous examples from many indian and international startups. The case study are given in detail and this is the advantage i guess to read the book written by IIT alumini who founded start ups.
beside startups he share case study of Successful business empires like facebook, ola , flipkart etc. which is a page turner.
The Quotes are written from successful people and the book is design so neatly even the cover and binding is so nice to touch.
There is experience share which i like most in the chapters. working with friends firing the right way communicating in tough times hiring and training
then few things not go in the write way and they decided to shut down this startup.
now what actually happens with Grabonrent ?
grab your copy

i thank you shubham for writing this so me and our young enterprener can learn from your experience.

Book Title: Make fewer mistakes Author: Shubham Jain Format: Paperback
My Review: In recent years the word 'start-up' has been making rounds. Start-up businesses have been receiving increased attention in many parts of the world. In India, the number of start-ups has snowballed, and more support has become available for them. The Indian start-up system and model has been successful in most cases since 2010.
If we talk about the genesis of start-up culture in India, we shall initially look at this initiative's roots. Start-ups have played and continue to play significant roles in the growth, development and industrialization of many economics all over the world. India has declared 2010-20 as the Decade of Innovation. The Government has stressed the need to vocalize a policy to synergies science, technology & innovation and establish the National Innovation Council(NIC).
When a youngster thinks of setting up a start-up company, all certain time, he or she expects a support system. The difficulties faced by the CEO is often miscalculated by the employee or the outsiders. It is only the CXO office that is aware of the potential hardships a company faces
This book is an inspirational and reference guide that would help people looking after to set-up their start-ups. Entrepreneurship is an integral part of society that is evolving with hundreds of ideas in today's world. In this book, the author Shubham Jain has shared many resources that would help an individual mentally, professionally, and personally evolve their mind and understanding. This book also contains a list of handpicked real-life stories that teach a lot. I find this a highly superior way of delivering a message or imparting wisdom. I recommend the book very strongly.
The author in this book also some of the essential and crucial concerns that a start-up company must focus on. In the elementary and simple language, the author excelled in explaining successful and unsuccessful start-up companies' real scenarios.
This is one such book that is a must-have asset for every single being in today's date. On a personal note, I've been eyeing such a book for days. Being in the digital marketing industry I know the importance of crisp strategies in a business. I've been trying to apply a few annotations from the book and yes they are working. I'm reading it at a slow pace as it is one such book where you have to learn step by step to function accordingly.
Start-up! "Generation Z" has seen ample of revolutionary start-ups that have ruled the world. Well, we have also witnessed millions of start-ups going down to ruins. Ask every 3rd guy and they are determined for a start-up. But, the journey is not everyone's cup of tea.
This book is a coursebook for every single person who is in a business or is planning to come up with one. If you randomly ruffle through the pages, you will see the proper divisions of chapters and topics. Undoubtedly, this is the work of an IITian!
The book contains a chronological narration of almost all the successful start-ups. Author Shubham Jain has brilliantly presented a catalog of Do's and Don'ts while in a business. We, all make mistakes, we all do a blunder. But, if you are reading this book, there are fewer chances that you will be at loss.
The author has presented a well-researched paper of his. He has given examples of several start-ups and briefly talked about their advents. How, when, and where did they make a mistake, what steps caused them to lose their market grip. I'm truly amazed by this deep case study.
I literally am learning from this book. I'm glad I came across such a brilliant collection of ideas and strategies. I'd say, it's a must read for every business oriented individual. This has to be a holy book for them. I loved the language flow and appropriate usage of words.
We all have, atleast once, thought of starting a startup. But is it that easy......starting a startup??
Book - Make Fewer Mistakes Author - Shubham Jain Genre - Non Fiction Pages - 259
In this book the author takes us into what goes in setting up a startup. It's not just another startup guide but in this book the author shares his experience/journey....from starting a startup, to building it, to growing it, to running it , and finally shutting it down. The author has explained everything in a simple manner giving examples of big entrepreneurs. One such eg that I liked is of Market Timing where the author explains that timing plays a big role. The author also talks on one of the important topic which keeps the startup going ie Valuing your employees - communicating with them, hiring and training them the right way, firing them the right way. The pages are loaded with just the right information and no unnecessary gyaan is given. I took my own sweet time to read the book. I didn't read it in one go. I also noted down few quotes, which I found inspiring and motivating, from the book.
Here are few of them -
If you aren't prepared to take risks, you have no business being an entrepreneur.
To be a great leader, one needs to be comfortable with being uncomfortable.
Miracles dont satiate your dreams, practicality does.
It is important to be a good person before being successfull.

