MP3 CD Format Why does doing the right thing have to be so hard? Leslie Collins has been asking herself that question ever since her eyewitness testimony in a murder case landed her in the Witness Protection Program far away from everything and everyone she’s ever known. Now, four years later, she struggles with growing despondency over the circumstances that prevent her from forming a relationship. When she allows her loneliness to get the better of her and indulges in a one-night stand, she never dreams her stranger will show up again at the private club she’s stayed away from for a few weeks. Kurt Wilcox returns home to Montana to help his father recover from a stroke and hopefully mend the rift between them. He doesn’t plan on rescuing a woman from a mugging and ending up succumbing to the loneliness reflected on her face and indulging in a one-night stand. When he meets up with Leslie at his club, he refuses to let her hide her identity or her reasons for inviting a stranger into her home and bed. Leslie finally caves to his persistence and agrees to an affair that seems promising, until she learns her identity has been compromised and an attempt on her life forces out the truth about her past. Will putting her trust in her Dom jeopardize him and his employees when she agrees to his protection, or will Kurt rid her of the threat against her, as he promises, leaving her free to embrace her own happily ever after? Publisher’s This steamy contemporary Western romance contains elements of mystery, suspense, danger, and power exchange.

I live in the Midwest with my husband and two dogs, enjoy spending time with my daughter, babysitting her two dogs, reading and working puzzles. We have traveled extensively, but I much prefer being a homebody.

I began writing erotic novels with an emphasis on erotic spanking five years ago never dreaming that I would get published. I just celebrated the release of my eleventh title and am very thankful to my publisher, Pink Flamingo, for taking a chance on me and giving me the opportunity to enjoy a fun career. While my earlier books lean more towards straight erotica that will appeal to only a very select audience, my last five books are erotic romances. I enjoy hearing all comments from readers. BJ Wane’s highly anticipated sixth addition to her Cowboy Doms series has hit the shelves today, and Submitting to the Cattleman is a holiday treat that was totally worth waiting for.
What I enjoy about BJ’s books is that I’m able to submerse myself into the story and get a good feel for what the lead character is feeling, smelling, ect. And this story definitely had me doing so. I was hooked all of the way until the very end.
Leslie Collins has witnessed a truly horrific crime, and by being brave enough to step forward , she’s placed her life and those closest to her in jeopardy, so she enters witness relocation and ends up in Montana.
Kurt Wilcox comes home to take care of his ailing father and help with the ranch. As a man who cares for abused horses, and a dom, he notices Leslie’s standoffish attitude towards all of the other Doms and subs. Why won’t she get close to anyone? He decides to find out.. But Leslie has a threat after her, and she won’t feel safe with anyone until that threat is eliminated..
So much heat to this one you’ll want to be near a fan! And the suspense leaves you just right at the edge of your seat. Bravo BJ! I’m waiting with baited breath for what happens next.

Leslie's always been interested in BDSM, but she's supposed to have changed everything about herself for the Witness Protection Program. Still, maybe the occasional night at a small town BDSM club wouldn't hurt? Master Kurt can't understand why Leslie won't give their relationship a chance... until her past catches up with her.

While this book does have a lot of the tropes of the genre, overall it handles them very well. The characters are interesting, and Leslie's dilemma of love vs. protection is a great one. The ending is a little cliché, but the writing is so good that I didn't mind much.

I give the series 3 stars

This review is for this SET of books. There are six in print right now, but I have no knowledge if there are to be more. The story leaves the possibility of more.

None of my favorite authors have a release coming soon. So I looked to see what Amazon recommended for me. This series by BJ Wayne came up. As the first book is free, I figured why not. After reading the first book, I felt the story had a very light plot and underdeveloped characters. But it wasn't horrible.

So I went ahead and bought the rest of the series. I know, I know. Why I didn't buy the books one at a time, I don't know. My fault. And since I always feel bad about returning a book for a refund, I told myself I would read them. (It's a women thing feeling guilty.)

I made it through all six books. But I was gritting my teeth to finish them.

