This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the 6st book in the Heart of Texas series. I hate that this series is said to be a romance book because they are not. It is more suspense then romance, and this book is not a cute romance book by any means. There is some hot and steamy moments in this book. The characters in this book is great, and this book is very well-written. There is a big twist at the end, and I have to say I really did not see it coming. If you like a lot of action and suspense with a little romance then this is the book for you. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (St. Martin's Press) or author (Donna Grant) via NetGalley, so I can give honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.
Loads of action and a sweet romance. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ One thing about this series, I wouldn’t go into thinking that it is simply a cowboy romance. These books, and this story, is so much more than that. This is a story about a group of ex-military guys that go all in to protect their own.
This book is not as much on the cowboy part as it is on the ex-military part. Protecting their own is number one for these guys and Jace is especially all in for this romance when we swears he saw Taryn in town again.
Grant loads this one full of secrets, long-lost loves, and a fat second chance romance wrapped around a crazy plot that drips of testosterone! This is a romantic suspense with a wild twist at the end that really blows your mind about family and friends!
Grant balances the right amount of romance to suspense which turns this book into an engrossing easy read that totally satisfies all of your senses! While Taryn was not a favorite character at certain points for me, Jace was a hottie that perfectly fit the bill. Kind, loving, uber protective, and a bit of a bad ass!
I can't believe we are now on Book 6 in Donna Grant's Heart of Texas seies! The fans of the series are going to be very happy to revisit Clearview and see the familiar characters. There's also a new love story- this time it's Jace's turn...
Jace's friends are worried about him. It's been five years since his girlfriend Taryn left him. He never got a closure. All she left was a hurried note...His family all disappeared leaving their possessions behind. But Jace just keeps thinking about Taryn. Sometimes there is really just One woman for you and that's it. Now it seeems that his imagination and his broken heart have been playing tricks with him- he thinks he might have seen her in a car in Clearview.
Five years ago Taryn's life turned into a nightmare Taryn is tired and scared and can only think of one man who has never let her down- Jace. Can the book be read as a standalone? Yes, Donna Grant provides a brief recap of the challenges the previous five couples faced on their way to happiness. Having said that, I think at this stage it is almost too much of the backstory for a new reader to enjoy the book fully- it is better to start from the earlier books. The series is all about friendships, loyalty, families you are born into and families you make. It is about strong, protective men and strong, independent women.Loyalty is her main characteristic and, to be honest, we don't get to know her that much beyond this. Jace is clearly the One for her as she is for him. After all, they spent five years pining for each other...There are some very steamy scenes, once they get back together, so if this is not your kind of thing, you can skip them. I would have prefered a bit more dialogue, more emotional catch-up, but I guess there are different ways of showing you care.
The book is fast paced and there's a lot of action, especially towards the end, which is understandable, since Jace and his friends are all either ex-military or are in the law enforcement. There are a few twists that I didn't expect at all. If you have been following the series, you are probably going to read the book in one sitting, and then will start waiting for the next story. Ryan's? or perhaps Ryan's mysterious cousin is going to get his own book?
Thank you to NetGalley and St.Martin's for the ARC provided in exchange for an honest opinion. 3.5
I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
While this book is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone.
Jace is still trying to struggle with a broken heart since Taryn walked away five years ago. His friends try to help him move on, but he just can't. He thinks his dreams of her are feeling too real but realizes he's not dreaming because he spots her and soon they are reunited. Jace should feel angry at Taryn for leaving him, but she explains to him that her life is in danger and still is and she may need his help. Jace's history with the military could prove to be an advantage given what Taryn is up against and he soon recruits his friends who also have special military skills.
Jace and Taryn's reunion confirms that their feelings never changed and they vow to do everything they can to build a future together, but they have a big dangerous hurdle to deal with. There is a surprise twist to the plot that adds to the intensity of the plotline.
I rtead this story in one sitting and it had a good pace with suspense and urgency. I'm not sure how much "cowboy" was in the storyline, but it was still entertaining.
When I finished LOOKING FOR A COWBOY, the only book I had read in this series until now, I couldn't wait to get Jace's story. There was so much about him that intrigued me and I needed to know more. Well, all of my question have been answered and I am one happy cookie right now.
Jace hasn't had it easy the last several years...and that's being nice about it. Being in the military really did a number on him but what haunts him the most is when his girlfriend up and left him in the middle of the night with nothing but a single text in the last five years. Jace loved Taryn with everything he had but as he drinks his nights away it's becoming clear that he needs to move on.
