Can Santa make her less "bah humbug" about love? Forty-year-old Samantha Nicholson has never had much interest in falling in love. Her troubled childhood taught her that the only person she can rely on is herself. She's done well for herself, working her way up through the ranks to manage the second largest department store in the Pacific Northwest. She has a good job, friends, and a little dream house with her very own garden. Everything would be perfect if she could just get through the busy Christmas shopping season and find the perfect Santa to work at the store. It turns out the perfect Santa is also the perfect man for her. Recently retired after twenty-five years in the Navy, Dominick Romano is taking some time off as he plans his next move. When his sister asks him to help her employment agency by applying for a Santa job, Dom figures it will be an easy way to pass the time. Little does he know he's about to meet the woman he's been looking for his whole life. She claims that she hates Christmas, but he's going to make it his mission to make Sammie fall in love with Christmas. If he has any luck, she'll also fall in love with Santa himself. "Dating Santa" is book one in the "Loving the Holidays" series, contemporary romantic comedies featuring couples in their forties and fifties. Expect strong men, independent women who know their own minds, meddling friends and families intent on matchmaking, and lots of steam.

Trusting Santa . . .

Forty-year-old Samantha Nicholson (“Sammie”), managing the second largest department store in the Pacific Northwest, is frustrated with the holidays. She had been interviewing Santas all day and there was no one who “fits” what she is looking for. But when the final applicant came in, she was speechless. He was tall, handsome, and personable, very fit and muscular. Dominick Romano (“Dom”) had just retired after twenty-five years in the Navy. His sister suggested he work a seasonal job while planning what he wants to do next. So the Santa job was perfect. And it looked like both of them were strongly attracted to each other, even though they knew nothing could come of it. But when she stated that she disliked the holidays, he warned her that, as the official Santa, he was going to help her find her holiday spirit.

Somehow Samantha feels like the woman Dom has been looking for his whole life. He saw the pain in her eyes when they talked about holidays. But challenged by her claim that she hates Christmas, his new mission is to not only help her fall in love with Christmas, but maybe fall for Santa too. Can he show her what the spirit of Christmas really means? Can he open her heart to trust love?

Really good book with great characters. I love that her MC ate later in life, in this book 46 & 40. Dom was kind, compassionate and knew his worth. He saw hints of baggage that Sammie carried but was patient with her. There are a few minor typos that don’t take away from the story but when a book is only 83 pages, I feel this should have been proofread more carefully. Keep this in mind when reading but know it’s a good story

This was a cute read of a mature romance of Samantha and Dominic slowly falling in love. Liked the sure steady romance, with no major drama, just easily falling into place naturally. Definitely liked the fun nature of the characters and how well they got al9ng from the very beginning.

Enjoyed Samantha and Dominick's sweet romance when he becomes the Santa at the department store that she manages. They are both mature characters which was refreshing and when they meet they know what they want.