What I loved most about this book is the straightforward ideas and lessons shared by the author along with the examples given of great entrepreneurs. I also loved the page quality of the book, the minimalistic cover and timely delivery by amazon.
Make Fewer Mistakes is a highly remarkable piece of non fiction intended to help all those who aspire to set up their own business or "start-up".
With a candid and perspicuous writing style, Shubham Jain has presented everything you will ever need on the journey of entrepreneurship.
Backing the suggestions or learnings with case studies of his own start up "GrabOnRent" and other well known companies like Nokia and Airbnb as well as not so popular startups, the author has made the book credible for budding entrepreneurs.
The tone of the book is genuine and not preachy. The book has invaluable leadership lessons that can be adopted by anyone looking for improving their leadership skills.
The book is divided into six sections- Falling for entrepreneurship, Building a stellar team, Scaling the business, Cracking Venture Capital, Mergers and Acquisitions and Tackling Mental Health.
It not only provides an insight into what goes on in the world of a startup and journey of entrepreneurship but also can be a perfect guide and save you from committing mistakes, which brings me to appreciate the apt title "Make Fewer Mistakes".
It will prove to be a good read even if you do not aspire to be an entrepreneur but enjoy reading non-fiction as it has nice lessons to offer to improve your leadership and overall personality.
Make fewer mistakes- A book that will help people make fewer mistake in their journey as entrepreneurs. It is not here to tell you the rules that you must follow, or act as a guidebook for the dos and don'ts. It is a collection of experiences, related by someone who had gone through many of them a firsthand perspective to show what had gone right or wrong in a journey of inspiration and courage. Without shying away from the details, Shubham recounts the journey that has had as many losses as it had laurels. Make fewer mistake is a book that turns reading it into a journey, and makes that experience so worthwhile that when it ends, tou realise that the book had been a destination itself. Similarly, in entrepreneurship, the journey is worth the effort, a d the focus is not on completing it but enjoying it instead. It is not imperative that you arrive. What matters is that you travel, and learn along the way.
By then, you will ha a different definition of what it means 'to arrive'. Actively choosing a part that went against the grain of the computer science engineer that I am, and walking away from the cushy IT space was one of the hardest decision I throught I had yo make in life. But i stood firm, choosing my love of literature over tha expected path. We often come across some books in our life at the right time - they change us alchemically. This is kne such book. Read it to know of an inspiring story that holds nothing back, read it because you want to educate yourself better.
“It is important to be a good person before being successful- said everyone. It requires a humble and honest act daily to become a good person- said no one.”

This book is an inspirational guide that would help you to evolve your knowledge and skills. In today’s world, Entrepreneurship is an integral part of society that is bringing forth a casket of ideas in business. But it has its own share of risks and difficulties. In this book, the author has shared an immense amount of resources that would help an individual to evolve their mind and understanding. It is not just another start-up story, the book is acting as a mentor to all the young entrepreneurs. Through the collection of experiences, it offered realistic approaches to solve every problem.
By the end of it, your whole outlook on entrepreneurship would undergo a huge change. I don’t possess much knowledge in this field. But the author made sure to represent this book with the right amount of technical terminology so that the content becomes fit for everyone. But what hooked me to this book was its constructive writing style and easy representation. The book not only offered theories but also offered strategies that would help any individual in hard times. The author had incorporated immense effort while crafting this detailed account. If you want to learn more about entrepreneurship, then this book would fit your needs perfectly. I even liked the book cover, simple yet captivating.
Have you ever acknowledged what CEO's mind goes through when they are in chaos? Nope, right? Even I have not. The hardship of building a business that seems easy to a visitor or employee. However, while reading this realistic book I realized the role and responsibilities of the CEO and their team. Learned how to make decisions fast. This is probably the most important quality one CEO or Head of Company should have.
I must thank the author here, for various reasons such as; 1. Case studies; Perhaps, this is my 1st read in such case studies. There can be other books as well. But I have only read this one. 2. How company whooped success and how suddenly they fail. 3. Sharing the progress of his company; If you read this book. He has worked hard with many other founders. And We can say "Struggle Is Real". 4. Making it in layman's language. Narrated it to make us decipher. Especially, how to make important decisions without making anyone feel bad or left out. Some of us, cannot make decisions without offending anyone.
Talking about book, I have highlighted some points which inspired me. " Vulnerability is the willingness to show up and be seen by others, in the face of uncertain outcomes".
Altogether, it can serve as a survival guide to any aspiring businessperson or founder.