Taryn left with her family years ago but she's back in her hometown with high hopes of breaking free from the hell she's been living in for the last five years. She will do anything it takes to break the bonds for her freedom but will she put Jace in the line of fire? Can she even stop him?
I loved Jace and Taryn together, they had great chemistry and worked well together. This story had a major twist that I can honestly say I didn't see coming and that is a rarity. I have added the previous books to my TBR shelf and I'm not sure if this is the last of the series or not but there are a couple of other characters I would love stories of but I can see the author breaking them apart for a different series so only time will tell if that happens.
If you enjoy Western/Cowboy Romances, Romantic Suspense's, or Second Chance at Love Romances I would recommend this book to you.
Happy Reading!!!
**I have voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Readers Copy of this book for my Blog, Nadine's Obsessed with Books** Blog post will be live on 4/26/21
What I love about most standalone series is that you get a great group of side characters that follow along in each book until most of them become a main character. It helps get me more and more invested in the series because I want to see all my favorite people get their happily ever after.
Jace has been one of those recurring characters. I've enjoyed him as a side character and I really liked him as a main character. His love for Taryn never went away even years after she just upped and left town on him. His dedication to her is always what I'm looking for.
Taryn was put in a very tough spot when she disappeared and I really didn't see how she could have done anything else. Sometimes second chance love irritates me because of the reason of the break up but that is not the case in this situation. Actually, I ended up being very angry on Taryn's behalf when a few truths come out.
Now there were a few unbelievable things about this story, but it is a story. Besides those things, I did enjoy the overall plot. The strong heroine who has survived for years but at a point of desperation she goes to the one man who she can count on the most. The fact that Jace didn't even hesitate to step in and was willing to do anything he could to get her out of the danger and back in his life. It was all a very compelling love story.
Well, I was looking forward to Jace's story, but it just dragged in places plus I wanted to know all of his back story from his time in the service. Then there was all the drama with Taryn. I just wanted to slap her upside the head several times. There was no lack of heat, sex, drama or angst between these two. There's lots of help from all the previous peeps, and there are a couple more guys to get HEAs.
I have read several of Donna Grant's books in this series, so I was prepared for the hot ex-special-forces cowboys coming to the rescue of someone in a tough place. What I was not prepared for but loved was the intensity of this story! Jace has been torn up for the past 5 years or so since Taryn left town one night with her family and no explanation, just as Jace was going to propose. When she shows up again at his door is when the story takes off. I won't say any more other than I was so drawn in that I had to take several deep breaths when the story was done because I think I was holding my breath a good portion of the time I was reading. Excellent, excellent read!
A Cowboy Kind of Love by Donna Grant is the sixth novel in the Heart of Texas series. This romantic suspense offered plenty of heat and surprises.
This story belongs to Jace Wilder, and while this is sixth in a series, each book has its own storyline and romance.
Jace is a former Marine Raider, who had his heart broken when the girl he planned to marry left without so much as a goodbye. With the help of his friends he has been trying to move on with his life… but there have been stumbling blocks, like the anniversary of the night they first met. When Taryn Hillman returns, she comes seeking help and the story she tells has Jace calling his friends.
I loved returning to Clearview, Texas and seeing the men and women whose stories I know. Jace is a sweetie who has had a tough time. This second chance romance pulled at your heartstrings. Taryn’s story for leaving is a dark one, and she and her sister are in grave danger.
It was fun seeing the gang come together to aid Jace and Tarayn. Grant delivered plenty of suspense and did so while throwing in twists, secrets and jaw dropping discoveries.
Despite the incredibly fast-paced tempo of this story, Grant made this second chance romance feel genuine. She delivered heat, tender moments and allowed the reader to feel connected.
A Cowboy Kind of Love was my most anticipated release in the series and it was just as amazing as I thought it would be.
Jace Wilder has been trying to rebuild his life since Taryn Hillman, the love of his life, walked out of it. When Taryn suddenly returns to Clearview, Jace's world is upended. And after Jace learns Taryn is in danger, there's no way he can stay away. Taryn's life has never been the same since she left Clearview and she's been trying to fix it ever since. With a shot at finally getting free of the danger that has plagued her since she left, Taryn goes to the man she left behind for help. But when Taryn and Jace learn that Taryn is in more danger than she realized, they'll have to decide how far they're willing to go to have a second chance at love.