Every single book had a very light plot and underdeveloped characters. Every one. The dramatic moment near the end of each book was predictable. There was nothing unique about any of the books.

I enjoyed reading the scenes from The Barn. They were also "light" in my opinion, especially since the focus of all the main characters in the book is a D/s relationship. But I do admit that everyone is going to have their own opinions about the club.

(Want to read really good books based on a D/s club? I highly recommend the Shadowlands series by Cherise Sinclair.)

I have the privilege of proofing for a great author who writes D/s as a lifestyle. So the following few comments are things I noticed that I would have pointed out to my writer, should it have been her doing the writing.

First, I would like to respectfully recommend this author to make use of Thesaurus.com. Every single book had multiple mentions of "malleable buttocks". Occasionally they were "malleable globes", but not often. What about a nice, round a** sometimes? Every single book had multiple mentions of "turgid nipples". Really? Turgid? Over and over again? Try noticing the number of times "denuded" was used. I went to Thesaurus.com myself and there are many options for malleable, turgid, and denuded. While there are many other examples of repeated wording, these three were the worst.

Second, there were obvious errors in grammar. I don't know how they got through an editor and/or proofers, but they did. If I were the author, it might be time to look for new help.

Third, a large majority of the D/s scenes focused on spanking (those malleable buttocks). I know there is a whole genre dedicated to spanking. And I don't have any problem reading about spankings. But to me, it felt like there might be one sex scene to every three spankings. Whether at the club, or at the home (ranch) of Mr Main Character. And more details were given about the spankings than the sex. If these books were aiming at that spanking genre, they'd be great. But the aim was D/s relationships.

Yet I find myself saying again "the books weren't horrible". I did expect a lot more oomph to the books, especially if the price is $4.99. But they weren't horrible. And I think this author could really go places with a bit of effort.

My recommendation to potential readers is to read the first book in the series that is free. Did you like it or not? The rest of the books are basically the same.

I was seriously torn about how many stars to give as a rating. I did not feel like they were worth a 5. But I also didn't think they deserved a 1. So I went right in the middle with a 3.

This was probably one of my least favorites of the series. The plot was predictable and I found it high on angst and low on romance. I still wasn't believing they were in love by the end of the book. I could see something happening for them in the future, but not at that moment. They didn't spend much time together at all, so I questioned how they could be in love with someone they really didn't know (well, Kurt was honest, Leslie was too dishonest for most of the book for Kurt to really know her). This book was surprisingly low on the heat scale compared to the other books. I'm not complaining too much, but it was a bit of an outlier compared to the previous books.

It was disappointing to get to the end and not know what happens for Leslie now that Witness Protection is no longer needed. Did she finally get to see her sister? What about all her old friends? What about the teacher who was an idiot (and what grade school has allowed strangers to freely walk the halls in the last 5 years?!?). There were too many questions left unanswered and that was incredibly frustrating. The danger ends and all of a sudden they get their HEA without any thought to the future?

A well Deserved 5 star ⭐️ read.

This is Kurt and Leslie’s story. Full of intrigue and suspense, and revenge by one of my best BDSM authors BJ Wane. She has done it again with her magnificent book 5 of the Cowboy Dom’s. Her books have everything a reader of this genre needs, hot sexy scenes, intrigue with twists and turns you do not always see coming! I just love this series and look forward to the next Cowboy Dom books.
Will Leslie ever let Kurt in? Instead of pushing all men and potential women friend’s away from her dark secret past? Will Edwin Glascott get his revenge on Leslie? Doing the right thing all those years ago, which left her life in pieces, she now doubts! Can she put her her colleagues at The Barn in danger just to give her the release she needs? Will Kurt’s father ever stop blaming Kurt for his sister’s death?

Already, my favorite book in the series has changed. Most of the stumbling blocks I had encountered in my enjoyment of the earlier books were not found in this one. I loved Leslie’s strength and her independence. I particularly liked that the author shows us that even though these are her strengths, they’re also the source of her greatest vulnerabilities. I enjoyed seeing that even though Kurt wanted to know all of Leslie’s secrets, he spends the time building trust with her through patience and consideration rather than using their shared Lifestyle as a method of extracting answers. My only real complaint is that the solution to all of Leslie’s problems felt like it came about a little too easily, and the wrap-up of the book is a bit abrupt. But otherwise, I enjoyed this a great deal.

