My new standalone UKYA novel is here, and gathering five-star reviews and award nominations!Angels is the LGBTQ+ YA story you've been waiting for: friendship, identity, attraction, disasters ... and finding your wings.
Award-winning YA author and passionate YA reader. Always looking for the next great YA novel, whether it's a dystopia with an awesome female lead, a historical adventure, or a contemporary High School drama.
SF and dystopia are my comfort zones, but I'll step outside my happy place in pursuit of a good story. I have a book-buying habit, and a large library at home (I think of it as a portal to other worlds). I love physical books, and curling up in front of the fire to read. I firmly believe that there is no such thing as too many books - just not enough book shelves.
Great short story following on from the novella 'Making Trouble'. This story contains spoilers for Making Trouble, so I strongly recommend that you read that one first! The author is kindly giving it away for free on the Taller Books website.
Once again, Churcher manages to give you a completely different view of characters that you think you already know. Set against the backdrop of a dystopian near-future UK, this entire series will keep you hooked, make you think, and force you to continually reassess your perspective.
Lost Cause tells the behind-the-scenes story of Rob, one of the minor characters from Making Trouble. A tale about remorse, regret, and redemption, it cleverly explores the complexities of human behaviour and how sometimes you can find yourself on the wrong side. Tense and superbly written, for a short story it packs a powerful punch and is a worthy addition to the Battleground series.
First off, and again, read Making Trouble first, because this gives away the ending and otherwise doesn't make much sense. That, said, it's a really great look at Rob's side of that story. Every new piece of this series makes the whole thing that much richer. You're in for another treat. Trust me.
