The golden age of the military has passed, and war is now carried out by spies. Klaus, an agent with a perfect record but a difficult personality, has formed a special team to carry out an “impossible” mission with a 90% failure rate. Problem is…the ones he's chosen are a bunch of pretty girls with no experience!?
Meh. This was just OK for me. I feel like Spy Family makes me want more spy manga. I also think this was a cover buy. This could end up going somewhere, but I don't think I'm going to stick around to find out. Please let me know in the comments if I'm wrong. I will certainly give something another chance if I hear that it just takes a little time to pick up the pace.
Couldn’t comprehend what was going on throughout this entire book? I couldn’t even give a summary if i needed to. The characters were cute and the illustrations were really good but this book honestly didn’t make much sense.
A world consumed in silent warfare, a group of outcast girls, and one master spy’s plan to take on the deadliest of missions.
The only problem; how to teach these girls to unlock their potential when their master teacher cannot convey even the simplest of lessons. With wit & tenacity, this found family discovers exactly what it is to work as a team & understand their own individual abilities. Led by their stunning & fearless teacher, an epic journey begins to unfold.
Punctuated by grin worthy moments & heartfelt sentiment in equal turns, this was a fun manga with excellent art & entertaining storyline. Worth continuing.
I read this in the hopes that it would become another beloved series like Spy x Family. However, I didn't find it as engaging as Spy x Family. Lily, aka Flower Garden, wants to become the best spy in the world, but she's a washout. She doesn't have the skills to make it, but when she's given the opportunity to join an "elite squad," she takes it. However, she is only one of several characters who aren't true spy material. Their instructor Klaus tries to teach them lessons and invites them to work together to deceive and get the better of him, but things don't go as planned, and they tip their hand every time.
I wanted to like it but found it just gave me an "it's okay, but..." vibe. The illustrations are really cool, but the plot doesn't grab me. I'm sad to admit this because it has all the perfect elements of becoming a much loved series, but it somehow fell flat for me.
A band of flops who failed out of spy school are now on a secret mission-- one that they thought that had the highest rate of death among the spies, but what they found at the mansion was a melancholy spymaster who engages them with their supposed talents to try to outwit him.
While they don't know what the actual mission is just yet, it seems like the first test is around the spymaster himself. Code name Flower Garden is the lead character and the girl who thinks she's got all of the skills, but she's shut down pretty quickly but won't give up.
Entertaining enough. I might read one or more volumes just to see where it's heading but it's nothing like Spy x Family.
A class of (female) spy school "drop outs" are put together on to accomplish what will basically a suicide mission in 9 months, where "Elite spies have a 9 in 10 chance of fatality." Their teacher calls himself the greatest spy in the world and aims to train them so as not to lose any of them. In part a slice of life story, in part a coming of age story for these spies, with an undertone of mystery being what will the mission be and why were they are chosen and who exactly is their teacher? So far, it's interesting.
2⭐️ I did a blind date with a book at the bookstore for the first time, and it was manga 🧍🏽♀️ nothing against it, it just isn’t my favorite genre.
Regardless, the premise was very interesting, but the plot went absolutely nowhere. We learn little to nothing about Lily’s past at the spy academy, and we spend the entire book reading about the girls trying to “outspy” Klaus. I know the “impossible mission” comes later on in the series, but this book should’ve had more of an attention grabber to keep readers engaged for the next books.
This feels a bit like Assassination Classroom. A group of students angling to defeat their teacher. Here, the goal is to improve their skills so they won't fail an upcoming difficult (but apparently not terribly time sensitive) spy mission. It's fine, but with the much lower stakes, less interesting antagonist, and less engaging protagonists, I don't think this will quite live up to the earlier series.
Interested enough to wrap up the first part of series since it's just 3 volumes and my library has them all available. If I'll continue the series after that I'm not sure. It seems to me from what I can google/wikipedia myself to know that the series is in multiple parts (3 so far it seems) by different artists which is defintely gonna be a bit of a pet peeve, aside it also gives off some prejudice against the storyline itself. And so far it is just middle of the road content.
this manga was boring even though the whole premise was to try and be better then your spy teacher. it’s probably better as an anime, but as a manga i was not a fan. however it’s not one star because i had different expectations. I also thought it was a cover grab in the sense that it was a teacher x student romance, but he was more of a father figure to her. so that parts on me. Overall two stars. next time I’ll do research.
This is one of the reasons why I don't read a series until I have 3 volumes. Because im not 100% sure how I feel about this one, it had some interesting aspects that could be good but if I went off the first volume I might have been 50/50 weather to continue or not.
The story was a little over the place but it has me hooked. These 8 girls have been chosen to be on an elite squad. Their teacher tells them they have to beat him and then they can take on a mission. I’m curious as to why these girls were chosen to become spies..
An interesting enough start to the series, but the cast is so big we barely get to know anybody in any depth and the plot is very vague and scattered. I probably won't continue the series but can see why people would want to. I feel this was more of a cover buy than anything else.
The art lacks polish and they just ignored the biggest twist from the first novel… (honestly, the main reason I picked up the manga was to see how that twist would be played)
This wasn’t quite what I was expecting going in. There were too many characters to really keep up with, and none that really stood out and kept me wanting to continue with this series. I think the idea was interesting, and I do wish I would have enjoyed it more, because I liked the idea of this spy school for girls no one else wanted and giving them the chance to pursue their potential. It just wasn’t engaging enough for me.
This manga has an interesting premise, however, it was hard to keep my attention on it when there is an almost constant shifting of POV. The characters seem to jump around a lot, and there isn’t enough time with each character to really get a feel or get stretched to them. I would probably pick up the second volume to see if this issue gets better. But the pacing for me just felt off.
