I'm pretty sure it would be a bad idea to give the Bible anything less than 5 stars. Even if it is Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy! ;-)

In my attempt to read fully, translations of the Bible I am not familiar with, I came across this set on our shelf at home. It is in the New Living Translation. The translation was good and I found it easy going to read. I like the layout of the Immerse books, no chapter and verse, so it reads more like a novel (this is unique to this version of the NLT, other NLT Bibles do have chapter and verse). I also like how this Immerse version breaks up the Bible into small books. So this first one was Beginnings containing Genesis through Deuteronomy. What I didn’t like was the softcover for this book and paper style made it feel cheap and not very sturdy. But it still was God’s Word and I was blessed to read it!

On the face of it, the concept of Immerse: The Reading Bible, is so simple - remove all the chapters, verses and headings from the text, in order to make the Bible read like a book, no distractions, no cutting up the text into smaller pieces.

It is hard to describe just how effective this method is, and what a revelation it can bring to one's Bible reading. Everything flows so much more easily and you find yourself reading on for much longer than normal and taking more in, as there appears to be more cohesion to the story.

Highly recommend you give it a try.

I’ve been reading the Bible for years and years, but this is my first time reading the New Living Translation. It’s also my first time reading it without chapter and verse designations. I’m really enjoying doing a fast read without any distractions. I’ve finished Messiah and now Beginnings. I’m looking forward to reading the rest of the Bible this way. I’ll be moving right into the next volume—Kingdoms.

Immerse: Beginnings from Immerse: The Reading Bible is a beautifully crafted invitation to experience Scripture with fresh eyes and an uncluttered heart. By removing chapter and verse numbers, the text flows like a living narrative rather than a reference manual, allowing readers to encounter Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy as the sweeping, interconnected story they were meant to be. The format feels almost like sitting beside a warm fire while ancient voices recount the earliest chapters of God’s relationship with humanity—raw, majestic, and deeply human. This edition encourages slow reading, curiosity, and emotional engagement, helping both longtime believers and new readers discover renewed wonder in familiar passages. It’s a transformative way to approach the Bible, turning the beginnings of Scripture into a journey rather than an obligation.

This is absolutely amazing!

I have been told before that it's helpful to read the Bible without the chapter and verse numbers, and I should have believed it, but I did not until I actually tried Immerse. It is incredible how much easier it is to read large portions of the Bible at once when it looks like a regular book without the distracting numbers and double columns. And then because you can read more of it at once without getting exhausted right away, you can see all the cool connections that you were missing before.

Highly recommend!!

This is a version of the beginnings of the Bible that reads like a story book covering the first five books of the Bible. Simple English language is used making it easy to read and understand. I will enjoy reading this version of the beginnings of the Bible. There are six books in this set. There is a website for this series, and it provides resources such as a reading plan and a Pastor's guide.

4.5 stars. I personally think that the sections in the back should have preceded the Biblical portion of the book.

The introductions to each book are very helpful. I feel like I am understanding what I read much better in this format.

The NTL translation makes it easier to read the Bible, especially Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy.

I've been reading the bible all my life. I have never read it without without chapter and verse and never realized just how absolutely distracting they are.

Very inventive......

Interesting reading The Beginning of The Bible without any numeric reference. Sometimes, it can be a little confusing, but overall, a Recommended Reading experience. It is just a little different from the 'norm.'
