Rachando stared with a mix of fear and trepidation at the words hanging in the air before him. Return to Vorito, with the utmost haste, for reassignment. In all the years he had worked for General Development Corporation, nothing good ever started out that way.
Rachando is a solid fixture in the Floating Palace, known to all the nobility as a man who can get hold of anything they need – in return for some of the ancient treasures of the Sindal Empire. This is the story of how the secretive trader arrived on Drinax and what motivated him to become a resident in the service of King Oleb.
The main problem of this short story is absence of resolution. This is just vignette that serves as introduction of important NPC in Traveller's Pirates of Drinax campaign. It make sense - resolution of this story is up to players, but as standalone tale this feels unfinished. However rachando is interesting character (as well as Gabi) and I enjoyed ma brief time with him.
Very much a setup for The Pirates of Drinax, introducing one of its characters. There's not a lot of depth to the story as a result, but it does nicely build on The King is Dead to create a growing picture of Drinax prior to the beginning of the roleplaying adventure.
Far too much telling instead of showing, and explanatory narrative voice that strayed close to being insulting at a point or two, but serves its purpose of introducing the setting and some of its key players well enough.
