I received this book through the Amazon Vine program in exchange for an honest review.

This book was around 3.5 stars for me.

There is some good advice, especially for networking remotely. There's also interesting thoughts around how to approach people when you're nervous and preparing to network. There isn't any acknowledgement around privilege and race. There's an entire section on mimicking other people to make them more comfortable and a lot about how important it is to be perceived how you want to be perceived by people and statements that you have control over that but we know women and people of color are often negatively perceived by others regardless of their actions or dress so that isn't really helpful information. It's also weird to get advice on being authentic while also being told to literally do what other people are doing.

There's some helpful information in this book but it's definitely geared toward people who are white and doing white collar jobs.

Introverts, or any shy person, is likely to be uncomfortable with networking. And networking is a critical component of business development and career progression. This easy to read book has tactical and practical steps to up your networking game in real life and online. The recommendations are solid, but not game changing innovative. What is most useful, however, is that the book is easy to read and addresses this issue head on with practical and actionable advice. Worth a look.

Great Networking Tips

I had never heard of D.A. (Debra) Benton, but the title of the book grabbed my attention because it perfectly described a personal growth area of mine. The book did not disappoint. Highly recommend. I read it for free on Kindle Unlimited, and liked it so much that I plan on buying it.

I liked this book a lot! It had a lot of good simple approachable tips for networking if you tend to lean more towards being introverted. It also brings up great points of why networking is important and the value of putting yourself out there. The reason I docked a star off is because there were some grammar errors often enough that it was a little distracting but still a great read!

Some good advice, but nothing groundbreaking. The writer has a nice flow. I personally didn’t love how the social media networking chapter was presented, but that could just be me. The rest of the chapters were good.