Leslie is lonely after being in the witness protection program because she saw a murder. She ends up at a bar and being attacked by a purse snatcher. Kurt is back in town and rescues Leslie from the purse snatcher. The two end up having a one night stand with both wanting more but no way of contacting each other. Leslie meets up with Kurt again at the Barn, a BDSM club that Kurt is part owner in and participant as a Dominant. Kurt wants to know more about Leslie. Can she open up after there is an attempt on her life because her identity is compromised from the witness protection program? This was a good story that I recommend if you enjoy steamy and romantic suspense.

I've read many of Ms. Wane's books, but have not left a full review of any except for Blindsided (I had problems with its depiction of disability). Thus, the below addresses the entire "Cowboy Doms" series. As always, YMMV.

Ms. Wane has at least three series, all set in different parts of the country: Virginia, Miami, and Montana (not sure where she'll go next). These "Cowboy Doms" (though one is a lawyer and I assume the next book will feature the doctor) are all connected either by birth or friendship, and frequent the same BDSM club, "The Barn." Each story concentrates on a different dom as he commits to one special woman (something none of them has ever done before, which, given their ages, begs disbelief). While each can be read as a stand-alone, characters from all the books appear throughout.

I really like this author for several reasons:

1) Her books feature mutually-satisfying and well-described kink activities;

2) Her heroes are not heavy-handed or despotic, as so many are in this genre;

3) Her heroines are strong, as so many aren't in this genre (none of them, thank god, are "brats"): they submit to one special man, but no one else, and are not afraid to stand up for themselves and tell that man off when he's wrong (and, thankfully, all are friends; so many of these books depict women as natural enemies);

4) The relationships are realistic in that no one is all right or all wrong (so, Ms. Wane doesn't travel down the unfortunately too well-worn path of the "man is always right" and the "woman is always wrong," far too common in these books). In addition, because the H and h are likeable, brave, loyal, and kind -- with understandable human flaws -- you care for them and root for their HEAs;

5) She's a decent writer (complex sentences, character backgrounds/histories/motivations, few editing errors, complete plots -- for my caveat to this see below);

6) All the activities are consensual, which, given that the Barn is supposed to be a well-respected kink-club, they better be.

All of the above applies to this particular book. In addition, I liked that the couple was a little older (30s and 40s).

I have three objections (one specific to this book and two to them all):

1) While Ms. Wane is a decent writer, all her books are very repetitious in that the same concerns are stated over and over again. In this particular book, it was worse than many of her others: we heard ad nauseam about Leslie's reluctance to engage in a relationship while in Witness Protection and we saw ad nauseam the same arguments between Kurt and his father. At almost no time did I feel I was getting any new information (tip to authors: if you're not imparting new information to your reader, take it out) and this redundancy really slowed down the action of the first part of the book. While I appreciated that the pace gave the couple's relationship more time to evolve than is usual in this genre, I would have liked to have actually seen them together more, doing different things (there weren't as many kink scenes in this book, for example, as there could have been), rather than hear yet again about how upset Kurt was with his father.

2) The ending here is very abrupt and leaves us with many unanswered questions (such as, ?). In addition, it ends, oddly enough, not on the MC, but .

3) This is the sixth book in the series and, as in most series, the plots are getting old. In every single one of these books, the h is under threat; this threat, in turn, forces the H to protect her until it's neutralized and she's safe. At this point, I encourage Ms. Wane to overhaul her template as this plot crisis and relationship dynamic feel far too similar throughout the series. While I understand that authors have certain tropes they stick with, there is a point where they become formulaic. And that has happened here.

4 stars. I do recommend this, but I really hope that Ms. Wane does something different in her next book.

