This book had shades of Daniel black with the powers of atom eve from the invincible comics; but it was ultimately disappointing. There was too much sex with not enough plot along with shaky world building. It could have been soo much better.

What the hell was that?!
I didn't even get to the sex part, this book was so bad!
You know books that manage to make you hate the MC? Not because they are morally challenging, or clueless, but because they are bona-fide douchebags you wouldn't want to spend 15 mins with, they are so cringy...

Why would I read a book where this kind of person is the MC?
Because I didn't know...
Now I do.
So now I don't.

I am getting some serious Daniel Black vibes from this book. The way the protagonist uses his magic is kind of like Daniel, but it's not well explained? It just seems like he is doing anything, and he passes it off as his powers.
I don't know if converting energy can do that, maybe it's explained? I'm only a few chapters in.

I was correct. This book draws very heavily from the Daniel Black Series, although I don't think it is as well written. To me, the story relies on the smut to progress. If you removed the smut from Daniel Black, the story would still progress, this book seems to have built the progression around the smut.

I know it's probably backwards reading a smut book looking for an actual story, but I found many a great author and stories that way.

I might read the sequel, but it shows that more effort was placed on developing / explaining the smut, than the protagonist's ability.

I still don't understand how he really does what he does. I can understand if he was a chemist or a physicist, then him altering things at the atomic scale would be grasped more easily, but he admits he doesn't even know atomic theory.

We will see what the future brings.

A fairly good book.

The book was not bad and had a good premise to start with. The book was light on world building but it has promise. I give it a 3.5 out of5 rounded up.

has potential

This is one of those books where you can see the potential for a great story to be told. The main barrier to being great really comes down to editing, this reads like a rough first draft where the connections and transitions a great story makes in a story can be fleshed out and grammatical and spelling errors can be addressed. The author appears to have not had any form of editing done and the book and subsequently the story suffers and finds a ceiling of barely readable and I could not in good consciousness suggest that anyone read this although I will admit I will read the next book in series to see if the author obtained a editor like I said has potential to be a really good story

Needs editing.

Overall story is interesting. The cover said it all. Op Mc who shows up and everything is going his way. But the ending actually answers some questions regarding why. Good story over all. But... The editing is a major pain. Reading a sentence where hand is meant to be head or he is spelled hee. Just throws the flow all off.

Really enjoyed but.....

Really enjoyed it, but editing is seriously needed.
It was very confusing as there was no new line started between each new character speaking. There is potential though

Wow

Just WOW! The ending is such a plot twist. That this story could easily jump from a short 3 book story to a 50 book mega story.

I liked aliked a lot

Totally OP MC check. Hot monster girls check. Isekai without MC knowing what that was, check. Good beginning, middle, and end, check.

I didn't really find any redeeming qualities to this book. The prose was amateurish and awkward. The protagonist who is supposedly a man in his 60s spoke like a middle-schooler from the early 2000s. None of the dialogue felt natural. The plot was uninteresting. I guess the setting was... Fine?

Atomic Mage has narrators who do terrific jobs with other books, but who seem disinterested in this story, a somewhat interesting story, but with poor writing….and an MC and wives who can only be described as sadists. Honestly, lots of harem fantasy stories feature death, revenge killing, battles etc….but here it’s simply sadistic cruelty. I’m not sure why I finished this audiobook, and I certainly don’t intend to listen to the sequel(s).

I will note, however, that the narraters (Marcus Jahn and Maggie Langhorne) have been replaced with a re-release. The new narrators (Matthew Beans, Ophelia Madson) might or might not be better. Unless the re-release also completely rewrites the characters, I’m really not sure what new narration can do to make this a story anyone would want to listen to.

1* - just terrible.