It prepares our mind to face success and failure both, because everything we do had the chance to fail and to win, altogether.
The author has penned this book very well. It's almost like talking to the author himself. Every minute detail has been shared through the book. Making it easy to understand.
My Perspective: “It is important to be a good person before being successful- said, everyone. It requires a humble and honest act daily to become a good person - said no one” - This is one of the many takeaways from this book.
About the Book: This is an inspiring read, a bundle of knowledge for budding entrepreneurs. The paperback of 262 pages with an orange cover is a great pick. This color actually makes us more attentive (i feel) and reading the book was much more interesting.
About the Story: The author has presented many experiences for different stages of work through this book. He had explained the situations, problems, mistakes, and solutions in a conversational narration. Who don't want to be their own boss? Who don't want to start their next innovative startup and earn in millions, umm like , amazon , oyo and a lot of other examples who made it big . But behind the stary lights of these successful startups we often ignore what mental stress the founders often go through , what all they put at stake for the venture, and offcourse we ignore the thousands of unsuccessful startups and the plight of their founders . There are a lot of business talks , a lot of CEO s sharing motivating talks over the internet , a lot of mantras are their to get you company going , but hold on a sec do they really work? Or if they do , how it feels to actually implement those mantras in real life . This book takes a different approach, it teaches you more on what not to do rather than what to do while starting your own company . Its takes you much closer to the ground truth behind the startup process, I liked the book mostly because of the authors personal touch as he went through it all. If you are someone looking to start your own company, well give the book a read ...you won't regret it.
Make Fewer Mistakes. Who will not be interested in knowing strategies or fundamentals that prevents us from making mistakes! There are actually two ways to learn 'How To Make Less Mistakes' first try new things, make mistakes and learn from them and second go through advices being given by someone who has already gone through the same thing you've been tried to do.
'Make Fewer Mistakes' is one such book presented as a guide which contains life experiences of successful entrepreneurs about the 'Mistakes' they became part of and how they came out of it.
It's not something that will teach you fundamentals or rules of industry instead it presents the actual circumstances, mental traumas of an individual when he's working on starting up something big on his own. Hardwork and no-experiences teaches so many things.
The stories explains how every beginner, when he plans to step into something he not only have the proper basic idea about how it will work, but also have to be prepared mentally and physically.
A completely different and informative read I came across and I definitely loved it to the core. Totally recommend one.
This book comes with excellent title is quite different from another the way it talks about mistakes and make known to the experiences of mistakes done by young entrepreneurs.
Best thing is this book doesn't tell you the rules that you must follow and act as guide for the do's and don'ts and will help people make fewer mistakes in their journeys as entrepreneurs. It's really helpful collection of experiences related by such person who had gone through to show what had gone right or wrong in a journey of inspire and encourage others throughout entrepreneurs' journey.
It teaches challanges and risks are to be taken positively as lesson to learn and develop, refining ourself.
Contents of the book is such inspiring that you will also find that the secret to achieving goals you goals. searching elsewhere, it’s time to go behold our steps and find our own mistakes earlier and what is lacking and go through it to make it practicable and viable.
Language is thoroughly stunning and easy that anyone can read it in a go and book cover is much impressive to grab the book and give it read.