Note: I adhere to the ratings system as laid out by Goodreads: 2 stars = it was okay; 3 stars = liked it; 4 stars = really liked it; 5 stars = it was amazing. I gave this book 4 stars because I liked the MC, even though I found the plot "same-old, same-old." I do not think that every book I read is "amazing;" further, I think that it cheapens the rating system to always assign 4 or 5 stars. If a book really earns the 4 or 5 stars (and I realize that this is, to some degree, subjective), I'll give them -- but it certainly shouldn't apply to every book. YMMV, and everyone should enjoy/rate these books as they wish.

Additional Note: I did not receive this book as an ARC; I'm not another author who hosts or is hosted by other authors in this genre on our websites; and I'm not friends with the authors IRL, "friends" on this site, or friends on any social media site.

This novel was the first I have read by this author. It was well written and edited, with well constructed sentences and paragraphs and very few if any typos and no wrong word choices I could see. There were several things about this novel I really enjoyed. I really enjoyed that the heroine was a knowledgeable experienced sub before she met the Dom hero. I feel like too many BDSM "virgin" heroines in romance novels with experienced knowledgeable Dom heroes is perpetuating some problematic double standards. It was great that this author did not do that with this novel. I also really enjoyed the Montana ranch country setting and learning things about the landscape and a little bit about modern ranching that I didn't know about. The suspense element was great. The only problem for me was that I wish the suspense element took up more space in this novel and that the heroine and hero had more car chases and shootouts. However, that is just my personal preference for high stakes adventure novels in romance novel packaging at play. I know many romance novel readers prefer high angst low stakes romances without as much external fast moving plot. This was a thoroughly enjoyable BDSM romance, and now I will be checking out this author's backlist. The romantic arc and world building of Montana ranch country make this a five star romance, with one star subtracted for the fact that the heroine didn't get much adventure or car chases or get to shoot the villain dead herself at the end of this novel. That would have been way more emotionally satisfying than the villain committing suicide for this reader. This novel ends on a Happy For Now ending instead of a Happy Ever After, which was another reason for this reader that this novel is a four star instead of a five star read. However, I know many romance novel readers prefer HFN endings instead of HEA endings, so that is a matter of pure personal preference. Except for those few elements, an all around excellent read.

I enjoyed this book for the most part. The relationship between Kurt and Leslie developed well and with a lot of emotional turmoil. I experienced a certain amount of disquiet at the interplay with some of the other characters. For example, when Mitchell was discussing Kurt's father's therapist, he very indiscreetly asked if Kurt knew that she and her husband owned a private club. There seems to have been no need for that enquiry and would Tamara want her involvement with the club to be made common knowledge with all her patients? Also, given that Kurt did not employ his father's assistant, and had no control over salaries, it was again indiscrete/foolish to say to Cory that he should have a raise and that he would look at the numbers - only to find that he was happy with his recent salary increase. I didn't like the way Leyland was spoken to on occasion, by both Kurt and Leslie. Also, having spent one night in Kurt's home, which actually belongs to his father, Leslie objected to Kurt taking a plate of food in to Leland's room saying "You shouldn't cater to him. That just enables his bad behaviour". That's a quite presumptuous statement for a guest to make. Also, when Nan, Tamara & Sydney decided to force/persuade Leslie to divulge all her secrets by going to her home, they did not know her address so they got it from the membership list that is supposed to be private and confidential - not open to wives and girlfriends of the owners to use as needed. That said, it is overall an enjoyable book