Jace has been my favorite character since we met him, so I was very happy to finally get his book. Jace and Taryn were very much in love before family issues forced Taryn out of town with only enough time for her to shoot Jace a goodbye text. Due to the abrupt and forced end of their relationship, neither of them ever really got over one another. I thought the scene where Taryn explained what happened was well done and I liked that Jace didn't hold a grudge against Taryn for something that wasn't her fault. The chemistry between these two is off the charts and the steamy scenes are fantastically done. The problem Taryn found herself involved in was interesting and I found the resolution to be suspenseful and overall very well done.
A Cowboy Kind of Love is the sixth and, for now, final book in the Heart of Texas series. Each book works well as a standalone and this one is no exception. The plot is self-contained and doesn't rely on anything that happened in previous books. However, this series does have an extensive cast of characters so I do recommend reading the other books before reading this one. The various couples all make appearances in A Cowboy Kind of Love and you'll have a much better idea who everyone is if you've read the other books.
Overall A Cowboy Kind of Love was a fantastic read and I highly recommend this series if you're looking for a some great cowboy romances with suspense elements.
**I received an advance copy of this book from Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.**
Well, I was looking forward to Jace's story, but to me it was just meh.
It dragged quite a bit, and I just couldn't with Taryn. I hated how he was still hung up on her after she up and left. I hated that whe it was about her, she turned up and dragged him into her crap - then ever 2.3 seconds was saying "I don't want you to get involved in this" - girl, please *insert eye roll*
Jace is way, and i mean >i>waaaaaytoo good for Taryn, and I hate that he gets sucked in by her again, and again, and again. Dear God man, run as far and as fast as you can!
I did love seeing the guys and gals from the previous books, and this one really was the anomoly in the series for me.
When I finished LOOKING FOR A COWBOY, the only book I had read in this series until now, I couldn't wait to get Jace's story. There was so much about him that intrigued me and I needed to know more. Well, all of my question have been answered and I am one happy cookie right now.

If you enjoy Western/Cowboy Romances, Romantic Suspense's, or Second Chance at Love Romances I would recommend this book to you.
A Cowboy Kind of Love was a very interesting romance. While its not my favorite of the series, it was delightful and really enjoyed finally getting to Jace's book. The set up was so different than I expected it to be but really was endeared by such a conflicting set up for the heroine. She is really in the tough spot and liked seeing a morally grey heroine, those just aren't that common in this type of romance. There is plenty of suspense elemented within the plot and with Donna Grant, you know that the plot will have some unique twists and it most definitely did. I did NOT expect the reveal in the third act, that completely turned my world upside down. It was the last thing I would have expected Donna Grant to write but definitely appreciate what she was doing here. It really added much more complexity to the plot than you would even expect. We get plenty of friendship vibes between all the characters involved although I totally think Grant could have done a couple more books to this series. And the romance was really interesting, the heroine really had to work with Jace to redeem herself as she wronged him and its definitely deserved. While she was in a bad spot, she wronged him in the procecss and respected that Donna Grant had her go through the motions of redeeming herself and that Jace didn't just jump up and immediately believe her or forgive her so easily, she really had to work at it to yearn that forgiveness.
Overall I had a fun time with this one and now need to decide where to go with this author's massive backlist.
I do like my cowboy romances, and I do like Donna Grant's romantic suspense ones. The last one was intense and brutal, this one was pretty brutal too, but luckily that was most in the past.
Jace is on the road on becoming an alcoholic. He drinks too much, he misses the girlfriend who suddenly disappeared years ago, and his past in the military is always there to haunt him. What I loved about him is that the minute she does show up he is not bitter and argues for days. He just wants her back again.
Taryn has been gone for years, the reason why is dark. And she is desperate to get out. I admired her spirit and her will to just go on and on. Even if it is a dangerous and lonely road.
Then they meet again, and it is like those years apart never happened. Yes it was fast, but this was a second chance. They never wanted to part in the first place, of course it happens fast.
And then there is the danger following her, luckily Jace has a bunch of awesome friends who all are highly trained and willing to help.
I enjoyed it, it felt really light and I listened to it fast.
