Shumuti, Sara and Aurielle had been sent to Attaching to discover what was behind dangerous amounts of Magic use in the region. Now, they find themselves surprised by not one, but two new members to add to their party. The only complication being that one of them is held captive by the King of Attaching, whose intent remains unknown.A new threat is stirring in the bare and depleted region of Nimaz that is beyond what the King’s army can face. One that uses Magic carelessly and is becoming increasingly more interested in the Magic-rich landscapes on their side of the river.Though she has been taught for years to use Magic sparingly, Shumuti is beginning to realise that it might now be the only thing that can protect Meteorath. She must gather her new companions and teach them how to control their Magic before spring arrives.

Readers’ Comments
“Started reading this book before realising it was book two of a set. So, I went and read book one (which I loved) then re-started book two. Personally, I enjoyed the first book (Autumn) more, but this is still good. There are new characters which I enjoyed getting to know. I also though the pacing was excellent. I will now try to find the third book!” Female reader, aged 15
“A fantasy novel with a compelling plot and fully fleshed out characters. The second half is stronger with a sort of sad ending, setting the story up for the third book. I think the author´s a talented writer, but I think her best book hasn´t been written yet.” Male reader, aged 16
“Better pacing in this novel than in Autumn. It´s faster, particularly towards the end. If you like magic books filled with characters you´ll really get to know, this is for you. I think the author´s best at setting the scene. I think she needs to work on dialogue and making it sound less wooden.” Female reader, aged 16
“I´d recommend this book to readers aged 13 – 16 who enjoy books like Harry Potter. I loved the complex magical world in this story. Best character by far is Shumuti.” Male reader, aged 15

A compelling story

-I would like to thank the author for the eARC-

WARNING: POTENTIAL SPOILERS FOR THE PREVIOUS BOOK IN THE FOLLOWING PARAGRAPH
Shumuti, Sara and Aurielle are investigating about dangerous magic in Attaching. One of their new companions is helf captive by the King of Attaching, and a new threat is building in Nimaz. With enemies everywhere and magic as an ally and foe, the protagonists will have to get creative and be resilient to free their friend and finish their mission.

After finishing Autumn, I knew I had to continue on with this series. And I don't regret it. There's just something about this world that I find fascinating. The magic system is really cool and interesting and the place it takes in the story quite unique. As for the plot, it was truly compelling, even more than the first book because there was more action and the pace was a bit quicker. I really enjoyed the writing, as I had before, that is very immersive and addictive. The pages turned on their own and I didn't even see time pass as I read. The characters are very realistic and therefore relatable, and even if there are a lot of POVs, it's easy to follow because the writing adapts to some extent and the protagonists are very different from one another. The story was full of twists, danger, battles and magic, a perfect mix for a good epic fantasy story. It reminds me of Lord of the Rings, but a version for younger people because it's easier to understand, and I truly loved it. I'm excited to read the newt book in the series to learn even more about the characters and what happens to them next.

I recommend for fans of fantasy stories with a gripping plot and immersive story.

"I have come to hope that perhaps you may stand a chance of succeeding where I fear I cannot."

Winter seamlessly picked up right where Autumn left off. Once again I was pulled in by the fast-paced plot and complex world of Magic. As the story advanced I enjoyed learning more about each of the main characters and how their different personalities responded to the challenges throughout the book. I also loved reading the sections when the Guardians were off completing different missions and I could see their individual thought processes (split perspective chapters are always a winner in fantasy books!).

Winter ended on an epic battle scene which I loved because it was an exciting finish but hated because now I'm itching to find out what happens next and how the characters deal with the tragic aftermath of the battle... I also have a few theories about Dagaz and his links to the girls... can't wait for the arrival of Spring!

I have enjoyed book 2 and certainly looking forward to book 3. Characterization is strong especially in regards to each characters relationship with one another. Seglan is a father who figure to various characters pushing the narrative smoothly. Its not hard to follow and yet I find myself being part of the adventure even enjoying the characters having conversation or checking out market stalls. In my mind I get taken away with all characters.

What a fantastic continuation of the story! The final scenes are real heart in your mouth moments. I'll avoid spoilers but the pace really ramps up in this one with plenty of real drama and action, tonnes of character development and further exploration of the world. I need to carry on reading this story