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the sixth book in the Cowboy Doms series. In this book. Kurt returns to run his family's ranch after his father has a stroke. Kurt is a dom and looks forward to returning to the Barn. When Leslie was out one night, she saw Kurt at the bar and when she left, s young man tried to mug her, but Kurt came to her rescue. Leslie was a sub and longed to have a connection to someone, but she was in hiding and knew it could cause trouble to whoever she got close to. Kurt knew Leslie was hiding something and he knew by her haunted eyes she was longing for something. so when she asked him to take her home, he agreed. they had a one night stand and thought they would never see each other again. Weeks later, Kurt still couldn't forget Leslie and considered looking for her, but thought if he found another sub at the Barn he could forget her. Leslie was a member at the Barn but she was trying to keep her distance. Nan and the girls noticed something was wrong with Leslie and decided to go see her to convince her to return to the Barn. When Leslie returned, she was shocked to see Kurt. Kurt wanted to be with Leslie and he refused to let her get away. Leslie wanted to be with Kurt, but she was scared he would be hurt. I really like this series and this was another great one. This book had a lot of heat and i loved the connection between Kurt and Leslie. There is danger and action and Kurt shows he is there to protect Leslie. Well done.

Leslie is dealing with the isolation and loneliness of being in the Witness Protection program. After a few drinks too many one night, she is accosted by a young purse snatcher but is rescued by Kurt Wilcox. It leads to an unintended one night stand that leaves both wanting for more, but neither knows how to reconnect with the other. Their paths do cross again at The Barn, a local BDSM Club that Kurt has a part ownership in. The story unfolds as Kurt tries to find out more about Leslie while Leslie has to keep the secret of her being in the WP program. This leads to some interesting scenes. In the meantime Kurt is also dealing with his estranged father and their personal conflict regarding the tragic passing of his sister. With all the baggage each is carrying, having an open and trusting relationship is difficult. The difficulties escalate when the WP program computer system is hacked and Leslie’s pursuer sends a hitman. Kurt now has to find a way to protect Leslie while at the same time confronting his father. A well written, fast paced super exciting story featuring some wonderful D/s scenes and some very graphic sexual encounters. The Cowboy Doms series is further enriched by this new book. 5 Stars.

Submitting to the Cattleman is the sixth book in the Cowboy Doms series. Leslie has kept people at arm’s reach for the past four years, but after her one night stand with Kurt, she can’t help but want more. Kurt has finally moved back home to help out his father, and wants so much more with Leslie. Determined to find out her secrets, will Kurt be able to keep Leslie safe when danger stalks her way?

Ohhh I just absolutely loved this book! Leslie and Kurt wove a romance filled with danger, chemistry, secrets, and I couldn’t put the book down once I started it! Leslie was brave and I loved that she was trying so hard to protect those around her, even at her own expense. Kurt was an awesome hero to the story because he had moments of being sweet and drawn to her sad eyes, but he was stern, commanding, dominant, and so protective! I loved their scenes together, I loved their dynamic, and I loved that Leslie tried so hard to keep emotions out of their arrangement, even when her heart wanted so much more! I loved all of the aspects of danger and drama and couldn’t decide what drew me in more - the romance or the suspense! This series has been one of my favorites from Ms. Wane and I loved Leslie and Kurt!

This is an adventurous story of giving up everything to get justice and Finding out eventually you really need to trust your heart. I liked this story but I am hoping the Next story about the Doc involves a different kind of stress... too many blood thirsty people are ending up in this little Montana town after women... might have been better is there was one after one of the men instead... A lady cop submissive stopping a jealous female stalker from hunting a Dom's Subs... could have been an interesting story. OH WELL. THE witness protection angle was an interesting change, I was surprised they didn't have a rodeo outing but the trip to the auction was kinda fun. Cutting and Roping are huge horse activities on cattle farms... it was interesting the branding was brought up in a couple books including this one. This book had a little of the previous couples and the club in the beginning but it might have been nice if they visited the club after they agreed to be together... I like this series... I hope BJ Wane's other series are as interesting. This book didn't really have much menge like some of the previous ones... it is mostly Kurt and Leslie story. Good read.

ONE WILD ROLLERCOASTER RIDE!!!
Welp, here we go! Wane drops the bomb, jacks the thrill and masters the passage, riding roughshod, melding this jewel together fluidly. Uncovering the package with all the chaos, mayhem and shenanigans, propelling this little gem to life spectacularly. Mastering the ups and downs, weaving a cocoon so intricately and tight, drawing you deeper into this tangled web until nothing else exists. Struggling with the drama, intrigue, distress, turmoil, danger and suspense spirals, thrusting this baby into the eye of the storm, thrusting it into a tailspin with stunning results. Pushing on-ward through the trials and tribulations along with a slew of twists and turns that thrusts this bad boy to whole new level. The characters chemistry is intense, white hot and explosive. The personalities are well matched and blended with just enough flaws for diversity. The characters and scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and colorful descriptions so rich and lively, they blend and flow magnificently. Remarkable job Wane, thanks for sharing this little jewel with us.