Estrella is always good, her voice makes the pages just fly by, and she has great voices for everyone
A Cowboy Kind of Love is a second chance of love romantic suspense story and the 6th in the Sons of Texas series. Jace Wilder is having a hard time getting over his heartbreak when Taryn left 5 years ago. Now she is back and asking for help in a very dangerous situation she finds herself in. Jace listens to Taryn’s explanation of what she’s had to do and endure these last 5 years for her family, and will try to extract her from the clutches of a drug lord. Between his and his friends military experience, they devise a plan to help both Taryn and Jace, and maybe they have a chance at a life together.
This was a riveting suspense story and I was engrossed to see how they were going to get out of this mess. The odds weren’t good and it took a lot of planning to get the right people in the right place in order to pull it off. What made the story sweeter was the love these two had for one another and still have 5 years later. The romantic scenes were smoldering and broke up the tension they were facing. There are a lot of characters that are involved in this story, and they have their own stories, but it isn’t hard to follow. It definitely can be read as a stand-alone. Donna Grant’s writing is one of the best for drawing you in to the drama, suspense and the building of a loving relationship. There may not be much of a cowboy in Jace but he definitely has the values of one. It is a story that can’t be missed.
If you enjoy second chance romance then this book will hit the spot. If you want steamy romance then this story has plenty of that. Fancy the idea of hot, ex service guys coming to the rescue ? Yep you get that too ! Although if I'm brutal it doesn't really stand out as a cowboy story but maybe that's because it has more of an urban setting so a lot less of any sort of ranch life. What you definitely get is a couple who never stopped loving each other fighting for love . There does seem to be a lot of nasty, bad guys in Texas because every book in this series has the characters tripping over new ones ! This book like it's predecessors has hot romance, suspense, action and of course those gorgeous military types who always have each other's backs. If I'm honest I didn't really like the heroine and at times I found it difficult to believe that she was apparently so successful at her 'job' that keeping her working was so important. However I really enjoyed the twist at the end although obviously my lips are sealed. So this is book six and as it ends there are other characters introduced so clearly there are at least two or even three Heart of Texas books still to come so saddle up because there's still riding to do ! This voluntary take is of a copy I requested from Netgalley and my thoughts and comments are honest and I believe fair
What can I say about this book...loved and loved. I welcomed the opportunity to read book six in this series., I've become a fan of Donna Grant after reading books 4 & 5 ,and A Cowboy Kind of Love did not disappoint. The story was enjoyable and well-written. It had just enough suspense, romance, and intimacy that I look forward to reading in my romantic novels. Ms. Grant did a wonderful job of keeping my interest from start to finish. A very nice comfy read on my snowed-in day.
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for this digital ARC in exchange for my fair and honest review.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. When I requested 🎧︎A Cowboy Kind of Love for, I did not know it was the sixth novel in the Heart of Texas series. Fortunately, it works well as a standalone. However, now that I have been introduced to this world, and its characters, I have an intense need to read the previous books in the series. In this installment, readers are treated to a second chance romance filled with suspense and passion.
🎧︎A Cowboy Kind of Love is Jace Wilder and Taryn Hillman’s story. At the start of the story, Jace is struggling with a broken heart. The love of his life left town without saying goodbye, and he had no means of contacting her. Since then, he’s been drinking himself into oblivion, trying to numb the pain. The situation worsened whenever an anniversary of an event in their relationship came around. At the point when he recognizes he needs to take control of his life and move on, Taryn returns. The explanation she provides for her sudden disappearance has Jace scrambling to help her.
Taryn left with her family five years ago for an unknown location in the middle of the night. She returned to Clearview, Texas, seeking help to escape her hellish life of the past five years. She didn’t intend for Jace to get involved, but circumstances caused her to seek his help to escape the hellish situation, which will place them and their friends in danger.
Tarryn’s heart was in the right place regarding her family. Loyal to a fault where they are concerned, but her blind loyalty placed her in a precarious position. Even when things stared her in the face, she held on, hoping for a change for the better.
The chemistry between Jace and Tarryn sizzled and popped. They made a great team. Their romance felt authentic. Despite the years apart, they easily picked up from where they left off. Their feelings for each other never faded. Although it surprised me that Jace never once questioned the veracity of Tarryn’s story concerning the reason for her disappearance.
I loved the bonds of friendship portrayed in the story. Jace friends never hesitated to offer their help to Tarryn, despite the danger involved. This fast-paced and engaging story kept me on my toes. The story delivered lots of suspense and jaw dropping twists. One of those twists shocked me beyond belief.