Could be much better if adult times wasn't used as filler

I'm all for adult times in books, but when it's over half the content, it's no longer a fun story, it's just cheap porn. It's annoying because I love the premise and powers, his forced stupidity and obliviousness on a few occasions are annoying though. So far the book is like a not as well done "Daniel Black" series(among my all time book favorites) by E William Brown. Similar powers and set, adults times to, fantasy, fantasy races etc, but the adult times don't overtake the story filling up over half the books. I will say MC in this book comes up with some better uses for the power set, better precautions\safety measures to his body including placement of power generator

It’s ok.

So, typical isekai tensei type story. Protagonist dies and gets sent to a new world where he has amazing new powers. Starts kicking ass and meeting beautiful women and building his harem.

The sex scenes are ok. Not terribly written, but not great either. Trying to picture the scenes with the basilisk lover are a bit difficult. Described as having an ass but that makes the snake lower half images not really work. I guess snake sex is hard to describe.

Decent pacing, but the grammar and spelling errors made it a bit hard to read. Some spots I had to try and figure out what the author wanted to say. An editor would have caught most of these.

Overall, it’s an ok read. Undecided if I’ll continue with the rest of the series.

A western Isekai harem story.

Cade suffers a car accident while visiting his children after the death of his wife.... Only to wake-up in a new world and find his body restored to his youth.... Oh and apparently there is magic now.

In all this was a decent book, but not an outstanding one. The idea of science in a magic setting was cool and made for a cool powerset, but in the end this is a fairly typical Isekai story. Guy dies and is reborn, gains power, finds a harem. Read this novel for the entertainment and the adult content (of wish there was quite a lot), but not necessarily for the thrilling plot.

3 stars.

Could’ve been more…

As the titles states, this could’ve been more then what it became after maybe 20-30% in to the book. Not going to spoil the story but the sudden need to complete the important mission was sideline for a elderly man that you would assume has some since of urgency boils down into self gratification and smut action galore. This is a harem book but the story still needs to be present for it to be readable. I do read harems, yet I skipped half of the book for it being so bizarre and ridiculous.

My Rating System:
5- Perfect for my taste, could not physically stop reading/listening, wanted more afterword.
4- Almost perfect, could not stop reading/listening, probably wanted more afterword.
3- Enjoyed the book, could see others loving it, need to think if I want more.
2- Can see why others might like the book, but I could not, I do not want more.
1- What is this? What went wrong? Why did they do this? This doesn't make any sense! (No idea who it is for but definitely not for me).

[Audiobook Version]

Could have been better.

A lot better than I thought

Despite my dislike for some of the actions taken by none-main characters it was an enjoyable read as unlike some recent books it doesn't give me.a paragraph of how it was happening. Some authors really seem to have a fetish for forced unwilling sex I'm glad Garrett doesn't.

I wanted to like this, I really did.

A good harem book has a solid story interlaced with adult situations. This has adult situation interlaced with weak story. Add in muddled descriptors making it difficult to keep track of what is happening, and badly written combat and you just have a big mess. The instant connections between characters does nothing to help either.

Interesting magic concept

Too much harem not enough focus on the story. The atomic mage concept is awesome and interesting how it starts to play out. Some of the interactions I could do without. Curious enough on the concept to read the next book to see if it gets better.

Focuses to much on Harem

It was interesting at first but then he met his first girl and it went down hill from there. I just couldn't get past his personality change and the way he talks after he meets his first mate.

good start

Not a bad story very interesting story line and mechanics. I would say the “my dear, Cade,ect..” was over used quite a lot and got border line annoying but interesting story overall

Good but...

With the amount of grammatical errors in the the writing, I found myself backtracking a little too often. Overall the story is a big wish fulfillment fantasy, which is kind of what I was looking for. So yeah, good story, but needs some editing.

Tough

Hard to read. Editing is rough. The story seems forced. The flow was off. The mc is just so willing to accept dying.

Naughty but nice

Fun little story of a transplanted MC who developed interesting powers. The sex scenes are rather long but the story progresses well. Good job.

Not a bad story a little bit short on actual story. To much harem building in my opinion. I liked it enough to give book two a try hopefully it has my plotlines less sex