Submitting to the Cattleman is well written and fun to read. Although the author includes some scenes at The Barn and also has some interactions with past characters from the series, this story can still stand alone. Kurt and Leslie's story has both characters dealing with pasts that now influence their daily lives. Leslie enjoys teaching and working with kids but is forced to hide and to protect her future. She is strong, independent, and secretive, but also vulnerable and lonely. Kurt is strong, dominant, protective, and devoted. He has many sides which also includes being a strict Dom. While he will give Leslie leeway and he respects her need for privacy, it will only go so far. When danger arrives Kurt will take charge, protect Leslie and find a way to neutralize any harm coming her way. While their love is more a discovery and progression into a relationship, their sexual chemistry is immediate. The author gives us plenty of family relationships, love, friendship, action,, crime, secrets around every corner, explicit sex, BDSM, spankings, and so much more all rolled into an amazing 5 star read that I highly recommend. I voluntarily received an arc copy of this book.

This is the second time I have read this book. This time I decided to read the entire series from book 1-7 in order and I am so glad I did. So now I am at book 6 which is originally the book that I found this author on last year. So now I am seeing it in the way she wrote it. Leslie is a second-grade teacher who stays at home most of the time and you would think she was shy and a loner. But in reality, she is in WITSET and can't allow herself to get close to anyone in case she has to pack up and move at a moment's notice or at the worse that person be sent by the bad dude looking for her. Then we have Kurt who is just moving back to town from Houston to take care of the Ranch he grew up on along with his father who is to say the nicest mean and sour. Kurt happens to help Leslie when a mugger grabs her outside a bar and they end up having a one-night stand. They both think they will never see each other again. Yea right fate has other things in mind... that and the girls that hang out at the Barn meet her and well lets just say she ends up there and discovers her Kurt is a master there as well. OH MAN! If you are looking for true BDSM this might not be it to the t but it is good reads.

Becoming the object of a vendetta for doing the right thing and then being put into witness protection is the price that Leslie has to pay. The cost is almost too high. She lost family and friends and her home. Now she lives with a threat hanging over her head that just got exponentially more dangerous. Kurt Wilcox finally returns to his childhood home to take over the business from an ailing father who forced him to keave more than eight years ago. Kurt and Leslie's story Is a great addition to the Cowboy Doms series! The powerful and wealthy father of two killers that Leslie testified against has vowed revenge, landing her in the Witness Protection program. It was the right thing to do but has left her isolated and unable to make friends for fear of putting them in harms way as well. Kurt is returning to his family ranch after his father drove him away in grief several years ago. They come together in what each believes will be a one night stand, but neither can forget their steamy encounter. When they meet again at The Barn, the relationship begins to deepen. When her identity is compromised she turns to Kurt for protection and a chance at a future. Kurt & Leslie have more than D/S - their relationship sings while it singes the pages. I loved Kurt's protective instincts as Leslie's life is endangered and his openness to reconciling with his dad even in the face of rejection. Don't miss this one!

Submitting to the cattleman (cowboy doms book 6)

Leslie and Kurt’s story was good! Leslie is from Reno and is in the witness protection program following a murder she witnessed in her hometown. Kurt is a cattleman from Montana who just recently came back home to stay in Montana from Texas. Leslie and Kurt meet one night when Leslie is leaving the same bar that Kurt was attending when she gets mugged for her purse Kurt comes to her rescue. After rescuing Leslie Kurt decides when she comes on to him to have a one night stand with her. What he doesn’t realize is it he can’t get her out of his head a few weeks later and neither can she. They didn’t think they would ever see each other again however when she goes back to the barn which is a kink club she finds out that he is a member there as well and so it begins the story of Leslie and Kurt Read the book to find out what happens next.