Rebecca Estrella did a great job in narrating 🎧︎A Cowboy Kind of Love. The story features a vast array of characters and she handled them well. I loved her male and female voices and how well her tone captured the scenes, especially the emotional ones. This is my first time listening to her and I would definitely listen to her again.
A Cowboy Kind of Love is the sixth title in the Heart of Texas series – and one I’ve been waiting for since I’ve had a definite crush on Jace from the beginning. He’s been through so much especially in the past five years or so since Taryn up and left town with no clear explanation. The fact that she’s not been around or in contact with him since doesn’t change how the heart feels and his heart may be broken but it still belongs to his forever love.
Taryn broke my heart, not because she left Jace but because of what she’s been through these past few years… and what she’s done and seen in that time. She’s back in town to seek help from the one person she trusts but she’s bringing a truckload of trouble with her and nothing is going to be the same for this couple again. A second chance? You could say that, but also a deepening of the love that already exists, an acceptance of who they are now, and a love that still burns hot and bright in spite of the time apart.
It’s really hard to not give away possible spoilers right now for I want to talk about this book. But, I’ll behave. A Cowboy Kind of Love is intense, full of dangerous situations, brings us back in touch with a lot of familiar couples/characters, and brings closure to Jace’s past and a wide-open door to a happy ever after for this man and woman who so deserve it after all they’ve been through. A bit of cowboy romance, a bit more of Romantic Suspense, and is chock-full of characters who will make your heart sing. I had so much fun with Taryn and Jace – and if you love a really good story with danger, true love, family, and a couple to root for, then you’ll feel right at home here. There are a few twists that I did not see coming and that is the type of story that will always grab my attention and keep it. I certainly hope there will be more stories in the Heart of Texas series.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
I just really love the suspense in this series. Both Jace and Taryn have traumatic pasts, one that had Taryn and her family abruptly leaving town. Now shes back and comes back to Jace for help. I kid you not, the past and current problems Taryn has to deal with are extremely heavy that I cannot imagine anyone in her situation. Jace is totally devoted and will do anything for Taryn. This was definitely a fast paced action packed book. I would HIGHLY recommend this series for anyone who are afraid to read "cowboy" romances. I would emphasize "light" on the cowboy and "heavy" on suspense (ex-military style). Read in order for the best experience as characters cross over, but can be read as a standalone.
I received this book at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
First I want to say that I have a small group of authors that are on my automatic buy list because they never disappoint. Donna Grant is one of those authors. Her books are always so much more than romance, her heroes are strong yet vulnerable and her heroines are strong, independent and relatable.
A Cowboy Kind of Love is a second chance romance. Jace lost his soulmate 5 years ago when her family moved and she broke up with him via text. Because he never had any answers why, he was never able to truly let her go. She was always in his head and heart. Her memories were slowly destroying him.
Taryn became her families caretaker after her mother died. All she wanted was to save them, even if it meant losing the only man she ever loved. Now everyone is gone but her sister. She'll do anything to save her, even by risking it all and seeking help from the only man who's ever held her heart. The man she left to save. The one who gave her the only true happiness she'd ever known.
This book has become my favorite in the series because it contains angst, good vs evil, lasting love, and twist and turns that I honestly didn't see coming. I couldn't put it down, yet at the same time, I didn't want it to end.
Would highly recommend. I mean, hot cowboy, action, adventure, and an HEA, what is not to recommend!
This book can be read as a stand-alone, but many of the characters are reoccurring characters and some have their own books as well. So that being said, I always recommend starting with book 1 and for me, they are all worth it!
What more could you ask for then a chance to mend a broken heart, get answers to questions you didn’t even know needed asking, and finding that your friends are just as invested in the outcome as you? Well, we’re about to find out as we see Jace, struggling to recover from a broken heart after the woman he loved skipped town with no answers, no reasons that he could find, and no real goodbye.
Taryn was between a rock and a hard place, with a need to protect her family at all costs when she left town years ago. But things didn’t slow down for her, in fact, things got far worse and there’s no one she’d rather turn to than Jace. But will he help – and how much of what she’s struggled to deal with on her own can he be trusted to help with?
Enter friends, some solid military tactics, a realization that true love and feelings never quite die, and Jace’s need to repair his broken heart with the one who always held the key. We see that it was circumstances not the relationship that separated the two, and their feelings, indeed their connection, is just as strong. With lots of answers, plenty of heart and steam to rival a sauna, Grant takes us through a second chance story at a love reunited. While I read this without having read others in the series, I wasn’t lost or confused, and can see how readers of the series would appreciate the other characters returning to visit, offer words of wisdom, friendship and support.