I think this book, in this series, is my favorite so far. Leslie is in the Witness Protection Program for witnessing a murder 4 years ago. Being lonely, she agrees to a one night scene with Kurt. Kurt has come back home to help his father on the ranch. I really liked the father and could tell that he loved his son, even though Kurt didn't seem to feel like he did. There was so many good feels and emotions in this story and I loved how we got to see other characters from previous books. When Leslie finds out her new safe haven has been compromised, she fears for her friends safety, but when an attempt on her life happens, she's forced to tell Kurt and others close to her what happened all those years ago. Can Kurt and the guys protect her? Will she ever be safe and finally free to live without fear? If you love this series by BJ Wane, you're going to love this new addition!!

Leslie did the right thing four years ago and it cost her everything. Plagued by loneliness, she stumbles into Kurt and a good deed leads to a night of intense pleasure for this sub. Weeks later they meet again and discover the chemistry is hotter than ever for this Dom and sub. A deal is struck for an affair but Leslie's hidden past is not done with her and when danger strikes, Kurt realizes that his woman is going nowhere.
When the truth surfaces will hearts be broken or love and a future found.
I loved this book, it has become my favorite in this series! The relationship building between Kurt and Leslie is intense but a joy to read. Other relationships will be changed, healed and will grow as well.
Erotic, hot, intense, captivating and multi-faceted this heartwarming, D/s, BDSM, hot line dancing cowboy, schoolteacher romance is just......perfect.

This book has so many different aspects to it – the relationship between Leland and Kurt, Leslie’s courage that landed her in witness protection in the first place, her growing relationship with Kurt, and the danger Leslie and the ranch now face. And each of these is magnificently handled. While the D/s relationship between Kurt and Leslie is the focus of the book and those scenes are hot and swoonworthy, I think my favorite aspect was Leland and how well he is written. Because that’s something BJ Wane does so well – write characters that are rounded, memorable, and stay with you. And at the end – I had tears in my eyes. This book is magnificent: the story is strong, the characters are brilliantly written, and it’s one to come back and reread.

Love this series!

Leslie witnessed a cold blooded murder and testified against the killers landing her in the Witness Protection program trying to hide from their vengeful father who has sworn to kill her. She ends up in a small town in Montana teaching second grade children. She also discovers her liking for the BDSM lifestyle and is a regular at the local club The Barn.
Kurt has just returned home from an eight year absence to take over running the family ranch after his father's stroke. He rescues Leslie from a mugging and they hook up for an unforgettable one night stand. They run into each other at a masquerade party at The Barn and they agree to an affair. An attempt is made in her life and she goes to stay at his ranch for protection. They catch the bad guy and get their HEA.

Leslie was a witness to a murder, and testified at the trial. She's been threatened, and enters the Witness Protection Program. She's drunk, and gets mugged on her way home from the bar. Kurt rescues her, and gets her home safely. She's not so drunk that she can't make a pass at him, and they have an incredible night together. Kurt's been in Texas, but his father had a stroke, so he's moving back to Montana to take over running the family ranch. Leslie and Kurt both frequent a local establishment called The Barn, a BDSM club. This is one hot and sexy story. But it's also much more - mystery and suspense, action, friendship, club action. Leslie and Kurt sizzle from the first time they're together, all the way to their happy ending.

Our heroine is in witness protection. Our hero rescues her from a mugging and is surprised to later meet her at a BDSM club.

This is book six in the series, but it stands perfectly well on its own. Feel free to start anywhere in the series.

This is an erotic story with elements for BDSM and punishment (particularly spanking), but it also involves a mystery with a bit of intrigue. While not a simple straightforward plot, the story is very well written and easy to read. The characters are good, somewhat stereotyped, but fit the roles nicely and I really liked the chemistry that gradually grew between our characters. I found the story to be engaging and provided a nice weekend of entertainment.

Highly recommended.