I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.
Thanks go to the publisher and Net-Galley for the complimentary electronic copy of A Cowboy Kind of Love by Donna Grant. I voluntarily agreed to read and review this book prior to publication. My opinions are my own and nothing has influenced my rating.
A Cowboy Kind of Love is a well written western romance with engaging characters and an emotionally charged plot. The pacing pulled me into the story from the first page to the last. Ms. Grant adds greatly to the story with her suspenseful scenes!
Taryn Tillman is the heroine in this tale. She hasn’t been back to Clearview since she took off five years ago. I enjoyed her character a great deal, even though I questioned several of her decisions.
Jace Wilder is a great hero, and I quickly became vested in his character. He’s ex-military and hasn’t forgotten how to plan or how execute a covert operation. His loyalty and love for Taryn is amazing, even though I questioned why he was still carrying a torch for her after so many years with no contact.
The romance between Taryn and Jace heats up fast, and they pick up where they left off. I enjoyed them as a couple, but I struggled with believing they both fell into each other’s arms so easily after five years. Jace gets over his anger and hurt very fast. Nonetheless, I did want them to find their happy ending.
If you enjoy contemporary romances with a good bit of action and nail-biting suspense, then you will love A Cowboy Kind of Love as much as I did. I’ve enjoyed the Heart of Texas series. Happy reading!
I have read several in this series and I think this is probably my favorite.
Jace has a painful history and was a POW when captured serving in the military. He thought he had found love with Taryn until her family moved during the night five years ago and she let him know she was gone via text. He was devastated and was still hoping she would return to him.
Taryn had loved Jace from the moment she met him. The two years she had with Jace was not nearly enough but she had to protect her family and in order to do that, she couldn't contact Jace. She desperately needed his help, even though he must hate her for leaving him the way she did. Could she make him understand that she still loved him but she had to save her sister from a murderer and she needed his help to do that?
I loved the story in this book and I especially loved how all of Jace's friends rallied around he and Taryn to provide the support, even at the risk of their lives. They have done this is all the books. The group of friends and family in this book is like no other. They are fiercely loyal and willing to take risks to save the ones they love. My one criticism of this book is the foul language and descriptive sex scenes. I think the book doesn't need it to make a wonderful story.
I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.
There is so much I want to say about this story but can’t because it would all be spoilers. There is intrigue, there is friendship – the kind where friends stand in front of you to take a bullet for you, and there is an enduring love that won’t quit – no matter how many years they have been apart.
A Cowboy Kind of Love is a standalone but we’ve met Jace and his friends in previous books. However, this is truly Jace’s story. Most of the “boys” are former government operatives so we are talking pretty clandestine ops. Taryn is an old girlfriend of Jace’s who has disappeared for five long years. She is living thru the middle of a many-year nightmare of a life.
It will take all Jace has, along with all his friends and their families, to get Taryn out of her life nightmare but it is an amazing story that will take your breath away. Love, love, love Jace! He is perfect for Taryn.
This romantic suspense series continues with the story of Jace. For five years, Jace has been mourning the disappearance of Taryn. He had no idea why she left or what happened to her. When they meet again, it is because Taryn is desperate and badly needs Jace's help. I LOVED that he didn't spend a lot of time being angry and resentful - he just helped! Well, not 'just'.
This book has a lot of action, and appearances and support from characters in the previous 5 books of the series. I suspect some other characters will get their spotlight in future books -I hope so anyway.
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for letting me read an ARC - it was an exciting book!
This was a fast and suspenseful read that reminded me of Maya Banks KGI series - but a little less steamy. I like the friendship between Jace and his friends. I loved how they rallied around Taryn and worked tirelessly to get her out of her situation. I struggled a little with the fast change from mad to in love but when it's a second chance, sometimes that works out faster than you expect! rounded up from 3.5
A gripping story about second chances and the strength of love!
From start to finish the emotions dripped off the pages through Grants beautiful words! I could feel the pain of lost love but the elation of a second chance changed the flow and upped the angst of this story!
This was a romantic suspense story with a dark, and dramatic storyline that has some action and surprising twists. I enjoyed it but was expecting a cowboy story rather than a special ops rescue to take down a drug lord.
Thank you to St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
